I am sorry that i have to open a new thread but i am new and the rules doesnt allow me to post a reply in the Thread of Kwonggers Toolkit.
Kwonggers Toolkit (Version 1.3.1) has a little bug so atm the unlock process doesnt work, but it can be solved easy.
Open the file "NEXUS 5 Toolkit v1.3.bat" with notepad, search for "fastboot OEM UNLOCK" and change it to "fastboot oem unlock". Thats it... Hope that there are no more bugs, the Dev is informed!
Maybe a mod could move this thread into kwonggers toolkit thread? Thx!

I am on a step where I type fastboot oem unlock and does not work from there so I got PDAnet but still problem but now I have standard set configuration on the bottom of the fastboot mode...No idea from there help! thank you so much!
Read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895545
you probably don't have the proper drivers setup.
What kind of error is it giving? You know you don't have to do the oem unlock anymore to root right?

Hello,
So, can anybody answer my question ?
I've been following a lot of tutorials, with no luck in achieving root access.
Can you recommend any working method ?
Thanks.

Im assuming your using bean up scripts. So when it say check for updates ACTUALLY go to settings and check for update without closing the Cmd. The instruction weren't clear to me until a friend showed it to me.

Stop getting information from bullsh*t websites that just steal content from XDA. Get it right from the source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671396

You edit the file on your PC. adb command "pull" means you pull the file from the phone to your PC.
Have you tried the one click Super CID? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672284

Could someone please tell me how to hide this screen as I am not 100% sure how to do it. Thanks
Enter fastboot mode by pressing volume down button and power button. Then make sure you've installed adb/fastboot drivers and paste the logo.bin in the same map as your fastboot.exe. then open a command prompt by pressing shift and right Mouse. And type fastboot flash logo logo.bin.
Thats it .
Btw, this isnt the correct place to ask these questions.

Actually those files are flashable zips and should be flashed by a recovery (not stock recovery though)

Agreed to the above post! This is just the place to ask it!
Sorry everyone!
I was using my mobile and thought that this thread was under: Android development.
my fault
Hey guys,
I am pretty new to the rooting stuff on the Nexus.
I read the sticky threat from rootSU (http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...urce-guides-info-threads-linked-read-t2784527) and followed his description. So I installed ADB and fastboot through the "15 sec. installer" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979).
So fast so good, everything went fine. But as I tried to "check" if ADB and fastboot are recognizing my device with the command "adb devices" and "fastboot devices" in cmd, I got some strange output (look at the picture).
How can it be that ADB "sees" my device and fastboot not? What I did wrong there?
(I didn't installed the drivers with the 15 sec tool; when I plugged in my device to the computer, it downloaded the drivers itself)
Any help would be very appreciated!
Follow the next step on my thread and install the naked drivers
Okay thank you!
I'll try it tonight and report back.
I also thought of a problem with the drivers, but I thought that I messed up with installing ADB and fastboot somehow, because ADB could recognize my device.
One question again: When I uninstall the Nexus 5 drivers and I reconnect my phone to the pc, it download the driver itself.. How can I stop that to install the naked drivers?

Remember - adb ONLY works when Android is booted up or you're in recovery, fastboot ONLY works when you're in the bootloader

Damn, thats it! I am so dumb! I don't know how I could forget that.. I read it some hours ago.
After I went into bootloader mode, fastboot recognized my device!
Thanks a lot guys, now I can go to the next step to root my device! =)
Btw.. another question, which is offtopic - does it makes a difference to root KitKat or Lollipop? I guess the guides around here are all made for KitKat and I don't want to mess up. :/ Thx!

@rootSU has posted some new guides on rooting Lollipop, so best read his threads in the General section
To root Lollipop you have to use Chainfire Auto Root. There is extra security in Lollipop that keeps the old root method from KitKat from working.
Oh I see..thats annoying. But thank you for your answers! I guess I'll read those threads. =)
Btw.. Can you guys tell me if I understood everything..:
To go back to the official 4.4.4., I don't have to root my device, right? I "only" have to unlock my bootloader and flash the official factory image through fastboot. And afterwards I could root my device using the guides around here on xda.

Oh, actually thats all I wanted! =)
On my old Samsung Galaxy Ace you had to root your device first, before you even could install another stock rom, thats why I thought it would be the same for the Nexus 5.
Thanks alot, I'll save my data on my PC now and start with the "downgrading"!

Yeah I think I got it now. I unlocked my bootloader and flashed the official 4.4.4. factory image from the google developers website. Afterwards I booted into the stock recovery and wiped data/factory reset and reboot. Everything is fine now!
Thank you for your help! Learned a lot of basic understandings.

There are multiple methods. Cf auto root is just one of them.
I documented all methods in general. There's a link to my thread from "sticky roll-up in general

I usualy root my Nexus by booting into a custom recovery (TWRP), flash the latest superSU.zip and any mod i want and reboot/done That way i keep my stock recovery.
I followed this guild...
http://www.androidinfotech.com/2016/10/root-htc-one-a9-marshmallow-install-twrp.html
...exactly and I currently can't get into my recovery and there isn't an option in the 'download mode' menu for recovery. I made it to the part where I type "fastboot flash recovery name.img" into the ADB and it appeared to flash fine. It said that it wrote a certain amount of data and gave no error messages.
When I boot my phone while holding the volume up button, it simpily reboots after displaying the HTC logo.
One thing I did notice while following the guild, is that my phone always had S-ON. It never said S-OFF. I did unlock it and I did turn on 'OEM unlocking' after unlocking the phone(because it got wiped while unlocking).
What are my options? Am I on the verge of bricking the phone? I know that no recovery can't be good. Any issue with my OS and I don't know what to do. This is a Boost Mobile phone. It is running Anroid 6.0.1 Did I miss a step? I tried flashing the recovery several times but it still won't boot. I also powered down the phone after flashing it and tried to go straight into the recovery but it simpily reboots. I can still use the phone though as the OS works.
That guide seems weird. You boot into recovery via Download mode -> Enter bootloader -> enter recovery. It seems to have no mention of download mode?

 so is it for the One A9 or for the HTC 10? Looks like a copy/paste mistake... All these unnecessary caps letters and missing spaces, my eyes are bleeding Bad readability aside there are a few mistakes (bad links, slightly wrong procedures) in that guide. It can for sure help you get the job done but not the best.

S-ON/S-OFF is unrelated to bootloader unlock, these are 2 different things. You can find a few threads explaining the difference over XDA.
This is for the HTC One A9.

Forget that guide my friend.
Follow instructions from HTCDev.com/bootloader to unlock your bootloader an this guide to flash TWRP. At FAQ #4 of that guide (see post #2) you'll find all you need to root the phone.
