[Q] Two way call recording - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Considering all the disappointment I experienced with my N4 about the subject of this post, I would like to know in advance and for sure if and how proper 2 way call recording is possible with the N5?

[Q] Usage of Skype/Google Talk etc?

Has anyone tried using Skype and or Google Talk on their Transformer yet? If so, were you able to get voice and/or video working? This a big selling point for me (video chat). Any and all discussion around this is welcome. Thanks in advance.

I havnt tried but read my short review posted in the forum
yep, both work ok.. Skype voice quality is better.. but the app is buggy and lacks video (i hear there is an updated soon though).. video calling over gtalk worked well for me as well though..
Thanks for the replies. Glad to hear one app worked with video. As with all things software, time will make them better.

[Q]Skype Audio/video recording solution?

moved to general andorid questions
This seems like a fairly obvious answer:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...raider&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
If that's not what you're looking for, maybe you can be a little more clear with your question.

Hi !
Just wondering is there any good app to do this kind of stuff ?
I have been googling for more than 2hours , got all kind of stuff but nothing that specialised to do this !
I have found several audio recorders , but non of them seems to compatible with skype .
Thanks for wasting your time for us!
To be clear, you need help finding something that will record the audio and video of your Skype calls on the HOX?

Chick this out, if this isn't what you need maybe one of the related apps is.
This too:

They may require root though..

[Q] 2 Way Phone Call Recorder

Dear XDA Developers,
I have tried to find an app for Phone Call recording directly from the Phone line instead of Mic for my HOXL.
I tried with all apps on the Play but none of them are working for HOXL.
From the other posts on Call Recorder I understood that Phone line recording should be enabled from the Kernel being used for the ROM.
Currently I am using Carbon 1.8 with 3.4 kernel of the ROM.
Kindly suggest me an application or Kernel which will help me to record the phone calls directly from Phone line.
Thanks in Advance!!
Regards,
Sathish804.
I've seen a few posts like this in the past, none of which were ever resolved to my knowledge.

I have seen following post for HOX.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663642
But when I have tried to check this with HOXL I am unable to find the system/etc/soundimage/Sound_Phone_Original_REC.txt file on Carbon ROM.
If developers consider developing call recording in ROM's or in any Kernel for future will be really good.
Android lacking this feature is quite disappointment.

I disagree since recording calls is a grey area. I'd rather not have someone record my calls unless I give consent and i'm sure many people feel the same way.
Yeah I have to agree there, I certainly wouldn't want anyone recording my call without my knowledge. I'm pretty sure where I come from by law you have to notify whoever it is that you're recording the conversation.

I also agree with you.. My context of recording calls is to record my business conversations with my team which will be helpful for me to refer back to them to get any missing information.
Thanks and Regards,

[Q] Video has breathing autofocus problem

I've been reviewing all the Nexus 5 videos and it looks like the Nexus 5 suffers from the "breathing autofocus" problem that many LG phones (including the recently released G2) struggle with. Has anybody been able to figure out some work around or fix?
If you're not sure what I'm referring too, basically the videos seem to breath/bounce/throb whenever you move it around or something moves into view as the camera focusses. It's really a deal breaker for me which is a shame as otherwise I would pick up this phone in a second.
Any ideas whould be appreciated.
Thanks.
I'm not disagreeing, I know exactly what you're talking about...
But is there a phone that doesn't do this? My DSLR even does it, which is why autofocus isn't suggested for recording video on DSLRs...

Okay agreed, but the question is: how do I switch autofocus off?

Many phones don't do this.
The iPhone 4S and 5 does not do this. Neither does the Note 3. I've tried them myself.
I also haven't noticed it on MotoX videos I've seen online.

[Q] Nexus 5 Force Noise-Gate on audio recordings?

Hello,
I have recently bought a nexus 5.
When I hear recording made with this device (with several recording apps) the sound appers to have been noise-gated.
While noise-gate in phone converstaions is nice, Noise-gate in recording is an awful idea.
This is very problematic for me and make the device untrustable when in comes to mid-volume recordings.
I hope someone have a solution for this by now.
Thank you very much for your time, It appreciate your help

No, We have different problems.
Your issue is with a static background sound on recordings, My problem is a forced noise-gate effect on recordings.
I hve sent a replay in your tread to try to help you but we do not share the same issue, Goodluck
