Hi guys
As you may have noticed; I have a HTC One X+ (4.2.2)
I ain't super experienced when it comes to rooting, but neither a complete stranger.
There is a guide on Youtube from "zedomax" that I followed. The first problem was; I couldn't acces my HTC on my mac. After a few tries it did. I got the token to unlock the bootloader, and unlocked the device succesfully. I had to copy a file to my HTC (I searched the web for the latest "supersu" and the "clockworkmod". The clockworkmod said "OKAY". I went in to fastbootmode, and when I try to start the cwm recovery (by choosing recovery in fastbootmode) my HTC One X+ just decides to turn off (in a state charging is impossible) when I turn the phone back on, it starts the normal way. I have been searching for ages to find a solution, and would be surprised if someone actually knew what's wrong.
Guide I followed: can't use link
- I tried windows and mac
So please, help me out here (and others with the same problem)

Have you tried TWRP? Remember, not all recoveries work on all phones.

I haven't
I did find a useful guide on xda. I wonder if it is still up to date and if I can continue from a step halfway, since the phone is already unlocked?
Anyway. I will find out.
but thanks for the advise anyway

Hi everybody,
after endless nights and days of experimenting and crying I ask for your help.
My Aim: rooting my HTC One S C2.
So here is my story:
In my first attempt I unlocked my bootloader and tried to put a Custom Recovery on my phone. It failed. I got always stuck at the HTC screen with the red writing underneath the logo ("This build is for ...").
I then found out that I need the superboot.bat to root my phone.
So I proceeded to re-lock my phone and put a RUU on it to get back to the original Recovery.
All went well, so I unlocked my phone again via htcdev.com.
After that I tried to run the superboot.bat but again I am stuck at the HTC screen with the red writing!
I know that this screen should only appear for a few seconds and the phone should go into recovery but I am always stuck endless in this screen. To get out of it I have to soft reset my phone.
So I am not able to root it.
In a video I saw that on other phones the HTC screen with red writing has some kind of a "loading bar" on the upper right which appears after trying to access the recovery.
Well this bar doesn't even appear on my phone
Please help me I really don't know what to do further
same issue here, so subscribing to thread!
If you can get to download mode try to flash stock firmware with Odin. Search for a guide on youtube.
--------------------------------------------
Sent from my GT-S5830 running ImaGinary ICS.
Thank if it helped. It's there for a reason
Ähm isn't Odin for Samsung devices?
This is about HTC... Or does it work for both?
i recommend reading through this guide to rooting the one s. i've rooted quite a few phones using this method and it has worked flawlessly every time
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427
@HidaKureku - thats where i've got stuck; end of part two.
the recovery image seems to flash fine (both of them), and i've done the CWM recovery multiple times (some sites sugest that it works on the second attempt).
try to boot to recovery, and as per the OP it just sits there saying that it's for "This build is for HTC use only..." or whatever it says. no further. I've left it for 10mins in this state have have to power it off.
i have found that when i boot back to the UK retail ROM, it comes up with an error and wants to send it to HTC (i haven't yet been able to grab the error though).
has anyone sucessfully flashed recovery with the hboot 9.02.0001 image? i've seen a post on modaco with a user having the same problems as in this thread....
are you sure you're model has the S4 processor? if not, try this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785777&highlight=twrp
looks like i'm on the s3 version! twrp2 doesn't work either - same issue. (using openrecovery-twrp-2.2.2.0-ville.img)
seems the UK is one of these 'select' countries.
anyway - even an S3 compatible recovery isnt working....
I hope in not threadjacking here. @OP - if im intruding let me know and i'll create my own thread
No you are not intruding as I have exactley the same problem as you!
I'm glad that I'm not the only one I started to think I'm doing something completely wrong.
It's like the stock recovery is damaged even with the RUU version.
I just cannot get past this screen with the red warning!
My HTC One S is kind of new (about 3 weeks old). Maybe something changed with new models?
good news; i'm recovery-ed
you need 'openrecovery-twrp-2.2.2.1-villec2.img'.
It was 'tricky' to find, as the 'villec2' image doesnt appear to have any public links. As per the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785777, Get 'goomanager', allow it to find and download recovery image, however, it wont sucessfully apply with goomanager (you dont have root yet).
It will download this recovery image to to /mnt/sdcard/goomanager/ (you can change/confirm it in goomanager menu options)
mount storage & copy this to your computer. Use fastboot to flash as per the unlock/recovery/root guide.
i dont mind hosting the file, but the above should be the quickest way
Yes!!!
That's it!!
Thank you so much
You made my day
Thread can be marked as solved!
now that you know you have the s3 processor be careful which roms you flash, make sure they are compatible with your version. the rom i'm running (check my signature for the link) is supposed to be compatible with both. but just read carefully and flash responsibly

Thanks for the heads up, although that JB ROM in your sig says S4 in the title (thats about as far as i got )
@Schlengge - glad your sorted too i didnt even realise i was on s3 untill tonight; i thought all UK HOS's were s4's - seems not.
yeah XD i went back and looked at it and realized i got it confused with one rom i saw that was supposedly compatible with both processors (which struck me as odd) but there are a few roms out there for the s3, sadly not as many as for the s4, but you should be able to find one you're happy with. best of luck

well, thanks for that advice. It is kinda confusing to find a recovery for c2 version of the ONE S, cause any other recovery will not work with it. The twrp-team should definatly add the link to that on their website.
Hi friends
im new here so this is my second post considering my earlier one i got no reply, what i want is help from any android expert in solving my problem. see i recently got the HTC one X plus and unlocked the bootloader, and installed clockwork mod recovery and rooted my phone. now when i receive the offical jb ota update, i cannot update it and it says error and i abort the installation and then reboot the phone in clockwork mod. and by the way all this unlocking and rooting is done thanks to Hasoons2000 tool kit, bless that developer who made this toolkit. so after researching reading many forums and find out that we have to use stock recovery image for htc one +. to fix the problem , i cant find any One X + stock recovery image all i can see are htc one X stock recovery image. but i need the one specific to my phone model.
Also it would be of great help if you show me the process of using stock recovery on hasoons2000 toolkit for oneX+
Since i dont want to risk bricking my expensive phone. so guys if you have the solution to my problem please do help me out.!!
why isnt anyone helping out. or didnt try it

I am a complete novice at playing with android phones but thought i`d have a play. I bought a htc one m7 that was not working and sent it to htc to repair which they did but ,apparently the phone had been bootloaded and they put this back on the repaired phone. Hence when i got it back , it all worked but i could not make calls. Sooo after reading some forums i tried to put a new rom on it, Android Hd one 84.0. Now the phone is stuck in a boot/recovery loop and is not recognised on my computer!! i`ve tried to adb sideload but this doesnt seem to load. Unfortunatley i didnt back up the the data before i done all this. Please help as im using an iphone and its killing me!!!!

Maybe it's just a bootloop and not a brick.
(Bootloop = neverending booting process, brick = either the download or the recovery mode doesn't work any more)

Good luck !
Thanks. Have tried all of your suggestions but no joy. Having read the suggestions I noticed it said about re locking the boot loader before installing a rom? If i say exactly what I done maybe I somebody may be able to tell me my errors?
Unlocked using htcdev and rooted. Tried to get s-off using rum runner but it failed with a message"unfortunatley this isn't going to work out with your configure, you have 2 options
1) flash an unsecure kernel that's compatible with your rom
2)flash a different rom.
Have tried to reinstall Android hd one 84.0 from recovery mode, Get a message on installation page at the end saying set_metadata_recursive:some changes failed.
On reboot it goes straight to recovery page and if I go into fast boot the phone shows in the device manager but not as a drive???

Ok, best to post in your device's help/Q&A forum ... with as many details as possible to get proper help.

Thread closed and thank you.
First of all I did check other forums, etc. before coming here. I also spent countless hours researching the rooting process. Here is my problem:
I'm attempting to root an HTC One x+ (AT&T) that I purchased on amazon. I'm using a Windows 8.1 system, and The latest Windroid tool (v2.3). With the tool I was able to unlock bootloader. The next step (flash a recovery) is where I believe I made my mistake. For my phone there was 2 choices (global and AT&T). I hence learned that my phone is evitare-ul, so I should have used the AT&T version, but I flashed it with the Global TWRP. I also made some errors in that I somehow wiped out the stock ROM (still don't know how that happened). I posted a question in the HTC One x+ forum, and was answered by LLoir (Thank you). The response was:
"You need TWRP for the EVITAREUL and then use the sideload function to put a rom on, also you need to manually flash the boot.img in fastboot. There's no MTP for TWRP Evitareul hence the reason for sideload."
Being new to "rooting" I wasn't sure what Llior was saying, ergo all the research. OK, so I found the TWRP-evitare-ul, but it WON'T FLASH! (Via Windroid). Windroid says it worked, but there is no recovery installed. I am however able to flash and remove the "global TWRP". Lloir answer also referenced 'NO MTP for TWRP evitareul", so I assume it is indeed the global TRWP I had flashed (it does has MTP wish I can enable or disable). When "enabled" my windows computer sees my phone, when "disabled" it doesn't see anything connected. I Need Help in Finding a way to Flash the "TWRP - evitareul" onto my phone.
A related issue is that after each Flash attempt when I attempt to reboot The screen on my phone changes from the "bootloader" screen to the "htc" screen And nothing more. Windroid is waiting and waiting and waiting. I end up pressing the power and volume down button combo to get back to bootloader. With the "global TWRP" I can boot to recovery, but I am in limbo when I try to flash with the "TWRP evitareul". It never installs! I'm guessing I have a booting issue.
Based on various forum articles I believe I'm to get the "Boot.img" to flash when I exe the rom file? I really rather just have the "zip" version I can use with Windroid. I'll need guidance and help there.
As it stands right now I have unlocked bootloader and apparently have the wrong TWRP installed. I have issues with my phone being recognized by my computer, and at various times my computer states there is a problem with windroid (when phone connected via usb). Is using a windows 8.1 system an issue. I can go to my old XP
In summary I need:
1) Find a way to flash the correct TWRP into my HTC One x+
2)be able to flash a ROM (MagioRom).
3)Flash the boot/img.
Guidance and help is appreciated. At least point me in the right direction. This is why I posted here. Please excuse my ignorance. Thanks

Hi!
So, as i did not find a specific Question Forum for the HTC U11 i'll post my question here.
I hope this is okay.
If not plese direct me to the right location.
Thanks.
So, as i'm a real newbee with Smartphones and stuff, perhaps the Solution to this whole Problem is really easy.
I tried googeling it, but i only found older(4-6 Years old) Threads with no real solution (or anything which made any sense to me)
for the Problem, so i thought i just ask here.
I used the guide at Android Soul to Root my HTC U11(as i can't post a link to that, the Sections there were "How to unlock bootloader on HTC U11" and "How to Install TWRP recovery on HTC U11"
which i did without a problem).
Everything worked fine, until i got to the 3rd Point "How to Root HTC U11".
The Problem is, everytime i start the "TWRP recovery" thing (i do this with the help of the command Line, which is mentioned at the End of the Section "How to Install TWRP recovery on HTC U11"),
it boots and when it is booted the touch screen does not work anymore, nor do the Buttons work.
The only Button which works is the "power" button but not in the normal way, so i can shut down the phone it just "blocks" the screen and i should "swipe" to unlock it, but, as the Touch Screen
does not work, i can't unlock the thing.
Only way to get out of that is to reboot the phone via command line on the Pc.
As i said, i did everything mentioned above the "How to Root HTC U11" section.
I unlocked the phone, did install TWRP recovery and everything worked.
But as soon as i started TWRP recovery the touch screen is not working anymore.
I used the "newest" TWRP recovery (or at least i think i did, its the Version twrp-3.1.1-0-ocn.img).
So, does anyone know how i can solve this problem?
As i said, i'm a real newbee with smartphone and everything which has something to do with unlocking and Stuff.
I really hope someone can help me.
Thanks, and have a nice day.
