Hi Infuse 4G community!
I will soon be leaving my Atrix4G at its best with MROM7 and heading here. I am aware of naive "best rom" posts are, however I ask you to please suggest a few. I've checked out the development section and one that immediately caught my attention was Beanstalk 4.3. If you would be so kind to suggest some ROMs based on experience, it would help a lot.
Also, I have not yet touched my Galaxy Infuse i977. Therefore I have no idea how to root it (in terms of requirements for the BeanStalk ROM). I've looked up a few guides but because it's Gingerbread 2.3.6 it seems to have problems rooting the SuperOneClick way. If any of you would please guide me step by step on how to achieve that marvelous Beanstalk ROM or one even better (a matter of opinion) would be greatly appreciated. I am somewhat experienced with my atrix4g, but clvery confused on the procedures for infuse i977. Is anyone out there willing to help me out step by step? Please and Thank you.

Best advice I can give you is to start reading.
Believe it or not, that actually worked With a few trial and error steps, I got it all worked out. Rooted and running BeanStalk on my infuse now. Now I have to transfer apps, game data, etc from my Atrix xD. Alright, Thanks!

hi all,
I'm an absolute newcomer to android and smartphones. I bought a droid charge yesterday and I know I want to root it and install a leaner OS that gives me a lot of flexibility and less bloatware. However, I need to learn some basics before I blunder my way into this.
Looking around this forum, the jargon is all greek to me. Is there a good place to start for total noobs like me?
I'd like to learn:
* best and safest methods to root the phone
* what custom rom's are available
* how to ensure I can restore it to factory condition
If there is a FAQ somewhere that goes through the basics, pleas just point me to it.
Thx and apologies if this is redundant with other posts

I am in a similar position as you. Doing a lot of research before I root.
Check out this guide:

and also browse the development section and in particular,

Thank you, I'll check that out. But I'm looking for something even more basic, if it exists. Like, what is Odin? What is the different between a Rom/Kernel and a Mod? What is a Theme? Are there any catalogues of the custom ROM's that give comparisons? As a professional software eng, I'll be able to get this done once I get the jargon, but I'm way behind the 8-ball here...
Thx

Google is a wonderful thing. When you've done at least a little research then ask questions

That was a somewhat polite "RTFM" message. Thanks.
I'm looking for a FAQ or a beginner's guide. Sitting there googleing dozens of terms is possible, but I'm looking for a beginner's resource. But I do appreciate you pointing out the obvious ;-)

There's a great guide in the Android Development section of the Charge Forums that'll shed a ton of light on your situation.
1. I find that the easiest way to root your phone is by flashing through Odin. It's basically a one-click root/flash kernel/rom. Even if Odin fails and your phone is soft-bricked you should be able to recover the phone by attempting to flash through Odin again. I've soft-bricked my Charge several times
2. Altered Beast was the first custom ROM available. Now you have GummyCharged, Eclipse, Humble and various GB molds. I think the main four ROMs available are Altered Beast, Gummy, Eclipse and Humble. I may be missing one but I'm usually on top of this crap
3. You should be able to restore it to factory condition by using Odin or Heimdall. I believe there is a Samsung utility that can be used as well. I wouldn't worry too much about restoring it back to stock
Hi Guys,
I just bought an Inspire off of Craigslist. The guys said he had updated or OTAed the phone. I wanted to know which root method or guide should I use for root, s-off, and even sim-unlock, if possible?
Here's the info on it:
Android Version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense Version: 2.1
Build Number: 2.47.502.7 CL93396 release-keys
Software Number: 2.47.502.7
What is the best, easiest method to get this bad boy rooted ? Thanks for your help!
I used the Ace Hack Kit and was rooted in under 15 minutes. Just make sure to read and follow the directions.

There's only one, and this thread was totally unnecessary the root method is on the first page

Hack Kit Thread - this is the only option available to root the GB OTA update
Make sure you read the effen manual, a few times. attn1 has made the process almost idiot proof, but if you run into issues you can hop in their IRC from the link in the OP of that thread
Folks, thanks for your responses, I appreciate your help.
I am not new to Android, been a proud owner of the DInc, EVO 4G, HD2 w/ Android on NAND, EVO 3D, and now the Inspire 4G. In all of those other communities and rooting methods, apparently builds and versions of Android mattered, and appropriate tools remedied the appropriate versions, thus I asked.
So please, there is no need to be upset. I didn't ask HOW TO Root, I asked what solution to use, cause apparently in the stickies, I saw two.
Thanks for the warm welcome, please look forward to more questions and thanks for supporting the community!

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay. The Inspire is a great device, I'm sure you'll love it as much as we do.
FWIW, I too get sick of the snarky, self righteous responses ppl make to a question.
Tx

Hi,
My name is Dustin and I'm new to the forum. I've read the requirements and what the community would like (please do not post something that may have been already be posted, so take the time to find it if possible).
I would like to say that this community is very clean, as the threads and placement of items are very nice and clean.
Alright, so straight to the point
I am using the SuperOneClick.
I'm using a Samsung Captivate from Rogers, trying to Root and all.
After I get to STEP #7 it just lose responding.
Any ideas ??
Thanks in advance..
First off please don't flame me, I've been on XDA for years an am by far not new to this. I know the procedures and I DID search and try to find these answers but am still a little confused so I would appreciate some help and I'd be very grateful please . I finally talked my buddy into getting an android phone and dropping iOS so he has the sensation and decided he wants to root and install custom Roms so I'm going to do so for him. He's on stock ICS and all the stickie threads for rooting I seen for the most part were last edited or not posted on since before the ICS update. I seen about the tool kit but just want to double check so I don't brick my buddies phone, could someone just link me to the newest method to root and flash recovery for flashing Roms for a phone on stock ICS? Once again my apologies as I know these noobie questions are annoying but my searching didn't help me . Thanks all!

The reason I'm posting is because its so complicated on HTC phones, Samsung is easy lol but I read the thread about how to do things but there's a million different things it talks about. It talks about s off and adb and all that, there doesn't seem to be a good guide in everything to do just to root and be able to flash custom Roms from straight stock from step one. Help please friend may be willing to donate after all said and done.

Hi,
Please check the ☺ A great starting point for all new Sensation owners ☺ link in my signature.
It has all the latest links to the threads you want.
Ok guys so I hate this phone, I've never wanted to punt a phone up until now, It freezes, crashes, and is extremely annoying but I thought hey maybe if I root it and install a custom rom it make my experience with this phone much better since that's how it went with my G2. I know there are plenty of roms and root instructions out there I was wondering if could get some suggestions or recommendations.
So here is my question, rooting, I found this pretty neat one click roo for this phone, do you guys suggest it? Or is there a better way of doing it?
Second question, I've seen a rom for this phone called RAGE and that's it would you guys be able to suggest a great rom for this phone?
I've only ever rooted the G2 and used CM rom, so ima little new to the rootng world.
Thank you guys so much in advace!!
