From Eclair to KitKat, what a long journey it has been. Thanks Quarx!

well, well, well---- Thanks God that i have a "new" Defy with me,, ready to flash this wonder!
Thanks Quarx to help me to bring back to defy charm!

Works great. Very stable. No reboots so far.
What seems to work:
-HWA
-phone & data
-adb
-sound
-screen rotation
What doesn't work yet:
-wifi (won't turn on)
-camera (can't connect)
Haven't tested bluetooth or GPS yet. First impressions are that it runs a tiny bit smoother.

Looking at this thread ., makes me miss my Defy.. I should not have moved on from the masterpiece..
I m having Atrix HD , but no signs of kitkat, nor a vry stable 4.3 ., Though my mom uses my Defy., i feel like using it for few days .,
And Quarx is always the among the first to bring the android build., sometimes even before the Nexus !!!!

Quarx your grand master for our moto defy to born a new life

I tested this ROM. It works, but not very well. The LED is still green after boot, WiFi doesn't work, camera doesn't work at all.
EDIT: Here are some Gapps http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291674581

Hey @Quarx, I am $id690 and am using two devices, the defy and Alcatel OT995.
I build roms. I would like to know how did you build the KitKat? I have already flashed it on my defy and want it on my OT995. Thanx a lot man! You are amazing. I wish a developer like you would build roms for the OT995
Thnx
$id690

Bugs:
1 - Green LED does not turn off ever.
2 - I can not install APKs, error analysis.
3 - No WiFi.
4 - Hold the button "home" recognizes as "menu", do not have access to recent apps.
5 - Percentage of battery 10 to 10%.
6 - Layout button to switch between quick settings and notifications.
7 - No camera.
8 - Keyboard with emojis invisible and without written gestures.
9 - Ancient icon dialer phone.
EDIT:
10 - Application "settings" is only with the English language, while the rest of the system is the chosen language.

@690sid
Take a look at Quarx's GitHub. There you will find the source, I think he updated the CM branches now so it should compile.
@Quarx
Will you keep the AOSP branches? I'd really appreciate a clean and stable AOSP rom for our Defy!

Nexus S Rom based on CM10 alpha3
I can fix the bugs crespo based on CM10 but not those of the authors
The following ROMs presented here are built* from the original and latest android source.
Strawberry is the integration and harmonization between the custom ROM and custom kernel (as well as a few extra features).
AOSP Strawberry
Build ID: JZO54K
Build date: 18/10/2012
Deodexed; rooted; includes google apps..
Modifications:
Based on rasbeanjelly 18/10 (credits: rascarlo):
CM Telephony (fixes some wakelocks in crespo)
Xlythe's Calculator (swipe to left/right for additional options)
CM's Clock which includes stopwatch and timer (swipe to left/right for additional options)
Switched to CM's bionic (little performance improvements hopefully)
Facebook contacts synchronization
Dhiru kernel
All works !!!
1. Do Nandroid backup
2. Do a factory reset/data wipe
3. Install the ROM
4. Reboot (automatically)
Download area: strawberry-10.13-AOSP-GalaxySL-JZO54K-Alpha3.zip - 163.98 MB

In /system/app there's no Trebuchet.apk (it was there in 10.2). I haven't tried this ROM, but it looks like there is no Trebuchet here. Or it has a different file name.

Yupp, my mistake, there's Launcher3.apk in /system/app.
[EDIT]
But... I cannot install it. Installer says package is broken.
Guys, any idea how is the memory usage? Is it really for low end devices.
Thanks for ur work dev!

@czechop can you post some photos about the rom? (Who does it look like, etc...)
The time has come. I'm. Installing it.
[EDIT]
I was too fast again. Well... First thing is TRWP refused to install gapps. The other: I coudn't restore my apps with Titatium Backup since it couldn't gain root access. I'll try the next release.
Besides, I like the new tap button sound. It's less offensive than the previous one.
[EDIT 2]
Downloaded some other zip with gapps for 4.4, flashed and... phone died - I even cannot enter bootmenu.
So that's the story for today.
[EDIT 3]
Finally after 3 hours I'm when I started at the beginning.
Besides, does any of you have a flashable zip file with TRWP which from one hand can be flashed with an old CWM recovery (the one from droid2bootstrap), and from other hand can flash latest 10.2 ROMs? If I had something like that, I would save 2 hours of work...

It looks similart to 4.3. Not so blue - more grayish blue tint. Also screen font is more compact (similar to that Nokia had on Symbian devices). Quite smooth, at least as smooth as 4.3 - but I didn't have a chance to test it deeper.
And now what the matter with your phone? You have to flash sbf, and do everything (rooting,etc...)from the beggining?

Yes, I've already done it.
SBF -> root -> bootstrap -> CM10 -> Engle's CM10.1 -> Czechop's 10.2
If only I had a TRWP zip which can be flashed from old boostrap app the way would be shortened to:
SBF -> root -> bootstrap -> TRWP -> Czechop's 10.2
And another interesting thing. The biggest problem of MS2 is a locked bootloader, yes? But thanks to it I didn't brick my phone. I'm using Linux and usually flash SBF from inside a VirtualBox Windows machine. Today something went wrong, and virtual machine froze during early flashing stage. I had to disconnect MS2 during flash. At that point when I put battery, a screen similar to power+camera+vol_up appeared saying that code is broken, but I was still able to flash SBF again (this time under "real" Windows). Lucky me, because I thought I will have to upgrade my phone and leave MS2 threads.
hey guys!!!
Sorry for my ignorance, but, what's the difference between the cm11 download and the AOSP download???
Thanks!!

AOSP is hard google code as is, and cm11 is a customization of AOSP.
Hello.
So I moved one small step further: managed to root AOSP 4.4 with an app called Kingo Android Root (very easy one click method performed under Windows - there are some information that it looks suspicious, and some suggest it might install some malware, but for me it worked like charm).
Now there's one more thing that prohibits me from daily use. I have no mobile data access - I can call phone, but data connection is possible only with wi-fi. Has any of you encountered such problems?
And last: I'm not able to install gapps provided in first post. Is anyone else affected too?
Thanks
Chris

new updates will come out after update releasing RR and AOSP 5.1.1, which google release new version each 5 minutes like R18, R19 that bored me a lot with their updates, bah.
Performance is good.
However: calls don't work (It says I don't have an app for that on the device)
I can't change user details (says contact does not exist)
The setting that stops FC notifications altogether has "notifications" spelled wrong in its description
Missing SU settings
Missing navigation bar control
Missing disable SU icon in status bar
The loading screen after first setup (with a small loading bar at the bottom) never disappears. I had to press the home button to get to the launcher.
I'll tell if there's anything else. So far, this shows almost no lag (very rare) and is very promising.
EDIT: Oh, and I can't find any lock screen settings (pin, etc)
Sent from my GT-I9105P using RR ROM
Edit 2: guest account doesn't work.
Edit3: nvm about the lockscreen, I found it, seems like it had its own category and wasn't under security.
Until the update is up, could you please provide a fix for phone? XD I can bear no video and I use ghrs's fix for browser, but I can't receive or send calls at all.

For me, at least more customization would be nice xD like I always wanted to be able to change which icon the system picks for each app from icon packs, since not all apps have icons and I want to put similar icons system-wide not launcher-wide, but otherwise it's ok (if you fix the bugs, add SU control and nav bar control and all the other previously mentioned stuff xD)

This post is for the nitpickers who will remind me of the retirement post I did in cm13 thread....
Things are better than what I expected so I may continue my contributions to falcon but don't expect timely updates
Thanks bro good work

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] Paranoid Android - AOSPA v7.3 for Xiaomi Mi Mix

Some of you have asked to me to open a thread for this ROM. I can't guarantee a proper support because lack of time but if you like it, this can be, at least, a meeting point for PA enthusiasts.
More info about AOSPA here.
Download
Latest version available here.
Installation
Sure you know: full wipe, flash ROM zip, flash gapps and reboot (or use MultiROM to install as secondary)
Bugs
Screen brightess issues (maybe enough or maybe too low for you...). Until fixed you can check Lux app from Google Play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vitocassisi.luxlite , thx @pappschlumpf for suggesting)
Tips
Default governor is Performance, you can switch to Interactive (for instance) using Kernel Adiutor or similar if you get too hot or fast battery draining.
Thanks
To all PA guys and people involved in this ROM and Mi Mix development.
Special thanks: @rhong , @VerucaSalt and @tidschi for testing, support and help to bring up this thread.
Source Code
AOSPA (modded vendor_pa and vendor_xiaomi for lithium)
Kernel.
Device Tree for lithium and common.
Nice!!!!

Thanks for your work.
Great job. Love pa
Wow, just thought about "what to install when my Mix arrives", and PA came out!
Thanks for the good job
Works well. Only real issue is the screen brightness!
Awesome! flashing it ASAP
(My previous phone was a OnePlus 2 with PA 6.0.2 so I have romantic feelings for AOSPA)
Yeah rom is verry good only. The Brightness is to low hope this can be fixed.. Thanks for the great work
Loved PA on my nexus 5 years back. Getting my Shiny new Mix tomorrow. Can't wait to flash this. Thanks

Not sure whether I missed it or not:
Is there an option for instant unlock with fingerprint?
I first have to push power button for short to unlock?

Coming from LOS with factory reset.
So clean install necessary?
Same for me. Have to tap and hold the power button first

I've clean flashed using micro or stock opengapps and no issue.
Also clean with pico gapps...
Hi BitOBSessiOn,
If I recall correctly, your test build - pa_lithium-7.2.3-DEV-20170904.zip - did not have the brightness issue as much as the more recent builds.
Job well done bito. ...
finally! thanks!
been a PA user since GN times.
RR too hot when i charging. (
