Sam here, i had a meesage about S-off /S-on re-downlaoded and re-installed addaway, now it just shows an error of Copying of hosts file failed.
Nexus 5 rooted with chainfire.
I had an error about not able to write to my host file as well. I closed the app, closed all open apps and then redownloaded and reapplied and everything went as usual.
Thanks, closing open apps did the trick.

Barclays have finally released a proper banking app for UK Barclays customers, but I can't use it due to root
I've tried temporary root removers, no joy. I've restored the original unrooted ROM using CWM Recovery, no joy. I'm thinking maybe it checks something deeper like the bootloader or recovery perhaps?
Anyone with any ideas?

I'm afraid we'll have to wait for someone that hacks the app...
Desperate to get this working, bloody root checkers...
There is an oher thread. The workaround is this: with permission denied DENY the barclays get task. Reboot. Then system\xbin hide the su file with es file explorer then rename the superuser.apk.. Like superuser2.apk remember u have to rename the superuser every time after reboot. Cheers

Thank you so much. So far I was only hiding su but once I renamed Superuser.apk to Superuser2.apk it worked like a charm! many thanks

I've seen a few threads asking if it is posible to get this working on a rooted S3 so thought I'd share how I got it running.
Software Needed:
Permissions Denied (free from Play Store)
ES File Explorer (free from Play Store)
Barclays Mobile Banking
Steps:
Now, you may be able to just try the last step. I was messing around and managed to get it working after try all the steps without testing in between.
1: After installing Barclays open Permissions Denied and select Banking (the one with the Barclays logo).
2: Deny the 'android.permission.GET_TASKS'
3: Open ES File Explorer, navigate to '/system/app/' and rename SuperSU to anything you want.
4: Navigate to '/system/xbin/' and long press on 'SU' and select 'Hide' from the menu.
NOTE: if you update the SuperSU binary, you will need to do step 4 again!
That's it! I dont know if it will work for everyone but it works for me. I also dont know if Barclays can solve that with an update so I don't plan on updating the app. I'm not a coder and don't know a lot about tje technical details of Android so if you run in to problems I can only TRY to help you.
I've not tried to use any other apps that block rooted phones but feel free to let me know if this works on other things.
Thanks.

Will this work with the Skygo app?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
I'm not sure. This is the only app I use that checks for root privileges so haven't tested it on anything else.
Could you give it a try and let me know please? If it works for others then this could be a very useful work around.

I've just downloaded SkyGo and the app opens and I get to the TV guide and get the option to watch it of I sign in. I don't have Sky so can't test any further.
I'm assuming it checks for root when it opens so I'd class that as a success!

Thanks for testing im unable to do it myself because when I open it it fc straight away wich is probably something to do with my rom

Hi Faz - Thanks for the info. But when I install permissions, it asks for busybox. I installed busybox but it still says it has not detected busy box please install.
Any advice??
I cant find superSU in system/apps!?. It's not superuser.apk is it?

Permissions Denied is not free anymore
I've posted here how I got it working on my HTC One S, and I'm pretty sure (or hoping) it'll work on any Android phone.
Didn't paste the post here, unsure on if that's allowed.
+1
This worked for me.
Very happy Galaxy S III user.
Thanks Faz1980.
Thank you so much.
Perfect!
This also works on the Galaxy Note II N7105.
One thing...make sure you use the REBOOT command in Permissions Denied after making the change.
superuser has a temp unroot option, it works to avoid root check on dutch live tv app.. try it

Unfortunately since upgrading my SGS3 to zoot1's version of CM10 with 4.2 Gapps, this stopped working for me.
I think this is mainly because zoot1's ROM comes with Superuser and not SuperSU.
However, I followed the instructions on this blog to remove Superuser and replace it with SuperSU.
I still can't get it to work though.
Why do I keep getting this message???
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
I started getting this a bunch earlier today. Phone was incredibly sluggish when this was happening. It took multiple reboots before it stopped and phone started acting like normal
I'm getting the same message quite often running SynergyROM 1.6. Not sure what's causing it.

My GF is on stock (but rooted) and will once in a while get that too... I never do though on Synergy, unless of course I'm trying to access something that needs root.
It has something to do with the superuser binary 3.1.1
Keep superuser installed, download SuperSU from the play store and upon opening it youll get a prompt to update the binary. Do that, uninstall superuser and no more popups, just use supersu instead of superuser from now on.

He does mean literally uninstall superuser. SuperSU and Superuser are both apps used to manage root, they function just about the same. Before you go through the hassle, try updating the binary on Superuser. Open the app, flick to the right to info, click on the third option 'su binary'. The click update on the bottom. I

Do not un-install until after you install supersu. Run that first to give it permissions and to allow it to update. After that you can go into root explorer and delete superuser from the system/apps folder.

Im getting also on a rooted galaxy note but ive not flashed a rom or anything. Just rooted last night but mine seems to hang and then i get the msg. Should i try the same thing that was sugessted? Its kinda annoying
Don't worry about uninstalling Superuser. It's not the actual su binary in linux, it's just a management utility for storing root permissions. You'll keep your root.

This. But you can't keep them both, otherwise they *may* conflict.

Ive installer superSU and updated bianary and still getting this error. Its keeping me from using my keyboard and fcing applications left and right! Its so annoying.
I've also had this issue, and though it seems to have gotten better after a reboot... We'll see if it comes back. I had the same problems with keyboard not appearing and TW FCing along with the phone freezing up. I'm currently on stock rooted using the windows fsdebug app.

Hello,
I've been looking everywhere, and for some time to find a resolution to this issue that I could understand. I have a Samsung Galexy S3 that I've rooted. It has no changes, I only got it to use GameGuardian. While in games, the toast will pop up 3-6 times and then the game will shut down and I'll be back at my menu page. If I reopen the game it works normally. This happens whether or not GameGuardian is running. I am using superuser and have updated the binary. I have also found a post where someone changed to SuperSU and that has not solved the problem for them, but I have not tried this for myself. I'm looking for suggestions on what to do next. Also, I'm not very savvy, so please don't assume I know all the in-between steps. Leave anything out on the assumption that I should know it, and I'm going to get lost.
Thanks much
I am stock, rooted and running dalvik.
I have downloaded "de.robv.android.xposed.installer_v25_3_6cbbc.apk" and "de.robv.android.xposed.installer_v25_3_6cbbc-1.apk"
I get the same problem with either. The package installs but will not go active. I can get into the app but there is a red warning that the latest version is not active. Click on the Framework button and try the install/update button. The app stops responding and I get a wait or close pop-up. Same when I try the "soft reboot" and the "reboot" button. I have powered off after the install to no affect. It shows two items under Versions "app_process" with a red dash under the active column and a 47 under the bundled column and "XposedBridge.jar" with a 42 under the active and bundled columns.
Are there any other compatibility issues other than ART that I am not aware of? Anything else I should be checking on?
thx
Sounds like it is denied root access.
Check your superuser application to make sure it's not blocked

Thx, I updated the supersu version and that solved the problem.
OK so when I use the built in super su privacy manager Adfree works. But with SuperSu it loads and loads and loads, then says successful but the host file remains unmodified and add still remain. Any ideas please. Ads are getting boring.
