[Q] CWM Recovery not working on HCL V1 tablet - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I have HCL V1 tablet and I flashed CWM Recovery 5.0.2.8 on it. Using the command
dd if=/mnt/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3
I used mtdblock3 instead of mmcblk0p3 as i don't have mmcblk0p3 file in /dev/block folder.
I booted into CWM recovery mode and I got the following errors:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/ last log
I tried to do Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe Cache in CWM recovery mode . Everything was done successfully.
After it I booted normally, but nothing was wiped, everything was as it is.
I also tried to flash a custom rom and it was flashed successfully but when i rebooted I WAS SHOCKED.:crying::crying:
my rom was not flashed and i got the sucking stock rom.
I also flashed different CWM recoveries like 5.0.2.6 & 5.0.2.7 but when i try to boot into recovery mode my tablet hangs on boot screen. So I flashed 5.0.2.8.
XDA DEVELOPERS gave me lot of knowledge about Android, Rooting, Flashing......so on.
I know i will get my answer HERE:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
My device Details:
Company: HCL
Brand: Me Tablet
Model: V1

Here is a link for CWM Recovery (5.0.2.8):
Check your PM..(XDA not allowing me)
=>After downloading extract Port-HCL.7z.
=>you will get recovery.img
=>Put it in internal storage (NOT IN ANY FOLDER)
=>Open Terminal Emulator, type following commands:
su
dd if=/mnt/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mtdblock3
Bro you will get CWM Recovery 5.0.2.8. But its not working any more as you read in my post.

carliv's recovery in Lenovo A269i

Hello everyone, I don't know if I am posting in the right section, if not, please help me in finding the right one.
Can anyone please direct me where I can download the factory ROM for Lenovo model A269i. MtkDT accidentally got deleted with backup of the ROM. Now the phone is stuck on the Lenovo logo when I was trying to root the phone. Sorry for my bad English.
Edit:
I have booted successfully the phone and installed carliv's recovery but the recovery doesn't open system, data and cache partitions.
Carliv touch recovery
I have been able to port Carliv touch recovery to Lenovo A269i, but can't test it as my phone was soft bricked. recovery can't mount /system. From all the researches I have made, I need factory rom for the phone to be able to recreate the partitions and to test the recovery.
All credits goes to Carliv for this successful porting of recovery to the device. I can't post in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825722 as I have fewer than 10 posts.
Carliv recovery
Hi I have been able to successfully booted the phone in android 2.3.6. Already rooted it and installed carliv's recovery which I modified, but the recovery cannot mount /cache, /system and /data but in root explorer and adb, /system, /cache and /data opens normally.

sorry for late reply, I was very busy.
First of all, you WILL HAVE TO BACKUP your rom with the latest MTKdroid tools (v2.5.3 can backup the phone)
Secondly use framaroot to root your phone.
then use carliv recovery to create a custom recovery.
Again, Do NOT FORGET TO CREATE A BACKUP OF YOUR WORKING FACTORY ROM OR YOU WILL REGRET IT WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG. If mtkdroid tools takes very little time, it may mean that it hasn't backed up your rom.
Well, use google to find the tools mentioned above.
hi i just got my 269i,and i rooted it however i would like to install a custom recovery for functions like NANDroid backup/restore and for flashing custom roms. I have tried rom manager but my phone isn't supported. You said you have a custom recovery installed(carlivs touch recovery). I would like to know how you did this(step by step process) and download links to the recovery image file you used if possible

Atlast i got the solution for this problem the stock ROM flashes the stock recover after the phone get rebooted.
To avoid this we have to do the following steps
• go to /system/etc/
• rename the file install-recovery.sh to install-recovery.sh.bak
• Then i flashed the PhilZ Touch CWM recovery using the following method
• Terminal emulator (root) :
- put recovery.img file on internal sdcard
- open terminal emulator
- type :
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=dev/block/mmcblk0p13

If you want the stock recovery back inoder to install the software update

• rename the file install-recovery.sh.bak to install-recovery.sh
• then the stock recovery will be reflased
Press Thanks button if i helped you:victory::laugh:
I can't find install-recovery.sh in the directory. Is it okay?

[Q] How to install Nokia x ROM on Karbonn a21

Hi I folllowed the article in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2675715 which tells how to install nokia x into Karbonn a21.
I installed CWM Recovery 5.x.x.x(I don't remember the exact number).
Then I wiped the cache, data and Dallvik Cache.
After that I tried to "Install from SDCard" > then selected the Nokia X. Zip file
The CWM says, looking for Update.zip and tries to install Update.zip
after 1 min it says update has been installed, after rebooting I can't see the nokia look and feel.
Should I use only twrp Recovery, or CWM is fair enough.
Why does he search for update.zip, can't it install everything inside the ZIP file?.
I did tried to install the TWRP through the fastboot but after that my recovery mode stopped working. I may have to fall back to the CWM recovery now.
Finally, let me know anyone who tried to install this on Karbonn A21 and succeded.
same problem....i've been trying to find a solution....no progress....
or else Can anyone provide twrp recovery for karbonn a21 ??
can anyone plz give idea to install twrp recovery in my karbonn a21!!
will b overwhelmed if so!!!!
