I'm really concerned about the camera quality of the new update. Is the camera improved in the update. Can you please share the results of the camera.

Improved Camera but bug with Flash exposure
Just updated my Xperia L to 4.2 and overall I'd say the camera is improved. Focusing is faster and low light pics without flash come
out very nice however there is an issue with flash exposure wherein all pics clicked with flash come out very under exposed even if exposure compensation is set at +1 or even +2 for that matter. The correct exposure is displayed in the viewfinder while composing but the saved image is severely under exposed. Have yet to discover any other bugs. Hope this bug is sorted out asap.

Thanks for the review but have you tried some other camera app like Camera360, Cymera, CameraFX etc.

I'm disappointed that the status bar toggles are still like they were in 4.1, I wanted like they're in 4.2 AOSP.

By simply changing the brightness level to -2.0 you will no longer have a blur - it's like changing the ISO on a camera and the FPS will jump by over 50%. check it out in full here: http://www.fuzemobility.com/decrease-the-blur-of-your-camera-really/
Very noice...I'm flashing a new rom and will try these when setup. Thanks

Agreed- It''s so freaking obvious once you think about it A simple change and suddenly the camera is functional...I'm just happy I can take photos of my son without that streak of his arm moving...
Man this camera and video camera is so much better now. It's pretty sad to say that this is getting almost as good of quality as my new Nikon Coolpix S550
perfect, just perfect
Thank you.

try to enable the frame rate (it's in the registry and detailed on the fuzemobility link in the first post) and tell me if you see a change in frame rate if you don't mind. It should be most significant in dim settings - bright light shouldn't have a blur without tweaks...
Thank you! This should be made sticky!
Hello All,
Good day & Regards.

its specifically for AOSP based Android 4.2.x and works well on any CM10.1 based rom and the alike.
Not for Touchwiz though.
There are two versions--
One without the Photosphere that has the below listed features....
Here is the list of the features -
Revamped with new interface and more options.

Is it a software or hardware thing? I mean the noise and shutter delay and video/picture quality. Do you think it can fix via software update in the future? Or we should accept rightnow that the sony advertisment of XL is not true.
I also compared the front facing camera of samsung galaxy s3 mini and Xperia L. The s3 mini has better quality when it comes to low light.
It's a software thing. Many people said that there is a diffrence between quality of photos on dirrent software update's. Defently Sony will fix it.
Ahh thanks for answering. I will keeo my xl for now and wait for the upcoming updates
I am at 1.36 and quality is way better but video recording will go lag on low light
Before, i tried to use the LG camera for video recording. Try it. It has a better setting than the stock

Yup I tried different 3rd party camera apps but they all lag on low light. on .17 this is fixed
Ahh. I will wait for the new update. I hope this camera problem in .17 will be fix. Do you still using .36 fw now?
Is there any app that will correct the noisy images of Xperia L?
My phones has the latest official update but photos are still grainy
Use snap cam. It's much better than the stock one. Just change some settings manually and you're good to go. Also the autofocus work well.
Hit thanks if it helped
Is there any port of Sony smart social camera working on XL? I've tried some, but none work.

Could you write down which settings you would need to change ? Does the focus work well on CM11 ? Thanks.

I haven't used cm11 so can't tell. Stock works good for me.
Try adjusting the white balance for different lighting situations. Use ISO 100 or 200 if you are clicking outside with enough lighting.
Also you can try using different saturation and contrast levels till you get a perfect picture. I can't tell you the exact values since these vary with lighting.
All the best
Hit thanks if it helped.

Even I tried some but they didn't work for me either. Their working depends on the framework itself and thus they don't work with other devices most of the time.

if someone port sony camera framework to cm it will possible work perfectly
Hey guys, I'm looking for a new camera app. Currently I'm running CM10.1 nightly, with what I believe is the stock android camera. It's nice and all but I'm looking for a few simple features that aren't on here. I want a camera that focus' while you tap on the screen (instead of taking the picture), the stock camera already does this. Secondly, I would like a self timer. And lastly, a slow motion feature for video recording.
Is there a camera app/apk out there that does this already?
Focal.

Hm..I do like the UI and they do seem to have a lot of features, but this is in early beta. I just played with it for a few minutes and crashed twice. Im definitely going to keep it and see where the updates go, but are there any other camera apps out there? Give me any of your suggestions! Theyre very welcome!
Have a look on the Play Store, there are tons of camera apps available.
PS. I've used Focal on Sense and aosp and it's never crashed on me.

Using Camera Zoom Fx...... seems good.
Stock seems fine to me, used ProCapture before.
Stock just keeps getting better for me.

+1 to snap, simple and lovely app..
Really the only thing I'd like is a burst mode. I like that when taking pics of the kids playing. Otherwise I used very few features of my old sammy cameras so the stock app is fine for me. I don't suppose there's any way to add a burst mode to it - any mods or anything?

Same here. I've purchased quite a few and none beat this combo for IQ. We really are at the mercy of the hardware.
Just got Lollipop, retried FV5, and definitely love its manual iso and exposure time control, as well as raw dng support. Processing the dng files with PS express, I get great results in low light, noticeably better than stock hdr+. You can browse thru the dngs with slingshot and share/ send them to PS express
Camera FV-5 only support PNG (for now), not DNG.
I hace FV5 v2.23, not sure whether it is beta still, but it does support everything I said in full resolution on lollipop nexus5.
Check their website or Facebook:
http://www.camerafv5.com/pages/raw-samples.php
I turned on manual focus via google camera and all has been good for me. Stock 5.0.
