(Req) Good alarm app??? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry, but I have no complaints, so I'll have to go against the norm right now & post a question instead of a rant.
So, I have gotten used to Samsung's Smart Alarm, particularly the gentle increasing volume nature sounds alarm.
Can anyone suggest a GOOD, well designed, full featured alarm that has a similar function?
I don't care if it is free or if it is $50.00, as long as it does what it is supposed to & it does it well. I have tried several in the Play Store, including Sleeps with Android, but none have been to my liking.
Any suggestions?

I would suggest timely. It has the gentle alarm and there is a free and paid version. Really beautiful app.

another +1 for Timely!

+1 for Timely

I also use Timely, mostly because of the syncing ability across all your devices and the fact that it's the nicest looking app available. That said, prior to using Timely, I used Alarm Clock Xtreme. If Timely has the functionality you need, I would go with that. However, if you want the most feature rich alarm clock app, then Alarm Clock Xtreme would be the way to go.

I chose Alarm Clock Xtreme over Timely for very important reasons which I cannot remember

You has an simple/cute Alert Tones?

I don't like my alert tone choices.
I'd like it simple, like a drip of water or chicken cluck.
Can you post a link to your favorite alert tone?
Good idea. I use just the Facebook pop. Zedge from the market has some choices.

I'm embarrassed to say I don't know how to use vcodes.
Is there an app or site I can use with vcodes?
My google searches were not useful.

[Q] Anyone have a nice Alarm program for Android?

Something similar to GAlarm, or the Nintendo DS Alarm Clock?
By that I mean - I like custom alarms, I like puzzles to get to the snooze screen, I like weather add-in (though I don't know when I'd need it ) I like it telling me the time the alarm went off, the time it is now, and the elapsed time inbetween.
Picky? Maybe, but they're basic functions in my mind. Anyway, just wondering!
Try Alarm Clock Plus V2. There is a free version and a paid one. The Paid version is very reasonable at about $2.
Is GAlarm = Gentle alarm?
I use gentle alarm and love it.
Lightning Bug, xD
Gentle Alarm integrates with SleepBot. SleepBot will monitor how long you slept, and Gentle Alarm is simply the best, most reliable alarm clock in Android.
Math Alarm Clock. I sleep through everything else.
+1 for Gentle Alarm.
I've been using it for over a year and it's never let me down yet.
It's VERY configurable to meet most people's needs.
I use "AlarmDroid"...never had any Problems with it.
What I do is revert my HTC HD2 back to ChuckyROM where my GAlarm is, and use that, in the mornings I wake up and switch my phone back over to android.. There really is no good alarm for android that I've seen yet that has the great functionality that GAlarm possesses.
Well GAlarm beta is out for android

I use footie live, very simple, small app. No scorer names or alerts, but it always seems to be up-to-the minute.
It does automatically update when ever you open it though (if you set the option)
I did have footmob but I noticed that it took a while for goals to update, and there were a few times where I was walking out of a match, check final scores on the way to the car, only to hear on the radio a different score.
I have used nearly all on the market at one time or another:
Soccerscore central -- just like skysports ticker great for scores and updates
espn score centre -- a bit fidlely but ok for scores and a widget comes with it bit slow in update
Fot Mob -- using this at the moment for score notifcations and widget for news seems ok at the moment also has themes on the market for it
BBC sports -- quite a few of these on the market they are just versions of the online news section
Hope that helps a little just my opinion of course but as a massive football fan trying to find the right app for saturdays is essential
With footmob the widget is news but it give notifcations based on the time you set to refresh, espn widget has the scores
I use soccer livescores. Pretty good up to date scores. Give it a go.

Try ScoreMobile FC.
Thanks all for the suggestions. I'll give them a go

[Q] Tlert and Intelliscreen for Android

From the forums it seems like the infuse's timing was right to grab a lot of former 3GS owners like myself. I'm wondering if anyone else has found or knows of a good replacement for tlert and intelliscreen. I've asked on a few threads but haven't gotten any responses. Right now I'm using executive assistant which I've seen suggested elsewhere, but it doesn't mark emails and texts as read after you look at them which is annoying. I'm currently using Handcent for texts, but the pop up is huge and annoying. Tlert was great because texts were so unobtrusive on the screen. Texts wouldn't get in my way on a the 3.5" screen, but they take it over on the 4.5" screen, just doesn't seem right.
bump. I'm getting used to the lock screen but the lack of quick text is killing me. Anyone want to develop an app?
As someone who long used iOS as well I found tlert missing as well. I found that ChompSMS does a great job of making texting more like the iPhone experience. It also does in app and lockscreen quick reply. As for intelliscreen no real advice for you. Hope that helps.

Use widgetlocker for intelliscreen-like experience. Lets you put any of your home screen widgets on your lockscreen (i.e. Calendar, contacts, etc.). Handcent or chompSMS for the texting stuff.

Oh you mean GO SMS PRO?
Don't ever use that term LACK with regards to customization on Andriod, I am an iPhone lover for a.long time, but now I see the light lol, don't get me wrong Steve did a great job on his devices, but gets boring in just 1month of having it, in Android all you got to do is make a new customization every month it's like having a new phone again
Enjoy
NOT TO MENTION APPS HERE HAVE NO BOUNDERY, no rejection unless your app has some kind of stealing identity.

For quick text try SMS pop up
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
All these sms apps have very similar text pop ups. What I miss about tlert is that they would pop up but I literally could keep reading what I was or whatever because they wouldn't be in the way. These popups take up the whole screen. I'd rather just have a notification I can look at when I want to (if I can't have an unobtrusive pop up)
I have Stumbled upon this post also looking for a Tlert like app.... It is an amazing texting app... (for a jailbroken iPhone)
All the apps that I have seen on the android market place are bulky and not as streamline as Tlert is
Also sent a message to the dev to see if he is going to be making it for android

[app] brightness apps

Been several posts in Q&A, and in general about best methods for adjusting brightness. Personally I like the slider in the notification tray, but the app Q Bright is by far the best app I've used for this purpose. Full slider, 4 customizable presets, full app customizations, fast acting, oh yeah, it's free.
Thought I'd share.
It's actually Qbright one word

I like screen filter. It's free as well. It can make the screen go dimmer than with the notification slider. Q bright is pretty cool too. Wish I had a search key to long press to bring it up though haha

I've been using Lux for awhile now and it's been working great.
I also use lux, but everytime i reboot i have to open the dash to get it to work. I have the notification icon active, which always says for some reason 50% after boot until I click it. Lux works with tasker and i like that for profiling.
<quick hijack>I've been on the hunt for a widget I can pop in my homescreen that will jump between preset brightness levels. I generally keep my phone around 5% or so but when I'm outside I can't see that. I can pull down the notifications and adjust the slider but a button on my homescreen is much easier.
This one works pretty well but the icon doesn't center properly and my ocd brain can't take it. Plus sometimes it will just jump between 30%-100%...No idea why.
Sorry for derailing the thread
</hijack>
Saw that too, I couldn't deal with the off center widget either. I mean seriously, wtf? Who wants that on their screen?

the best app I have ever used for adjusting screen brightness and saving your battery would be LUX. It is in the Market for free but the paid options are far worth it.
Auto brightness from google store... i like that app... useful and great

I've been using Brightness Level by Curvefish for over 2 years. The widget is perfect.

I agree. This is what I've been using for.months and love it! It allows you to set custom presets based on the current luxury, which you can use the default reader or even use the camera to detect. I use default, and set customs by long pressing the link button on the luxury widget.
