Hello,
After rooting/TWRP on Nexus 5, I was able to access MTP/PTP OK, with no issues. But now, when plugging USB into my computer, the MTP/PTP prompt doesn't come up on the phone.
I've only been able to "see" the phone on the PC when turning on USB Debugging, and even then cannot install Nexus 5 drivers correctly anymore. I have tried the Universal drivers, the Google SDK manager drivers, and more, but have had no luck.
Any suggestions? Should I just factory wipe at this point? Only installed Apps were Titanium Backup, Goo Manager, FDroid, Adaway, Super User.
Also, is there an option in TWRP to mount the storage to PC? Is it just USB-OTG from Mount menu?
Thanks in advance,
Rob
Just wanted to say, the MTP prompt came up OK after performing a factory wipe, and the only thing I haven't installed since is Goo manager. I'll just apply recovery via ADB from here out

Hi everyone,
I have a Nexus S i9020T that I think I have bricked. What I did is that I was trying to flash a ROM and by mistake I formatted the SD, and USB storage. And since then when I reboot, I only see the GOOGLE sign with a blue bar underneath. I have the clockworkmod working for me but I can't mount my USB storage or SD card to copy any files from computer because the computer does not detect it. I installed ADB properly, and I had PDAnet installed as well. but for some reason when I try to open PDAnet, it gives me errors and asks for reinstallations as there are files that are in conflict or something. and now I have a device that can't be detected on computer but can be rebooted in to recovery. I will be grateful if one of you guys helped me out with this.
here are drivers maybe different than what you have
I got a Xoom for free a couple days ago, I decided I wanted to put KitKat on it, I didn't really like how 4.1 looked. I installed ClockworkMod Recovery on it to, but I can't push any files to it using 'adb push 'filename'', this is because adb does not recognize my device. I believe this is because there is no driver installed. In Device Manager it shows up as "Xoom" in the "Other Devices" dropdown. I've downloaded and installed the drivers previously from this link (can't post links because I'm new, the name of the program is Motorola Device Manager ), but while in recovery, they don't seem to work. When I try to run the driver installer while in recovery, it does not install any drivers, and Windows cannot find any drivers. So, any suggestions?
Edit: I booted back to the factory OS and tried installing the driver there through Motorola Device Manager, but it says to switch the device into "Media Device" mode (MTP), which it is already in.

Are you using the correct cable? Have you tried using another USB port?
I'm assuming you have a memory card. So if you had a custom recovery already installed why not pull the SD card out of the xoom and move the files required for custom os onto that directly from computer.

I don't have the factory cable, I believe I have already tried two separate cables though. I have tried front and back USB ports on my PC. I've been trying to do it without a micro SD card, as the only one I have is in my phone. I assume if I use that it would mess up the formatting on my phone though?

No. If you have recovery already loaded, then place the rom of choice on the card insert in xoom and install from SD card. No formatting required on card.

I was worried about my SD card, which is in my phone, getting messed up and not work properly with my phone. I'll probably go ahead and try it and not worry about my phone. I'll let you know how it goes.

Copy all files to computer from SD card to be safe. Then if you do lose something. No worries![emoji16]
IHi, i've removed my system Os and all i'm left with is TWRP and no backup which i messed up, and the system is not able to recognize the device with adb, samsung or any other driver I tried installing, not able to understand how to fix this
please help !
Hi,
You can mount your internal storage in twrp in the mounts menu. Your PC should then detect the phone as a mass storage device without additional drivers required.
After that, you should be able to flash a rom.

Everything was perfectly fine until today when I booted into twrp to flash a new rom and forgot to copy the rom.zip.
So from twrp itself I connected the usb cable to my Win10 PC, it detected my phone but in My computer/ Windows Explorer, phone wasn't showing up to copy the data from my pc.
I tried different usb ports but same issue.
I booted into phone os and then tried and then it showed into windows explorer.
Its only that from twrp it isn't showing in explorer where earlier it used to show to copy files.
What could be the reason? How to solve this.
after you get into the TWRP you need to navigate to Mount options and then turn on MTP there.

Once u boot into recover go to Mount options and then turn on MTP there. if this also dont work check ur driver installed in pc or not also try formatting data at worst case.

Hi everyone, I was trying to return my moto g7+ to stock. I had wiped all partitions except internal, ext sd, and otg. I already had motorola_moto_g7_plus_xt1965-2_lake_retail_br_9.0_ppw29.98-66.zip on my sd card, but when I tried to install it it gave me an error message. I then downloaded it from motostockrom.com to my desktop. Then I copied it to a usb thumb drive and connected it to my phone via an otg cable. When I looked for it in TWRP, it wasn't listed. I removed the thumb drive and deleted everything but the .zip file and it still listed all of the files that I had deleted and not the .zip. I rebooted the phone and when it rebooted, I went into TWRP but my touch screen didn't work so I couldn't do anything. I tried to connect to phone via ADB but it wasn't being recognized. Strange thing, when TWRP starts, I can access the internal storage and the micro SD card folders on my computer. I've read other's posts with the same problems but I haven't seen any solutions. I'm using TWRP 3.5.2 _9-0. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Can you enter fone gui? You need to revoke adb keys in dev options in fone in order to regrant them, then reboot back into twrp, and twrp adb should work, but if you can get in fone gui, and load adb, use Vysor, google it, Vysor gives your pc mouse control of your fone in your pc as if you were at the phone screen. Google Vysor.
An awfy long way to say screen dont work lol, Prob solved in 1 word.
If you cant enter gui, get back to me

I came across a post that mentioned using a mouse with the otg cable so I tried that. I was able to access the controls in TWRP. I was still getting the error message "invalid zip file format! Error installing zip file '/external_sd/Motorola_Moto_G7_Plus_XT1965-2_LAKE_RETAIL_BR_9.0_PPW29.98-111_(by_motostockrom.com) (1).zip".
Is there a spelling error, re: (by_motostockrom.com)? I tried to restore to a point that I had saved from 2020 which said that it had completed sucessfully but resulted in a boot loop. I tried to restore to the other save from 2021, but it gave an error "Cannot restore firmware -- mounted read only." In recovery, if I go to file manager, all of the entries are 20+ character alphanumeric, which I had experienced before when I tried to do a restore but my phone was encrypted.
