Google Experience Launcher - General Questions and Answers

I've heard from multiple people that they've gotten the Google experience launcher to work on a Droid DNA like I have, but I can't even open the launcher without it saying that Google search has stopped. I've seen the fix where you change the language, do a voice search and then immediately change it back, but Google search and the default voice search app both crash before I even have time to do this. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really love to get this working!

I have the same problem when I go to my homescreen, I am greeted with "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped."
I cleared cache and data, problem still persists.
I'm unable to see my App Drawer so anything I have to open will be impossible.
I can still access my Settings though.

Google Talk disappeared?

Well the other day my Google talk app stopped opening, no FC, but when I clicked the icon the screen would go blank for a split second, then back to my homescreen. So used TI to clear data, same thing, so I then uninstalled and rebooted. I went to the market to dl it again, but it's not there. I then went to android.com/market on my comp and was also unable to find it on there.
I'm sure I could located the latest GTalk.apk, but was curious if anyone else is experiencing behavior like this?
Google Talk has never been available through the market, Only Google Voice. I think, I remember looking for Google Talk when I first got my Sensation back in July and it didn't show up in the Market.

Text To Speech

Text to Speech crashes every time I try to use it (Even in the settings dialog, it will give the "Unfortunately, Google Text to Speech has stopped" message.)
I thought it might be GOogle Now (which is largely useless, so I uninstalled it), but even with it uninstalled I still get the same message.
Anyone else have this problem, or have any tips?
I'm running CleanROM 5.0, BeastKernel.
Thanks.
FYI, a dirty re-flash of CleanROM fixed the problem, and I've added back in BeastMode and all my other tweaks EXCEPT Google Now, so I suspect Google Now was the culprit.

Google Now's music recognition

I have an issue with the music recognition on Google Now. Whenever I try to ID a song, it looks like its working but then suddenly the search will just crash and I'll get returned to the home screen. Sometimes "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped" shows up for a split second before going back to the homecreen. I have very rarely gotten the music ID to work, usually by searching for the same song multiple times after each crash. If I use the sound search widget, it works fine.
Interestingly, If I uninstall the latest update for sound search in the play store, I get better results. (Doesnt crash as much, IDs more songs)
Wondering if anyone on same/different roms are having this problem, or if its just isolated to me.
I am currently running CM10 stable.

I have the CM10 stable release and the Google music search works fine. Maybe clearing the data & reboot will help??
System Settings -> Manage Apps -> Google Search -> Clear data

Clearing data and rebooting did nothing to help.
Addendum: Wiping cache/dalvik and doing fix permissions helped initially, could ID a few songs, then returned to previous behavior of crashing alot.

Can't change wallpaper. Google search force close error pop up.

I can't change or even enter the wallpaper gallery due to a Google Search force close error.
If I press down on the homescreen and touch the wallpaper icon to change the wallpaper an error pop up immediately shows "Unfortunately Google search has stopped" with Report and OK buttons. (I have sent a report already).
Once you click either of the buttons it takes you back to the homescreen. If you try again the same thing happens.
Am I doing something wrong? Anyone else have this problem?

Just to clarify, the OP has a Nexus 5? Or are you running the 4.4 launcher on a different phone?

I'm on a brand new Nexus 5- non rooted, straight out of the box. I'm using the native, unmodified 4.4 launcher on a Nexus 5.
I did a factory reset in the end.
I think the problem lies with the automatic backup and restore of apps by google play.
After a factory reset I let google restore the apps to my phone automatically all in one go. This caused the same problem again. I couldn't change the wallpaper or even enter the wallpaper gallery again > pop up error message "Google search has stopped working."
I then did another factory reset and DIDN't allow google to restore all my apps automatically. I painstakingly restored each app one by one checking each time if a certain app caused the problem. (Yes this took hours) I didn't get the problem again.
So I think it was caused by google play restoring all the apps in quick succession. It seems to be too much at once. It must have corrupted something.
Now the phone works ok and I can change the wallpapers and have access to the wallpaper gallery.
Hmm, I wonder if it was trying to restore Google Search from the Play store and that caused an issue somehow. Did you try clearing it's app data before doing the factory reset? I've heard that has been a fix for people running the 4.4 launcher on other phones who have been getting FC's.

Thanks for the replies Yadao.
No, I cleared the Play store data and cache before the final factory reset. I think it did "restore" Google Voice search from my Galaxy Nexus. Perhaps it was that, that was causing a conflict.

hey guys how to fix it i have this trouble too :好:

Sigh...the default launcher problem?

Ok, so my first thought was to just set up NovaLauncher since that is what I am used to. I did that.
Then I saw randomly that the default launcher has some new things that made me want to check it out.
But I messed something up, so I wanted to just reset it back to default. So in settings/apps I just cleared data for something. (It was not the Launcher app, but it was something like google settings)
So now, google now is not the left most tab. In fact, the left most tab, is just whatever I set the left most tab to be.
ARGH?
How can I reset this? And no, I can't "clear data" for Launcher, because that doesn't have any data to clear.
clear data on Google now (Google search)
Sent from my Nexus 5
Google Now is not listed in the ALL tab, what I had cleared the first time was google search, assuming that was it. No joy. It's really stupid...if you clear data from "Google Search" it clears your launcher settings, ie: you have to reset up your pages, widgets, etc. BUUUUUUT Google now is no longer on the left!
after you clear google search, to enable google now again, you have to long press on the home screen of default launcher and click settings.
Thanks. That was really annoying.
Having said that...I'm going back to using Nova...Not being able to control the drawer or dock as much kinda makes the new launcher seem kinda blah.
Don't see the point in worrying about easy google now access (my last phone was older, so it had the 4 softbuttons below the display area of the screen, and I had just set it to open google now on an upswipe...I'll just load it from holding the home button I guess.
