Problems with the ADM (Device Manager) - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Heya guys,
Just unboxed my N5 and went through the rigmarole of turning it on etc.
For some reason, it didn't want me to log in with my account details before showing me the home screen (not sure why).
So it didn't give me the option of downloading all my apps from my Galaxy Nexus (I know, 2 year old phone).
So, I wanted to test out the vibration on it from a phone call, and instead of mucking about, I thought I'd check out the ADM and lock/ring the device.
To my pleasure the device showed up in the ADM: https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager - but the location wasn't being found.
I have followed the troubleshooting page: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/3265955?p=android_device_manager&rd=1#
So I've cleared out the google play services several times, restarted the phone several times - all to no avail.
My galaxy nexus is reporting correctly (when I connect it to a network - I have temporarily disconnected it thinking that it may have caused an issue).
Does anyone have any additional ideas?
Is this a common N5 issue or is everyone else working just fine?

[Q] Help needed: HTC not booting beyong logo anymore

Hello dear forum,
something weird happened to my One S 2 days ago and I would need your help, since I am, not very smartphone-savvy. I will try to describe the problem as detailed as possible.
It is important to mention, that since a few months the phone's USB connection didn't work properly (I can charge the phone on the PC, but it won't be recognised as a device by the PC). Also the phone doesn't seem to have an SC card?? I never really noticed this, but now it puts an obstacle in my way cause there is no easy way to recover my gallery etc.
While I was manually updating my apps (at the time of the happening: WhatsApp and Skype), I suddenly got the popup message "Google Play store stopped working". I wiped recent apps and started the play store again. Suddenly, various apps (Google Drive, Gmail, Play Store, Clean Master, you name it..) all stopped working and I got a huge amount of these "stopped working"- popup messages, including "android.process.acore has stopped working".
It was impossible to get rid of the messages, because they kept appearing over and over again on the screen.
I tried to restart the phone, which didnt fix the problem. It seemed like my apps just kept crashing over and over. I rebooted again after a while and everything seemed fine. My data was also still there and wifi worked too.
But then the phone froze. I tried restarting it via the hardware button. Since then, the phone seems dead. It only starts when connected tot he charger, but always keeps freezing at the "HTC One S" startup screen.
Now I mentioned the USB connection was not working properly even before this happened. I still tried plugging the phone into the PC, and it seemed to be searching for drivers for a certain "QHSUSB_DLOAD".
I have no idea what this means and would like to ask you for suggestions on what to do (or if there is anything I could do at all). I don't have much hope, but the best case scenario for me at this moment would be to have my photos recovered.
Thank you VERY much for your suggestions, it will be hugely appreciated!

[Q] ADB seems to disconnect randomly after connecting my OPO (Potential Fix)

POTENTIAL FIX: PLEASE SEE UPDATE 2 BELOW!!!
Hey everyone, got a really odd issue and I seem to not be the only one.
I decided to get back into some Android development now that I have a bit of free time.
Went through the whole process of installing Android Studio, SDK, etc, etc without any problems. Decided to also get my OPO connected because I'd rather test on a physical device.
HOWEVER, I had logcat running and kept noticing my device would just randomly "disconnect" for no apparent reason. I phrase "disconnect" like that because ADB would just say the device is "offline" but still connected, despite being unlocked and very much on.
So I'd see something like this:
Code:
List of devices attached
XXXXXXX device
And then maybe a minute or two (random) later:
Code:
List of devices attached
XXXXXXX offline
I'm on stock CM12 (YNG1TAS213) and Windows 8.1 (64bit). I'm using the Google USB Drivers.
I've tested this on two machines (albeit, both 8.1). Additionally, it seems others are having the issues regardless of the OS (I can't post links b/c I'm a new member but there are two threads on the OPO forums with this issue).
I do have a 2012 Nexus 7 so I'll attempt to see if I'm getting the same issue but something tells me it is the OPO.
Update:
I just ran a quick test on my Nexus 7. It was able to stay "connected" for a straight 7 minutes. My OPO gave up after less than 1 minute (I have a script that runs every minute).
Update 2 (FINAL):
Welp, I seemed to have solved my own problem but I'll leave this here for anyone who is having the same problem.
I remembered that I did change one setting that was crucial to modify.
Yes, the dreaded Google Play Services wakelock issue... Went into Privacy Guard and re-enabled "Wake Up" for Google Play Services and what do you know, it fixed it.
Toggled it back off, and what do you know, it crapped out again.
So, it looks like Google Play Services is the culprit here. I guess the fix for now is to re-enable "wake up" while connected until the wakelock bug is fixed.

[Completed] Z740g - Phone Self Reset And Keyboard Is Gone.

When I woke up today to get ready for work, my rooted Z740g was on the beginning tutorial for setting up the phone. While I was asleep the phone reset itself and erased everything I had on the phone storage. When I tried setting up the phone to see what was going on, the default keyboard app was not there! I had to use google voice to download a keyboard app from a website other than the google play store. No one had physical access to my phone and I had no other device sign ins on my google account history. I didn't grant any strange programs super user permission except for android lost. I didn't see any logs in androidlost and it uses my google account to sign in and I wasn't seeing any strange devices on that log. Do you think that this is some strange fluke or some type of malicious attack? My internal storage was almost full and occasionally my phone would reboot on its own and had various small bugs like battery monitoring being inaccurate on occasion. I'm worried about security breaches on my phone because I have seen how easy it is for someone to access the microphone, camera and any files on the device. I removed my sim and had to change all my online passwords.
Would flashing a rom completely remove any malware that might be on the device?
edit: I just noticed that there were two versions of chrome on my phone when I was trying to figure out what happened earlier today. I did notice that chrome looked different. I see a version 39 from before the wipe occurred and now I have version 28.0.1500.94 I looked up release dates and version 28 was released in 2013 and the phone wasn't even released until sometime in 2014. What gives?

Google Assistant deleting home address

I'm at a loss here. I have asked Google for their help and they were useless. I have been using a Samsung Galaxy S8+ (AT&T). It has a feature called SMART LOCK that uses a Trusted Place, which has worked in the past without any issues. For those that don't know or use it, it allows you to keep your device unlocked while your at a trusted place. With that being said, My home address keeps deleting from Google Assistant > Settings> Personal Info> Home & Work Locations. My work location stays here, but my Home Location keeps getting deleted for some reason. I can't figure out what is causing it.
I've deleted it and edited it many times and yet it still happens.I thought it was an app or allowed program, but I went through them and didn't see anything that shouldn't be allowed in my Google account. I have deleted my cache, data and uninstalled updates on all, Google Play Store, Google Assistant as well as a few others. Yet my Home Location keeps on disappearing for no apparent reason. I wouldn't care so much, but I use the Smart Lock feature while home.
I have used Tasker from the play store and set up commands and this didn't even work to unlock phone while at home.
I have wiped my phone many times and it still happens. Does anyone else have this issue or at least know a fix or is this a bug?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Sounds very frustrating. I have not heard of the issue before.
I'm wondering if you have also cleared out your Gmail address/contact info and Google calendar profile, as well?
What happens when/if you create a new alias profile? Will the alias address remain?
I would have to get back to you on that. I haven't tried creating another profile (alias). I can create another Google account and see what happens. I was also wondering if it was a fb so that could be doing it, but I have the same apps on my tablet (running marshmallow) and it doesn't get deleted from there.
Is doing it on my phone and my wife's.

Notifications

Google pixel 3 (not XL) - Three is my provider.
For a number of weeks now I've not been receiving notifications while using data, until the app has been opened or till the phone connects to Wi-Fi.
I have contacted Three, thinking it may be an issue with service of some sort. They've been through loads of different settings (the person I spoke to did seem to know what they were talking about and very useful), but they got to point where they had exhausted everything they could think of.and asked me to turn my phone on and off to see if that helps with some of the settings that had been changed... it didn't.
Since, I've done a factory reset (I'd already tried resetting using the other options), this did didn't help. I've gone through all easy accessible settings to make sure no battery optimizer setting are on (the ones I can find at least), I've gone through all the data settings. But nothing seems to be working.
As soon as my phone connects to Wi-Fi I then get loads of notifications coming through.
Not sure if anybody else is having an issue with this or if it's due to the most recent update as the two seemed to happen to close togethe.
I've tried contacting Google and not had any reply. I'm at a loss of what else I can try hoping somebody on here night have another suggestion please.
