[Q] How to root as n Acer Iconia A500 with ICS - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I understand that there is a forum for this, but I am new and cannot reply to it. I have been reading the forum, Full root for A10x and A5xx ICS. Simple method. However i cannot get my A500 rooted. I have "allow USB debugging" turned on. I am running the insaller from an Acer Aspire 5845 running Windows 8. When I run the win installer, it says there is no device attached. I have tried to find an USB driver but I cannot find any driver that will work. I have researched and tried everything with no luck. Can anyone help me please?
Thank you,
Kent

Please Help
Could someone please help me with this? I have researched and cannot come up with a solution. Does anyone know why I cannot not my Acer Iconia A500 to be seen by ADB so I can root it? Any ideas?

Have you tried using Window 7 instead of windows 8? When you plug in the device, it should begin installing the drivers automatically, unless something goes wrong which requires you reinstall the drivers.

That worked! I am now rooted.
Can you now help me to understand how to unlock the bootloader? From my research it sounds like I have to do this to upgrade to JellyBean. Is this true?
Also do I have to be in APX mode to Install JellyBean? If so, why?
Thank you.

[Q] How can I get (temp) root access of a unknown tablet device with Honeycomb3.2?

Hello,
I am looking for information on rooting (or temporarily) tablet.
I have got a tablet device with Honeycomb 3.2 which is not on market yet. Having experience of using my android phone, I would like to have it rooted as well. Unluckily, I have no USB because the device is using a special connection interface. That means, only measures (with WiFi to transfer files) through device instead of PC could work...
I have searched forums for gaining root access and even temp root access for quite some time. I have tried androot, Gingerbreak etc but no luck.
If there is a different area in XDA Forums I should be asking this, please refer me there.
I would appreciate for all help on this. Thanks.
Regards,
tczhang

Hi man, every device has its driver on the support section of the site. Download and instsll them from the site of the tablet. If it's still not recognized, try to force the installation with the driver you downloaded. Restart phone and pc after the installation

USB host on Xolo X1000

I've been reading a lot about the USB host mode requiring root and also some without root..
I used the USB Host Diagnostics Tool by Chainfire to see if my phone supported it.. but in the end i still dont understand if its the hardware issue in my phone or is it the Android OS.
m using the Android 4.1.2 that was provided to me by the Manufacturer itself..
i have no clue where to find Rom and other details.. kindly help out
thanks
You won't find any custom ROMs are anything else really.. The phone just recently got a root procedure so it is gonna be quite a while before we get anything else..

How to try rooting ASUS ME176 (Atom powered)

I've been searching all over the net, and I seem to only find Japanese language sites.
Which makes me wonder, has this tablet not been release overseas.
It is the ASUS Memo 7 (not the HD model).
It uses the Intel Atom CPU.
Actually I am pleased with the purpose I bought it for except the lack of OTG due to Android 4.4.2.
--> So I MUST root this thing.
Any help welcome.

Yup. Also gave towelroot a go. No prevail.
Updates, I could install ADB USB on my PC, and boot the tablet in safe mode. USB Debugging + volume down during boot up.
ADB shell/connection - OK.
Was going to try the superuser method, but can't seem to find where to download the files and what to do next.
Advice please. http://androidsu.com/superuser/ <-- there is an x86 file here but seems that link is broken.
Thanks.
Here is the only other thread I've found on our device. I'll keep trying to figure things out too. Maybe we will find help eventually.

Its so new that no programmer got around it yet. Must be because of the new kernel, named ARC.
