Do you get angry when your screen rotates the way you don't want? Do you always have urge to shake your phone to fix the screen orientation? Now you can shake your phone and it will rotate the screen to the correct position with Shake Freeze - a simple screen orientation control & lock app for your phone.
Beta video
How it works
- Turn on the service
- Shake the phone up and down in portrait or landscape mode to lock screen in that position
- Shake the phone towards and away from you to swich between tilt (default auto-rotate) and shake controls
- Use the main app to control display orientation manually
Features
- Shake to rotate screen
- Turn Auto-rotate On/Off in app (switch between tilt and shake controls)
- Customizable sensitivity
- Persistent background service accessible from notification toolbar
- Start on boot, start shaking immediately
- Source code available, no hidden secrets
Missing features
- Force lock. Shake Freeze works ONLY in apps that do not have their preferred orientation (typically text apps like browsers etc)
- Current version doesn't change orientation on tablets (probably with most tablets, only the lock works)
Permission breakdown
- Modify system settings - orientation and auto-rotate are system settings
- Run at startup - optional, the shake detector service can start on boot. Default is OFF!
Free App - Attentionware
The app is completely free with no ads. Source code is available. The only thing I ask is your attention. If you like the app, please rate it, check my Android website, +1 on G+, like my page on Facebook and/or follow my Twitter.

Dev info
Yet another auto-rotate app with a twist (and shake). Made as an excercise, it's my first app for Android that uses more than just display and touchscreen. I've seen better rotation lock apps (but they are paid) and better rotate to do something apps (but they don't have rotation lock). I am releasing the source codes in case you want to check out what the app does on boot etc. I would be extremely grateful if you can comment on the sources too, I am an Android beginner and I definitely have space to improve!

Hello
I tried your beta version and here are the first couple of results:
App description:
I went into the app without watching the video and checking the pics to see if it is intuitive, It took me around 5 minutes to understand. So fair enough. The video is far way more important than the picture itself, because it really shows the purpose of the app comparing it to the the normal behavior. As for the picture I first didn't get it 100% percent but after watching the video and playing with the app it makes sense. But for the little beginners I think there is something missing in it.
UI:
Well there isn't a lot of buttons and setting which is quite good I think less is more in UI/UX which is good in your design. There is only the number of shakes slider, If the settings underneath is an actual int number, maybe display it on the slider instead of waiting for the user to select it and then display it in the main scene, because he will have to click OK to see what he has actually selected 8-9-10ish
Functional Tests
I tried on my stock Gnex running 4.3 (without the latest update from google 2 weeks ago), The app ran smoothly and the sensitivity is good and set to the default middle settings.
I tired also setting the service to start on start-up, set it to landscape, and then restart my phone. Everything went well it even remembered the last setting which was landscape and the service running appeared in the notification.
All in all it is a excellent development and a very good exercise as I have seen on your blog.
As for me I would say that its main usage will be while watching youtube.
Hope it helps
Thanks !
Hi there,
I'm trying of the beta on my Nexus S. Everything works and the sensitivity adjustment gives a good range.
One suggestion I have is to separate the toggle for tilt and shake. If I want to use the shake functions with high sensitivity but not the tilt it is difficult to do so (without having to shake a bunch of times). This way, it is a little bit more versatile in how the user wants to use your app =]
Other than that I think the Ui should be sufficient. The help screen could be separated into a few chunks so user isn't overwhelmed by the amount of text, although the app is relatively intuitive to use.
Nice app!
Hi,
It's a Nice App :good: It's very intuitive and is very easy use it.
Work well in my Cubot One and Iocean X7
If you already use Tasker & Rotation Locker, you can save some memory by using Tasker and the Rotation Locker app plug-in to rotate once shake is detected.

"It’s happened to all of us. You’re lying in bed and have screen auto-rotation on, and as soon as you open an up on your home screen, the screen turns sideways. Yes, we know we can turn off the auto-rotation in the settings, or change the position of the phone until the text is upright once more, but we’re a lazy people, in a lazy generation aided by technology, and if there’s an app for something, then problem fixed."

'OrientationLocker' enables you to toggle the Auto-rotate mechanism EASILY.
Each time you change the screen orientation without any need of pulling down the status bar, going to settings or using external application.
Each time you rotate your phone, the lock symbol will appear and by a single click you will be able to choose whether you want your screen to rotate or not !
• DONATION version offers the following features :
Setting the symbol opacity.
the symbol offset.
More options for symbol timeout.
Setting notification icon as transparent.
Please try the free version to make sure everything is as expected.
Note!
This app will NOT lock your screen permanently in any orientation, it uses the Android auto-rotate mechanism in order to control the screen orientation !
The app requests several permissions - it's all for making it more usable ,
I.E. it will ask for Read Phone status and identity for not interrupting while in call / ring.

Great app! Just one remark: I don't like the intrusive icon. Will future updates include a simple, minimal white-only lock icon to fit with every other icon? It's a small thing but nonetheless it could - personally spoken - be that bit better
This is cool man, it's so annoying that auto rotate screen.

When unlocked - the icon is pretty much white... when locked its colored so you will know its locked.
Can you please upload screenshot so ill see why the icon is intrusive ? i see it as a small icon
Notice you can long click the icon and change its location to one of the screen corners ... !
Can you make the app lock the screen all the times? There were some app auto rotate even we lock the screen (youtube while watching )

Well, I thought about doing so... but as far as I know, it can cause some issues I don't think i want to put myself there, it's really working around the system configurations (think of apps only working in landscape mode, locking the orientation completely will make them work in incompatible mode )
Regarding youtube ... It's actually Youtube fault that their app rotates although auto-rotate is OFF...

Sorry, I didn't find any reference to any app called 'Orientation Switch' app (not in the play store)
Anyway, I think the best it to try it yourself ... Uninstall will always stay an option
Updated - bugs fixed (by your requests and queries, thank you)
Donation version is up for helping with the development costs :good:
I just downloaded the app a few minutes ago. So far, very good. I'll write a review at the Play store later this week, and if I'm still using the app in a week, I'll definitely purchase the donation version.
Thanks!
This app serves one purpose and do it very efficiently. It is to prevent babies from screwing up your phone when you let them play with you phone.
It's for Jelly Bean and up for now.

Google+ Baby Untouch beta page
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of baby friendly contents on web, app, YouTube, and other video source. The app allows you to open any of those contents for your baby and protect your phone from being destroyed by baby random clicking.
*******************************************************************************************************************
Features:
★ Block touch on any apps, including YouTube and browsers (video playing without problem. I haven't find any app that doesn't work with this app yet)
★ Block home, back button, recent-app button, and menu button
★ Lock volume
★ Easy unblocking with options
★ Even works on lockscreen to prevent calling to 911
★ Option to "Keep screen on" while blocking
★ Option to "Lock orientation" while blocking
★ Super simple start. Only need 20 seconds to fully understand how it works
★ Super optimized; next to zero memory and CPU usage
★ Tiny app size
★ No ads; that's right, no ads
★ No sneaky permission, only 2 basic ones
★ No data usage, it doesn't even need internet access permission
★ No sign up, no email, no phone number, and no information is saved or required
*******************************************************************************************************************
Coming Features:
★ Option to allow interaction on running app in the foreground
*******************************************************************************************************************
Limitation:
This app does not provide baby content at this moment.
There are a few reasons:
1. ) I am not an expert at determining what content is the best for babies; I only want to provide what I believe is the best.
2. ) There are so many baby content available everywhere already.
Other notes:
This app does not block power button.
Volume lock is to revert volume changes.
If somehow you can't unblock after start blocking, you can press and hold power button to restart phone and that will fix it.
I have tested this app on as many phones and apps that I can, but if you do find an app or a phone that this is not compatible with, please email me the phone model, android version and the app link, so I can test it and fix it.

Is it possible to configure the app to auto engage when a particular app is running? so for example if Youtube is started the the notouch app activates?
Also, is it possible to have it startup automatically on device boot so that it is running and active by "default"?

Thanks for your interest.
Regarding auto engage, is it that really useful? Currently it doesn't have that feature, because it only takes 1 swipe from the notification and 1 tap to activate.
Regarding auto startup on boot, it might be a bit too dangerous. For example, if you somehow can't not unblock it (For example, someone sets it to 10 taps/sec to unblock), then your last way to get pass it is to do hard reset which is holding power for 10 seconds.
But auto start up the notification is possible. I might add that in, just don't want to pollute the UI with 20 options that general moms don't know how to operate. I might add in an advanced option category in near future.
Thanks.

Sorry for using this thread for this, but I don't think so. I have an app for children on my tablet with pictures and spoken names off different animals. My nearly 2 year old daughter loves it, and actually she can name most of the animals clearly and instantly. I think the point is what kind of content you show to little kids and how long you let them play with it.

Confirms partly what I said, content and duration must be under parental guidance. But I think even kids under age 2 can learn from both: people AND media. And now let's stop hijacking the thread.

There is a bug currently when unblocking if Unblock confirmation is not set. A new update will be released to fix that later today. Please enable unblock confirmation before using it for now.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi!
Is it possible to have the app lock input for 0.5-1second after turning the screen on? I have a bug on my N5 that causes shadow presses when the screen is unlocked. Setting a lock pattern solves this on one side but when the light sensor turns on/off screen during a call it still causes erratic behavior.
Thanks.

Woo-hoo. Can't wait. I love your Apps ☺?
Wow! What a cool idea. Saves precious seconds when launching the camera. Working great on my Moto G.
Bug: When my phone is in vibrate or silent mode, launching the camera changes the sound mode to normal.
custom camera setting would be nice. I'm using Camera Zoom FX instead of the built in camera most time.
Just noticed that Snapshot enables the camera when putting the phone into a docking station. It would be nice if this unwanted behaviour could be disabled, because I'm using dock clock.

It doesn't seem like it is working on my Nexus 7. I hold it like stated, but there's no activation. I could help with debugging it. As the tablet doesn't have vibration, I can't completely confirm I'm in the correct position. Maybe having some optional sound or toast would help with calibrating position.

Does not work on cm11 Galaxy I9000!
Latest update broke the app
The latest update disabled the default landscape setting. No camera apps are listed. I'm using Google Camera from the Play Store which replaced the stock camera app on my N5. This may be because per app settings in the new update is limited to Pro versions but it was working just fine earlier.

I have 1 huge issue with this app. I use a dock to charge my phone so whenever I place my phone horizontally on the dock to charge which turns on the screen, the camera launches as well. Can a setting be placed to disable the app working when the phone is being charged?
EDIT: Also the option for the app to be disabled after X seconds after the screen is turned on would be nice. I believe now that after the screen it turned on in portrait mode and any time that it goes landscape after that launches the camera.
Love it
Works great on my rooted stock rom SGS4, would it be possible to choose the camera app you want to use in the settings, so we don't have to choose each time ? I'm an idiot works great.

Lock screen apps offer an easy way to personalize your Android phone or tablet.
1. Echo Notification Lockscreen
Google Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doublelabs.androscreen.echo&hl=en
If you're looking for a lightweight app that provides all the essentials right from the get-go, then Echo Notification Lockscreen will likely float your boat. The app displays messages, missed calls and other types of notifications straight from the lock screen, which you can then open by tapping, or dismiss by swiping to the left. Two cool things about the app: you get a camera shortcut to snap some quick photos and it won’t suck your battery dry either. And Echo Notification is also free!
Echo Notification Lockscreen provides you with messages and missed calls on your lock screen.
2. Cover - the smart lock screen
Google Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coverscreen.cover&hl=en
Cover brings context-based information to the lock screen, meaning the right content and settings at the right time. This is reminiscent of Google Now and for the most part works quite similarly. By entering your home address and workplace, the lock screen will know when to switch between private and work mode. Depending on the situation, it shows matching apps as shortcuts. This works because the launcher is capable of learning and adapts to particular usage patterns. In addition to being able to automatically switch between settings and shortcuts, Cover also offers simplified access to recently used apps by swiping downwards from the top screen border.
Cover is in open beta phase and can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. We already tested the lock screen two months ago and found that even then it made a very good and well-made impression.
Cover offers context-based apps on your Android lock screen to match your habits.
3. Ubuntu Lockscreen
Google Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rotaryheart.ubuntu.lock.screen&hl=en
There had been talks about a mobile operating system from Ubuntu called Ubuntu Touch, but it never really caught on. If you still want at least a tiny hint of Ubuntu on your smartphone, you can install the Ubuntu Lockscreen. It has a ring menu that will display notifications, and by swiping from top to bottom, you’ll see date, time and battery status.
Swiping from right to left presents shortcuts to apps which can be set up by the user individually beforehand. On request, a music player can be displayed on the lock screen, since the security options are currently only a password or PIN. So, even when swiping from left to right, the display will remain unlocked. The Ubuntu Lockscreen can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and is free.

4. UnlockYourBrain - vocabulary and math training
Google Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.unlockyourbrain&hl=en
On average, we’ll look at our smartphones about 80 times a day. Wouldn’t it make sense to combine these almost subconscious compulsions with something meaningful? UnlockYourBrain is a lockscreen alternative made to keep your brain fit by having you solve math problems and do some vocabulary training.
The vocabulary or math exercises loaded onto the lock screen can naturally be skipped in case you get stumped. The potential found in this lock screen is great though. Repetition is the mother of retention and by constantly viewing vocabulary and calculation methods, this will slowly but surely start to sink in, keeping your brain from turning into mush.
UnlockYourBrain is free and ad-supported, available in the Google Play Store. The premium version can be bought as in-app purchases in various packages.
UnlockYourBrain makes you smarter all while unlocking your phone.
5. DashClock widget
Google Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nurik.roman.dashclock&hl=en
The easiest and most popular way to set up a lock screen is with the use of widgets. One of the most popular in this genre is DashClock Widget because it not only supports extensions but is also be extensively customizable. The widget, which is displayed next to the clock, can be a calendar, appointments, unread messages or when using supported apps, the weather for example.
DashClock Widget can be downloaded for free in the Google Play Store. Setting up and searching for matching extensions can be fun but could also take some time to complete thanks to a huge array of extensions to choose from. You can take a look at an overview in the Play Store by simply searching for the term "DashClock".

Please Thank Me If You Think This Is A Worthy Topic :victory:
Many modern-day phones, including the Galaxy S7 and LG G5, feature always-on displays that show snippets of info even when the screen is switched off and locked. You don't necessarily need a 2016 flagship to get this feature though - you just need the right app. Glance Plus is designed for this propose, it shows some basic info in black screen when you waving your hand over proximity sensor or always on display.

*** FAQ
1. Notifications does not show up ?
- Access to notifications needs to be enabled (open Setting, click on the "Show notification" option for notifications and allow access to Glance Plus)
- try to restart the phone
2. Waving my hand over my phone doesn't work
- Try waving slowly
- You may need to wave very close to the proximity sensor (should be located just above the screen) on some devices
- Try reinstall app
3. Battery is drained more quickly
- Go to Glance Plus/Setting, reduce Brightness and Time before off screen
- Turn off weather info
- Check exactly how much milliampere that app consume (may be consume few milliampere but os still showing it's take much battery percentage)

I'm trying it on a Samsung S3 at bedtime. Nice work [emoji2]
Curious about how much battery will it cost
Quick question for the developer: If I want to enable all the features and remove ads, what will this app cost me?

Hi, it depends on capacity of phone battery and your settings. On my phone (Nexus 5 2300mAh), peek mode only consumes 0.5-1%/h

I'm sorry, we doesn't provide any pack enable full features.
OK. Could you please add up the individual in app purchases for me then -- all of them.
EDIT:
I went through the app and checked each additional add-on. There are five (CAD$):
remove ads: $178
notification reminder: $1.41
always on: $1.69
auto-rotate: $1.15
adaptive brightness: $1.15
This seems like a good way of monetizing. Gives the user the ability to only pay for the features he wants. For instance, I think I would only want "always on", so that will only set me back $1.69.
In addition to these add-on features, the user can also choose to purchase additional background pictures for $0.99 each.
Has anyone tried the "always on" feature. I would be very interested in battery consumption on an amoled screen.
New version now is available and release in play store

nice app, heres some feedback/requests for you, i'm using the S7 Edge.
Is the "always on" feature supposed to hide when put in your pocket? because it doesn't turn off in my pocket, Samsungs AOD feature will do this.
Ramdom location sometimes clips/hides the notification icons when its decides to be at the bottom of the screen
Show quick launch notification, whats this? is the notifications like SMS/Gmail supposed to open when i tap it? if so the screen isn't interactive.
Please add random location pixel movement like Samsungs updated AOD feature, it only needs to nudge randomly 1 pixel every 1-2 minutes, perhaps the clock can also be at the top region of the screen.
Have the ability to turn on the the "always on" only when a notification arrives feature would be nice as well as the ability to hide the clock, and just keep notification icons.
Please have the alarm clock "detailed" underneath the clock instead of to the right.
Disable backlit back/recents keys from glowing when Glance Plus is active would be good too,
thats all i can think of at this time.
Excellent app!!to be superb...i would like per app settings..f.e to have the abillity to set a missed call notif. to blink and when i have a message, only to wake up when i wave my hand.thanks!!
Anyone knows what is that "15" on my screen?
