Easy Stable Rom Suggestions for GF - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey Guys,
My girl has been complaining that her phones been slow and laggy and asking me to "fix" her phone.
I want to throw on a custom rom for her, but need something stable and not buggy at all because she can not trouble shoot herself at all.
I run a cherry picked version of Slimbeam on my ATT s3, but don't know what's popular for you Verizon guys.
I was thinking CleanRom for something not too different then what she is used for but wanted to see if anything else is popular.
I think she doesn't need ASOP being so used to Touchwiz, but definitely want something bloat free etc.
Thank for your help getting me some points with the misses,
Alex

Jellybeans v19 has been what I keep coming back to for the S3. TW based.

If your doing TW then JellyBeans or BoneStock. If you want AOSP, Carbon Rom 10/28.

If she wants TW go with BoneStock, my gf loves it with the purple theme. If she wants aosp go Slim.

Been running and updating Beantown's Jelly Bean ROM since it came out for myself and my wife's phone. To say she (my wife) is technically inclined would be the overstatement of the century however she likes it as opposed to stock. Nice aesthetics and customization but close enough to home she won't get lost.

I have been using tkrom for a while. I love it. Real smooth.

I agree, smoothest rom I've run so far. Couldn't be happier.

Sorry folks, these threads get shut as they always spiral into arguments about which rom is "best"
Users are expected to try them and make their own independent determination as to what suits them.

[Q] What is the best JellyBean based TouchWiz Rom and why?

I really like TouchWiz on GS3 but since we have no idea when VZ is going to approve the JB version of it (hopefully soon, but who knows), I like to know which current Rom you guys think is the best.
Of course this is very subjective, but everything is on the table.
I'm looking for answers along the lines of:
I prefer rom-X
Pros: its fast, unbloated and stable
Cons: 3G/4G handoff is hit or miss, camera app is poor.
Something along those lines would be great.
Thanks in advance

Flash each and try it yourself. JB ROMs seem to have random issues that some people experience. Nandroid your current setup and give a few a shot. It's the best way to find out what works for you, and not for others.
Personally I like clean rom the best.
Everything works on the 2.5 version. Extremely stable, great battery life.

Of course I'm already doing that, I'm looking at JellyWiz now. However it can take days to put a rom through its paces
I just wanted to get some opinions from others. For example I might only talk on my phone once or twice a month(I mostly use sms). I wouldn't want to leave town, decide to make a phone call and find out that the 9 button on the dialer doesn't work. Conversely, for the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would want to use voice search (S-voice, Siri, whatever). If that happens to be broken in a specific rom I couldn't care less.

I agree with you. However, not everyone is experiencing the same issues as everyone else. You've got to see what debilitating issues your phone has
Jellywiz is definitely top notch. Has all the amenities that I wanted in a jb touchwiz rom. Coming from a galaxy nexus, its as close to perfection as I could get. But like its been said, try them out for yourself

Jellywiz is the best in my opinion. It's super fast and stable, I'd use it on a daily basis but I'm not a fan of TouchWiz.

Cleanrom is an ICS touchwiz rom. It should be very stable.
Jellybean is being built without source, Jellywiz has been running great. Minor flaws but they vary from person to person, phone to phone. The best way is to backup and give them a try!! Your the only one that can decide what's stable enough for you.

[Q] Stable ICS Rom Links please!

Hello, I finally got my wife to agree to let me root and put a custom rom on her infuse, currently running froyo. I just rooted it last night and was looking around for some stable ICS roms. I found lots of discussions about which roms were best but had a somewhat more difficult time finding the links to said roms. And stability is a must here as she knows absolutely nothing about messing around with phones. Also GPS and Bluetooth are absolute musts as well. She finally agreed to let me do this after seeing galaxy s2 running CM9. So I was kinda leaning towards a cm9 rom, a lot of the ones I saw though listed Bluetooth problems so I was wondering whose cm9 would be best for what I'm looking for here. That being said I am open to all stable ICS roms, not just tunnel visioned on cm9. So, if you all give me some good stable ICS rom, and their links, I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Just my 2 cents worth.......been d/l ROMs since GB........the JB ROMs that are out now are more stable than ICS.
Edit: biggest problem is, most of the Devs have moved on to JB.
ICS and jb both have camera recording problems... so jwep that in mind, jb has a slow but working GPS

In addition to the above comments. I would also caution you about future wife beatings and crazy ass tandrums if your giving a rooted phone to her. I know your asking about ICS, and some are suggesting Jellybean, however the best thing you can do for her is to put a rooted Gingerbread ROM like the following and just yank out whatever junk you don't want and keep it running smoother then stock!:
- Infused 2.2.3 (Extremely stable ROM that i used as my daily driver without incident for almost a year! Disadvantage is that it is no longer being developed. But really, it doesn't need anything else done to it.. absolutely everything just works!)
- Aeon (This is one of the newer Gingerbread ROM's that is still being updated and mantained. Also a very stable ROM where everything just works. The downside in my opinion is the Themeinig that is build into the ROM. Great for most, but not for everyone.)
Both of the above are excellent choices for a wife! And they are both built off of stock firmware so everything works.
Believe me, i would normally never reccomend someone go back to Gingerbread, but as she is coming from Froyo she will notice a big improvement. Also, from one man to the next. I can tell you, my bigest mistake was replacing my wifes crack berry with my older rooted X10. It was great for me, but for her she just wants things to work. The second something doesn't work, she turns into the hulk! I absolutely love to tinker and i'm never done messing with my phone, but don't assume your wife will appreciate the challenges as much as you would! I ended up just putting it back to bone stock and gave it to her with the understanding that she was not to complain to me anymore! LOL
Oh one last thing.. the saying really is true.. "A happy Wife is a happy Life!" LOL

[Q] New to S3. ROM advice?

I just got my s3 yesterday and this is my first samsung devices, but I'm not new to android. Now I know that I could do my own research, but I'm hoping for some advice/info from those willing to share. I'm already rooted with an unlocked boot loader, so now I'm looking for a ROM. What's your favorite ROM/kernel combination for speed and stability, if you're OC'd, what app do you use (i.e. kernel tuner), and what in particular do you like about that ROM?
Also, any general info about the s3 that I should know would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
please do a search and read through the threads. there are guides with impressions all over the place.
everyone needs something different out of their rom so there is nobody who can answer this question except for you.
make sure youre rooted, and your bootloader is unlocked.
these threads get closed frqeuently.

Instead of giving you the same run-of-the-mill find yourself answer here's my opinion. If you're into aosp ROMs liquid smooth, aokp and paranoid seem to be the best. Me personal e, I like TouchWiz just because they seem to have the least amount of bugs. Jelly beans, axis and hyperdrive have the most customizing options, but the general consensus for stability and performance is clean rom. Jelly beans is TouchWiz with an aosp look. But clean rom is definitely the most stable. As far as kernels go the big two are kt 747 and lean kernel. You can't really go wrong with either one. 747 has a higher overclocking rate and a application to tweak the settings provided with it. Leankernel is set straight out the box and use an aftermarket CPU Tweaker of your choice to tune it. Hope this helps.

1. These threads tend to get shut down a lot since a lot of new S3 users keep posting them.
2 . You are going to get either the "find it yourself " response or be recommended the popular ROMs which are Jelly Beans, Cleanrom, Liquid Smooth, AOKP, Carbon, Axis and Paranoid Android which is okay as long as it is what you want.
3. AOSP 4.2 ROMs don't have a strong signal strength like Touchwiz.
The reality is that there are a lot more ROMs then the standard fare that keeps getting recommended for both TW and AOSP. There is Plasma, Hellsrom, MDOB , Sons Of Android, Pure Google, Xtremeperia, and so much more that I can't think of them now. My question to you is what do you want in a ROM? The reason I asked this question is I find A LOT more helpful to make recommendations based on your interest rather randomly saying "[insert popular ROM here] is awesome!".

I agree with Shaftamle... I downloaded Hero's AxisM rls18 this morning and been using/playing with rom. It is beast. Hyperdrive is another good one. There is also Plasma VIII and Synergy, also very good. My best experience with kernels is lean kernel, but I am trying Zeus' newest version. Seems to be working well and good battery life.
I wish there was an update for Verizon's Wicked Sensations... I used v2.0-F for a long time and loved it.

Personally I've had my run of the mill with CleanROM releases, Synergy, and Liquid myself. Mostly using the stock kernal or K747. But I've been quite fond lately and been going back and forth on Sbreen's Hyperdrive releases dating back to RLS5. Granted his RLS10 may be a little premature with the manual MMS fix you have to do, its a little power hungry this time around, but definitely gives us a nice look and speedy feel from the upcoming S4. Currently running Hyperdrive RLS11 with his built Zeus kernal. :good:

I debloated mine by rooting and installing ROM Toolbox. Got rid of everything including the Launcher and replaced it with Google Now launcher and uninstalled everything off of that list of "safe to remove" apps. Even got rid of the IQ crap. It runs gloriously now, almost like GPE. The only thing driving me crazy is the stupid square icons for the Phone and Contacts against all the standard icons.
Slim
Yeah. Anything stock would be great, and of course Android L sooner
I would love to see an international based ROM cause it wouldn't have carrier IQ. But I would be just as happy to see a streamlined stock with carrier IQ removed ??
SlimKat
I side loaded the new Google Play with the material design and I too would love to get all kinds of L on my phone.
I'm going to go off topic, because I started the thread and i can do that
Did anybody seriously contemplate selling their AT&T model for a t-mo just to have the unlocked bootloader to begin with? I, for one, learned a valuable lesson with my Galaxy S5, I sold my att one for a t mo and Not only was it a Hassel but then I came to find out that the phone got black listed on t-mobile which made it un sellable on swappa (where I bought the phone to begin with) THEN the att one was unlocked like a month later. my lesson was, BE PATIENT. these devs are unbelievable and are capable of just about anything. We all win today. HAPPY UNLOCKED DAY MY G3 FLASHAHOLICS.
One more huge THANK YOU to all the hard working devs that made ask this possible
Edit

So I would like some ROM Opinions.

Hey boys and girls! It's been a bit of awhile since I've posted. I've had my Tmobile Note 5 since the day of release and I've loved this phone ever since day 1! As of right now Im currently running a Sky High kernel and N5 Express. Unfortunately my Note 5's time has come and I've pre ordered the S8 Plus, so I'll just be pretty much using it more or less as a personal media device or maybe for bluetooth lol. I understand that each developer here has their own purpose to each and every ROM but I just sorta want some info from some of you people in the T-Mobile section. What are you running? Why do you prefer it? I know how to flash so I don't really need any assistance in that. Shoot. I've been customizing phones ever since the PPC6700 . Your opinions are much appreciated!
Hi mate, my 2 cents here, I have been using darkstalker rom for a while, it's a stock based rom with all the bells and whistles that you would expect from a custom rom.. Its becoming outdated but I use it mainly for the stability, I hadn't a single crash since I installed it, impressive.. I wouldn't mind an update though, but the developer is no longer updating it. Just my 2 cents..

I'm currently on Khongloi's S8 Nougat and its running pretty good. the issues that was in v4 have been worked out in v5. There's also an issue with Titanium Backup not seeing that your phone is rooted but there's a fix for that as well. I have been using it for a few days and I must say, I'm very impressed with the ROM. Once Nougat comes out to our phones (any day now......) then development will open up again.
Sounds good

Very nice I will have to mess around with that S8 rom too! Makes me stoked for my new one to come . I appreciate the information and I look forward to taking a part into that development aswell!
I was formerly using Darthstalker, but I've since moved to Nemesis Rom for some hands on with Nougat. While I like the rom itself I miss the full range of customization that Darthstalker has. The closest thing that I've seen in terms of customization is NN8 Rom but I've yet to get call audio working on it.
