Is it just me or the camera glass on the rear seems to bulge out a little bit more than the rest of the body. Also i dont see the "nipples" introduced in the nexus 4 as a hardware revision later towards the rear bottom. If thats the case, wouldn't it be easily scratchable??

Yes the lens is a poor design and no nipples. The back is plastic and the speakers are out the bottom not back anymorr

At least the speaker phone will probably be better. Without those nubs/bumps on the back, the speaker would be muffled by the surface it rests on.
At least the back isn't glass.

Get a clear back cover to keep the phone slightly elevated up. That's what I'm going to try.

I just had a closer look, seems like there is some sort of ring around the camera glass protecting it, I am sure google wouldnt let such a big design flaw into the final product. We should be fine.

Yeah, some pics/vids show a white tab on the lens surround,,,it took me a few seconds to figure out it was a pull tab for a lens protector for shipping. It has to cover another, harder lens protector over the actual lens.

So its nothing to worry about. I hate having cases on my phones. Takes away that genuine feel associated with the originality of the device!!

Hi, i had another tread i just don't know how to change the name , anyway if u want to take sharper picture's and video's then take the backcover off and you will see how much sharper it is I'll include one pic (8mp left) with cover on, and one without (5mp right).
you need to eat your bananas they're about to spoil...
The cover is kind of a pain to take off. It doesn't seem like it would last very long if it were taken off and on constantly.
Edit: I'm not sure if I see a difference or not?

No I took the backcover off and put it in a Flex protective cover from tmobile and its still tight and nice.

If you carry it around like that you're bound to scratch the lens or damage some other part of the phone before too long.
I have that same cover BTW, I really like it.

Agreed not the best looking cover in the world there. As for the pictures the second set seemed no different though the first did. Curious Sam, are you running a custom rom or the original software?
I noticed no difference on mine at all. Did you clean the back of the backcover?

when you want to compare 2 pictures to make an example, the camera needs to be in a fixed position so you can get 2 pictures from the exact same lighting angle.

I think it's a very clear type of plastic. I work in a lab and we have all kinds of glass and plastics. It resembles the kind I use on some test tubes.

I'd guess it's just standard glass.
high grade plastic.. Just judging by the way you can see some distortions (for lack of a better word) in really bright light.

Haha... well I also suppose they would go for something a bit clearer knowing that there's a camera behind it. If not clear, a plastic that's a bit more scratch resistant. I really doubt it's glass let alone gorilla glass.
I think its the same type of plastic used on the lens cover of the Desire. For that reason i'm a but worried because the desire's scratched easily and became blurry from carrying the phone around in a pocket. Mine even had a crack in it.
Since the Desire had a removable back this was not a problem, you could replace the back or, as i did, push out the lens cover completely. But this is not possible One X. One X takes very good videos and photos and i dont want to ruin it with damaging the lens cover so i will definitely place a protector on it asap.
Wondered the same thing when buying it because it seems without a case the phone rests on the lens when played on its back. Got a case soon after just incase though, but i'd love to know for sure.

It doesn't actually rest on the lens, per se. It rests on the lower edge of the metal ring.

The ring's edges do not seem to stick out, so it is exactly on the same level as the metal ring. For that reason whenever i place my phone on the table, i place it with the screen down.

It's not. It isn't cost effective, the optics wouldn't gain much from it because they're not the best. And the lens focuses past the lens cover.Just like a filter on a dslr.
Hi I wanted to give a quick review of the sticker boy skin I received the other day for my note 8.0.
I have been using sticker boy skins for my gadgets for some time now and they have never disappointed. Their quality has always been the best out of all other skins I have tried. I usually opt for the metal series but this time because of the look of the note I went with the white carbon fiber one. The cuts are perfect and they wrap the edge up to the silver trim around the side. For the best fit with out wrinkles a slight heat with a hair dryer will help it wrap the corners. I did apply the side wraps as well but did not apply the bezel skin yet. I am not a fan of anything on the screen. No other reason than I am anal about that. All the cut its fit perfect. Even the cut out around the camera which was concerned with before I got it was perfect. Their quality seems to hold up to anything I throw at it. Sticker boy customer service is always a pleasure to deal with as well. Quick shipping and always available to make right on any quality issues. I will try to post pictures later.

I just purchased an ATT SGS4 after having an SGS2 for two years, and I'm still getting used to its larger size. I usually hold my phone in one hand, with a finger on the bottom/USB port. I continued to buy the SGS4 because I seem to be the only person on earth who actually prefers a plastic phone body to metal. I hate touching metal (it's a weird OCD thing).
The area around the micro USB port is metal, though, and when my finger rubs against the edge of the port, it feels sharp and slightly raised. And after holding the phone for a while, it irritates my finger. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hate you burst your bubble, but the "metalic" frame is polycarbonate plastic, just like the rest of the phone. It just has shiny silver paint.

See this guy knows what I'm talking about...
The USB port "hole" is punched out of the main phone body and a notch in the plastic back cover. On my phone at least, the seam isn't perfectly aligned, so when my finger rubs against it, I feel a rough edge.

Just watch multiple breakdowns yourself and you will see lol, also it's the trend for all Galaxy devices since the Galaxy S 4G
It is NOT an entire polycarbonate shell.
Link you in a minute.
Also magnesium alloy is extremely light and durable. It's going to remind you of plastic when side by side.
Well, I returned my phone and got a new one. It seems like such a minor flaw, but it was bothersome. The new phone thankfully does not have the same problem and has a smooth seam.
Omg. I thought the sides were all metallic until this post! Damn it

This was done on a tear down and it sparked and cracked like magnesium does. It's a great design to be honest, strong yet extremely light. Stronger then aluminum actually.

i recommend a gel or similar case or otterbox or similar case even though it could take alot of beat up and still work. It just for the finer area like the camera to prevent destruction...

There's a factory installed "screen protector" on the lens cover, which doesn't interfere with the picture quality.
I'd like to think this will provide a decent amount of protection, although nothing will make it bullet-proof less an Otterbox defender or similar (no THX).
I hope the protective film holds up for a while before peeling back,& I'd guess there'll be protective films available on eBay soon,if not already for sale.
Myself,I'm gonna use a liquid sealer on both the display & camera lens cover,I have just enough left over from when I used it on my Note 7:
