Hi everyone,
I've developed a Google Voice extension for the awesome DashClock widget.
It will display the number of new messages in minimized mode, and the last received message in expanded mode.
The extension notification is cleared when Google Voice app is entered either by tapping it or by launching the app manually.
This is my first Android app ever, so please provide feedback and report any issues you find

This works quite well since I wasn't having luck with AnyDash. nothing to complain about thus far.
Thanks!

Looks great! Thanks!
Was just looking for GV ext on the Play store this morning. Works great, thanks for making this.

There are no configurable options yet. The only "option" you will see is at the setting screen and it directs you to the accessibility settings.
New update. Also available on Google Play

This should not happen. Can you check BBS and see what wakelock is causing it?
Downloaded the extension from the play store, and not getting notified of texts from gv in the dashclock widget. Followed instructions of turning on accessibility. Any ideas??

There might be a conflict with other accessibility services that you have. Try turning off those services and see if that works.
Maybe has something to do with new gv update?

As long as the GV app creates a notification, it will not break the extension. Did you try disabling other accessibility services?
I was hesitant, only because I rely on the other services accessing the option. If it is that, unfortunately the extension will be of no use to me, but I will try. Also, it may be that I do not have the notification option in status bar checked in the Google voice options? I don't have it checked because I don't want it in the status bar as well as the widget. I have another app, google voice + messaging, and it does not require this. I will give your suggestion a whirl. Thanks.

The reason I suggest turning off other services is solely for debugging purposes. If two accessibility services monitor the same events, only one of them will actually receive it, depending on which service is registered with the system first.
And yes (I'm 95%+ sure), you need notification for GV on for the extension to have something to monitor on. Blame all these on a lack of GV api from Google

It's not just one app, any third party app, whether it be a game letting me know it's my turn, or facebook it doesn't let me know when I have notifications until I go into the app.
But thanks, I'll mess with the settings

I don't have those issues.
The Facebook think I believe is by design. I only get notified if I'm tagged in a photo or something. I don't get pop ups every time someone "likes" my status, which I think is for the better. This is the same way on my Desire as well.
Sweep Texting allows users to receive, view, and send text messages, all without touching their phones. It uses the proximity sensor to implement intuitive gestures: you can sweep down your screen as though you're giving permission for the app to "come" to you and display itself. An alert dialog will then pop up with the text message and you can reply to it within the dialog itself (you don't have to switch out of the app you're currently using). Then, when you want to send the message, you simply sweep up as though you're commanding the text message to "go away" and send itself.
Since the app is completely touch-free (with the exception of typing in your actual message), it is extremely useful in hands-free situations where looking at the screen and switching through multiple screens to access messages may be a hazard (driving, for instance). The app also gives users a nice futuristic feel to their text messaging experience and allows them to customize it with multiple color schemes.
FULL LIST OF FEATURES:
--Sweep down to view a text message after it arrives.
--Sweep up to send your reply back to whoever you're texting.
--Tap on your message to go directly to your Inbox.
--Supports multiple messages from different senders.
--Supports messages longer than one text message.
--Hide a message and then sweep down to view it again at a later time.
--Choose between Holo styled (ICS only) or five different dialog colors.
--Choose between five different text balloon colors.
--Toggle to disable in Landscape mode.
--Toggle to enable/disable "Message Sent" sound.
--Enable/Disable toggle so you can turn off the app's features when you don't need it.

UPDATE: More color schemes added! Check it out!

Unfortunately, the app is only available in the United States for now (due to export tax law issues). I'll be rolling the app out to other countries soon, though!
Really like this app though sadly it doesn't work with 3rd party messaging apps specifically sliding messaging (what I'm using) only seems to work with stock :-\
also can't reopen text a after dismissing..

Yeah, I could only find Intents that work with the stock messaging app when a text comes in. I'm actually working on porting it over with Google Voice and other 3rd party messaging apps are on my to-do list. I'll let you know when the updates become available.
And "Dismiss" is supposed to mark a message as read (so you won't be able to access it). If you want to be able to access a message after you view it, you should use the "Hide" button (that's what it's for). Glad you like the app though!

Are you using one of the custom color schemes? I don't think they have support for the "Hide" button (I couldn't get the dialog to accept more than one button for some weird reason... prolly an SDK bug). Try using the Holo theme. You can see from my screenshots that there actually is a "Hide" button for the Holo theme. Hope this helps!
Also, if you like the app, please consider sharing it with your friends/leaving a rating and review on Google Play. That'll help support future development of this app. Thanks!

I don't think activities can be shown on the lockscreen. The text message dialogs are individual activities so I don't think I can place them on the lockscreen. If I do find a way though, I'll implement that into the app. Thanks for the tip!

k cool, i would also like to pint out that if you are using a alt messaging app that has an option to wake upon receiveing a text enabled the app works fine, though if it wakes to the lockscreen and is in your pocket at the time you receive a text then this app wont respond to any sweeping after unlocking until you receive another text (unless of course the same scenario happens at which case you'd have to open the text normally) now if there is a way for it to ignore all sweeping over the sensor while at lockscreen then this would be fixed but as im not an app dev idk what you can and cant do, maybe something to look into maybe a waste of time idk, just the only thing that i can think of that would provide a nice work around

That sounds like a good plan. I'm looking into implementing that right now.
Also, the price of the app has been reduced by 25% ($1.50). It has also been released in most European Union countries, so if you weren't able to download it before because of country limitations, you can get it now (as long as you're in the EU)!

AnyDash is a small extension for DashClock Widget. It allows you to select any app on your phone and it'll grab notifications from that app (the same notifications you see in your status bar) and display them in your DashClock Widget.
Google Play Store Link
Donate/Pro Link - Allows up to 3 AnyDash widgets in one go - Will not work properly if AnyDash free is also installed
Note: Some apps notifications aren't picked up, if you find any which don't show notifications in AnyDash let me know and I'll see what I can do
Oh and if anyone wants to have a go at a better icon feel free.. mine's a bit pants I know.. Enjoy!!
For anyone who has a particular app that doesn't work can you do the following:
1 - Setup the app you want in AnyDash as usual
2 - Trigger a notification so, for example, send an email to yourself and wait for it to appear in your status bar
3 - Get the logcat (filter for 'robj.any.dash' or robj.any.dashpro' depending on which one your using) - you can use CatLog from the Play Store to do this and pm it to me
Once I get that I can add support no problem
hi there! thanks for this extension..
i tried to use this with 8tracks, however, it force closes everywhere. FC is solved as soon as the connection is removed..
New version is up..
- Added the option to change the icon
- Tidied up the UI
- Some minor bug fixes
As to the 8tracks bug I couldn't reproduce it could you try on the latest update and see if you still get it.. also which ROM are you on?
This sounds like an epic win. WhatsApp is also included?

I can add a Whatsapp icon for the next release, due to the way you add the icon atm there's no way to allow custom ones (I have tried) but I emailed Roman and he said this will most likely be possible in a future version of DashClock Widget.
And as far as multiple extensions for multiple apps I've tried but it looks like it supports 1 extension per app at a time so AnyDash can only show one thing, I'll continue to look into this though
Had a quick try at an icon, but didn't really end up with anything I liked. I've uploaded it anyway in case you want to use it http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7752006/1/anydash-icon-v2.png

I'm doing an update shortly.. if there's an app not working people want working let me know so I can add it in.. and if any Google Voice users want to help me get it working let me know as I'm in UK so can't even test it
So far I've got Talk and I'm working on Google Messenger, Plus, Now (how can you trigger notifications in now?)
Notification Access
Notifyer is now able to use Android's Notification Listener Service (Android 4.4+) to provide a more accurate unread count for the majority of apps. Choose between Notification Access or Accessibility in the count behaviour options for each widget. Accessibility may still work better for certain apps.
Beta Testing
Notification access is now available in the beta channel and provides a much enhanced experience. Any help to test out this crucial new feature will allow me to get it released and then to move on to some nice new features and improvements! Notifyer now also uses Material theming and provides better adjustment options to correctly align Notifyer widgets.
PM me if you're interested in beta testing.
Thanks
Notifyer
Hi everyone, here's my app Notifyer. Provides a notification bubble over your app icons like on iOS.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.cornwall_solutions.notifyer
Notifyer runs as a Notification Listener Service and/or as an Accessibility Service, you just replace your regular app icons with 1x1 Notifyer widgets and then choose which app to monitor. Settings are provided to adjust for alignment, size etc to blend in with your launcher.
Cheers guys, let me know what you think.

The widget should just show up in your widget list as normal, I've attached a pic of what it looks like on my phone but it will vary depending on your phone and launcher. If it's not there then maybe restart the phone and if that doesnt work then uninstall and reinstall.
As for the boot loop I have no idea what could be causing that. Do you have any other accessibility services enabled besides Notifyer?

They should just occupy a single square in the grid on your homescreen the same as a regular icon. If you open Notifyer and go into the settings then you can play around with the icon size, text size and a few other things to get it looking how you want it.

App title cut of with Nova
Hi,
I am using Nova Launcher on a Samsung Galaxy S2 with android 4.3 (SuperNexus 3.0). With Nova settings I changed the desktop raster to 6 rows, 5 columns.
With this settings, the name below the icon is not completely visible. Look at the screenshot to the "NOS Teletekst" app.
The first icon is a "normal" shortcut, the second a Notifyer widget with size 1X1, the third a Notifyer widget with size 1x2.
I hope you can fix it. Now I have to set the icon size to 90% to keep the app name, but then the icons are smaller than the standard icons.
Edit: adding a screenshot is not allowed. I have not posted enough until now.
Is there a moderator who can help me?

Hi Vlad, thanks for purchasing Notifyer. I have just emailed you with a solution that I think will work. Here it is for the benefit of everyone else too.
To fix this problem you need to open the Notifyer+ app, then click on your Phone widget, then click Alternate App Notifications. Here you will see a list of all the apps on your phone including some system apps. You need to look down this list until you see an item in the list where the second line of text says "com.android.phone". There will be several system apps that have this as the second line of text, it doesn't matter which one you select.
This problem came up in one of the recent Android updates and I haven't had the chance to update the app to fix it yet. But luckily the Alternate App Notifications setting can be used to work around it. I think they must have changed one of the package names relating to the contacts app which has a knock on effect with Notifyer and the way it maps missed calls to your Notifyer widgets.
Hope that helps, Cheers!

Is there plans to update the app to use the notification listener from Android 4.3 and up?

Hi Callum, good question and it's something I've looked into in quite some depth. The main problem is that the notification listener service is good for displaying individual notifications, but it doesn't particularly lend itself to counting notifications.
Think of a messaging app like Whatsapp for example. When you receive a new message the notification listener will tell you. When you receive a second message without having read the first one Whatsapp will replace its existing notification with one that tells you that you have two unread notifications but there is still only one active notification. Notifyer doesn't actually know how many messages are there, it can't read the notification and it cant see into Whatsapp to find out, but it can count each time a notification arrives. Now imagine that you go into Whatsapp and read one of your two new messages. Now Whatsapp will update its existing notification to say that you have one new message. Notifyer can see that the notification has been modified but the problem is that Notifyer doesn't know how much the count should go down by (how many messages you actually opened). At the moment it just works by resetting the count to zero whenever you close down that particular app, which is possible with accessibility services but not the notification listener (accessibility services can see other things than notifications such as what app is currently occupying the screen).
That's just one example but bear in mind that in top of that, different Android apps work in massively different ways when it comes to notifications and unfortunately the notification listener service just does provide all information needed for Notifyer to figure an accurate count.
Hope that explains it, I know it seems crazy not to be using it for an app like this and I was slightly disappointed when I realised that it wasn't going to work.
Cheers,
Tom

2.0:
- Lock Screen Widget
- Redesign with transparency and new icon
- Configure transparency for each widget
- New Dark Mode
- bugfixes
If the widget stops working after the update, please readd it. I am aware of an issue where the widget may lose recent conversations, this has been fixed for future updates...
The widget looks really nice, but damn it my Sony Xperia Z has not received 4.3 update yet...
Does it support lockscreen widgets?

Looks great, will definitely be using

If widget goes live on homescreen , so that we can type there only..
F yeah!
Are we maybe one step closer to a quick reply type pop up?
Like it!
But, IMHO, it must be a little bit wider
Getting error 920, can't download :/

Thanks for sharing. If you're taking feature requests, a transparency option and making it. available as a lockscreen widget would be amazing.

I really like the widget, but why have it its own padding?
It don't fit in my concept

Device not compatible at&t s4..
Can you post the APK for those that don't use the Play Store?
Installed!
It shows up as #9 on the list when searching "hangouts widget"
Anyways, it's visually appealing and I like how the plus sign takes you directly to current messages or to create a new one directly as well.
I'll see if any new messages appear on the widget since you say it doesn't show old messages
when I install the widget I can't send any messages in Hangouts anymore. It will just try and retry to send forever. Need to uninstall widget and reboot the phone to get it working again.

Maybe... The thing is I can't actually interface with hangouts so I would have to fake the input needed to send the message...

This app is completely independent from hangouts and uses notifications to get the messages, so it shouldn't alter your ability to send messages at all... It is more than likely just coincidence that it is working now and not then.
