[GAME] Guitar Hero like game in development - Android Apps and Games

Hello every1.
I decided to start making android games, as I already have made some apps in java, but the problem is I have barely used Unity so I encounter a bunch of problems.
So far, I have a working guitar hero game with a spectrum visualizer background, so far it looks like this:

Unfortunately, I am stuck and I need help.
The visualizer isn't synced with the music for some reason and I can't seem to fix it. Also I would like to be able save the highscore somehow.
For now, I just compiled this for windows to be easier to test this.
No viruses whatsoever:

Here it is, please test it out and need feedback. Of course it's far from done, also, a few notes are a bit off,but for a test,it's okay.

If any1 would like to help me, I would be very happy!

[REQ] Tide prediction app

Hi Guys,
I’m looking for a good tide prediction app to use on my HD2 when I’m out fishing. I’ve had a play with ctide but it doesn’t get on with the HD2 very well. It works but the screen layout is a bit screwed up.
Please google ctide for info. I tried to post a link to the site but the forum rules won't let me!
What I'd ideally like is somebody much smarter than me to tweak the code to work on the HD2 (and rotate when i move the HD2) or take the xtide reference data that ctide uses and write their own wonder app.
I hope somebody fancies this challenge and gives it a go. I'll happily test and report back on any apps people come up with.
Thanks guys!
Hi,
i don't know, if it fits your needs, but have a look at http://iphone.magicseaweed.com in opera mobile. you need an internet connection, because it is a website, but you can see worldwide swell charts, period charts, wind charts and city based forecasts on a day-by-day base including the tide.
greetings,
malte

I'd like to have an application like that as well - also for fishing

Same here. I miss the TideApp on my G1. I hope cTide isn't all there is to offer. I really need a tide app for fishing as well. I hate looking through the book and calculating.
Add me to the request list. And my request is for more than just fishing. I'm a Hydrographic Surveyor and need to know what the tides are doing on a daily basis.
Do you have any idea how embarrassing it is that my wife has a Tide Prediction on her Iphone and there's nothing for WinMo?!?!?
There's even one for Android now??

Starcraft on Leo is fun. =)

Been playing this on my HD2, while it takes time getting used to, it makes so many of my friends drool. Hehe.
I hope they keep making changes on it. Anyone else play or have other rts that work great on the leo?
Would love to see more games come over and play well. =)
Anyone seen the warcraft one? Age of Empires?
Tho these games are a port like and not so much the orig, its rather run still and close enough. =)
Thanks awesome site ^^
great link, thanks.
Did you install to device or sdcard? I tried sd install and it installs fine but freezes in game after selecting single player. Gonna try device install
**Edit** Dang still freezing up on me, wonder why...
can't play campaign mode?
i know this isn't the troubleshooting spot.
but anyone else unable to play campaign mode?
Thanks! Great links!!
Sorry for my stupid question, but its my first ported game on my HD2. How to control the units?

I am not able to play campaign mode either Might be removed so that the game didn't take up too much space on the device
I tried it some time ago on my HD2, but it's not so easy to play this game without a resistive touch and stylus pen.
On my old Samsung Omnia I played also warcraft II and PalmHeroes, great games but unplayable on a capacitive screen for me...
I can only get Starcraft working. I also been just playing Custom maps. (Top vs Bottom) when I played.
Warcraft the resolution is off... and Age of empires went back to home screen. So meh.. Unless anyone else got it working?
Tho seems the site has some more games on it. But I want some good RTS!
Starcraft to control units.. sadly you gotta tap and hold to draw a box, or click the unit then click the action icon then where. Its not like click unit and click screen and it auto does it. Scrolling the map is meh too but HEY! Its Starcraft on the leo and it works!
Oh and I installed to SD card. (Rem Not that I think it matters, but I am on energy rom)
yeah, itsa bit tricky to get use to the controls.
but why complain, amirite? its a good game
even if we can only play custom matches...
So I've been interested in this for a while -- What exactly is it? Is it custom games, with custom maps, or is it just one map, or what part of the full game is it?
FYI i just discovered that the site you are linking to is a warez site. They have a game called tower defence, which you are able to download for free, I payed 15 dollars for the exact same game. If these games are warez too then you are breaking a pretty serious rule on XDA.
Is it? If a mod has a issue on the site, then let the link be removed. I know the starcraft one is a project, just in russian, so thats why I gave the other site that I had found for a easier download for people.
Also that tower defense game.. I tried... didnt work. Alot of things I saw on the site are useless for the HD2..
But basically I just wanted to give you all the starcraft and so.
I play Warcraft 2 alot (dug my old cd out to give it a bash, what do you know, it worked!)
Its awsome!
Realy shouldnt be posting Warez on the site tho, no matter what the reason but im sure a moderator will check and sort it out.
I must actualy thank you, didnt realise Age of Empires was also available!
Off I go to dig out AOE! Lol
Happy times!
where are the links? I can't see em :O
Just got my HD2 (USA) yesterday
Links got removed, but if you google it you can find the ru site easy enough that does the project =)
Great! Job

[Q] Where to go from here? (programming)

I have been programming with Java for about 6 years now. I am currently getting my masters in college for Computer Science (Programming).
I just finished reading the book Hello, Android by Ed Burnette. It was a pretty good book I must say and got me on my feet towards developing for an Android device. For those who do not know the book, each chapter you gradually build a Sudoku game. In the later chapters it discusses some openGL, sound, video. Overall the game is pointless and a waiste.
I never really liked game programming, I wish to do something such as tools, or a feature. However I have hit a roadblock and do not know where to go from here or what to read. I get the structure of the app, the XML setups, etc but the book did not give me a good enough background on the Android System for what I would like to do.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help in advanced.
Travmanx I think the way to go from here is use your Java experience to assist in unlocking these phones. I know these guys that are doing the hard work would appreciate all the help they can get.

I'm very new to android programming too and I agree there does seem to be a big gap in going from the usual tutorials and guides to really getting your feet wet and digging into proper coding.
I think the key here is to think of a simple idea and start to program it, by choosing something simple you can get the basics working quickly, while still giving you room to experiment further with extra features and improvements later on (where the real learning happens).
As to what idea... that is more difficult, I would suggest you do something which you will use so that you've got a drive to keep working on it and improve it.
i.e. If you travel, then a quick currency converter could be useful...if you play tennis then perhaps a score board...it doesn't matter much as long as the incentive is there to code it.
Look forward to hear what you decide to write!

first of all +10 for ^ meltwater
i did an app to (scoreboard) for a card game, instead of using paper and pen.
then:
i am a Java Developer to,
and recently started doing some android apps
i already have 2 of them in the market...
i am just like you, don't like to do games, i prefer tools and other staff...
however, my point is, whenever you can build an app whatever it is,... all you need now is an idea
try to find an idea and start developing it, and on every problem you face try to dig and fix it, then continue on ur main target... otherwise i don't see any advantage of reading more books, because you have to find something to do, then try to find how to do it (based on your input with 6 years java dev)
otherwise i think you will get lost.
my opinion, find an idea and start with it, then fix every block you face.
Good Luck

Interactive Photo/Video - Advice please

Hello All
I am currently doing a project at school for art, and i would love to explore art in the future.
I would love to create a simple app (seems simple in my head!) but i would love to ask you for some pointers and some advise.
I am very confident with computers, and have built websites and learnt code before etc.
I cant really find examples of what i am trying to achieve on the android app.
What i would love to create is an image that is manipulable by touch. The only way ive seen it done before is done by image software (like burning or streching) but i would like it to be real.
For example if i video a balloon or rubber texture, and touched it with a 'green' finger in order to only show to action of touch.
And then have an image that would recreate the image of where i am touching it.
I.e i want a picture or image that can be touched, but react as if i did actually touch it (or filmed that way)
does this make scene?
If so are there any examples of this, and could you advise how i would start this project and what i could build this on.
Many thanks for any replies,
I look forward to your responses!
Thanks
(if it doesn't make sense please ask me to reiterate!)

Looking for a tutorial

Hi everyone i am new to android and i want to learn how to make android apps and games, is their a official link to a tutorial or pdf for the android studio that i could use to learn and master android studio, or if there is a respected community developer who has made a set of videos to teach and explain android studio to novices i would much appreciate a link to that youtube channel.
some background on me.
I have no programming experience at all.
i dont know any of them programming terms
my best skill would be inspecting a webpage and removing any line of code that gets in my way such as an addvert or popup etc but thats as far as it goes.
i should start with this .
I had tried becoming a game creator some years back but i was a complete novice i couldn't even find how to download and install the studio program so i gave up but the ideas for games with either an amazing storyline or funny storyline would always come to me but i would always shrug it off.
now with covid-19 ruining everything im jobless and i also have a lot of free time. i believe it would be very advantageous to learn something amazing during this time, i could wish i came here this time last year but regardless im here now
i decided to post this in xda forums as anytime in the past when i had a problem on my phone and id ask google for a solution i'd always get a link to some article or an xda-forum page which would explain and help how to fix said problem while i was their i could see that this website was really interested in android apps games etc
thank you in advance
