Stock Android 4.4 KitKat Launcher & Google Apps Extracted - Android General

NOTE
1 Just install the apks as a normal app unless you wanna push it to /system/app and make it a system app.
2 It should work for all the devices with Android 4.2 or above.
3 Anyway, if you are on Android 4.1 or below, you may still give it a try if there is no 'error parsing package' occurred.
4 The fix has to be extracted to replace the previous lib under system/lib, do not flash it.
5 If you are pushing the apks to /system/app or replacing the lib, ensure that the permission is set to rw-r--r-- to avoid FC.
Stock Android 4.4 KitKat Launcher --- Here’s what you’ll need to install:
1 PreBuiltGmsCore (Google Play Services 4.0) Download [Mirror]
2 Velvet (Google Search) Download [Mirror]
3 GoogleHome (Google Launcher) Download [Mirror]
UPDATE 1: Google Search Force Close fix:
Long press the home screen, select Settings. Select Voice. Select Language to change the default. Change to another language, for me I choose English – UK. Hit Home. Do a Google Search. Repeat the first three steps. Change back to English – US. (you may have to redo this step every time you restart --- if you experienced FC --- for non-rooted users)
OR
Please extract and replace the /system/lib/libgoogle_recognizer_jni.so with the one downloaded from THIS or THIS LINK. (permanent fix --- for rooted users)
UPDATE 2: "Ok, Google" search feature fix:
If anyone has a problem with the "Ok, Google" search feature, you have to get the English (US) language update. Under "Language and Input" --- "Voice Search"/ "Google Now Settings" --- "Voice", tap "Offline Speech Recognition" --- "All" and tap "English (US)" to update. After it is done, press home and it should be working! If you've cleared data on the app, it'll erase the update and you'll need to do this again.
Google Apps Extracted:
Contact and dialer are not added because they did not work while calculator and map are not added due to parsing error~The apps may not fit every screen perfectly due to different screen resolution
Calendar Download [Mirror]
Clock Download [Mirror]
If you're getting an install prompt instead of the update one, chances are this APK will refuse to install. This happens because this package's pname is com.android.deskclock, and yours is probably com.google.android.clock, so it's not installing as an update but rather as a separate app, and then failing because the same provider name has already been declared. The only way around this would be to freeze/uninstall the stock clock, as far as I can tell, which requires root. You may need to clear data for the Clock app after installation - otherwise it may FC on start.

1st fix is not working and second is not working because Unable to update offline Recognition data

Google Keyboard doesn't fit on the screen. Also, someone mentioned the Calculator. Where is that?

keyboard not fitting the screen

I assume the screen recorder can not be used unless on 4.4?

My work exchange email quit sending and receiving.

I already did that, it doesn't help. :-\ it's weird, for example; I enter 777 to check my Internet usage and get Google+ suggestions for people who have those numbers in their usernames. I have to scroll all the way down to select 777 and send sms to that number. It's like Google integrated a world wide phone book into hangouts.
Thanks man, obviously that was a joke. Some people obviously can't take one.

As long as the GV app creates a notification, it will not break the extension. Did you try disabling other accessibility services?
I was hesitant, only because I rely on the other services accessing the option. If it is that, unfortunately the extension will be of no use to me, but I will try. Also, it may be that I do not have the notification option in status bar checked in the Google voice options? I don't have it checked because I don't want it in the status bar as well as the widget. I have another app, google voice + messaging, and it does not require this. I will give your suggestion a whirl. Thanks.

The reason I suggest turning off other services is solely for debugging purposes. If two accessibility services monitor the same events, only one of them will actually receive it, depending on which service is registered with the system first.
And yes (I'm 95%+ sure), you need notification for GV on for the extension to have something to monitor on. Blame all these on a lack of GV api from Google

How about Group MMS for you guys? MMS to one person works great, but trying to send a group message or pic doesn't send and then force closes over and over again until I clear the data...
Also, changing the Lang in Google Search doesn't seem to fix the voice search error...

As for the Google search issue. What language did you change it to? Also if you reboot it'll reset and you have to do it all over again, also if you change the language you have to say the phrase in that language to get it to open

Just tried all these, the launcher, Google now, and Hangouts work.
Touchless control still works with the new version of Now.
Hangouts seems a little slow to send SMS, but that might be my specific conversation list, as they are all huge amounts of messages. Emoji are present in Hangouts and send fine.
Launcher runs incredibly smooth and flawlessly.
I don't see a difference between the stock gallery app on my moto x and the new one. Camera works, but the buttons are stretched off the screen and selecting photosphere crashes the app.
OK, now use Google now. Force close.

Probably not, it was designed specifically for the Nexus 5 so something like that makes sense to be off. Why would you want to replace your Moto X camera with the N5 one anyway? you would lose specific Moto X features.

Google Android 4.4 apk's

http://goo.gl/Rwk5FO
http://goo.gl/Zfz7mb
(note: velvet.apk is google search, latinimegoogle.apk is keyboard)
These are all taken from the following two URLs:
http://www.droid-life.com/2013/10/3...om-the-nexus-5-dump-search-launcher-and-more/
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...4-4-with-gmail-style-ui-and-a-slide-out-menu/
All of them work for me on CM10.2 11/1 nightly except
-- to get exchange email working disable the old *exchange* under apps before seeing up the new email app.
-- Photosphere also crashes if you try to use it, and my camera FC'd after taking a picture. The new Gallery works great though.
-- Deskclock will not install
-- Voice search (using Google Now) will crash before it brings up a response unless you >> Hold down on homescreen, select settings, select Voice, change the voice (to English - UK for example). (update - better fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46994076#post46994076)
To get Google Home working
To install the new launcher (Google Home), you’ll have to install 3 different apps – Google Play Services 4.0, Google Search, and the Google Home .apk. (Cheers to Phandroid for figuring that out.)

I tried the 4.4 google launcher on l.s. 4.2.2. And jb 4.1.2. All is working great with no problems yet. Way cool.

[4.4.x] Working HTC Blinkfeed

Instructions for installing HTC Blinkfeed on Samsung Galaxy s
S4:
1. Download Htc_BlinkFeed_v8.zip
2. Flash it in Recovery
3. Have fun!
For weather widvet on Feed Page, set the Feed Page as Home page and go in settings/accounts and create account. Then go and enable location and it should work.
P. S. After creating weather acc. sync it.
Ok, so now here is a little guide for the users who don't have enough system space.
I am using CM11, and I think I had like 10 mb free on system(With Full-RR GApps) . What have I done? I went into system/apps and I deleted all Google apps(like Gmail, Maps, etc...DO NOT DELETE GOOGLE SERVICES OR GOOGLE PLAY). After that I went in Play Store and I reinstalled all apps that I deleted + Swiftkey. Now go back in system/apps and delete latinIME.apk( I think), it's Google Keyboard(I am not a fan of it). I deleted also some CM apps like Apollo, Terminal Emulator, Whisper Push, Dsp Manager(because I use PlayTube and it won't work with PlayTube) CM File Manager, CM Account... And I had like 100 free mb in system.
Known issues:
1. Facebook feed
2. Weather app won't work(on clicking on it)
3. Some graphical glitches
*******Update: V8 *******
New flashble zip Htc_BlinkFeed_v8
this is weather and twitter included.
hsp (service pack) permission probrem is cleared and you don't have to remove /system/priv-app anymore
To make Weather appear on Feed page, you need:
1. Set Feed Page as Home page
2. Go into Settings/accounts and create a HTC weather account(sync it)
3. Go to location settings and turn it on
4. Now, weather should appear on Feed page

Its a hit and miss for twitter. For me it doesn't work but other have reported to get twitter feed to show, just not open it up. Its safe to flash V8 over V7
!!! IMPORTANT!!! BlinkFeed port is under development. Some features like Facebook feed won't work. Also, there is a little problem with the widgets. Changing density should solve the problem.
Please post some ScreenShots, I can't post because of an error.

Ok, I don't know why you can't create weather account ( look in new OP). Facebook won't work, porting is under development. Twitter has some bugs. It works at some users, It doesn't work at others.
UPDATED OP with weather widget guide!!

how do i open this? not shown app drawer or set up as a launcher.
***looks like some files aren't installed specifically the priv-app folder. this was due to low memory on the system. you can try installing them as normal apks.
