Hey guys just waiting on my Nexus 5 sold my g2 but I really miss the knock knock feature on it. This is my first nexus just wondering how likely is it that we get that feature integrated into a ROM for our nexus 5? Thanks

Maybe if a dev could port it, but you dont buy a Nexus for 'features', they have plain vanilla Android, which has very few. Its not until you get a Nexus that you realise how many features are actually manufacturer add-ons.
Wait for one of the kernel devs to port it to their kernel. Faux and Franco will, as far as I know, get right to it when they receive their Nexus 5. It's not hard to port, we had it on the HTC One X. It's called "Double-tap-to-wake"

When do you guys think sense 5 Roms will be available and ported to the One XL

I would wish people on xda would be a bit more mature I don't need smart ass answers. I know the HTC One is being released in March. Sometimes developers receive them early etc.

How are we supposed to know? Not a smart ass answer, but it's the truth.
Maybe when the One is released a dev can port it, but it's probably going to be a pain in the ass considering the phone is going to be running an entirely different chipset.
Devs on this forum don't receive anything from directly from HTC or another manufacturer btw except any sort of leak, but there hasn't been one around here in ages.
Once the One gets out you'll most likely see a port... I don't think the chipset is going to affect it that much if we have a good kernel
Hey everyone. A sad time indeed. My 1yr old doing his exploring has thrown my beloved one s down the stairs and broke her the case cracked open and some insides were broken. Only faults I can find so far are that my sound no longer works. Speaker nor headset so I am looking to replace her. I bought her the first day T-Mobile released the one s and loved her since having rooted her and running a great 4.2.2 ROM on her since she never left ICS.
Though it brings me to near tears to ask this, does anyone have any recommendations for a new phone? I heard something about a new HTC one series and other thoughts are nexus 4 and galaxy s4. I prefer top of the line devices but easy to root and good ROM supports are a must.

No replies? Hmm damn.
I've narrowed it to either the Nexus 4 or the SG3 if I don't decide to just replace my One S Lol. I really am in love with this phone.

It completely depends on your preference. Hardware is constantly evolving and so are options. You say you love your one s but you need to ask yourself what you love about it. If you love the comfortable sense feeling, you could look into the new htc one, though sense 5 is a vast difference from previous versions. If you want the best hardware on the market go with the s4. If you like the smaller size check out the nexus 4. Personally, I would recommend the S4. Guaranteed huge rom support and as top of the line as you could get this year. Do some research and see what fits you. Im a Note 2 user of about 3 months and love it more every day.

If you can wait a little longer Google will announce the new Motorola X series, perhaps this can be of promise as well.

If you want build quality (emphasis - it is stunning), like HTC's sense rom, want the beats audio/boomsound, and maybe other things I definitely would recommend the HTC One. Even with my perfect-condition One S was contemplating the switch to the One but decided to save money. Since you want a new phone, there's nothing stopping you! The phone is also slightly larger at 4.7" (whereas the One S is 4.3").
Let us know what you choose.
Edit: Awkward didn't realize you had actually bought the Nexus 4 already. Great quality build budget phone that is on the smaller side too. (Just a little outdated as the Nexus 5 is being anticipated but it will still get quick android updates).
In the retail firmware the 360º photo sphere is deleted by samsung.
What do you think the reason guys?
Maybe there is patent related thing? I'm sure the hardware is more than capable to take photo sphere.

I read somewhere that Samsung wants to include this feature on Note 3 first.

I have had the AOSP version (photosphere) on my nexus s since 4.2.2 came out. If this phone can handle it surely the s4 can.
It really is more of a novelty feature anyway. Don't get me wrong it is pretty cool, but it is something that I can count the number of times on one hand that I've used it. Most of those times were just to show how it works to people. It is not a feature that I will miss. YMMV...

Photosphere is actually a Nexus exclusive thing. It's not even included in the source code for AOSP.
That's why you don't see the photosphere on CyanogenMod.
So Samsung is developing their own photosphere and they are making it exclusive for Note 3 first.
Yeah I know that. Same reason that the nexus swype style keyboard doesn't come with vanilla AOSP. I had to install both of those separately. Most people just associate nexus devices with AOSP

The nexus 4 is my first nexus phone and won't be the last. And to be honest I don't think I'll buy anything else but nexus phones from here on. All these other android phones are terrible with bloat and ugly ui skins.

I've had the Galaxy Nexus and the N4 and will never get a non Nexus again
Nexus⁴
Me and my wife both own the Galaxy Nexus, and my son has a Nexus 7. Nothing but Nexus in my house. Always first for OTA's and pure, unadulterated ANDROID...
Galaxy Nexus rockin' AOKP MR1 Build 3 w/ Franco 364.....
Hello,
I only buy Nexus phone, first the Nexus One (live long and prosper), and now the Galaxy Nexus.
Usually they have the best support, good hardware and good price.
the 3 things I consider the most important.
Nexus 7 and 10 here.. Waiting for my Samsung phone to die so I can get a Nexus phone.
Strongly considered the 4, but the non-removable battery and lack of microSD support killed any chance of me owning one.
I got my s3... but really want a nexus now.. I just wish they had expandable memory. Sure a removable battery would be nice, but the memory is the bigger need of the two.. I think Google does that so you use their cloud services.

Look it up. :trooper:
Currently still in my nexus s and ill change to the n4 in july!
Ill never get a non-nexus! ;D
I have an s3 right now...but in the future I will only buy nexus phones, because of good developer support and AOSP.

I do love the look of the Nexus phones, but no micro-sd means I won't buy one, it just tells the manufacturers they can get away with hampering us, so unless Google ever puts expandable storage on, I'll never buy a Nexus device. Flashing another phone to something aosp based is really easy, so Nexus goodness without the drawback
I use a Tab 2 7.0 as a giant phone thats also a tablet aka phablet
I sure hope by the time this thing breaks, Nexus 7 will have proper phablet support, or, there will be a 5" nexus phone.
Have a Galaxy Nexus and a Nexus 7 : Completely Filled ! <3
I think as you all! Better Android stok that have all those changes that slow down devices
My n4 is my first nexus, but I probably won't be getting the next nexus if the continue to skip important features for me like lte, microsd and a larger battery. I actually haven't been so dissatisfied with a phone before.

I currently have an HTC one M7. I recently got a Nexus 7 2013 and I really enjoy straight android. I've been an HTC fan since 2009 and I got the first Hero. I'm wanting to switch to the Nexus 5, just wondering if anyone has come from the One or even Samsung to the LG Nexus line and what your thoughts are. Thanks.

I've owned MANY different devices since I started with Android in 2008 with the G1. All top end devices from HTC, Samsung, Moto.. and every Nexus device but the mako as my carrier (Sprint) failed to carry it. (tear) There's just no comparing anything with a Nexus imo. Rom (& kernel) heaven!! haha! Nothin runs Aosp like a Nex and we have imo the greatest devs on the map!! The Nexus 5 is by far the best Nexus yet!! You will love it!! I prefer it over any device I've owned. Welcome!

Thanks for the response, I have Sprint as well, so its made me a bit leery because of all the problems I've read about getting the N5 to activate on the network.
