Hi all,
I am wondering if there was different versions of the nexus s, before google/samsung settled on the current version.
Wondering if anyone had any pics on any developer or tester versions.
Were there any limited edition versions?

All I know is that the limited edition have that transparent android logo as a back cover.

the pre-release version that Eric Schmidt held is pretty much the same thing as how the NS is now.

The Nexus One was released on January 5, 2010. The phone was sold via Google's website, at a price of $529 without a plan or contract, or a subsidized $179 when purchased with a T-Mobile USA two year contract. Google announced in May 2010 that the online store would close, and the phone would be offered in retail stores.
Sprint was to release their version in march but 1 week later announced they would not and went with the HTC Evo.

The Nexus S was first spotted on the lap of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt at Web 2.0 summit in November 2010.
Here are some images:

And here is a video:

To my knowledge, no one in the public ever spotted the Nexus S before this time.
As you can see, it seems exactly the same as the retail model.

Hi,
We have Sprint as our carrier. I want the Nexus Prime and another family member on the same plan really wants the iPhone 4S for herself, but only one of us is due for an upgrade. So, we will have to buy one through the upgrade pricing and pay the full price for the other. Any guesses as to which one might be cheaper and should be purchased vs. bought through upgrade pricing?
From what I understand, it's unlikely that the Nexus Prime will be on Sprint. Verizon is what I keep hearing.
Seriously? Now you are making me just sad :'(
The nexus prime will be on all carriers if anything. There is also speculation that the Verizon version will not be nexus and have touchwiz. More like the GSII HD LTE that was released in Korea. My guess is the iPhone will be more expensive off contract than the nexus.

World phone?
By the way, have there been any rumors about it being a world phone? Or based on the current rumors it will be tech specific (CDMA, GSM)...?
Why guess when chances are you'll know for sure a week from now? >.>
Wasn't the 4s announced that it would be a world phone (cdma with sim card)? As far as pricing, idk off the bat but iPhones never drop its full retail value until the next model is announced. Nexus on the other hand, can be found at different sites for different deals as time goes on.
Besides, iPhones hold value better than other phones when sold on Craigslist, so that may be an option as well when the nexus is released.

Android OS is free so there is obvious price cut, it will be cheaper than iPhone 4S
Nexus S
Pretty sure the iphone 4s will be more expensive.
The reason ?
They can, and everybody will be buying one anyways, without regard to what they actually need.
meh.

Huh? The nexus phones are 499 off contract and some android Phones even hit 7 or 800. This logic is completely flawed.

Funny what i heard is Verizon might have a slight exclusive with the release of this phone but theirs might not be a real nexus phone.
Why not let her use the upgrade you convince her to give you her old phone"hopefully its something will some resell" then pick up the nexus prime off contract then sell both phones. Or just trade them both in to sprint and buy from them off contract(not sure if they still buy back phones) sprint price will be cheaper than best buys for sure
Of course the iPhone 4S will be more expensive. The iPhone has always been the most expensive phone on the market and the most overpriced, IMHO.
Still, it will most likely outsell the Nexus Prime
I am looking to buy the Nexus 5. Not now but in march of 2014, do you think this will still be considered a higher-end device then? I am stuck in a Verizon contract until then and plan on switching to t-mobile. Any answers will be very appreciated.
No one can answer this. We'll just have to wait till March of 2014. By then the HTC one 2 and s5 will come out so who knows.

Buy it if you want the phone, it's relatively cheap. If you're planning on setting up a T-Mobile postpaid account, then since you are bringing your own device you will be considered "upgrade eligible" and able to purchase another device on their contract/nocontract/subsidized pricing plans if something strikes your fancy in the meantime. If nothing else comes out that you like, then enjoy the Nexus 5 until the Nexus 6 comes out and then put it up on the resale market. No, you won't get all of your money back, but you'll get some of it back.
Personally, I'm exceedingly happy to be back on a Nexus device due to the fast updates, and community support that generally gravitates around these types of devices. I am love with my Nexus 5. I've gotten set up on the $30/mo T-Mobile prepaid plan, and so far, I've been very satisfied.
FYI, could be worth the early termination fee in cost savings. Friend of mine just paid an ETF and will still realize savings in 3 months. That is coming from Verizon.
Worth looking into!

Thanks for all the replies, i guess i will just wait until march considering i just bought a galaxy nexus.
Hello friends.
A friend of mine is going to spend a week in Orlando in the U.S., would like to know where he can buy a Nexus 5 to bring to Brazil. Thank you.
Hey, what's up? I live in the Tampa area. I know that T-mobile sells the Nexus 5 over here, but they sell it for like $100.00 more than Google sells it. I heard Google has White 32gb Nexus 5's available with 1-2 day shipping. Good luck....

Bestbuy and Sprint stores have it as well. It doesn't matter which store you buy it from, there's no difference.
Like "dave2metz" mentioned, these stores charge $449 for the phone vs. $349 in the Google Play Store.
I live in Orlando, let me know if you need any help.
Hello guys, i'm going to visit a cousin in the USA and i'm thinking of already ask him to buy a nexus 5, the case and the screen protector so i just need to get it with him when i arrive there.
My first doubt is: as i live in brazil, i was reading that some guys are having problems with 4G connectivity, and i read that if you are going to buy nexus 5 to use in Brazil you need the model D821, cause the usual model D820 will cause problems with the 4G frequency here, so... as i want my cousin to buy it for me (probably on Google Store), does he need to specify during purchase that he wants model D821? anyone that lives in another country with another frequency get through this?
And my other doubt is: I read on many reviews on amazon, people complaining about things like "i bought case X and screen protector Y, but they are not good together, the case is taking my protector off...", i'm thinking about take the most common "combo" on amazon, the Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case for LG Nexus 5 and the iSmooth LG Google Nexus 5 Ultra Clear Premium HD Screen Protector, and i would like to know if any users of the forum use these together and if they make compatible together.
Thanks already
As for the case combo I would look into the spigen screen protector it is a dry one and I prefer dry ones over the invisishield and it is much cheaper 3 for like $8.

you cannot specify during the purchase process whether you want an 820 or 821. if you're in the US and order a nexus 5, they're gonna ship you the variant that is supported in your region. in this case, the 820. the same goes for purchasing a nexus outside the US. you'll have to look online for either a used 821 or find out how you can purchase an 821 from a non-US play store.
Is it possible to flash different radio in D820 to make it compatible with other regions?
No

So is there any way that i can ask my cousin in the US to buy there to me a D821 model (with the price near the google store's one )? idk, maybe amazon or something.
He said you have to either find one from the non play store or purchase a used one.

It's so sad. All the other places have a big difference in terms of price compared to the google play of US . i think i will keep my nexus 4...
But for example, if i take the nexus 5 D820, i will lost 4G here in my country but i can continue to use 3G?
Can't you just use a proxy and purchase it that way?
