Hallo Fellow XDA-developers,
I bought a galaxy tab 2 ( 10 inch with 3g ) for my grandma and I wanted to install Doro on it.
Doro is an app for seniors. It has its own browser and basically works as a limited version of Touch-wiz.
The thing is that when I press on a url on google the tablet will automatically open the stock browser and do nothing. The Doro browser will continue running fine in the background, opening the link and shows the content. The funny thing with this is that it only happens when i press on links on google, not on any other sites
And here is the million dollar question: is there a way to change this irritating behaviour by rooting the device and installing android 4.3 then set a parental control on all browsers, or is there any other way to do it ?
ps. its a standard behaviour that can be changed by Settings -> Applications -> "Clear Defaults".
I really hope one of you guys can help me

Hey Guys,
I have an issue with some of the browsers available for the android phone.
I would like to access work through my phone via VPN web access. I am sucessfull at this.
When I open my work page, it opens up in a popup window. This is okay too as I allow pop ups under settings.
The issue is, when I click on a case in this pop up window, there is an error thats comes up saying"Cannot open another pop up window, only one pop up window at a time". It is trying to open up my case in another pop up window, which it blocks.
I have used froyo 2.2 on a Nexus one, dell streak, galaxy s tab and motorola droid.
I also used Dolphin HD and Dolphin, with the same results.
I downloaded opera, and there was not even an option for allowing pop ups.
Do you guys have any ideas?
I would like to be able to do my work with out having to lug around a laptop everywhere I go.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays!
Maluman
I would love to find out if this is an Android restriction or there are indeed browsers that support multiple pop ups (or can be tweaked to do so). There are some legit websites that actually rely on pop ups for various purposes (chat rooms for example). Old fashioned and annoying yes, but why punish the end users for it?
Darn, I have the same issue on my HTC EVO. My work website uses pop-ups, but I can't open the link on the pop-up that uses another pop-up! All legitimate pop-ups, not ad-ware. There must be a way to allow trusted sites or something.
Is there a solution to this issue??
Has anyone found an answer/fix to this issue? It is definitely an Android issue b/c I have the new HTC Sensation running Android Gingerbread 2.3, and everyone I know w/ an Android phone from 2 years ago to present has had this same issue....we can not open more than 1 popup window at a time. Like all have posted in this thread, I'm trying to access a number of different applications within my job's website (SWAlife - website for Southwest Airlines employees but specifically for flight attendants to change/trade their trips) and it relies on opening popups within popups but it just doesn't work w/ Android devices.
I've tried the stock browser, Dolphin, Opera mini, Skyfire, rotating the phone horizontally, keeping the setting in Landscape only mode while browsing, and of course, allowing Popups in the browser settings. I also need the browser to allow double-clicks to be just that - a double-click.....not a zoom in and out function.
Please, can someone tell me if there is a fix somewhere to this problem??? I'm interested in buying the new Samsung Galaxy S II but refuse to if I'm not able to access all elements of my job's website. Oh, and someone made a SWAlife app that's accessible with iPhone only (works perfectly & allows popups to open within popups) but I HATE to have to buy an iPhone just b/c of this app. :-(
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!!
You know the SWAlife app is in the Android market too, but you will not be able to check the overtime call out list, not built in to the app yet, same with from iPhone app.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Yea, I've used the Android SWAlife app for some time but it only employees to make non-rev listings, provides company news and operational updates. No Crew Web Access or FA scheduling. In otherwords, this app is pretty useless :-( The one for iPhone, however, is EXACTLY what we need for Android. It allows pilots and FAs to manipulate their schedules in CWA (Inflight Crew Web Access)....it looks identical to what's in SWAlife on the web and functions just as if you were on a PC. Are you aware of another app in the Market that I might be missing that allows that? Thanks for your help!

I know this is an old problem, but try xScope browser in the market. I needed to be able to open more than one popup window and the website I was trying and failing to access with about 10 other browsers would not work until I tried this one.
I have the same problem. Your tip sounds good. I will give this browser a try. I hope that the search has an end.
This browser works for my sites where I need more than one pop-up. Thanks for the valuable information.
I have an acer Iconia with Honeycomb, I was wondering if there was a way to improve the performance of the facebook games, they are unplayable , the one I mostly tested it on is Ravenwood fair. I know its not a hardware problem because it actually plays other games that arent facebook apps pretty well.

right click inside game app and flash setting should come up. there change permission to use mx offline cache. this will increase performance drastically. let me know if this helps.
how do you right click?
I found flash settings manager, but it keeps reverting to the mobile manager, which has very little options

It must be detecting the browser as a mobile app. Try the following. Intructions are for the default web browser.
1.Download and install Flash 10.1 from market (skip if already installed)
2.Open your browser, go to facebook.
3.type into the browser about:debug and press go. The browser will go right back to the same screen you were on previously and it appears that nothing happens.
4.Press your menu button(bottom left physical button)
5.Press "MORE"
6.Scroll down to "Settings"
7.Scroll all the way down to the bottom where you see "UA STRING"
8Choose "Desktop" This will "trick" websites into thinking you are logging in from a PC computer and not a Droid.
9.Hit back until you are on the facebook page again.
10. Refresh your browser and launch Farmville!!!
After completing the above steps you should be able to get the regular settings manager for flash. Enjoy!
Enjoy
ua string is desktop, the regular manager flashes up for a second and then it goes back to mobile.
since i never could get the regular settings manager to stay up. I brought it up on my computer, I do not see a mx offline cache setting.

try a different browser. clicky here: Boat Browser
naw still waiting on chrome to be released, they said we would get a soon ... a month ago. i doubt switching browsers will work . anyway once I finally get it working the game apps will probably move to html 5 lol. I have been trying all sorts of things to try to get them to work since I got this tab in may.
Does anyone have a clue what omnichron is talking about. Permission set mx offline cache , ha google comes up with this thread. He is smart enogh to get it working but cant tell anyone the proper steps......or he is just trolling
is this still a no go with ICS? heck about all I wanted to do with the tablet was play facebook games and read forums, at least I can read forums on it.
I have an Asus TF700T. I installed Cyanogenmod 11 which is now upgraded to release M12 (the latest available).
I use both Firefox and the standard browser. Both of them crash frequently. This is especially bad on complex sites like newspaper sites (in desktop mode) but it has happened on other sites. Most often I access the Toronto Star desktop website (thestar.com) with Firefox.
I don't have a lot of apps installed. I use the tablet mostly for web browsing and email (k-9 mail). The mail client works fine.
I have seen complaints about the TF700T crashing elsewhere on the Internet - but most of them are quite old, and they ostly talk about the operating system crashing so it has to be restarted. In my case, the browser stops responding, a cilog box comes up asking if I want to wait or exit, I select wait, and the browser exits. I have never had a crash which required me to power off and start over.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

Hey guys!
This is my first post here, and I come with a problem that affects 2/3 android devices and possibly one desktop PC (Windows).
The problem:
I have malware on my devices and said malware redirects my current page to a russian advertising one. Most of the time i'm redirected to one that activates the vibration, knows the device i'm currenty using and says that I should run a virus scan with AVG.
If I hit return, the page just reloads, If I hit it enough times, I lose the page I was visiting as if I hadn't visited it in the first place.
Here
Code:
imgur.com/a/5dvVR
are some of the URLs I'm redirected to and sometimes, I happen to suffer the problem on the last page, where an ad sits in the middle of the page I'm visiting and If I close it, another tab opens and leads me to the addresses above.
Symptoms:
This problem happens with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and the built-in browser of "Reddit is fun".
This problem happens with and without a WiFi connection. It is more common to happen while on WiFi vs on mobile.
Sites like knowyourmeme.com, foxtrotalfa.jalopnik.com and albums on imgur.com can trigger the malware.
Devices:
Definitively affected:
Lg G2 D-802 , Android 4.4.2
Galaxy Tab S 10.5" SM-T800, Android 5.0.2
Probably affected but not 100% proven:
Huawei Y600 (another carrier, but the problem happened on my GF's WiFi rarely on mobile), workphone
A desktop PC (the ad blocking the page happened just once)
Networks
This desktop PC is my GF's. It's in her WiFi signal that I usually connect and update the apps on my devices. In my house's WiFi the problem seems to happen as well on my devices but not on my Desktop PC (or perhaps it does, but I have ublock origin on my browsers).
However, I can trigger this problem on my G2's carrier Movistar and not on the Huawei's Carrier Telcel.
Working on the problem:
Disabling scripts
The very first thing I did was testing disabling scripts (as suggested by one page I found on google), It did work, to some extent. However, I knew that this wasn't a solution but a workaround.
Suspicious APPs
I know that apps are the main entrance for malware and since the problem DID happened on both devices (G2 and Galaxy Tab) It.HAD to be a common app, so I made a list of common apps and started by the less trustworthy.
I uninstalled and tested Advice animal creator, BS player free, zooper pro, Days counter widget, Disk Usage, electrodroid, ****ing weather, Google tasks organizer lite, GPS test, meme generator, system info for android, reddit is fun , add watermark and Think.
Keep in mind that these apps fill the criteria in which both are present on the phone and tablet and are suspicious to me (a very ambiguous term), however, I'm not stating that any of these have malware on them.
Sadly, after uninstalling and testing on the phone, the problem persisted.
G2's Factory restoration (Through options menu, not recovery menu)
After going through a factory restoration on the phone, the problem persisted. The only things I had installed were Reddit is fun, facebook and whatsapp. My request to you guys:
After all ofthis wall of text (in which I show the symptoms, what I've done, etc) , here comes my request.
Can you guys point me to the right direction?
I just don't want to wipe my devices without knowing what is the problem, how to eliminate it and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, how to prevent it.
What I want to discard is if the problem comes from my GF's network (If that is the case, a factory-through-recovery restoration would be useless), an app or just random malvertising.
I would hate to wipe my cellphone and tablet everytime I jump into this problem and that is not practical for me, I prefer a head-on approach.
Thanks in advance guys!
Hi!
First, here is a little info on avoiding Malware, http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/guide-simple-steps-to-avoid-installing-t3000682
And another, http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-little-guide-to-security-privacy-t3042460
As far as Malware you already have....there are malware removal tools on the Play Store...many of them to try.
And if all else fails, here are the device sections or the mobile devices you have.....you could ask for help in the Q&A sections...

Now, if you want to ask about all in one, and the PC....you could try asking or help here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
Good luck!

But as I said, I tried several apps and didn't find anything wrong.
However, I switched my focus to the possibility of a router infection, and oh surprise it seems to be the rootcause.
Here are some links that report being redirected on several devices to ads pages (I use code since I can't post links in a new account), in this case adsmatte.com:
Code:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/protect_other-protect_scanning/how-to-get-rid-of-adsmattecom-adware-opening/06b20667-586a-4ebd-9876-6d28c8528a1f?page=1

http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-g-2014/528571-adware-redirects-most-websites-how-can-i-get-rid.html
http://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=8189&extra=&page=1
Then I tried searching for the page I get redirected to, somethingsomething.epara.ru, so I searched that last common part epara.ru (I thought I had done this before ):
Code:
http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=334600
https://warosu.org/g/thread/S50749199
http://www.xataka.com/respuestas/malware-adware-en-todos-mis-dispositivos (SPANISH)
What is VERY suspicious is that many of the results, suggest downloading "Spy hunter".
Here are some examples:
Code:
http://solvepcproblem.com/remove-359198-epara-ru/
http://removevirusvideo.com/stop-epara-ru-from-redirecting-epara-ru-removal-tips/
Now, how do you solve it?
Simple:
Disconnect from any WiFi, clear your browser's cache (and even your OS's). CCleaner does a pretty good job for this.
Then go to your suspicious router and factory reset it (or ask your ISP to do that remotely) and update its firmware. After all thosesteps, you can connect again.
What the malware does is change your DNS towards a malicious one.
I haven't done that reset to my GF's router, but that should solve the problem.
Thansk for everything, and I hope this works for somebody else!
Glad you got it sorted. If you want to find further help on anything, use the links I suggested... And if you want to post info to help others, you could post here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general
I'll close this thread now.
:good:
Firstly, allow me to thank the wonderful people here at xda for a great site that that obviously helps out so many folk with such diverse problems.!
Okay... I am originally versed and quite happy with my LG G2 (ATT rooted.. again thanx xda) but without finances to replace my broken touch screen, I have been on an extended temporary demotion to the cheapiest Android I could find... the StraightTalk LGL15g.
Trying once again to have 'free reign' over my OS (4.4.2 kitkat, same as the aforementioned G2) I rooted with chainfire's xda's link to Supersu (marked as 'stable'). It seemed to work fine with little to no obvious problems although very limited acess to files through Sqlite... then slowly deteriated in stability and is now resident to some very fustrating behaviours that I cannot find resolve for:
1) web pages 'refreshing' if I try to use an app or another web browser tab... and losing all my work (if the page had forms), and everything I had typed in 'reply' text boxes.
2) I can no longer upload photos to webpages oras attachments on emails.
The same 'refreshing' takes place. e.g. On facebook or other date sites that I use.. I click 'upload photo'... the file browser opens and I browse and select normally.. but when I 'ok it' instead of the upload process beginning, I am back to a refreshed page where I am prompted to 'upload photo' again.
ANY help, advice, or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.!
