Hi guys.i had a question regarding dbrand's skins and the resistance it provides from scratches.. Is it safe to use a naked (no case/screenguard on) nexus 4 + a dbrand skin?

Not really. The skins (from what I've read - I just ordered one myself) will protect from scratches, but they're obviously not meant for drop protection. It's always good to use a case / cover with it. If you're also asking about the front scratch guard, well, I've never used any phone without one. Its up to you. But I highly recommend using a case with your phone whatsoever.

I'm using a generic eBay one. Got it for 98 bucks, Matte finish. Here's the link if you're interested: http://www.ebay.in/itm/LG-GOOGLE-NE...Mobile_Accessories&hash=item338456da28&_uhb=1
I bought 2 and got 1 free, that offer still seems to be valid. Its a good protector, 0 scratches till now. Been a month or so. My normal protectors would have gotten 1 or 2 by now.

The skin at the back is perfect. That's how I have used my Nexus phone. dbrand skin at the back and naked at the front. Obviously this only works if you're willing to accept the risks if you drop it. I've had cases/bumpers/screen protectors but nothing feels as good as a naked phone I've kept the dbrand skin and have used it without a case/screen protector and loved it. Hard to use a phone with a case once you've used it naked to be honest.

My dbrand black leather skin without Nexus logo will arrive in a couple of days. I'm ready to make my Nexus 4 stealthy, without any text on it. Nothing on front and just dbrand skin on back! I'll take a risk and use this simply beatifull phone just the way it's make with this really cool round edges of the screen and nice feel they are giving.

Happens with me twice a day! i take off my ringke fusion and keep my phone naked for around 30-45 minutes. Then i start thinking what if one of my dogs comes and starts playing and it falls any reason whatsoever and that's when i put the case back on .

Just do what I do, I use a front and back transparent wet applied screen protectors and a bumper: http://www.amazon.com/Google-Nexus-E960-Bumper-Case/dp/B00B199960/
It retains the look of the phone and give some protections. If you need more protection while still retaining looks, you can get both front and back tempered glass protector, which are more expensive: http://www.amazon.com/XGear-LG-SEN-Sentinel-Tempered-Protector/dp/B00DV46MGS/
I'm not sure if both are dogs proof through, maybe the latter.

I don't have a credit card to order from overseas and not really a fan of wet protecters.i suppose I'm gonna be quite alright with the dbrand skin + screen protector in the front and a ringke fusion.still thanks alot appreciate it.

Case + Scratch Guard
Hi Team,
Since SGR doesnt sport a Gorilla Glass display, which is the best combination of Case + Scratch Guard to protect it?
I've already ordered case mate barely there. Quality of CM is usually very high.
About screen protectors- so I haven't seen/tested any good one. All of them are cheap, self-adhesive **** impossible to apply and avoid bubbles. Either Zagg or Copter doesn't support our device yet, but maybe some of you found a decent one?
EDIT: I've just given a shot to this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150684872722#ht_1976wt_1026
According to users' opinions it gives a decent protection for perfect price.

I only buy matte screen protectors off eBay.
Usually i got for the cheapest **** there. I cannot tell the difference between a $20 and a $1 screen protector.
The best way to put on the protector is to apply it right after removing the original protector that comes when u buy the phone brand new.
I know i know.....Most of u buy the protectors AFTER u buy the phone.
I've always bought the protectors and case before i buy the phone hahaha.
Nevermind this.
Next, never use the microfibre cloth **** they provide for free.
Usually the cheap yellow cloth they give is useless.
I have 1 from Ray Ban, 1 from Swarowksi, 1 from Oakley.
Use the best u can afford. The difference is great !
Wipe down the entire phone.
Careful never to touch the screen.
Some ppl apply a few drops of water on the screen for moving it after applying.
I dun.
Make sure no dust or specks.
If any, use a sticky tape.
Dun peel of the whole screen protector.
Follow this method....
This is similar to how i do it.

Cheers !
Thanks a lot mate!
I've usually followed all steps you wrote but always some small piece of **** goes under the film and as a result I get unremovable bubble, so I don't trust those self-adhesive protectors. I've already used 5 of them (cheap **** between 2 and 7 USD) and never succeeded I've always had better luck with zagg's invisible shield, i mean those applicable with water.
So you have to buy a Swarovski Crystal for 1000US$ to get the cloth and then be able to clean the screen.
hehe... just joking....
Good guide.
I used Vikuiti screen protectors in the past and found them very good
I don't see the ones i used before, but they have several ones for the Galaxy R

If u get **** under the film just before setting it down, lift up the film and use sticky/celo tape and pick it up. then continue laying down the film.
Only release the film down completely when u cannot see any dirt specks between screen n film.
User a tooth pick/hook/pin....anything that will not leave stain or grease.
our fingers are grease magnets.

Agreed that CaseMate is one of the best quality for cases. Which type would be good enough to withstand accidental drops? Rubber/Jelly/Hard Case?
Also, is there a suggested brand for the screen protectors? I require one that is scratch & fingerprint-resistant.
Read online that Matt-type protectors make the screen look dim! Is it true?
Thanks in advance,

For accidental drops, I've found TPU and Leather cases the best.
They stay on the phone after the phone drops.
Hard cases, either plastic(coloured type) or polycarbonate(transparent type) with pop off the phone when dropped.
Matte protectors are finger-print resistant but allows about 80%(just my guess....so dun sue me if found otherwise) of light to pass through.
Clear screen protectors allow almost all the light(99% my guess) to pass through from the screen output.
The worst is mirror screen protector which allows about 60%(my guess again) of light.
All the figures are based on the fact the screen brightness is at maximum n only an assumption.
So it all depends on ur requirements and needs.
Cheers !

Sure you can apply water to everything...but some of protectors just won't work (known from my own experience)
Some of them are applicable with water some of them (mostly the cheapest) are not. I tried to apply the latter with water anyway...and they ended up in a thrash can

Are they selling them in UK? As the last time I contacted them they advised to wait until someone starts reselling them but not sure if anyone has. But yes I've read that they are pretty good screen protectors.
As to knight screen protectors - its the first time I've heard of them from this thread but would be interested to see how they perform and if they are actually any good.

Yeah the guy sells them in the UK and posts worldwide. Will need to do an in depth review since no one seems to have heard of them. I should receive them either today or tomorrow.
I've got one on my n4. Good full screen coverage, really easy to apply. Quite gummy in use, but not too bad. I've got it on front and back. Only problem is that my poetic bumper case makes the corners and edges detach so I can't use it anymore. I do prefer the size without the bumper, but its a shame I can't protect the sides.

EDIT - I refitted the protector as I had an annoying small hair stuck under it. I got it more central this time and the poetic bumper fits fine with no edge raising or affecting the adhesion. I've tried a couple of different wet types on other devices - this one is by far the best.
I've just fitted one tonight on my LG G2. Will post in a couple of days what I think of it. At the moment it looks a little pants but that may just be down to the way I fitted it. Lots of bubbles that I'm hoping will disappear in time. Back looks great though.
I'm generally pleased with my screen knight however I wonder if anybody has tried to take one off ater it's dried out. I'm a little concerned it may not lift well?
Thanks for the tip, I'm also going to try out this one.

I hope I'm wrong but I think this will add bulk to the phone which might be an issue for some if not most cases/bumpers, specially if you are already using a front glass protector. Again I really hope that I'm wrong and look forward to seeing any pictures/video reviews of the item from the community.

"bulk" ? It's .5mm!
After having the front one from them which is .4mm I found that it adds a little (for lack of a better word) bulk to the phone. The cases/bumpers would normally have a nice lip around the phone so when you put the phone face down the screen would never touch the surface but with the front glass SP that nice space that the lip would create would be diminished because the cases/bumpers don't go on top of the glass SP but right next to it pushing against it, so in my head I'm thinking that having that in the back or having both in front and back would be a bad result. Maybe I'm not explaining myself right but it makes sense in my head :silly:
Has anyone received this yet?

Hey I did receive it a while ago. I had some complications with it. When I applied it to the back of my phone it made it look really weird... It looked kind of like there were air bubbles underneath and looked kind of smashed on the bottom. I removed it to see if I applied it again if it would look different. Same thing. I was a little disappointed about how it looked and took it off. The bottom where it appeared to be smashed wasn't actually smashed. It was part of the adhesive that was not sticking to the glass. The entire back of the protector is a thin layer of adhesive. I ended up peeling the adhesive off the screen protector. It was kind of like a double-sided, thin, sticky piece of rubber, if that makes sense... I'm sorry I don't have pictures. I love xgear products but this is the poorest experience that I've ever had from an xgear product (really the poorest experience I have ever had from any product i've bought for my n4) . I think maybe if the adhesive was only on the edges like it is on the screen protector it would have been better. I think the air bubble looking effect was from the adhesive sticking to the phone... I don't want my money back or a replacement if it was even possible. My phone was very very clean before I applied it, I understood fully what I was doing when applying it. It just wasn't a great product at all. I still love xgear though.
Edit: Oh and to answer the question about the official nexus 4 bumper, Yes it will work with this. Also, shipping was very quick.
Wow so sorry to read that you had such a poor experience with it. That sucks!
If at all possible, could you take a few pictures of the screen protecter and the adhesive that was bubbling up? Thanks!
Sent from my Nexus 4
Could be possible that it was a bad batch?
Hopefully someone will upload some photos soon!
I thought the full clear no border tempered glass protectors had the same rule as the dry screen protectors. Namely that you get the bubbles out that you can and then the rest come out after 24-48 hours. If you look at the installation instructions on the clear protectors for other phones I believe that is correct.

How did you removed it?
SENT FROM MY RAGING NEXUSâ´ ?
I've already thrown it away. When I say it looks like air bubbles I mean something different. They weren't air bubbles at all. That's just the best way I could describe it. You can remove the protector by just prying it off from one of the edges..
I should have taken pictures but I was so disappointed I just threw it away. It was a really weird issue. If you have the money to spare try it out yourself. I love the idea of the protector but I won't be buying another one. I wouldn't even want one if it was free. I don't think it was defective... I think it was just the way it was made. And just to make it clear I'm not wanting to make the company look bad, I myself just wasn't satisfied with the product. I love xgear and the screen protector I bought from xgear that is on my phone right now.

One thing I ddin't like about the white nexus 5 , is that the sides are made of glossy black plastic , I don't understand why google chose to go with gloyys sides on the white nexus and awesome mate on the nexus 5 sides, the thing is , the glossy sides not only look cheap but they actually are... I baby my phone, I won't even put it on a naked table and I got a ton of scratches on the bottom side of the glossy frame, I'm guessing it's because of the friction caused every time I put the phone in my pockets and every time I take it out, is anyone else experiencing the same thing?
get a slim case, 2mm won't hurt your hand, but will protect body of the phone
Or get a dbrand skin. I have the back and sides, but you could just get the sides if you wanted.
They ship from Canada in normal air mail. Really quick. I had mine fitted in 4 days in the UK.

I baby my phone, I won't even put it on a naked table and I got a ton of scratches on the bottom side of the glossy frame, I'm guessing it's because of the friction caused every time I put the phone in my pockets and every time I take it out, is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

I can tell you that the sides do not scratch from just pulling out of a jean pocket. The plastic is way harder than anything that a jean pocket would have in it unlesss......... you had keys in there or something else. I do not think friction causes scratches but I could be wrong.
That is weird. I'm not using a case on my white Nexus 5 either and it's not scratching for me.

Not only easily scratches, but also very slippery in hand.
The white one is the one to avoid if you are going to use naked.

I found about it too late, I hit the "buy" button the second the phone went live on the play store, the white Nexus 5 reminds me of the HTC one which I always wanted to get, at least I'm passing the knowledge and I'm recommending my friends to get the black version

The Back doesn't scratch, it's just the black glossy sides

Yes. I'm talking about the sides. The sides are not scratching for me. It's still in perfect condition.

I personally think you have a change or key monster in your pocket, or you aren't babying your phone like you think you are because this is the first I have heard of it. I own the white version and I don't have a scratch on it.
I hope people take your opinion with a grain of salt in recommending the black over the white because it is the same hard plastic just different back.

no bro normal use wont scratch it .. nothing here . thousand of scratch on your phone has another story behind it . it will scratch during use in year but not this soon . nothing here though .

yeah i agree man .. i dont know why ppl keep saying black has better material !! whos said that ? it has great feel and have texture on it and its not a sticky hard (like before i get hands on it ) . feel great in hand . its just different material and feel . white nexus glossy side make it so luxury ho u come up with cheap idea !!! if u are not white nexus man , trade it to black one .
i didnt like previous nexus white version like nexus 4 . but
white is really beautiful and harmonic than black . black is not actually pure black and mat make me feel phone has ages on it !
white harmony and paradox ( white speaker phone on front and black camera in back and from back side black button make it amazing . )

Or get a dbrand skin. I have the back and sides, but you could just get the sides if you wanted.
They ship from Canada in normal air mail. Really quick. I had mine fitted in 4 days in the UK.

yeah bro when phone constantly rubbing to something that is not baby coating it will take scratch for sure /... your baby (" i baby my phone ) is a little bit angry i guess .. i mean no harm just kidding .
bro sure a narrow fit pocket will do that . becuase i am keeping it in my waist bag (im not sure what it called in english ) and not naked . in soft guard in there or in my coat pocket and ofcourse in that soft thing . for me white is great but it need attention more than black .
i recommending u to use bumper case while u are gonna put in your pocket .
I've had 2x White 32gb and both have had screen issues (1 had dead pixels & the other had terrible screen bleed), and one of them the bezel cracked near the sim card slot. I have also had a T-Mobile version in black which was flawless. The bezel thing is real and is something I noticed after a few days of use. I baby my phones; spigen crystal armor and ultra lite case since day one, and there is still marks from taking the case off and on. Google finally owned up and replaced my white one for a black one.

If you read my post it clearly says both white 32gb had screen issues. An agent made a statement that I should have been able to select black as a replacement and promised to get it fixed. Corporate office finally approved it after calling their HQ and having the calls reviewed.

Sorry , I'm still sleepy :banghead: , I wouldn't have thought that switching to the black version would solve your screen issues , maybe the white ones you had were from a bad batch

guys finally after getting few scratches from samsung clear case i decided change my S6 Case. As i do not like bumpy cases there were very few options for me. finally found this amazing product which sticks to the phone itself and do not take any extra space at all. Hence we can enjoy the beauty of our S6 and give it maximum scratch free security it has a state of the art technology where the bubbles will go off automatically in 2-3 days and is very easy installable. they have two models only screen and full body. i bought full body protector for Rs. 899 as there was an offer in their indian website. This included the installation kit too. But i would recommend to purchase the Full body protection excluding the installation kit for Rs. 799 as it can me done easily with soap water.
Procedure for installation
1)There will be separate films for Screen, Back of the phone, Two sides, Two tops and Small Joining pieces ( it covers the entire phone and it is strechable to an extent).
2)Clean the devices surface thoroughly of all the dirt if any.
3)Spray the solution if you ordered installation kit or insert the film in soap water and stick to your phone.
4) clear of the bubbles with a plastic card, like your credit or debit card
VOILA done, and if there are any bubbles thats still there, will be removed automatically in 2 to 3 days
Highly recommended for those who do not like bumpy cases.

Whether he's a owner or not, I've used these for my Nexus 4 and one of my Moto X 2014s; the matte finish does wonders for finger prints/extra grip and the clear screen protectors are pretty clear and smooth for being wet apply. Probably gonna get a matte back piece for my GS6.

Looks and feels good. I'd prefer it over a clear one or glass
