as far as i know its not possible to root

Why would you root a windows OS? Windows already gives you enough permission to do anything.

In my opinion also it is not possible to root this tablet

[Q] How to root as n Acer Iconia A500 with ICS

Hi,
I understand that there is a forum for this, but I am new and cannot reply to it. I have been reading the forum, Full root for A10x and A5xx ICS. Simple method. However i cannot get my A500 rooted. I have "allow USB debugging" turned on. I am running the insaller from an Acer Aspire 5845 running Windows 8. When I run the win installer, it says there is no device attached. I have tried to find an USB driver but I cannot find any driver that will work. I have researched and tried everything with no luck. Can anyone help me please?
Thank you,
Kent
Please Help
Could someone please help me with this? I have researched and cannot come up with a solution. Does anyone know why I cannot not my Acer Iconia A500 to be seen by ADB so I can root it? Any ideas?

Have you tried using Window 7 instead of windows 8? When you plug in the device, it should begin installing the drivers automatically, unless something goes wrong which requires you reinstall the drivers.
That worked! I am now rooted.
Can you now help me to understand how to unlock the bootloader? From my research it sounds like I have to do this to upgrade to JellyBean. Is this true?
Also do I have to be in APX mode to Install JellyBean? If so, why?
Thank you.

How to try rooting ASUS ME176 (Atom powered)

I've been searching all over the net, and I seem to only find Japanese language sites.
Which makes me wonder, has this tablet not been release overseas.
It is the ASUS Memo 7 (not the HD model).
It uses the Intel Atom CPU.
Actually I am pleased with the purpose I bought it for except the lack of OTG due to Android 4.4.2.
--> So I MUST root this thing.
Any help welcome.

Yup. Also gave towelroot a go. No prevail.
Updates, I could install ADB USB on my PC, and boot the tablet in safe mode. USB Debugging + volume down during boot up.
ADB shell/connection - OK.
Was going to try the superuser method, but can't seem to find where to download the files and what to do next.
Advice please. http://androidsu.com/superuser/ <-- there is an x86 file here but seems that link is broken.
Thanks.
Here is the only other thread I've found on our device. I'll keep trying to figure things out too. Maybe we will find help eventually.

Its so new that no programmer got around it yet. Must be because of the new kernel, named ARC.

I used King Root, worked first time, and all was well, UNTIL, I just had to keep tinkering, and, anyone got a S580 4.4.2 rom? Kingo/King worked. What I remember of the procedure, just put the phone in usb debug, set the usb connection to either mtp or ptp camera, can't remember which one Kingo liked, each one seems to be picky. Let the software do it's thing, have patience, and read what it's telling you. For instance, if it's saying booting to adb and it's not, do it manually. Pretty sure I had to. Mostly, have drivers installed first, and bring patience, rare for me to have, but if I did it u can too. When it's done, leave it alone until there's more support, like I didn't do. As far as drivers, I don't remember which one, but I use SkipSoft ToolKit, and Nexus Root Toolkit, both available on this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...olkit-skipsoft-android-toolkit-nexus-t2525026 and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475.

I managed to get mine rooted via "Root Master 1.3.6 Cekas". You just search for and dl the .apk, install it on your phone, and run the app to root your phone. After doing that, I recommend that you make/save a backup to a microSD via selecting "backup and restore" in recovery mode (that way you'll still be able to have a replacement just in case something messes up).
