[Q] Installation aborted - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I’m really new at rooting and was just following videos…
I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3113 (with CWM recovery) no problem…superuser app all good. I found droidcheats youtube video to install the CM10.2 (cyanogenmod) Jellybean 4.3 rom
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uooLuG0Ydr8&list=WLjdPTB2mWRMy4mUvbarAjZEaZRdNawRmD
I downloaded the rom, google apps, tablet ui, and CWM recovery update.
Xda Thread from Codyf86:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showt...
ClockWorkMod Recovery flashable update:
https://www.file1.info/Rzhs9La
Checked USB debugging, moved files to device, unplugged and put into recovery mode, now 6.0.1.1 version, updated CWM, advanced boot recovery, now version 6.0.3.7, wiped data factory reset, wiped dalik cache, flashed rom….installation aborted.
Looks like I installed the wrong rom file.
Now I’m stuck in recovery or at reboot screen. I think I have the right rom file now but my computer doesn’t recognize my device.
I’m not sure what to do next…Can you help.
Thanks

sd card
I'm thinking if I install the correct rom from the micro sd card, it might work?

[Q] Device does not boot

Hello,
Just had issue with my Samsung galaxy S3.
A lot of sudden death and device freezes.
I installed the "[ROM][364MB][NB7]Revolutionary S5 V2 - Like your new Galaxy S5? [23RD MAR][FLYING][AVAILABLE]"
rom and since then i cannot boot my device.
After the installation was finished and just click the reboot option and its stucked on the boot screen(Samsung Galaxy s3 image)
Is it what's called a brick?
Is there any way to fix that issue?
I know i can get into recovery.
I'm having trouble with the sd card, I guess it's related cause it was working well before having issue with the device.
Any suggestion from you guys?

Do you know another way?

Sure. You don't need adb for installing a rom!
Perform a wipe
copy CUSTOMROM.zip* to your sdcard
install it via recovery
be happy again
*you can choose any custom rom compatible to your device.
The sd card is curropted for some reason.
I try the ADB but get the error attached.
Any reason what's wrong?
Or how can I fix this issue?

Don't use adb sideload pls. Just go to recovery --> format sd-card --> mount sd to computer --> copy rom.zip to sdcard manually. You dont need adb sideload
I format the external_sd
I mount the external_sd but can get the drive in my local machine.
do you i need to do something in addition to get the drive in my pc?
What Recovery Version do you use actually?
]Do You have the SIII gt-i9300?
If you have unbranded SIII GT-i9300 --> This is the best recovery avaiable PhilZ advanced cwm 6.19.3 . You can flash it using Odin 3.07
Latest usb drivers --> Samsung USB drivers
Your solution is good.
I installed this recovery and managed to mount my sd card and then install a different rom.
Thing I still have the sudden death issue.
I understood that any rom with version of 4.1.2 and above has that relevant fixes but its just didn't solve my issue.
Any suggestion about that?

Have you flashed full stock firmware once you're sd card is fine again?
I installed a custom ROM(Archdroid v2.4) and in the installation i chose the stock kernel.
Is that enough?

Do you have custom recovery ? if you have so then do a complete wipe (cache, factory data, dalvik) and try, if the device doesnt boot then flash your backup or stock rom in recovery
I installed a custom ROM based on stock and it reduced the freezes and sudden death big time but didn't solve it.
since the installation one day ago i had a couple of sudden deaths.
I did all wipes the recovery have to offer but I still see picture and old data I had.
No way to format the entire phone and then install a ROM from recovery?
Any other suggestion how to fix?

You can format everything using PhilZ recovery:
-->Mounts&Storage
Format /system /cache /data /storage/sdcard0 /storage/sdcard1
Then copy the rom to your sdcard and install it again. If that does not work you will have to flash the stock firmware once using odin before you can use a custom rom again.
Keep in mind that a custom kernel can cause system instability and errors.

I think you havent cleared data/factory reset your phone from cwm or twrp or else..
u need to do that + clear dalvik cache before flashing the zip..
But about the ROM u mentioned, is it really made for Samsung S3 ? :/

Samsung Galaxy S2 Telus T989D stuck on Koodo logo after rooting

Hi There,
So, I have a Samsung Galax S2 Telus SGH-T989D phone and I decided to root it using the 4.4 KitKat and it went well and everything was great.
However, afterwards to resolve some other issues I was having I decided to make the mistake of loading the gapps which was for another
package into my phone and that messed everything up!
So, I have been struggling with the phone and first it wouldn't let me install another ROM from recovery and kept on giving me error 7 and 6
But, I fixed that and now I can install any ROM from the recovery or Odin (download mode) without any errors.
However:
The phone vibrates , brings up the galaxy logo and then the Koodo logo appears and a bar fills up quickly under it but it never goes away!!!
Phone freezes there and that's that!! Even after taking out the battery I noticed the logo was still stuck on the screen where as normally
it goes blank!!
So, at this point I am not sure what else to do! This is annoying and I'm tired of experimenting. I went through some XDA foroums here and
tried the Super Vipe (taking out the battery has been tried, factory reset and wiping the cache all have been tried)
So, please please please help me out here. I used to have a MyTouch4G which I rooted with CyanogenMod back in the day and it's the most
stable thing ever and all I wanted to do was to perform the same thing on my Galaxy S2 and boom not this time!!!
Awaiting your response and thanks in advance

Thank you for your reply. However, as I've mentioned before, I've already tried those (from ODIN and through RECOVERY) with multiple different
ROMS and it's not doing anything which is why I am posting this here.

Did you perform a FULL wipe? Custom recovery -> format ALL partitions except EFS?
I have tried the Super Vipe off the SD card through the recovery mode and also from recovery I've tried the wipe cache,
factory reset and wipe cache partitions.
I am not sure about "format ALL partitions except EFS" nor am I aware of the procedure.
How would I perform that?
Have you installed a working custom recovery?

Yes I'm able to successfully install recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7-hercules or CWM_Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2
from the recovery without any errors (same if rooted through Odin)
If there's a specific ROM you are thinking about please let me know and I will be more than glad to give it a shot.
You really should use a newer recovery version. But for now go to mounts and storage and format all partitions except EFS. Then try flashing stock firmware via Odin
Here you can get the latest recovery for your device --> TWRP for hercules

I was able to finally bring it up!!
Basically I looked for a stock firmware for T-Mobile and after formatting the phones multiple times I tried this ROM
using ODIN and it got rid of the Koodo logo and replaced it with a T-Mobile logo and then it BOOM loaded to start screen finally!!
I was about to hammer the phone. So, trust me I was very happy to see it work.
Thank you for your quick and helpful response :good:

The first boot always takes longer as it is setting up, but no longer than ~5 minutes.
Anyway... If you've waited and it is boot looping, try these steps:
Make sure your recovery is up to date.
Wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik cache.
Flash ROM, gapps, and any addons
Wipe cache and dalvik
Reboot. After first reboot is complete and on setup screen, wait 5 minutes and reboot into recovery.
Wipe cache and dalvik again. Reboot
This reboot could also take ~5 minutes, but the others shouldn't as long as you don't wipe cache and dalvik.
You should see an "Android is Upgrading" screen. After this is done, complete setup and you should be good to go.

Back to stock rom for now, prepare (charge until full).
Re-root, then reboot to recovery to try again flashing the rom.
Always format /system, /cache, /data/media first when installing different roms. Good luck

Stock rom is working fine? Is root working on stock?
Did you get any errors while flashing costom roms?
I remember a folk here got a same problem as you, and i think it's not resolved yet..
Maybe you and him have a "special" devices.
Don't worry, it's not a problem with your ext-sd because i use it all the time. and if it was ext-sd problem, you'll get an error while flashing.
I suggest messages devs in developement section, maybe they can figure out what is wrong.
And of course i think it's not safe to restore others nandroid backup, so don't mind find it.

Like I said earlier, you should have flashing stock rom first to remove root via odin/hemidall.. you can find it at sammobile, com
then re-root with link i gave earlier again via odin/hemidall, and format in recovery like i said earlier. no wonder you still fail..
you should have philz touch recovery instead cwm if you succeed.

[Completed] Can't boot into my Custom ROM

Hi! I just installed a new Custom ROM for my phone. After 5 minutes I wanted to create a backup. So I started ROM Manager. I entered the name, and hit OK. The phone booted into a crashed recovery mode. So I took the battery out and rebooted the phone. It didn't boot into my Custom ROM. It booted into recovery. So I am stuck inside the recovery mode and can't boot normally.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Mini (GT-S5570)
Recovery: CWM Recovery
Custom ROM: CyanogenMod
Hello,
If you can boot into the recovery, do a factory reset and flash back the custom rom. And then reboot the device, once you rebooted the device will boot into system. And then you're done!
Good luck!
HashyCode. :good:
It still puts me into recovery

Hi, i would like help you with this problem as I myself have experienced it. The things that you should have done are:
1. Always make the backup early on before installing the Custom ROM.
2. When installing a Custom ROM, make sure you have not replaced core system apps
3. Make sure your there are complete symlinks in your ROM otherwise it be hard bricked. Ouch.
4. Before installing a Custom ROM, make sure they are from experts, like CyanogenMOD, and sure your device is supported for updates.
5.[Most Important] The only things to wipe when installing a ROM are : 1. Cache 2. Dalvik Cache 3. User Data, never ever ever ever WIPE your system folder with root access on it. This will always ensure that you will reboot into recovery, and it will be annoying to root your device w/o ADB USB Debugging on.
6. Make sure that there are no system apps missing on your Custom ROM, check for the legibility of the Custom apps installed. Are they pirated perhaps?
7.[Very Important]Always watch a video tutorial for it's errors, and search how to Unbrick your device first before proceeding with an installation.
So that if any problem arises, you will be sure to restore it to it's Stock experience.
8.[Absolutely Important]Make sure that your software counterparts on the PC are compatible and functioning well first before you proceed.
Now tell, me which of the following did you not do?
And if this really helped you a lot, please like. For the sake of those who did their research.

Hello,
If you can boot into the recovery, do a factory reset and flash back the custom rom. And then reboot the device, once you rebooted the device will boot into system. And then you're done!
Good luck!

Try fastboot?
Hi,
No one seems to have suggested using a program called fastboot. It involves just installing some essential software on a PC, then running the program "Fastboot" along with the desired options.
I strongly suggest trying this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277112
I am always flashing ROMs and then trying to tweak them and end up messing up the bootloaders, or somehow breaking the system. And then i try using CWM or TWRP and still there remain issues. However, fastboot has always done the job for me.
Hope this helps.
Someone help me with my problem please ??
Use Fastboot!!!

kinnngzzzz, you too should use Fastboot! See my post right before yours...
So again, see this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277112
I say if fastboot can't get it fixed, nothing will. :victory:

[Q] Bootloop after flashing custom ROM. Fastboot and recovery still working.

Hey, so I just bought a Moto G LTE and got very excited about the amount of dev going on here (coming from an LG Optimus F6 which has almost none). Right way I unlocked the bootloader and rooted. So far so good. Then I flashed TWRP recovery and everything seemed fine. I downloaded the ParanoidAndroid ROM and flashed it, and the phone got stuck in a bootloop (with the PA boot animation). I then went back into recovery, did a reset and flashed BlissPop. Same issue (bootloop is now in the BP boot animation).
So now I'm not sure what to do. I can still get into recovery. I selected factory reset through recovery, and on the top of the screen it says "Factory Reset Complete", but on the log it says "Updating partition details..." and just stays like that. Rebooting just takes me back to the bootloop (still with the BlissPop animation).
Anyone have a clue what could be wrong here? Is there a way to check if there's anything I messed up along the way?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello welcome, i think you will like this device.
First off, what exact version is it? the XT1039, XT1040?
Anyway. To flash a custom ROM you will need to:
Go to TWRP. Select Wipe and then Advanced wipe.
Then you check:
Dalvik Cache
Cache
Data
System
Internal Storage
Usually afrer come from Stock KK to any CM12 based or AOSP ROM from android 5.x you will need to wipe Internal Storage, something that factory Reset just wont do.
Then you will flash/install
Your Prefered ROM (Paranoid Android is great, BlissPop as well. I'm using Euphoria, another great ROM)
Flash the GAAPs (preferable the one who the dev of the ROM you have chosen say to)
And done. Reboot your device.

Hey, thanks so much for the reply!
I'm not sure which exact version it is, is there a way to check without having to boot the phone?
I did the advanced wipe, however now when I click reboot it says "No OS Installed! Are you sure you want to reboot?" Now that I wiped the internal storage how do I flash the ROM (it was saved there and is now deleted)?
Thanks again.

You must always put the OS flash zip on a MicroSD card.
How ever you can put the USB cable on the PC at TWRP and it should reconize your phone so you can make a file transfer
YOu have done a nanobackup on a micro SD of your KitKat?
If you can't put the rom on a microSD Card (but i really advise you to do) or your PC wont see your phone on TWRP to copy the ROM there...
There is ADB Push

Good idea to use a microSD, don't know why I didn't think of that. I re-flashed from the SD and now everything works! Thanks so much for your help, really appreciate it!

No problem m8, hope you enjoy the device
On an unrelated note: the one thing I love about my old phone is the stock music app. Is it possible to port it onto this one? I got the APK but when I try to install it it just says "Application not installed". Does this mean it's not possible to use it?
