Depends on battery capacity, charger output (nexus 5 charger gives 1.2A output).
What do you mean by 5?
USB 2.0.
Fast charging works perfectly on nexus 5. If you want to try it then some of them I can recommend.
Sony CP-AD2 USB 2.1 amp
ERD Mobile charger USB LP-27TC
Sony EP881 Quick Charger
Thread which shows nexus 5 fast charging works perfectly.

Actually I want to buy fast charger, so I recommend it to others. When someone will reply he can tell me whether one of these 3 charger is good or not?
Creating new thread do helps me but I was searching threads for fast charging. So I posted here.

Yes, I found that thread earlier and replied for help. But no one quoted me. So I again went on search for that thread and posted in 2-3 similar threads the same thing for help..
Leave this discussion now. I have to find out myself for fast charger.
I think moderator should close old threads? I found many.

Really helpful video! another question here, What is the USB port on the side for? for charging your mobile device or something?
Yes I believe it is
Glad my video is helping people, as was its intent!
Yeah, the extra USB port is for additional charging. Charge your one battery in the charger and charge the other in your phone.

[Q] Qi Chargers?

I have seen lots of Qi chargers which only support single position charging (meaning that if you lay down your phone slightly away from the center of the pad it will stop charging), and I think that it wouldn't realistically be any better than just plugging it in since it is such a hassle lining it up just right. Now I have been looking around the internet for some time when I came across this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oaXcJZgmp4
Now in this video, what is demoed at the CES 2013 Qi booth are wireless chargers which are not single position meaning you could theoretically place the phone at the corner of the pad and it would still charge. So my question is when and where can I buy one? I currently have a nexus 4 and I would really like to get into the whole wireless charging thing, but I don't want a single position charger.
You tried searching? I'd like this too and it's the only reason it's keeping me buy a charger for it

Charger for Nexus 5

I want a charger with longer wire than the one which comes in retail box. I was going through this Nokia AC-20 charger. Can someone tell me if that will be advisable to use with N5? The output of that charger is 750mAh, so I guess it will take some more time to charge which is fine with me. Should I go for it? Is there anyone who uses the AC-20 charger?

Personally I would go with wireless charger. I have the Google charger at my work desk and a different one at home I use as my nighttime dock.
Problem is that these chargers are not much available in India, moreover the prices are too high.

I don't use car chargers as I don't think they are safe! A simple crank of your engine causes the voltage to go up a lot... Even though the branded ones are totally safe, I prefer not to use them..
However, here is one which I'm eagerly waiting for... http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-air-dock
Why don't you just buy a longer 6ft+ USB cable and attach it to the charger?
The plugin part of the charger is the important part. The port is a standard microUSB cable so you can use whatever cable you want.

I was trying to use my old Nokia CA 101 which is a long cable than other but the charging time was way less than the stock one. Currently I'm using a Nokia AC 10E which belongs to my friend. This charges my phone really quick and comes with a long cable. But I have to return it this weekend. I tried looking for it in ebay India but unable to find 1.

I think you need a usb 3 cable.

Phone not charging the same speed when using non OEM charger.

The title say's it all. When I use the included charger the phone charges much more quickly than when I use a 3rd party charger. I've tried a variety of different charges all with the same result. I know this was supposedly fixed in the most recent update, but it seems to still be affecting me.
AFAIK, most 3rd party chargers that I've come across only output 1A, such as my old iPhone adapter.
The one included with the OPO outputs 2A.
This is the same with my note 3 adapter outputting 2A which I've tested and performs the same as the OPO adapter.
I heard that the OPO usb does make it charge faster too. Saw someone on this forum tested it, can't remember which thread though.
Using Galaxy S3 charger took forever, I charged now with the OPO one and it went 20% in 20 minutes.
the S3 charger gives 1.0A, while I have also the Asus TF101 charger which gives 2.0A....
I will verify later the cable too.

Link that the OPO usb makes it charge faster? I use a usb cable from a previous phone bc the OPO usb is too short.
mcbyte: ASUS TF101 is 2.0A? I thought it was 1.2A

it's the same with my Note 2 and my Note 8. They need 2A chargers, otherwise it's sooo slow, like the OPO.

I was trying to find a app that keeps track of the charging rate but I didn't have much luck. That would be a definite confirmation. But yeah, I would for certain want to know.
I am pretty satisfied with the charging rate right now though. Using my Nexus 5 usb with the oneplus one wall charger. Alternatively, I have the blackberry folding charger which is 1.8A charges really fast as well even though it isn't 2A.

Car Charger For Nexus 6P

Nexus 6P just announce yesterday, google said it support fast charge, 5V @3a, TOTAL 15W, but never mentioned if it support qualcomm quick charge 2.0 . Since the Nexus 6P use snapdragon 810, it suppose to support quick charge 2.0?
But anyway, since the nexus 6P use the type c port, the regular car charger won't work it, at least you need to prepare another type c cable or adapter. but today i will recommend a tronsmart type c car charger:
<MODERATOR EDITED - LINK REMOVED>
With this car charger, you just need to plug and charge your nexus 6p directly, and it also offer another port which support quick charge 2.0. So if your family have the old nexus 6 or samsung s6 etc, they also can get quick charge.
Let me know your thought about this little cool car charger?
Couldn't you just use an old quick charge for the car, and just replace the cable with USB c one?

Yes you can, why wouldn't you be able to? The charger uses a USB 3.0 port from what I've heard but it doesn't matter even if had a SUB 3.1 Type-C port instead on the plug. The phone will determine how much power it can pull from the charger and its backwards compatible with QC 1.0 plus its no different than QC 2.0 from what I've seen it just uses slightly higher rates but the overall output is the same. The output is actually about the same as the Nexus 6's charger which is 14.4W because this one is 15W.
I was thinking of this one and getting a usb-c cable.

Have you got the UK link? Would be interested in buying one.
Just to clarify, the Nexus 6P has a USB 2.0 socket, not 3 or 3.1, but utilises the USB-C 3A charger for fast charging.
USB-C ≠ USB 3.1. One is the plug type, one is the speed of data transfer. :good:
Here you are!
I haven't enough posts to post links but stick amazon uk in front!

Ah, yes. The one I have at the moment is only 1.1A on each port so if using satnav it drains the battery. Wasn't able to find that one in 3A.

From what I've read this won't do fast-charge on a Nexus 6p, since the Nexus 6p does not support Quick Charge 2.0, but instead USB-C 3.1.

As far as I can tell, the nexus 6p won't support Qualcomm QC2, which is what this uses. I could only find one 3A USB-C charger on Amazon, and I have no idea whether it would work. I'd look for things designed for Chromebook pixels and macbooks and not something that advertises Android compatibility, since most Android phones don't use USB-C.

Yea, was reading the same thing earlier.. and its very disappointing that they decided not to use QC 2.0. I really havent been able to find anything that supports the 5v/3a spec for a car charger, and google doesnt list one in their store either. Hopefully new products will start showing up soon.

It still chargers just as fast according to Google so I hope that proves to be true when people get it. 1-100% in 91 minutes for a 3450mah battery is pretty good by any standard.
So, we shouldn't be looking for quick charge Chargers but USB C certified chargers at the 3 amp rating?
