I found that the nexus touchscreen attracts tons of fingerprints compared to other phones. It may just be my screen protector, who knows, but I was wondering how do you guys properly clean your nexus ?
I just simply wipe it down real good with microfiber cloth. I need to find a way to extract the dust from the front speaker grille. I've tried gum method but didn't help

Yep. I don't see the point in putting any effort into it when I know that 5 minutes later it's gonna be covered in fingerprints again.
spit + shirt!
also theres a small gap between the glass and chrome bezel.. how do you remove dust from there???its really annoying >.<

Exactly! I have dust stuck in there too......it gets so annoying when the entire phone is completely clean and there's dust in that little gap....
First you said its the touchscreen, then you said its your screen protector. Buy a higher quality oleophobic screen protector like Spigen. You can carry a microcloth with you as well.

I just use the corner of a piece of paper, such as a PostIt note, and gently run it the length of the gap.
Glasses cloth. If really sticky, soap & water and glasses cloth
Get a keyboard co2 dust spray???
I wonder if you could apply an oleophobic coating on a screen protector? Like I bought the spigen crystal cause I figured the oleophobic one would lose that layer eventually anyway just like glass screens. But if you could DIY it you could get whatever screen protector you want and then just buy the spray.

I lick the screen with my tongue and wipe it dry on somebody's shirt. Works with any phone, difficult with tablets though.

My compressor set to 100psi...although a can of dust off should work
I used an old toothbrush and it cleaned it pretty good.
I generally just wipe it off with my shirt... if I'm at home I'll give it a good lick and wipe it off. Way serious.

Does anyone know if this is a special screen? i know it's gorilla glass but it seems to clean easier than the G2 screen. I could wipe my G2 screen for five minutes and still have finger oils on the screen. this one i wipe the screen once with my shirt and its clean?

I've been wondering about this too. I'm coming from a Droid 1 (also Gorilla Glass) that is the only piece of personal electronics that I have ever Windexed. The LG seems to be staying nice and shiny with minimal upkeep.
do you have the factory installed screen protector? mine is a smear magnet. thinking about replacing it. either that or i'm just really oily.
I did have teh factory screen protector on but it was starting to peel off on its own so i just removed it. And since then the screen has remained clean with a few smudges that get removed with a single wipe.

The factory screen protector is probably the best I've ever seen compared to any other phone's. However, it's still a cheap screen protector compared to after market products. Definitely upgrade
I noticed this as well. Had the phone a few days and haven't had to wipe the screen once. At the end of a day my nexus s screen looked like I ate a box of Popeyes chicken on it.

Haven't had to wipe my screen once. I haven't thought about it but now that you mention it....Damn, I usually have to wipe my screen down twice a day. I also love how they beveled the glass. It's like your fingers just slide right off when swiping. I find myself just sliding my finger over the bevel because it feels so nice.
I agree, I really enjoy this screen too

good, i thought i was the only oily one out here. before i even got the phone, i ordered a 2 pack of anti-smudge screen protectors.....tmo branded lol. ugh
they're still in the pack because i'm sure they're the same as the one on my phone now.
actually, i just opened them now. they only cover the screen, not the capacitive buttons or the top around the camera. the factory one is better in size, so i'll keep that for now.
Gotta say the same as my vibrant. Its the gorilla glass.

My screen also has no smudges and i havent wiped it once. my nexus one was awfully smudgy on a daily basis.
It's really smooth
There's a big whitepaper about the coating they put on the gorilla glass to make it easier to clean, it's on the corning website, google for it!
Going "naked"...
Wish me luck! I have never had a phone that didn't scratch.
probably some oleophobic type
Play some Fruit Ninja and you will have a clean screen hahaha
I was looking at cornings website and it said that mt4g and HD7 were made with gorilla glass
neither one of those screens felt like this one
and
they both scratched pretty easy
smh

Hey guys
Quite a while back I bought the case mate tough and long story short, I messed up the screen protector. I took it off and ever since then I get horrible little hairs and dirt sticking to my screen. Is there something I can use to give the screen a good clean? I just think that the screen protector may have made the screen slightly sticky. I already have a micro fiber cloth but it doesn't seem to get rid of whatever is causing it

I use the same wipes that I use on my eyeglasses to clean the screens on my cell phone and other portable devices
OR
baby wipes...just dab it a bit...and use ur microfibre cloth in circular motion
n done..
thanks i'll try it out and see how it goes!
I use alchohol wipes - they seem to do the trick
I use a little handwash soap + water, and then again with just water. The same way I clean my eyeglasses.

you can also use some after shave because it is alcohol based, it will evaporate and make the phone feel like it was new
I am using wipe from MacBookPro
You can use an lcd screen cleaner or some stuff called goo gone, i got at walmart
I've got some HDTV cleaning spray...is it okay to use on the tablet? I already have a couple times....not sure if the TF has any coating on the glass that I need to worry about.
The screen gets squeaky clean...and takes some using to feel sick again...probably from the oil on the fingers.
There is no coating on the glass.

I just windex on my tablet, just spay a paper towel or microfiber towel with a few squirts and wipe it down.
I use Windex, vinegar and water, Rain-X, or anything that's handy.
i found a pack of these at walmart on sale for about $7 or so...

little disposable lense cleaning wipes with some kind of water and cleaning solution on them. They're in individual packets so i can carry one or two with me in the transformer's case.
I use a bottle of wax and dry and a microfiber cloth. I just spray it lightly over the screen, then buff it out with the cloth. It makes my fingers just glide across the screen with ease. Also helps prevent fingerprints from building up. Been doing this for years with all of my touch screen devices with no issues at all.
I got sick of paying $8+ for cleaning sprays, so I just took one of the empty bottles and put half water and half rubbing alcohol. Works GREAT! Especially after my 4 y/o nephew puts his boogers all over it!

I wouldn't recommend windex on any touchscreen, it leaves a thin residue which after a while will affect the touch sensitivity.
cleaning
I use a nice soft lint free cloth and give it 2 to 3 sprays of general purpose window (errr no not that ms window!!) cleaner .....
put the cloth in a sealable bag and it lasts for months....
the 500ml bottle should last about 250 years.......
I read this article a couple of weeks ago on LifeHacker, they also say 50/50 mix of distilled water and white vinegar, but I didn't try it yet.
isn't vinegar acid based? won't this harm the device screen?

I also found cleaning pads at Walmart, but the ones I found were only $3.00

I also get this response whenever I mention it to my geeky friends . I figured more people did this.
I have been using turtle wax and dry on my transformer since I got it in August. I clean the screen with the wax about 2 or 3 times per week. I also clean the keyboard dock with the wax; I love the smooth feel the wax gives. Also used the wax on all of my devices in the past (iPod touch 1st gen, 2nd gen, 4th gen, Droid X, and my wife's iPhone 4). The only issue I have ever had is that the wax makes the screen a bit more glossy.
Try it out. You can always remove the wax with a bit of isopropyl.

I bought a bottle of clean screener with nice soft cloth. Does the job nicely. Fragrance free wet wipes will work nicely too.
I just use my glasses cloth. Simple as that. I dont have a screen protector either

A little glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth works nicely...with or without screen protector.

This is strange but the GT-N8000 manual does not say, But...........

The GT-N8013 manual on page 193 - Care and Maintenance - Cleaning solutions - Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the mobile device. Wipe it with a soft cloth slightly dampened in a mild soap-and-water solution"

I just generally use a soft clean microfiber cloth to get rid of finger prints but for things that can't be removed with a dry cloth I use a biodegradable glass cleaner that does not contain any ammonia or alcohol and a clean microfiber cloth
.
Hey everyone,
So I've had my Nexus 5 since launch and love it.
But I have a problem with dust.
When I take it out of my pocket I have pocket lint and dust all over the screen which I wipe off no problems.
But...
It often gets brushed in to the edge of the screen and falls down a minuscule crack all the way around the edge of the phone.
Anybody have any advice for cleaning this out?
As the white specs annoy me in contrast to the black phone
Use a sheet of paper to get it out
Yess me too. Only at the bottom of the screen though but it is pretty annoying
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Yup, just noticed it on mine this morning. The corner of a piece of paper slips in there quite easily, less than a mm, and allows you to get most of the dust out.
