Rooting is not working
This method is not working for my Optimus net.
I also tried gingerbreak separately, and even the new zergrush methods in superoneclick.
I even tried with full factory reset just in case.
Can you confirm which android version it worked with?
Mine is 2.3.3

3. the driver installation - i have installed LG suite and its drivers. should i uninstall and install some other ADB drivers instead?

How i did it:
0. disabled driver signing in my Win7 home ultimate.
1. downloaded and installed latest drivers from LG site. connected phone , enabled USB debug and allowed driver installation complete.
2. DID NOT FACTORY RESET ..saved me trouble. But did copy contents of SDcard to my computer just in case.
3. disabled the USB storage, re-enabled USB debug.
4. Opened cmd iin admin mode, just in case. ran the echo command. Note that /data/local/lge_adb.conf should be straight, without any spaces. there should be space bet'n echo, 1, > and /data..
5. rebooted
6. Downloaded and ran SuperOneClickv2.2-ShortFuse with gingerbreak exploit. (latest version). The process pauses/hangs at step 5. quickly disable and re-enable USB debug at this point of time. The rooting then proceeds smoothly.
Then you are informed that you have root.
7. reboot, connect wifi etc and update the SU app as it requests you.
Youre Done!!!

I found one ROM and well this one works.
http://www.androidworld.it/forum/lg-optimus-net-p690-187/%5Brom%5D-dardroidxd_0-1-lostfk-33044/
It has a custom kernel with clock speed upto 921Mhz,nothing fancy but its cool. This site is in Italian so use a translator(Use Chrome). I found that only this site has some P690 roms. They are already porting Cyanogen. Keep an eye on this site.

OUT OF DATE USE THE ONE CLICK 1.85 ROOT TOOL IN THE FORUMS
As the ROM chefs go to work, we want to be sure that we are ready to flash the ROMs when they come to be available! This guide will help you set up your phone so that you can flash custom ROMs.
After this process you will have a phone on the latest firmware (1.85 at the moment) with bootloader unlock, rooted, and busybox installed.
This guide assumes you are on a root friendly firmware (as of now, it is firmwares 1.82.502.3 and below).
This is really going to be done in a four step process. First we need to root the device in order to access the place where the CID is stored so that we can change it and get unlocked. After changing the CID, we can unlock via htcdev.com. Then we can go on to installing a custom recovery and finally rooting!
From there I will give you some tips on installing ROMs.
NOTE: THIS PROCESS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IT MAY BE A BIT CONFUSING. READ OVER THE STEPS BEFORE STARTING. IF YOU DO NOT THINK YOU WANT TO RISK YOUR DEVICE BECOMING A BRICK THEN DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. THIS VERY EASILY COULD RUIN YOUR DEVICE.
BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE STARTING AS EVERYTHING ON YOUR DEVICE WILL PROBABLY BE WIPED.
I, XDA, AND THE ORIGINAL TOOL CREATORS DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE. IT IS SOLELY YOUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT YOU DO TO YOUR DEVICE.

Your warranty will be void if you unlock the bootloader. If you just root though then you can return to 100% stock by running the RUU.
This guide is for Windows only at the moment though I will try to post Mac and Linux guides at some point.
ORIGINAL TOOL THREADS:
One Click Root for 1.82 and below: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1644167
Spoof CID Script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672284
I will try to keep this as up to date as possible! Taking a visit to the index of the development forums (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237) is also a good idea!

0. Getting the prerequisites:
Download the package at the bottom of the first post to get started.
Extract the package somewhere you will remember (like on your desktop).
Connect your device via USB and make sure you have USB Debugging enabled under settings.
Click to collapse
1. Root your device
1. Open the folder you downloaded and navigate to the "root" directory.
2. Double click on the root-windows.bat file
3. Let the root run and do not touch your device. It will reboot several times- do not touch it or you may brick your device. Just let it do its thing and eventually after around 3 minutes you will have a rooted device in your hand.
Click to collapse
2. Get the unlock token
In order to unlock the bootloader we will need to change a value called the CID. This will allow the htcdev.com site to unlock our phones.
1. Go to the downloaded folder and go to the "change_cid" folder.
2. Click on the "Spoof-CID.bat" file. Follow the instructions. Your CID will change from CWS__001 (stock AT&T CID) to 11111111 (called "SuperCID," will allow you to flash anything)
3. Log in to htcdev and go here: http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions (NOTE: This skips the agreements you need to click through as some of the buttons on their website are wonky. Doing this assumes you agree to their policies that are listed there)
4. Follow the instructions very carefully (they are written very well) untill the point where you get the file "Unlock_code.bin" via email. Stop there.
5. You should now have the file for bootloader unlock. MAKE SURE TO SAVE THAT FILE "Unlock_code.bin" TO THE "generic" FOLDER IN THE PACKAGE YOU DOWNLOADED! YOU WILL NEED IT LATER.
Click to collapse
3. Run the RUU to update to latest firmware
1. Download the latest RUU from the xda forums (should be an .exe file)
Currently it is version 1.85.502.3 and you can download it here:
http://briefmobile.com/download-htc-one-x-att-1-85-update
2. Follow its instructions very carefully. It will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. BE PATIENT. IF YOU UNPLUG YOUR PHONE HERE YOU WILL GET A BRICK.
3. Let your phone reboot and go through initial setup again
Click to collapse
4. Unlock your bootloader using Unlock Token
1. Navigate to the "generic" folder in cmd (you should have added the Unlock_code.bin file to this folder already) and plug your phone in in fastboot mode. To do this, first shut off your phone. Wait for it to turn off. Then hold the volume down button. Press the power button for 3 seconds while still holding the volume down key. Let go of the power button but keep holding the volume down button untill you see a white screen with a bunch of small text on it. Use the volume up and down keys and the power button to select the FASTBOOT option. Plug your phone into your computer. Then wait for the FASTBOOT text to turn into FASTBOOT USB.
2. Type the following into cmd on your computer:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
NOTE: This step might take quite a few tries. For some it works on the first time. For others, it may take around 20 times. Just keep typing in the command until you get a sucessful flash. We aren't sure why it does this at the moment but just keep trying and don't give up.
3. Use the volume keys to say that you do want to unlock your bootloader and wait for reboot
4. Bootloader should be unlocked! Congrats, most of the grunt work is done! Go to Settings - Developer Options - Enable USB Debugging. This will allow us to continue
5. Re-set up phone and enable USB debugging again
Click to collapse
5. Install a custom recovery so that we can gain root access
1. Currently there are two recovery options: ClockWorkMod Touch and TWRP (TeamWinRecoveryProject). Both are pretty much the same as they both use touch input but TWRP does have some other nice features like a built in file browser and more. It is also more touch optimized. ClockWorkMod is more "old school" and I personally feel more comfortable using it, but using TWRP is fine as well. It doesn't really matter which recovery your choose, both are good choices. Download whichever one you want below:
CWM Touch: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677304
TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1677447
2. Drag the .img recovery file you just downloaded into the "generic" folder
3. Connect your phone via fastboot
4. Type the following:
fastboot flash recovery <insert name of recovery .img file here>
Replace the stuff between the <> with the name of the file you just downloaded
5. Wait for your device to reboot. Then type into cmd which is cd'ed to the "generic" folder:
adb reboot recovery
6. Make sure your recovery works as soon as it is done loading and then press "reboot system"
7. Follow its instructions
Click to collapse
6. Root your system
1. Connect your phone as a "Disk Drive" and drag the "root.zip" file in the "root" folder to your phone's memory
2. Reboot into recovery with the adb command (adb reboot recovery)
3. Go to install zip from sdcard and navigate to the zip file you downloaded. Say "yes" and watch it flash
4. Reboot system now
5. Go to the play store and download any app that has "Busybox installer" in its name (the one by JRummy16 works good I believe)

If all goes well, you should be sitting at an AT&T HTC One X which is on the latest RUU leaked firmware (1.85.502.3 at this moment), rooted, busyboxed, and unlocked.
Congrats!
If you want to flash any ROMs, download the .zip file of the ROM, place it on your phones memory, and then install the zip like you did to the root.zip file.
Enjoy your AT&T HTC One X!

Some common terminology:
Deoxdexed: OEMs package their apps with .odex files because they are more optimized for your device. However, this makes the file uneditable by developers and things like mods cannot be used with odexed ROMs. A ROM with "deodexed" as a feature means it is easier to use mods with that ROM
Busybox: A collection of linux tools that are helpful for flashing ROMs and doing other basic Android tasks
RUU: ROM Update Utility, made by HTC, completely reflashes device firmware, useful if you get bricks. Only for Windows.
Root: Allows you to edit system level files
S-OFF: (currently unattainable) Security-OFF, it is a "feature" in HTC phones that allows us to modify almost any part of your system.
Unlocked Bootloader: Allows us to flash custom images to the device.

As I understand and appreciate the work put in this thread, do we need another how to? Using the index sticky alone anyone should be able to root/unlock/flash their device. There's already scripts for everything and virtually no ADB required for nubs.
I would assume with the other info already in this section if someone can't figure out how to flash their phone, then they don't need to flash at all.

Wasnt sure, there are still a few people asking how to do it since it is a bit complicated with the 1.85 update breaking root so I just compiled everything into a master one.
And yeah, I use a lot of the scripts in the package I put for download.
Anyway, mods do what you think with this thread! And this might be in the wrong section, wasnt sure if it goes in general or development.
Please keep this up. As it is the most aggregated list of instructions, I'm sure it will help many who have just gotten their phone. Great work by the way.

Why don't you read before you comment on things like this?
I never "Unlock the bootloader"
I simply get the Unlock token from HTC.
So stop acting like you know everything, because you dont
Don't ever use caps with me and expect me to come back with a nice response. I put this out for the community, not for some kid who thinks he knows it all to come back and say that I did it wrong when he didn't even read the post properly.
And you don't need root to install CWM, just an unlocked bootloader.
Stop calling my stuff wrong if you yourself don't even know what is right

He put his foot in his mouth, apology should be coming oh and Good job man, Good job. Thanks for the work, this should be a sticky.
This is a great write up and would have been extremely helpful last night. I will admit I have done a lot of reading before I unlocked the bootloader and updated to 1.85, but it was still very confusing at some points. The htcdev site actually gave me the most trouble because I didn't realize most of the steps were completed and I could skip all the way to entering the token and the site was simply used for entering the token and getting the unlock file.
And yes, I almost said the same thing about the relock step. I had to read it twice to realize you didn't unlock yet. That's another thing that confused me last night was unlocking/relocking immediately.
I think this should be a sticky and all the other tutorials and such should be deleted. This is a perfect summary IMO and will use it when I unlock my friends one x

My problem with this is that you packaged it all up while the individual threads for each thing are updating and you are severing up potentially outdated scripts.

I agree. While it is nice to have a all-in-one, you should be linking to the threads since they are updating them on a daily basis instead of linking to their scripts. Ive already had to change JeepFreaks script this morning as he updated it. It would make your world a lot easier if you did it that way, and also not risk giving some new user outdated scripts.
I think this should go in the General section as the first few pages should redirect to the original threads anyway.

I agree. This guide is very helpful for me. I consider myself to be fairly computer literate and have flashed ROMs on previous phones, but I am a complete n00b to android and linux. Looking around some of the other threads -- it appears to me that there are many people who could have much confusion resolved by reading this. Thanks for the thread.

Not quite sure what's going on with my update...
I'm using the exe that updates the RUU and it gets stuck on the "sending to phone" step. Reboots the bootloader once, gets stuck again (as far as I can tell , nothing is ever sent) and then gives me an error telling me "The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android Phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again"
i've got the correct drivers installed (was having some trouble related to that a couple days ago but have since figured it all out ) would it be better to just do the update manually? (On my evo you just change the update file to Update.zip and it automatically installs it for you when you boot into bootloader)
maybe I'll have to look into it further, but just curious if anyone's run into this issue or figured out how to get past it as of yet...
Edit: Just an update- I'm betting its because I forgot to relock my bootloader before updating. So anyone who's already completed SOME of the steps in the second post here, make sure you relock your bootloader if you haven't already done so.
Edit1.5: This assumption was correct and the bootloader is now unlocked.
Edit 2- Almost done here... Busybox wont install. Tried two different apps, neither one worked. No indication as to why (got very vague error messages to the effect of "busybox was not installed")
Edit 3- FIXED- Ok, figured it out. As far as I can tell, the process should be Root first, THEN install busybox. It doesn't work without root privelages (at least that was my experience here)

Hi mate,
first of all many thanks [email protected] for the first lollipop Rom for the 915F/FY
the first step is, dowload KIES for the device drivers and install it. Reboot your PC/Laptop. Now you make this steps
1. make a backup from your Rom in the recovery (phone off and 3 finger combo -power/home key and loudness up at the same time-), in addition you can backup your calls, sms and so on in the phone settings/samsung account
2. download the the files from the Rom page (firmware, Odin, cwm recovery ánd the autoroot by chainfire). I prefer one new folder (you can create it of your choice on you PC/Laptop)
3. phone off and with the finger combo to recovery and do a factory reset
4. phone off and now with 3 fingers -power/home key/loundness down to the download mode. Push on time the loudness up key
5. open Odin 3.09 and connect your phone with the PC. You must see the COM and added
6. open your folder with the firmware download and put the AP file to AP, the BL file to BL, the CP file to CP and the home CSC file to CSC. Have a look that ONLY autoreset and time is checked
7. push START
8. now you can drink a cup of coffee and wait until the phone reboots. This will take serveral minutes (since this is lollipop, it can take up to 10 minutes)
9. if the flash is ready you see the first setting. Do all settings there and you have Lollipop on your phone.
now to the root:
first have a look in the SettingsSystem/About device that the developer options are ready. Push 7 times to the buildnumber and you have it. Go to the dev options and choose the USB debugging. Go back to the Security and have a look that Reactivation lock is unticked also the Knox security is disable
1. unzip the cf-autoroot file
2. phone off and go to the download mode
3. open the unzipped autoroot file and set the .tar file to AP in Odin
4. Push START
5. now wait up the reboot. Have a look in the App drawer and search the superSU App. If all is ok you have root on your device but KNOX is triggered to 0x1
For the recovery make the points 2-4 as the root
now you can download this App or any other CPU controler from the Play Store and set the min. freq. to 300 mhz
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.cputweaks&hl
thats all, now you have a rooted Note Edge with Lollipop
kind regards
SetCPU
I had the same Problem with cpuspeed, SetCPU from Play Store did the job. Hope I could help
No weather info on the Edge Panel
I got no weather info on the Edge Panel. It is enabled in Panel settings, set to 1 hour refresh and location is fine. But still no weather. Anybody a suggestion???
"klick to get weather info".....
First off, i'm sorry if the title is misleading and/or belong in the wrong part of this forum.
So, I'm late to the party, just got myself a Z5 E6653 and when I look for guides on how to obtain root they kind of out-of-date. So i'm here to make sure the path I choose to follow will be the correct one as I dont want to lose my TA partition. As far as I know, according to this guide to back up my TA partition I have to downgrade to Lollipop, but I found something interesting about backing up TA partition on Marshmallow using dirtycow method (sorry Nougat users).
So, the steps I'm proposed is, if my device is already on stock MM unrooted, locked bootloader.
1. Go here Sony cross-devices development and download file called backupTA_v2.zip this shouldnt makes us need to downgrade
2. Run the BackupTA.cmd file if you're on windows
3. There will be errors about dirtycow failed but the script automatically retry, me myself got screen-full of retries before the script actually backed up my TA partition and you'll be presented with .imgfile called TA_devicemodel_somenumbers_timestamp.img about 2MB in size (am i correct so far? this is why i want to make sure this will work)
4. Save your file in a very secure place.
That concludes the Backup TA part of rooting process am I on the right path so far?
To get unlocked bootloader according to this :
Given that you have downloaded flashtool and installed the drivers in the \drivers folder in flashtool installation
!!THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA!!
1. Click the BLU button at top then open Sony developer website
2. Select device and follow instruction until you get a key
3. Paste the key to flashtool
4. THAT'S IT?
Now after this we can use fastboot command to flash kernel and the kernel includes recovery.
Are these steps correct so far?
I might as well add these here.
To get kernel and recovery up and running, I'll be taking androplus kernel for example, I'm assuming it works with stock ROM.
1. Get the kernel .zip here at Androplus homepage
2. And download latest TWRP recovery from androplus download page, at this time of writing it should be TWRP-3.0.2.2-e6653.img
3. Notice that it's in .zip format which we cannot use yet since we don't have custom recovery.
4. Open the zip file you just downloaded and you should see boot.img That's your brand new shining kernel, extract it outside put it in a folder along with your favorite fastboot.exe file
5. Go to fastboot, as far as I know you go to fastboot by turning off the device -> hold volume down then plug USB cable. (see note)
6. First, according to Androplus page, flash the kernel first using the command
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
7. Then the recovery
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP-3.0.2.2-E6653.img
8. Reboot by unplugging the USB cable
Note: some interesting thing I found while trying to enter fastboot or flashmode that it might not work if your USB port is powered How to tell if your port is powered? I'm not sure. You will have to change port and hope for the best ^_^

Ahaha, sorry. Those guides are "old" in android way of changing things very fast, and I haven't seen a guide which includes backup TA partition on marshmallow so I wasn't sure it'd work correctly. Now that I know it worked, I can proceed to unlock my bootloader.
Any tips or Kernel/Rom I should use for first time flash?

LineageOS, CarbonROM, eXistenZ, SunKernel..
Dear both,
I was just doing quite the same, so it was nice to read the short summary. Honestly, I'm doing these "Flash ROM stuff" very rarely, so I'm not 100% confident how to bring back those DRM/TA. I recorded it - the device came with Android LP 5.11, so this was easy done by iovyroot.
Anyway, I have the TA-backup - so I'm also going to unlock the Boot Loader now. :good:
Good to know I spend a day on reading so many related stuff, and it could be done in 4-5 min

I'm glad to find someone that is going to go through these procedures too! I will also proceed to unlock my bootloader what rom and kernel do you plan to flash?
Hi, thanks for this. I just got the Z5 today so my first port of call was coming here and finding out how to root it. I previously had the Z2 and Z2 tablet which I rooted last year with the help of the members here, I hope the process for this isn't too different for this one. I think I forget more than I remember so the guide is helpful.
First of all, don't get your hopes high, i rooted as traditional method like many others. I'm flashaholic and i started new thread for those who upgraded intentionally or accidentally and now think download would brick their sets. it won't. things are pretty obvious here but i repeat I'm sharing this to people who've upgraded for any reasons and have no clue how to downgrade or achieve root.
So i bought a cell (sm g920V) with preinstalled PI2 (MM6.0.1) . found out pingpong root is avail only for 5.02 . i was afraid to downgrade so i searched more. found out nogat 7.0 DQD1 has root. and can be rooted via cf autoroot. i upgraded and i tried. but it didn't worked. on nougat i did everything. tried every root app (both pc and apk ver) but failed. i decided to go back.
here i found This thread by @toutanje which said even i upgraded to nougat, i can safely downgrade to PK2 (6.0.1) , PH1 (6.0.1) and BOG7 (5.1.1) . i flashed BOG7 (5.1.1) directly because during search i've foundout that there is temporary root available for BOK7, and they both are 5.1.1. i did this because BOG7 is earlier version than BOK7, for this i won't have to downgrade but to upgrade that i did. i flashed BOK7 and headed Here, a thread by @klip1 . there wasn't any clear instructions not links no attachments. but thanks to @MrMike2182 who shared main file Here. BEWARE that you'll lose root each time you reboot, but you can gain it back easily by running root apk simply from your mobile. this is better then not having one.
so if you desperately want root. wherever you're on nougat DQD1 or MM. Downgrade to BOK7.
simply follow instructions there and all you have to do is to flash BOG7 from thread mentioned above (for safety as i did did step and i'm not sure if you may directly downgrage to BOK7), then flash BOK7, odin Sboot file (attached). you'll see some yellow codes above when restart. i was stuck there with bootloop on VZ logo. all you need to do is to factory reset. (by pressing and hold vol + & vol down + power button until you see black screen with options. press vol down and highlight second option factory data and reset. now press home button. )
phone will start normally, goto devloper options, enable usb debug, allow unknown sources and than root it with kingroot apk. done.
Those who prefer SuperSu can get lead from Here thanks to @EvilRubberDuck. but i am not sure about point 3. there is nothing attached at first post. tough little search may lead you to success.
Thanks to whoever took even little interst to make this beast rooted. please try to get permanent root for this device too. if anyone know how to get it, or any more info regarding rooting this device. please share. let me aware. i'll really appreciate that.
NOTE : i take no responsibility of what you do to your mobile. you're doing it with your own consent. if you're unsure what you're doing, don't do it. I, developers/members mentioned and xda are not responsible for ANYTHING or what you do to your phone.

If you use the SuperSU instead of KingRoot then you can use my installroot script and then the rootatboot if you need to reboot for some reason however if you are not near a PC at the time and you really need to reboot then use terminal emulator from the play store and open it and type su then enter and on the next line type pkill zygote and voila reboots without PC.

yes i've read this post of yours, i should've added this. Glad you came here and i really appreciate your efforts for s6 users. you've done great job for us.
it'll be great if you attach your script and write or quote your method here too. so users don't have to go through earlier threads and finding things. like me who bought this phone pretty late.
right now i'm using quickreboot apk to get hot reboot which keeps the root. but sometimes when you really need to restart. i see your solution as best.

OK so my phone is on 5.1.1, it was originally on 7.0 so you can downgrade back to the 5.1.1 firmware.. I've included in the file the eng kernel and eng sboot but there's different versions so this one in my file called boot.tar is from the eng kernel to the S6 G925V so if you're using G920V you need to get the eng kernel for that one.. Now first you put the phone into download mode and flash the eng kernel using odin and after the phone boots then using Windows command prompt navigate using the cd command to where the file is you downloaded called S6rootbyMrMike2182 once you're in there type installroot and the script should run and flash everything needed including busybox and then the phone will reboot (it will also boot just this one time without using the rootatboot because the same codes in this file too) now when you click on the SuperSU app it's going to say it needs to update su ignore it and go right to the play store and install/update the SuperSU from there and then the phone should be rooted and ready to go.. If you ever need to reboot for some reason connect the phone to your PC and open a command prompt in the same folder again and run rootatboot and it will set the phone as permissive again so it boots.. You can unplug it after you see the Verizon logo.. If for some reason you aren't near a computer and you really need to reboot then use terminal emulator from the play store and open it and type su and grant root access and then on the next line type pkill zygote and voila reboots without a computer
If you have KingRoot on your phone and you want to get rid of it to use SuperSU thanks to @Chainfire then use this script that I'm listing below.. Also keep terminal emulator open while you are doing this because you might(not all devices just some) get a continuous annoying popup that prevents you from doing anything (thanks to KingRoots junk) so you'll have to use terminal emulator to kill/end that process in order to continue and after you kill/end that process then go delete it immediately! Links to root with SuperSU and KingRoot removal are below!

By the way I nor XDA-DEVELOPERS is responsible for anything you choose to do to your phone! If something goes wrong, just reflash your original firmware but don't go blaming me nor XDA because I don't have to put this up so please do your research before messing with your phone and as always, make a backup of everything you wish to keep! And no this will not delete or wipe your phone unless you choose to! Links are above. You can change it or whatever just give props where it's due!!
SERIOUSLY MAKE A BACKUP OF ALL YOUR PICTURES ETC ETC BEFORE DOWNGRADING AND I'M NOT KIDDING!!!

ok i'm getting confuse here. can you please provide exact files that needed to flash on g920V please ? i mean eng kernel and sboot ? and the file with odin says "G920A_Kernel_Root_5.1.1_S****.tar", A ? isn't A refers to at & t ?
i'm afraid if i may flash wrong file. can you please help me here with exact files needed for us (G920v) ?
and when i'm running installroot via cmd, it execute it goes like it created by you until daemon started successfully for like for five to 8 sec and then disappear. phone doesn't reboot. nothing happens. ,
can anyone confirm if i can directly downgrade to BOK7 ? im currently on DQD1 also can anyone guide me how to actually flash my phone like step wise im new here.. I upgraded to 7.0 but I desperately want root now I've odin installed i just need some1 to teach me how to do it like where to select sboot file and other files

welcome here. first things first, i don't mean to discourage you but if you don't know about where to "put sboot and other files", you really shouldn't be doing this. additionally downgrading is a risky process where things get messy due to single mistake .
To answer your question directly, NO. i've read a post somewhere here that we can only downgrade to mentioned (in 1st post) firmware. OP there tried to downgrade to other fw but failed.
and that is exactly why i did long and safe procedure and downgraded to BOG7 and then BOK7. . both are 5.1.
2nd question : you need to put sboot file in "AP" section of odin. (be careful with using it)
i assume you have G920V, which have locked bootloader, my suggestion would be... its not worth it. trust me. even if you downgrade, and rooted too, you'll loose root if you restart your device. and you cannot install recovery and so on. there is no permanent root for this device.
Exchange your device for international version or so, either wait for it and enjoy being on nougat. devs are working on it may be. some claim to root nougat too. better don't downgrade and much better if you stop right there when you don't have basic knowledge about this. you'll end up having paper weight instead of device.

But on 5.1.1 my battery life was so good now it just keeps draining even on power saving just drain and drain I previously also upgraded using Odin from 5.1.1 to 7.0 (biggest mistake) and i'm regretting it although its much better it terms of improvements and performance i just cant live with this battery life also i need root for WifiKill and to hack in-app purchases .. and i don't reboot my device often..
so if im downgrading to both of these BOK7 or BOG7 i need to use the sboot file u provided right ?

alright. nothing to worry about. just downgrade like i mentioned on OP (for safe side as no one here to confirm)
okay so like i said you just need to put the provided file (all credits to original dev/coder) in AP section and flash after you install BOK7. .
i can only tell you about BOK7 as i've done and using this. not G7.
so after to downgrade to bok7, let it boot properly. factory reset your phone, go to download mode and flash attached file using odin. (uncheck all options but f reset time and auto reboot)
phone will restart, and you'll see some green numbers and something when booting. let it boot. go to dev options enable usb debugging. uncheck "verify apps usgin adb" and... root either from kingroot (comes with 100 of ads even on lock screen) or look at this post by MrMike2182 who gave us superSU :victory:

Quick question if i can root my device with this method it possible to install xposed framework via Flashfire?, just a question.
If not possible install xposed not a problem, better root than nothing, and i am not reboot so much, to say nothing.
And like say Muhammad Aliyan, the battery in 7.0 is much more less than 5.1.1
(Sorry for my bad english.)

i have tried it earlier and failed but now when i saw youre asking this, i gave it another try and i'm stuck on bootloop. lol.
better don't do it.
i've read it that xposed is not compatible to our devices (64bit) yet ( just read it not confirming it) + in xposed official thread, it has been warned that bootloops occur in samsung stock roms. soi'd say do not try this.

and most important part here : make a backup of everything. and i take no responsibility of what you do to your mobile. you're doing it with your own will. if you're unsure what you're doing, don't do it. I, developers/members mentioned here and xda are not responsible for ANYTHING in any way.
good luck :good:

thats strange because i had FP working while rooted from same sboot file that i attached.
try downloading from another source like in second post where mrmike2182 shared it. and try removing Samsung account (if its there, don't forget to turn off reactivation lock before that.)
see if it helps.

hmm. i believe FP didn't came friendly with this sboot. any experienced dev might help us out here
make sure you have proper drivers installed and have working adb. read instructions, search fourm. by the way, for same kind of issues, i had to go with kingroot.

I try a shoot.
Its working, its ****ing working, I sacrifices FP, and Supersu but I dont mind i have xposed and a root.
imgur(dot)com/a/zLvrD
Edit1: bad news activated module xposed requeried reboot, soo the root is lost and requiered to root again with kingroot the problem is my percent is not advance 01%. Also every time I rooted the phone is slowing arriving a point where it restarted alone and is only 01%.
If i a factoy reset i lost xposed and root or better reflash the Rom OK7?
