I am from the Philippines and I just bought a 2nd hand ATT Samsung Infuse. It is still on the stock Froyo OS but rooted already and unlocked as well. I purchased this with the 4G data feature not working. Anyone here knows how to make it work on our local network here? Any help will be very appreciated! Thanks!
I have been reading qkster's thread regarding heimdall's one click and have downloaded the jar file for it. It just won't launch for some reason and there is no run as admin option as well when I right click on it. Help please!
You know the infuse does not have 4glte, it's only an upgraded 3g that is considered a lower 4G standard. I think that is what you mean?

GTalk video is allowed over 3G for sure. As soon as there was an update for my NS, I have always used it with 3G without any issues.
Which version of NS do you have? The one from TMO? If so, I guess TMO does block any app which would do such over 3G... not too certain but atleast I am using my Rogers NS without any troubles.
Edit : Never mind about which version, as I noticed your sprint logo after I replied.

It's not available in the market AFAIK, it came with the OTA. Are you stock or running a custom rom?

If you have any rom wih 2.3.4, you should have the gtalk video support. Check the rom and see if developer has got the support for it or not.
IMO you should go back to stock and try it out. If you are rooted, this should not take a long for you to test/check if gtalk works on stock.
it is the one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078213
it is the stock rooted rom
I am rooted running current miui, it works but only over wifi. I get some message about my service provider blocking it. So right now its just used on my xoom.

Hey everyone
I have been tiring to look up how to root my Samsung SGH-I896 that is on Rogers in Canada but have haven't been able to find and think that matches my phone info. I will list my firmware and other info if some can point me in the right way that would be nice.
Model = SGH-I896
Frimware = 2.3.3
Kernel version = 2..35.7-i896uxkh2-cl296008
Build number = GINGERBREAD.UXKH2
Thanks
I have the same phone and believe me it's not as easy as it is for the us users. Rogers actually takes code off the phone so that it's harder to root or unlock. I had to factory reset and use an at&t software instead of Rogers. After that everything was easy. Use one click root or anything like it

I dont recall having any issues with rooting my phone back in the day. I recall being able to use superoneclick to get the job done on stock gingerbread.
Although if you are planning on installing a rom on your phone then root isnt required. Just flash CWM and then flash a rom. The roms come with root already installed on it.
I have tried super oneclick and it hang up at step 7 but maybe iam doing something wrong. I will try again later tonight. Thanks alot guys

Download the latest SuperOneClick Root. http://www.multiupload.nl/VGCN3ZTFM8
It should work with your captivate. I used it to root mine and I did it on GB too.
Thanks guy i just got home and tried the latest version and it worked. Only thing is that when it roots it then my menus, and when i go to call some on run every slow. I un rooted it and it put everything back to normal. And ideas?

PS I highly recommend cm10, i never imagined my i896 could run this fast.
I am trying to put cwm10 on it now but iam getting confused. What yo flash to it. look like everything is for i897 or has a different modem number so i don't know if i can flash it to my phone? At this point i was hoping that some that has a i896 phone on roger would post a link to the post that they used for there phone. But i may just have to try one i finded and.hope for the best.

i896 and i897 are almost identical with minor differences. You can use i897 roms on the i896 without any issue.

I have the rogers version, I've unlocked it to use Koodo as a provider and have also installed CM10 (runs beautifully!). They are the same phone, ours just does not say at&t at the top of it (Samsung instead). I never bothered with rooting, which was a waste of time anyhow... move on from Gingerbread and you wont look back, I swear!

So I'm a total newbie here... so I don't have to root to get ICS or JB on my Captivate with Rogers? How exactly? I looked at the Heimdall method, but I still don't really understand.

See TRusselo's Guide. It is up to date.

I used Superoneclick with both Froyo and Gingerbread stock Rogers versions and it rooted just fine. Just need to follow the instructions.
I think for Froyo you had to do some really stupid stuff, like plug it in and take it back out 2-3 times but other than that it always worked great.
Worked so well I even made a donation to the developer.
If it hangs on you, I would suggest reading the thread to see if somebody developed a method that works. My Froyo image wouldn't root so I read the Rogers captivate thread and somebody posted telling me how to unplug and plug it back in, worked well.
I think I might have screwed up... I installed the unzipped ROM onto my external SD rather than the zipped one... what do I do now???
Can you get into recovery?

In that recovery go to mounts and storage. Then select mount usb. Then u can copy from ur pc to ur phone.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 (T-Mobile) and it includes all the unneccesary bloatware. Since I'm not a T-Mobile customer, I would prefer not to have all the extra T-Mobile applications, so I was wondering when rooting with Odin 3, instead of using T-Mobiles stock image, can I possibly use a different carriers, like WIND Mobile.
The instructions I got were from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687
When I tried using the WIND image on my T-Mobile device, rooting fails!
Any suggestions?
BUMP
You probably can some way, but you could also just use the T-Mobile one and de-bloat after root.

Yea, I've tried that already but the issue is I want to remove the T-Mobile Hotspot application that they've integrated into the stock hotspot which does not seem to remove (cannot be found in the applications).
Any other suggestions?
Can anyone confirm getting there at&t skyrocket to make calls threw T-Mobile's Wi-Fi calling feature running a stock Hercules Rom on the T-Mobile network of coarse. Tried Jedi mind tricks 4.1.2 and I keep getting "Error: REG09 "Missing 911 Address"
If you know of anyone that has gotten Wi-Fi calling to work on a skyrocket can you send me a link to the thread?

Just curious did you flash a stock T989 ROM onto your skyrocket? any issues? did you use odin?
Also LTE should work with any of the skyrocket modems by default as long as the APNs are correct. There are threads and info on this in the skyrocket forums.
Yeah I flashed a few stock roms on it without Odin, using twrp and infamous wipe/superwipe and without infamous. Although when I did it without the infamous zips about 20% of the time on reboot it would hang on start up which was fine I just reboot and it was good to go. Noticed it hasn't done it since I reflashed with infamous though.
Lte did work just no hspa which is all I get in my town. So I put the stock uvmc6 radio in since 4g sits around 2-7mbs over here and that's more than enough. Heard you can get 2g,4g,lte with some blaze radio's but never cared to try. Only glitch I'd can't find a fix on JB for the screen rotation. It's all wacked out.

Oh most defiantly. There sister phones. But I've tried flashing I'd say about 4 or 5 different ones and no dice. I put an ics stock Rom and flashed a fix, worked fine. my brother which who I gave it to would rather live with vertical movies and sideways camera on JB than go with ics. Haha but if you know of one that works on Jb can you share the link?

I have an unlocked G2 from Verizon, rooted. 8 have all the carrier settings in place, but I have a couple icons on top of status bar that I want to go away. Do I need to install a TMO ROM for that? There is a SIM card symbol, the roaming symbol and what looks to be the GPS, but the GPS is off, slim assuming it's the global symbol. Any help would be nice.. thanx...

I think most of us understand the different carrier bands.
The phone itself is unlocked. So it supports GSM. The question is mostly is there a ROM that will give an equivalent support for the ROM to act like the GSM tmobile ROM

did anyone figure out how to get t mobile rom properly loaded onto verizon g2? I been working on this for a while but it doesnt even let me flash it. gives me error message could not open zip.
You can try doing this.
All models are the same hardware with some minor difference. CDMA VS GSM has nothing to do with flashing roms.
What I would do is get cloudystock rom and unzip it. Inside of it you will see a folder named variant. Get copy all those files from your variant folder and paste/replace on a tmobile rom with 7zip.
There you will have a tmobile rom with all the requirements from your model to work.
Let me know if this helps. Good luck
