[Q] Tlert and Intelliscreen for Android - Samsung Infuse 4G

From the forums it seems like the infuse's timing was right to grab a lot of former 3GS owners like myself. I'm wondering if anyone else has found or knows of a good replacement for tlert and intelliscreen. I've asked on a few threads but haven't gotten any responses. Right now I'm using executive assistant which I've seen suggested elsewhere, but it doesn't mark emails and texts as read after you look at them which is annoying. I'm currently using Handcent for texts, but the pop up is huge and annoying. Tlert was great because texts were so unobtrusive on the screen. Texts wouldn't get in my way on a the 3.5" screen, but they take it over on the 4.5" screen, just doesn't seem right.

bump. I'm getting used to the lock screen but the lack of quick text is killing me. Anyone want to develop an app?

As someone who long used iOS as well I found tlert missing as well. I found that ChompSMS does a great job of making texting more like the iPhone experience. It also does in app and lockscreen quick reply. As for intelliscreen no real advice for you. Hope that helps.

Use widgetlocker for intelliscreen-like experience. Lets you put any of your home screen widgets on your lockscreen (i.e. Calendar, contacts, etc.). Handcent or chompSMS for the texting stuff.

Oh you mean GO SMS PRO?
Don't ever use that term LACK with regards to customization on Andriod, I am an iPhone lover for a.long time, but now I see the light lol, don't get me wrong Steve did a great job on his devices, but gets boring in just 1month of having it, in Android all you got to do is make a new customization every month it's like having a new phone again
Enjoy
NOT TO MENTION APPS HERE HAVE NO BOUNDERY, no rejection unless your app has some kind of stealing identity.

For quick text try SMS pop up
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App

All these sms apps have very similar text pop ups. What I miss about tlert is that they would pop up but I literally could keep reading what I was or whatever because they wouldn't be in the way. These popups take up the whole screen. I'd rather just have a notification I can look at when I want to (if I can't have an unobtrusive pop up)

I have Stumbled upon this post also looking for a Tlert like app.... It is an amazing texting app... (for a jailbroken iPhone)
All the apps that I have seen on the android market place are bulky and not as streamline as Tlert is
Also sent a message to the dev to see if he is going to be making it for android

Samsung galaxy s messenger/sms apk

Hey,
Can someone send me the apk of the messenger app of the galaxy s, i love that app but i've got an x10, so i'd like to see if it works on my phone as well
Sorry for my poor English, I'm Dutch.

I have galaxy s but it's just regular sms. If you are talking about the widget, it's part of Touchwiz launcher
I'm looking for this as well since the one built into my Evo is slow. I love it but it's slow. The Galaxy S/Droid X have the best ones IMO since it's basically stock but with chat bubbles.
inb4 "use handcent", it kept my phone awake so I'm not touching it anymore.

Another SMS app that has the iphone style view is ChompSMS.
I've been using it on my EVO since I ran into issues with handcent.
I know it's not exactly the answer you're looking for, but it's always worth a shot suggesting something "similar"

Facebook app is lame

Just out of curiosity how many captivate owners agree with me?
What could we do to make it better? Any ideas or thoughts?
Sent from my captivate so excuse the spelling mistakes
Actually its been improved and I don't mind it much anymore. My only problem was when it would take me to the full site for everything but now it stays in the app.
It's only missing chat.

notifications!!! "why didnt you get my facebook posting i sent from my blackberry?"
me: "sigh....because my facebook app sucks..."
x2 definitely needs notifications
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I896 using XDA App
Yes it does suck compared to the iphone version. Need to add ability to view other peoples friends
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
To get around the notification, I've got facebook website to notify me via txt messaging since I have the family unlimited texting plan. So when I get the notification, I then open facebook app to see what's going on as the txt notification truncates a lot of info to limit to 100 characters.
I think the widget needs some serious help... Perhaps something closer to the 'Feeds & updates' style widgets that shows multiple updates at once and lets you scroll through them.
Chat would be great. Well not for me work. LOL
I would like to be able to tag and have games like mafia wars also work with FB.
All of these ideas are really good. I wonder why Facebook is not showing android any love, i also wonder how we get them to start making changes. I don't know programming or coding or anything so i don't know exactly how hard it would be for them to simply put what the iphone version has and apply it to what we have. And maybe throw in a nice widget too.

.........
If we could only get push notification just like in the iPhone it would totally rule!

Favorite/best dialer

OK, I've tried all the big ones, go contacts ex, dialer one, and TouchPal Dialer. Each one seems to have a unique feature or coolness to it, mostly go contacts or TouchPal, but they seem to be lacking or be incomplete... For example when using go and trying to edit a contact... You can't join multiple contacts together... If i was going to use a third party dialer I would want to freeze at the least the stock... With a third party sms app, i use handcent, i don't lose any functionality save for maybe the green dot.. But who uses that? Haha, so what in curious is, is out of all the dialers what is everyone's personal recommendations?

I'm still looking too.
My dialer has to be efficient to work with a large contact list (good search). I don't need integration with anything else than Google Contacts (no Facebook, etc). But I'l like some management tools, like 'call back tomorrow' with alarm, integration with a todo list, etc.

Well it seems that either some apps lack any editing or joining capabilities... Others seem to lack integration with certain things... Its small things but things that I as a whole always use... Its the one up the HTC sense launcher/dialer had compared to stock android... Sigh

[10/18] Modified TouchWiz 4.5 Launcher

So.............. I can't even remember how many people have asked me to look into getting the ticker "call" screen to work when you are using different launchers... Well, I (edit: FINALLY) took a look an hour ago, and I figured it out Right now I have the modifications incorporated into this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883, which i personally LOVE! But yeah, i Didz it
I could probably get it to work with other launchers too, but for now, i'm done... hahaha... I highly suggest checking out that launcher though... It supports samsung widgets (because it is based off of Touchwiz 4.0 launcher ) and works pretty nicely I have a weird obsession with the weather clock we have, so this launcher satisfies that, and more
Alright guys, download time
Install this to the system/app folder (after renaming it to just TW4Launcher )
Download (APK): http://www.mediafire.com/?8jzcxc1p3og69zl
Ok, add this to my WTF list! Lol If I'm running this launcher still get the call options on the large screen. Then, if I switch back to Go launcher, the calls show up in the ticker(Awesome Btw!) . I've gone back and forth multiple times and rebooted... Always the same.
Sent from my GB'ed I400 Continuum
Lol, that's normal! Even with the stock touchwiz launcher the call doesn't show up in the ticker when within the launcher itself... it's when you go to another app that it pops up the reasoning, I assume, is because you are doing important things while in different apps, but when you are home, it's okay to get a more intrusive call method because you aren't doing anything the problem was that the ticker call screen wasn't coming up ever when you didn't load the stock launcher
Sent from my SCH-I400 using xda premium
Lolol!! Yes everyone, I am a DA! And I thought my work around was pretty slick: set up a tasker task to run tw4 for 30sec at boot, then I have the ticker call all the time.
Anyway, love this... However it works! Lol

---------- Post added at 12:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:33 AM ----------
Not asking you to do this, just asking if it's possible... Could this and your "ticker 4 button return to call screen" (ec09) be made into a stand alone app: ie, not tied to a launcher? I'm assuming it's gotta go with the launcher, but as I proved above, don't know much about this stuff
Sent from my GB'ed I400 Continuum
Hello Trailblazer!
It was me. I am the guilty party. I was the one clamoring for this feature all along.
I had an invisible shortcut set to launch TW Launcher any time I happened to reboot my phone, and that was my way of ensuring the call screen function would be there.
Alas, the lure of ICS and JB drew me away from my Continuum to a used Fascinate on eBay, but I still have the Continuum and have made it my kids' phone as a VOIP phone / entertainment device.
Haven't visited this forum in a while...crazy to see what has changed since my last stop. Gingerbread? Your call screening fix? I might have to do some flashing!
Spear...
Are u using google voice + voip?
How is your kids device set up to call etc?
Sent from my SPH-M580BST using Tapatalk 2
Yes. But that's not the whole story.
I use an app called Groove IP. It integrates into Android so that you can make it the default app for outgoing call requests. But it requires a Google Voice account.
So GV is the texting app and the conduit for phone calls in and out. Had to change a setting in my Google Voice account for incoming calls to come to the phone.
Pretty strange still to get texts from my 6 year old when I'm at work.
That's how I have it set up. Just was wondering ...
Yeah my son loves to text when he gets a chance with my phone since he lost his lol.
He beat modernwarfare 2 in under 20 hours, his eigth bday weekend last week.
Sent from my SPH-M580BST using Tapatalk 2
roaddog665: Well, to answer your question, I incorporated the "ticker 4 button return to call screen" feature into gingerbread, so that's not a problem anymore and for making the "call screen" stand-alone... It could probably be done, yeah... However, if I was going to do that, then the even when you are on the launch itself the call screen in the ticker will show up... Basically all what the code in the launcher does is tells the ticker when to show the call screen, so when it is active, it won't show, and when it is closed, it will! I guess that's not a bid deal, but I don't really know performance wise how well that would work... That's not really on my list of things to do though, because instead I can just incorporate my patch, haha
Spearoid: Long time no see! haha... And thatsssss who it was: you! lmao... It's all coming back to me, lol...
and lol, I know right, so many good things are finally happening for the continuum

Thanks for the info! The work around I've been using shows the ticker screen even on the home screen, but it doesn't work all the time. lol I asked about the standalone just because I'm trying to learn about this stuff...but it has a pretty big learning curve for someone with absolutely no programing experience. I was happy getting CRT to work by myself without breaking something!
Hey guys, is there any other launcher that you would want me to try and mod? I'm not saying I can do it/be able to, but if we can come to a consensus, I might take a look at one or two others, haha I have just been pressed for time lately with everything
I'm using GO Launcher holo launcher, I like having the scrollable dock. This mod + the four button return to call = ticker call screen heaven! Lol

With the Holo Launcher? That's odd, I'm running them both with no problem. But, I'm starting to think these phones have minds of their own, I couldn't get Ciscogee's theme to run but I think everyone else could.

Oh no Holo Launcher worked fine on me. the touchwiz 4.5 had a few bugs.. But not a problem. Ciscogee's theme works fine with me with any launcher with no problems.
Did you guys just regularly install it, or did you put the apk in /system/app ? Just curious... Because it works great for me, ahha
and I tried doing the mods for the Holo Launcher, and porting it worked just fine... It just the fact that I had to resign the apk that was the problem, and that was something I didn't want to deal with I'll do it eventually, ahha

Just don't trust em anymore - Let's see..
I lost trust with Facebook after all the issues they have had with privacy. Also when adding the Facebook Android app about a year ago to my Android phone it basically merged all the pictures and put them in my contact list, sounds fun but it was actually a pain.
Think I'll wait for the reports to come rolling in in this thread before I try it.
Useless waste of resources... So no.

The best part is chat heads and you can use this without installing Facebook home, just update the FB and FB messanger app and allow chat heads I. Settings ,works great and includes sms
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I started using it day 1 and I think it has potential. It allows me to do what I usually do on my phone, but right from the launcher. I didn't really use widget, but it doesn't prevent you from using the regular launcher. I love the Chat Heads, as it helps with texting and keeping track of who you are talking to. Once you are done, just drag their Head down to close the chat window. I like it cause it reminds me to check if I replied to anyone. Some things I don't like is that there is no way to manage your contacts, save contacts, or anything you can normally do on any SMS app. You have to go to the People or SMS app to do that. I think some stuff will be added/fixed over time. Overall, a pretty good experience once you learn how to use it. Took me 30 minutes to find out my apps were a swipe to the right away. Big learning curve.
Here is the app for those with non compatible devices. Good luck.

Not everyone is running high performance apps. As one coworker said, it is iOS for Android in a way. No widgets, just put the apps you will use on the main app window. Everything else is still there, just centered around updates. For most non-power users, it will be fine.
Hey, it is not for everyone. I'm running Mastamoon's CM10.1 unofficial S3, and it runs well for me. Don't like it, just uninstall it.
How to use facebook Home If it is not Supported in my country.
In India
Got it on my htc g2/vision/desire z
I made that my facebook phone, and had before this thread only the fb app installed, got around 5-7days with stock battery and constant w-lan connection
Since fb home I am down to 3d without constant w-lan connection (off over night)
So, although it is very nice and I personally think that this is no lockscreen anymore in a sense of LOCKscreen, so you can go right ahead, it kinda drains very much :/
Will leave it this and maybe next week, but then I'll see how it works out
Also, needing quite much of the little RAM I got there :/
