Is there a fix to the giant ass icons with the new kitkat? Its driving me insane :-/
I think I'm just gonna continue with nova launcher and just download a kit kat icon pack since you can adjust the side on there.

Do you notice a significant drop in battery life with Apex Launcher? I am using CM10 and get good battery life, but when I installed NOVA launcher my battery life cut in half easily. Just wondering how the other launchers are?

I always use Nova Launcher when on an AOSP ROM, which is almost all the time. I don't think Nova hurts my battery life either. I use multiple themes too. A few of my favorites are Mixer, Cobalt, and Vivid. I use a few more but those are always in the rotation.
If I'm using Sense, it's Liamstears theme for Viper ROM.

Nova Prime and Kovdev Tersus icons.
Im running viperxl 3.0 with sense+ and RedVenom theme. Blazing fast, super stable, impressive batterylife.
Anyone see the IIDA Rom? Different take with the tiled apps and no app drawer! I returned back to viper as I have grown fond of sense again.
love ya xo
I like sense too, viper xl , icons by me, submitted them, added a handful more icons, so hopefully ill be making lots of icons for the tweaks.

Hello guys,
I am on android kit kat right now and I can tell you many reasons why it is poor cosmetically.
First it looks like they took jelly bean and slapped a kit kat wrapper on it:
Look at the settings app, it has some blue colored toggles. Wait...... The new stock color base is white. What gives?
Now, the transparency issues. I like the transparent status bar a lot. But slide down the notification center. Its solid. That's right solid, they should make it transparent so the UI actually go in sync.
That's all i can think of right now. So anyone with a nexus or running a custom rom comment below if they think something is a little off in Googles new OS.

Yes, its not perfect, but its getting there. Im sure when they hit 5.0 they will implement a lot more continuity into Android.
I suppose its Google just testing the water

Someone will create a CM theme that fits 4.4 KK theme.
It's not perfect but I personally enjoy it.

I think the biggest mistake I did google both have chosen to no longer support the galaxy nexus.
Saluti,

Is there a basic launcher that allows trasparency on non-rooted Nexus 5? I used Holo Beta from the playstore before but it does not seem to work on Kit Kat. 4.4.2
Thanks folks!

I think you need more details than this? If you're non-rooted, does that mean you are on stock ROM as well?
If you're on stock, the base standard out-of-the-box launcher supports transparent navigation bar and status bar? You can't get much more basic than out-of-the-box!
If you don't mean navigation bar and status bar, which transparency are you referring to?
Or do you mean "basic" as in lighter and simpler than the stock launcher?
Action launcher
All of the major launchers have transparent top and bottoms. If not download nova beta, apex, etc. They should be up to date by now. My personal favorite is nova but it is your choice.
Hope this helps, please clarify if this is not what you were asking.
Yeah I kind of posted without checking what I wrote... Duh.... I meant transparent themes.... I was on carbon 4.2.2 on my galaxy s2. I may end up just rooting to get more goodies... I am loving stock right now. Got 4.5hours sot yesterday!

Is there any way to get a dark system wide ui on stock nexus 5 rom? I know there is team black out but that's app by app. I know there is slim kat too but I'm wondering if there is a theme or any way to do something like that on stock.
Thanks
Don't think so. Did you check themes and apps section?

Which launcher do you prefer on Lollipop? Are they even fully compatible yet? I heard that Nova works fine, how about Next Launcher 3D? It really looked awesome on older Android versions.
I've used SS Launcher for 3 years and won't give it up. Everything seems compatible except the status bars are translucent not transparent. I've heard this is an issue with most other launchers, so I'm just hoping developers can fix this.

Apex works great
Nova is the best.
When the phone is in Battery saving mode whit the stock launcher there are slowdowns, whit nova no.

Nova FTW
I gave up using other launchers years ago, most of them had problems and drain the battery, which is bad enough on the n5. How is nova these days regarding the battery? Any bugs, random force close ?
I love nova. Even if I'm not using it as my homescreen, I always have it installed because those nova activities are very useful to call from within other apps.
Nova

Novas great as ever on LP
I just tried Nova again and still can't get into it. Compared to SS Launcher it seems to lack a lot of customization (although I only tried the free version). Things that SS does that I couldn't find in Nova:
1. Different image on each screen.
2. Grid down to the pixel (much finer than 12x12)
3. Font selection for icon text
SS hasn't seemed to figure out the transparent nav bars yet, but supposedly they are working on it. They were fine in Kitkat. Sticking with SS for now.
I've been using TSF Shell for quite some time. It's got a bit of a price tag though which turned me off at first. One day I impulsively made the purchase, and I'm honestly glad I did.
Update of SS launcher to Total Launcher is awesome! YouTube link: Total Launcher: http://youtu.be/bKvKune0DeE
