The usual set of questions - does your PC see anything when you plug in the tablet? What does device manager show?
A solution that has worked for me in the past with this issue is switching usb ports. I know it sounds crazy but on multiple computers i've found this to be the sole cause for odin or my computer in general not recognizing my device when the drivers are installed.

check for kies to be closed and his background process to be killes, if you do not have kies try to install it to have latest drivers and the stop his background process.
by reboot mode you intend download mode? or recovery? you should see an android man with written "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!" under him!
if you do not have this screen you are not in download mode.
if you are there try what i suggested before and EVERY usb port on you computer!
if also like this you do not find your way try heimdall!
nvm

P6210 USB Connection problems on windows

No matter what I do I can't connect my GT-P6210 co PC using either windows XP or Windows 7.
Always get the same error "USB Device is not recognized".
So it's not visible in Odin so I can't flash anything to it.
Install latest KIES, unsintalled it, latest Sumsung USB drivers, installed universal ADB driver etc.
Nothing helps. Tried different USB cable.
All the same result.
Any help would be appreciated

tab 2 10.1 usb not found by computer

so im trying to root my samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 (with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957165), but when i boot to download and connect it to the computer, it doesnt even find it. i decided to try it normally, but still nothing.
heres a list of things i attempted to fix the problem:
downloaded kies and redownloaded the drivers
try with debugging and without debugging
change usb from pda to modem and back to pda in phoneutil
try all usb ports
its still not fixed, please help
Uninstall KIES, only use drivers e.g from here http://downloads.k0k0.de/redirect.php?r=fr_SamsungUSBDriver
Maybe Clean-Up your drivers first ( http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html ) and reboot you PC after that, then install the new drivers.

What is the device listed as in device manager when connected to PC?
Have you tried connecting to kies?

Are you sure you have the correct firmware?
If it connects then doesn't connect, it might be a faulty USB port on the device or a faulty USB cable, if either is worn out it won't connect or stay connected.
