I have an HTPC in my living room, I use Windows Media Center to watch and record TV and XBMC to watch movies and tv shows. I have been using a mouse and keyboard as my way to control everything, then i recently started using my phone, with all the apps out there to control different software i found this preferable, and i just ordered a used nexus 7 off ebay that I'll be using as my main media center remote.
Does anyone else do this? Post pictures of your home screens with widget layouts along with what apps and services you are using. Once i get my nexus 7 i will update and post mine.
the 3 main apps i am using right now on my phone are:
Yatse - very nice looking and customizable XBMC control app.
My Media Center - An app put out by Ceton (i have an infinitv made by Ceton in my HTPC to watch cable tv) to control windows media center, I have found it to be the most featured and best looking Media Center remote.
Unified Remote - great app that has remotes for tons of different windows programs, also a standard mouse and keyboard input is available on it. the paid version allows you to create your own widgets with any of the remotes it offers, very useful.

I'm looking for an android app (or even a web interface) that will allow me to:
-stream live TV
-stream recorded TV
-stream videos
-view the TV guide
-manage TV recordings (set and stop recordings)
From windows media center.
I have searched a lot and found numerous apps to remote control wmc but not the features I'm looking for.
My current setup is a HTPC running windows 7 enterprise with a ceton infinitv 4 tuner. I have used orb in the past but orb does not work with the infinitv cable card.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have heard about remote potato and the remote media center app but from my research it does everything I want EXCEPT stream live TV.
Wow orb was an option for free i don't know about recording
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Ya I liked orb. Any other options?
I don't think any android phone right now could render WMC recordings. I have WMC setup with a HDTV tuner and even my prevoius 1.8Ghz computer could not handle decoding.
I haven't found any uPnP servers that don't suck. uPnP in general to me just sucks.
Try WinTV Extend. Its now for android.

I have a tuner from them but have to pay still...
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G on the network with the most backhaul, whatever that is. This post might have errors as I hate touchscreen keyboards.

Thanks for the suggestion but I wanted an app that worked with windows media center. If it allows me to stream live TV I guess I could just use that app and then another to watch and schedule recordings on wmc
Check out the ipad version on youtube for a demo. Its made for wmc. Its doesn't seem bad for $10. If you have a dual tuner you can watch and record at the same time.

So I checked out the youtube demo but no where does it say it works with wmc. I also tried installing wintv on my htpc but it won't install since I do not have a hauppauge tuner. I only have a centon infinitv quad tuner. I'm going to assume wintv only works with their tuners.
Yep. The software interfaces only with their drivers. Tv tuner cards are super picky with drivers... be glad its not the nightmare linux is with mine

Oh trust me I know. I've tried setting up mythtv with my old tuner and it was horrible! There's no Linux drivers forvmy current tuner so I have no choice but to use windows. But honestly I love wmc and there are very few ms products I can say that about.
There used to be a plugin for WMC called webguide:
http://web.archive.org/web/20100105155914/http://asciiexpress.com/webguide/download.aspx
Support has expired (still works on XP or Vista with older version of wmc). Researching for alternatives has brought up this:

It should work via android browser. No live TV though :/
If you want live TV your going to need additional hardware (slingbox, VULKANO, hava, Broadway)
I have a similar htpc setup and was looking for the same thing. The hassle for live TV is making it way overrated for me. Streaming of recorded content seems like the best solution.
Sorry to bump an old thread. Any progress since 07/2011?
I've been using WMC + slingbox since 2009 for this.

It can only be done with 2 types of hardware:
Slingbox or hauppauge.
Otherwise you can just stream your recordings via plex or pogoplug. I am to busy to watch something live so plex works out best for me.
If your a sports fan then just buy one of those streaming season passes and split the bill with 5 people.

It does live TV over android with Remote Potato as well
This thread has been dead for many years. Now it is almost 2015.
I have a WMC on my PC and it has as a PCI turner. I get my programs free OTA and record to this PC. No cable box or dish.
How do I watch my record TV or live shows from my PC to my Android phone?
Any ideas?

I agree, you should have started a new thread, but I use Remote Potato on my HTPCs running off a Ceton InfiniTV ETH 6 network tuner. On my mobile, I use the Remote Media Center paid app to schedule and stream recordings. A bonus is that RMC has a built-in remote control screen that interfaces with Remote Potato's IR helper app...

Thank you very much! I didnt know this.
I got it working on my computer and can watch n record my show thru the webpage.
However thru the phone its a little problem. I can see my recorded show and TV grid, but I cant play it. Do I need to install a separate app for playing? The RMC app cant play movie?

You're welcome. You need a media player app, but if it's encrypted or DRM-protected content, you probably won't get it to play on anything but the device which recorded it.
I myself use MX Player. It's free.
Hello all,
I've read a number of threads that dance around this topic/question but none that answer it.
Is there an App that will enable an Android smart phone to remotely control/advance a Powerpoint Presentation on an iPad via Wi-Fi or Blue Tooth?
...without jailbreaking the iPad?
FYI: I've come across a thread post offering this solution (enterpriseios website) but don't know if it'll work and would prefer not to try.
"If you jailbreak the device you are trying to control, yes. There is an app in Cydia called Veency that is a VNC server for iOS. You can then use Screen Sharing on the Mac, or one of the many free VNC clients (such as UltraVNC or TightVNC) on a Windows machine to view and control the target iOS device. You can even view/control the iOS device FROM another iOS device with a remote desktop app like Jump."

I know how to control your iPads media with your android device :
Developed by BOJA, iRemote iTunes WMP is an app that allows you to control your iTunes library using an Android smartphone. It works over both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and we found it to be the simplest and easiest to set up among the handful of apps available.
To get started, you will need to install the Android app on your phone along with a server app which you have to install on your Windows-based PC. Once the server is running on your computer, open up iRemote on your Android device to get started.
iRemote is a free WiFi and Bluetooth remote for iTunes and Windows Media Player WMP on Windows (XP,Vista,Win7)
Remote control iTunes and WMP on your Windows desktop, laptop, notbok or tablet. Plug in Apple AirPort Express to any speaker in the house and get the ultimate iTunes remote control sound system.
Enjoy the gourgouse [sic] UI and rich feature set of this inovating [sic] remote control. iRemote iTunes and WMP is the only dedicated iTunes and WMP remote control supporting both WiFi and Bluetooth connections.
No user settings required! Simple out of the box support connecting over WiFi and Bluetooth.
We have tested the app on our Samsung Galaxy S II unit and can confirm that it works as advertised. While it does do what it says, it looks spectacularly ugly in the process. I’m not saying this because I’m some sort of UI snob, but I do appreciate a user-interface which, at least, doesn’t make you look away in disgust.
Another issue we had with the app is how much of a dent it makes on the battery. In our limited testing (which didn’t last more than an hour), we found our phone’s battery going down faster than usual. Opening up Settings > About > Battery usage proved our suspicions to be true:
Still, it is certainly worth a try if you’re in the market for a remote app for your iTunes library. We couldn’t find a better alternative, but if you know of one, please let us know! We’d love to cover it!
There are two versions available: the Free one comes with ads, does not allow you to search your library for that one song and it also does not allow users to play a song by browsing artists or albums. The paid version, which costs $3.00, obviously lifts these limitations.
Clarification?
Problem. I don't think this answers my Q.
I'm looking for an APP to remote control "media" on an iPad (iOS) with an Android ...not iTunes media on a windows based PC.

Thanks for any help. I am looking for a app with programable buttons to play pc games from my android. I had one a long time ago but I can't remember it. What I mean by programmable buttons are this, like I use to be able to put a track pad on screen to control mouse movements, with adding any button to the touch screen like mouse click wsad. Etc. Thank you for the help. What I really am doing is wanting to control my pc through my phone on the couch which is to far from my pc and I don't want a wireless keyboard .
I found one, called splashtop hd gaming, but it wasn't on the play store cause it told me it wasn't compatible with my device. I found it on a weird site and downloaded it for free and it works fine and what I wanted, but I would like to have the play store version for 9.99, any way to by pass Google's obviously bad attempt to tell people what apps will and will not work on our own devices?
I use Unified Remote. Can't remember how much i paid for it, its been a while. But it works really well, and has various styles of remotes you can use. Media player remotes, Hulu, Netflix, Simple mouse control and keyboard, etc. There is a free version as well, that lacks some of the remotes, but you can give it a try before you buy.
