i was using cm-10.2-20131010-Albinoman887-pyramid over a week without a single problem
but only a few mins after update to 20131020, i've received emails from Google and Bank institutions saying
security breached and advise me to reset my password urgently....
luckly? Google provided me with details of the Hacker, who tried attempt to gain access to my accounts, as below:
2013year 10month 22day Tuesday PM 1hour 49minutes 27seconds UTC
IP address: 223.199.92.30
Location: Haikou, Hainan, China
now i've reported this incedent to Police and it's currently under investigation.
All i wannna to say is Plz take extra caution for what u download from the web and have Anti-virus/Firewall apps installed on your Handset.

Did you connected from your own personal wifi or the other one(Office, Club etc)? Happens to me all the time when I connect to my office wifi. It always shows Singapore as a sign in location. May be because server location is in Singapore.

which i would never ever allow again!!! (i did allowed Superuser access b4 & got Hacked in few mins after...)

Lol goo.im is just the download manager for a popular file hosting site. It has nothing to do with Albinoman or android 4.3 and it has always requested root access due to the nature of what it does. It sounds to me like you probably installed a shady pirated apk or just clicked on some kind of phishing link in an email, etc.
Make sure you know what you're talking about before you go and try to ruin a devs reputation. I've been using the 4.3.1 build along with Goo.im just fine and my Gmail/other accounts have remained intact.

It isn't the ROM at fault, this could happen to anyone rooted or not.

i think the rom he moved to is the nail in the coffin here... this guy is a troll nothing more..
Thread closed as this appears to just be an attempt to start arguments.
If this issue was only with this ROM then it would have been mentioned loads before now.
In future, if you have any such issues rather than create a new thread accusing a ROM of hacking, get some proof and then contact the developer in private. This way they can address issues without it causing bigger issues and possible arguments like this thread could cause.
Also, in future please post all questions in the Q&A forum

you install it and input ur information. If you have to ask then you probably dont need it. It acts as a handshake between you and your ISP. For example where i am at the internet is provided via wifi, however you must log in with a pppoe connection (that is what this does).
wow you're right... i prolly dont need this... thx anyway!!

it works on mine i am using a HTC Nexus one with Cyanogen 7 RC1

I just feel strange why XDA no one know the better pppoe software.
maybe the reason is pppoew hasn't english vision
you can search pppoew in google and decompile is OK if you can.
it is based on rp-pppoe too,
you can download the software by search. pppoew 1.6 or 1.7

HTC Listen?
The app that comes with the sensation called Listen.
Not all sensations have it. It only comes stock on the Sensation 4G (e.g. Tmobile usa and the like). It is not on the asian or european stock sensations because of some international music licensing issues (though the apk will work on an international device, go figure). I have it but won't post the apk as it is considered warez. Sorry, I know that doesn't help you much.
It's actually not warez since its included and cannot be purchased. Maybe you know a link I can download it from and would be willing to p.m. me that link?
Thanks.
Actually it is warez as it is not available for your device due to licensing issues. Agree or don't, either way like I said sorry.

It comes in almost every ROM available for download from this site... so then that would mean all our devs are distributing warez...And that when people from Europe posted the Skype apk that allowed 3g video calling back before it was allowed in the US...
OP if I didn't auto delete that stuff before I flash a ROM I would hook you up, also idk if you need anything other then just the APK.

If they are packaging it in anything other than a tmo based rom then yes, that's exactly what it means, though I can't confirm nor deny that they are as not one of them advertises the app in their rom . Just becsuse something goes unnoticed or ignored doesn't mean its not against the rules or right, but this is just my two cents.

Yeah you need to update it through sense, which unauthorized devices can't do. If you had a US sensation you would be automatically alerted to the update or you could check for updates manually.

Please go complain about this on that thread or directly to t-mobile, even if you're rooted and running a custom ROM. It's something that shouldn't be foisted on the 99% of normobs out there, and if people speak out about this it can only increase the chances of t-mobile doing something about it.

That's the link to the security patch put together by Undeadk9. It's over in Dev.
When these issues were first released, we all handled it immediately and he made a patch to make it easier to do it.
If you haven't flashed it or are on a ROM that hasn't dealt with these issues, look into it.
The link to the androidpolice article is in Undeadk9's thread.

The answer, unfortunately, is "that depends".
Keystrokes *are* being caught and logged, that's clear. It doesn't appear that they're being permanently stored or transmitted, but that doesn't matter. Malicious software could potentially read those keystrokes and do whatever with them.

You'll need to remove the SWM-C stuff.
That's the redbend sofware managemet client, which T-Mobile includes. That software gives T-Mobile the ability to install, remove, or modify any software installed on your phone without your knowledge or permission.
EDIT: Actually, it'd be great if ROMs could be titled with [NOSWM], so we'd know. Just a thought.
The Rubix Cubed ROMs have all been "fixed" now to prevent this invasion of privacy. Since we aren't allowed to post about other forums on here all I can say is to Google RubiX CubeD ROM and you'll see your 3 options.
**mods i.e. arrrghhh**

So, I'm guessing if we freeze the SWM-C stuff, we should be safe? Is there anything else that's questionable and should be frozen?
I'm no expert. I have a rooted but stock MT4GS. I downloaded an app from the marketplace that is supposed to find if you have the software on your phone.
According to the software, I don't have the "infection".
I searched the marketplace for "carrier iq" and found a few detectors. I used one from Lookout, the people that make remote lock and wipe software. I also downloaded one from Bitdefender and got the same negative answer.
TMO News had a post with a list of offending phones and ours was not on there.
My guess is that it is not on our phones.
Our phone doesn't come with carrier iq thankfully. TrevE has an app that checks and removes it.
We do however have swm-c and htc loggers. Both can be removed. I know undeads roms have both removed.
I checked for both already.

So an unpleasant surprise in the EOS Nightlies and a few other builds is the inclusion of SPAMWARE called Goo.im. Its a notification app that could double as spyware as well. Its full functionality and the extent it can invade your privacy is unknown.
To remove it, simply do the following:
- Start Titanium Backup
- Find Goo Manager
- Long press to convert to user app
- Once converted, long press again to delete
After that you'll be free of this SPAMWARE.
Its not spamware it tells you when you have an update for your rom and gapps

First of all, I believe it is called gooManager.
If this is what you are referring to, this is not a spam or malware. Your book could be infected, with all respect, no offence...
This is an application subscribed to by team eos to host many dev apps, and ROMs and to notify you whenever there is an update available for you. Is it an added value feature that other ROMs lack. It is not spam no whatsover... thx for the tip though on how to use titanium backup...

Dude you might need to places ur time in something else other then flashing Roms bc that feature u so called what to show people how to remove is a blessing to everyone that understand they don't have to go in to the rom and select the update every time. Also, people have put a lot of time in to that feature.

Goo manager is NOT spam and is in fact the ONLY app I use to automatically notify me of a ROM or gapps update then download the update, wipe, backup and flash all from the app (as long as open script recovery). I even donated $10 for support of the dev.
Your opinions are your own but realize you are incorrect to call it spam or imply that it is in any way malicious. Uninstalling it should have sufficed without need for this thread... IMO.

... perhaps you just shouldn't use our ROMs then; in fact, I'd prefer that you don't (seriously!) if you have those kinds of issues with our builds.
BTW, you're not making much sense- after all, we make these ROMs ourselves essentially from scratch- if we'd wanted to "spy" on you, there's FAR more innocuous ways to do it (that you'd never know about nor be able to remove w/o a full wipe) than having to "install 'spy'ware".
This thread sucks. If you don't want update notifications, go into the settings on goomanager and set the "ROM Update Frequency" setting to never.
It's along the same lines as google, moto etc telling you an OTA is available?

Mr OP... Your thoughts here are very flawed and they lack insight and logic. I know I really shouldn't give this guy the time of day and he is likely a troll... But if you ARE new to this stuff and you are feeling your way through these processes, you need more information than he gave.
First is a simple argument with very simple logic. If indeed this app is malicious in intent, you can trust that they would have simply been caught by now! Do you really think all the code writers and programmers and enthusiasts and all around nerds (I can say it cause I am one) wouldn't have discovered it? The awesome people on this board were able to find out that a ICS leak for the Motorola DROID Bionic had a check in place that stopped the returning to stock process. And they didn't do it by experimentation, they busted through the code and put it through tests... Other stuff cause they're just that damn good!
Secondly, if they were again being malicious and say they were caught but they somehow convinced everyone that has caught them to keep it quiet and they cut them in on the action... Dude, really? We did in fact for to the moon, I promise you that. (that's a conspiracy theory crack, didn't want the genius OP to miss out on a joke).
Third, it's not necessary you tell people how to get rid of the app because if you're on this board, you're smarter... Wait.... Since we are dealing with this thread I can't say EVERYONE here is smart.
In the end, this is a much optional app. Rooting and roming are much optional. If you don't want it, don't use it. No one really cares to invade your privacy, no one cares what porn you browse on your Xoom! If you hate this kind of stuff go buy iProducts and be a drone like the rest of the hipsters.
Have a nice night now!
*rolls eyes*.....*types out long reply to OP*....*spam backspace*....*hits submit reply*
U mad OP?
Hit the thanks button and wam it disappears ! Try it.
I wasn't a fan of the notifications, and prefer to boot into recovery to flash updates, so I uninstalled, not seen any reasons to claim it was malicious though... perhaps the OP doesn't understand why it has the permissions it has :-\

You can do it in a few ways.....
1.st.... if you have custom recovery, reflash a new rom! Done, your phone is clean!
2.nd.... if you don't have a custom recovery, you can use SP Flash Tool, and flash a custom recovey, then flash the rom, or, if you find a suitable rom online, you can directly flash it with SP Flash Tool.
3.rd.... if you don't wanna bother yourself with flashing.....then, here is a quick fix....
Install Titanium Backup Pro version
Enter Titanium Backup and find Time Service and Monkey Test
Freeze them
The buggers won't cause other issues
Hope this helped
Good Luck
Eureka!!!
After two weeks of research and study I know how to remove it completely out of phone or tablet without flashing. I got rid of it completely on my Lenovo Stock rom tablet yesterday.
So if anyone with a little knowledge of android needs my help feel free to contact me

Normal way of doing things on xda is sharing a fix if you have it, especially that you have such a wonderful track record here.
Why don't you guys ask for a raise from Tim Cook, so that you can polish a little (actually a lot) your trolling skills, so that perhaps one or two people can take you seriously for a change? And remember: never say 'i got a virus on our Android device' because it gives you up right there. Oh, and try to open a sleeper account instead of one which is 1 day old, this way you'll have more credibility. Cheers.
Dear sir.

I don't even know what raise are you talking about ? I'm not trolling. I had this virus in my tablet and I also asked on some other forums but what I got is that I have to flash my device which I could not so I went into deep and with collection of information from here and different places I managed to remove it without flashing.
And as for sharing a fix I will definitely share it. Actually I'm not good in steps writing but I will definitely will try to write as how I did.
Please Help

Looks like a nasty virus according to the Norton community.
https://community.norton.com/en/forums/monkey-test-time-service-malware-s
yes i need ur help too much. plz tell me how to remove them on my email- [email protected]
You may want ro take your email off the pubilc forum post unless you are just.looking to increase your spam by 10000 fold at the very least change the format i.e .com = dot com
I am with Optimupro on this. It seems very questionable when someone or a few with all new accounts have an issue and then rather than posting the fix say email or pm me like they want to keep it a secert or its to special to post? Gives the grandious impression. Froma practical sense, why you a.person rather type it out or c&p it over and over for.each corispondance they recieve and require the person to wait for it to be on their schedule rather.than just post it in the forum its associated with?? Sorry but that just strikes any seasoned forum users anywhere as odd and raises a caution flag. Its much more nirmal and frankly polite courtious forum manners to post fixes to problems openly so all that search can find it long after you are no longer on this site?
Not saying there is trolling but it sure raises a flag given the kinds of posts that have been trollings in the past on all sorts of forums. But I try to error.on the side of hoping its just an oversite or ignorance to how things are done on oopen knowledge sharing forums such as xda is.
