[Resolved] ROM flashing

Will rom flashing via parallels desktop on a Mac work? Ive noticed that it doesnt work at all. I did install drivers for my Samsung Epix on Windows XP sp3. It does work fine with activesync but not the Samsung Epix windows mobile 6.5 rom flasher application. Do you think its caused by low level drvers that require a real PC to work properly?

I am using vmware fusion and it is working fine. I am running windows 7 and I have the android sdk and everything works fine. To flash a rom you put it on your sd card and flash it. If you are trying to do it with adb than just put it on your sd and it should work fine.
Hmmm, Windows mobile does not have an application to flash the rom on the phone like clockwork app on Android. The only way is to flash from a computer...

VMware fusion didnt work at all with that one. I havent tested it with my Samsung Captivate to see the result.

I tried it on a real PC, still no go. Im thinking the phone usb port is bad because it wouldnt charge when the phone is off. **** thar ****, lol. Its worth 20-30 for it.

windows not recognizing phone

Ok so I'm not sure what happened here, but my laptop wont recognize my phone. I have windows 7 and the phone is currently running octane. I originally had used odin to set the phone up with the proper boot loaders a while back then used cwm to flash ravers octane. I wanted to go back to stock using the official kj6 that raver posted through odin. When ever i hook the phone in to the laptop it says usb device not recognized. Any ideas or ways to fix this? I tried uninstalling and installing the sgs4g drivers again with no luck.
shut off..when u go into dl mode Odin should get it..don't worry about it while it's on...I did that for an hour last week...with octane

odin still isn't catching it

Download and install Kies Mini
So I just went ahead and downloaded the cwm ver that raver posted. moved it to root folder of sd card and flashed that copy instead. Even now that i'm stock the laptop won't recognize my phone so weird. Any other ideas?

If it recognized it before, make sure you're plugging it back into the same USB port you previously used. Also make sure the drivers are installed. If they're acting buggy, uninstall them and reinstall them. Downloading and installing Kies Mini (link provided by FB) would insure you get the right drivers installed.
Every time you flash a new Rom, it will probably do that. It depends on your computer. Once you uninstall the drivers, try to run ccleaner from piriform to clean out the registry. Reboot the computer. Then reinstall the drivers using the files from the Bible.

Yeah I tried UN and reinstalling the drivers I had gotten them from the Bible. I will try ccleaner and see what happens. Also I tried all USB Ports. Thanx for all your ideas I will post if ccleaner works or not

Ok so i deleted the samsung drivers. used ccleaner to to fix the registry and then restarted the computer. installed the drivers and the computer will still not recognize the phone. any other ideas?
Have you tried/can you try it on a different computer?

Plug your phone into your computer. Then go into your control panel and under Admin tools open computer managment. click on the device manager extension and find the device/s with the yellow exclamation point. right click and select uninstall. then unplug your phone and install the drivers from the SGS4G Bible and then plug your phone back in and it should work.
I forgot to mention my wife has this phone to stock never touched and my laptop registers gets just fine. When I plug mine in it says
USB device not recognized. And under some other options it says windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. I will try these suggestions though

if you have one phone that works on your laptop but another that doesn't then it would actually be your phone not your computer. I know windows far better than I do phones, sorry
yeah i'm deff thinking its the phone butderin what would cause this. thats what i'm wondering.

Short of a factory data reset (which you'll want to do before sending it in for repair, anyway), I don't know. It's weird that it worked until you flashed a ROM.
I know its crazy, kind of blows if I brick my phone i'm done deal lol.

[Q] micro sd card

ive got a problem that seems to run with any rom i run, except the stock rom. what happens is that when i connect the phone to my computer, it wont see the micro sd card or the internal one for that matter. all it does is charge the phone. i dont get why i have this problem as i never had this problem when i rooted and put different roms on the mt4g that i used to have. has anyone ever had this same problem and if so how did you fix it. i have tried re installing drivers and that didnt seem to work. thanks for any help you guys can offer.
Change cords or USB slots or even a different computer but another cord should do the trick. Had this issue on a galaxy s awhile back

thats the thing though, when i restore the phone back to stock, it works perfectly with the same cord and in the same usb slot. when i looked in device manager it said that the "device can not start" and then when i unistall the driver and then hook up my phone to my computer it will not install the driver. but again, when i go back to stock everything works perfectly. its really odd.
That is odd, did you download the drivers online or did you let them auto install? Id say download drivers online and make sure USB debugging is selected or unselect it to test

I'm kinda clueless at this point sorry hopefully someone else can assist

Hi I am thinking of rooting my t mobile LG g2x but I need to know what to do with my SD card from start to finish also there seems to be a lot of ways to root my phone and its confusing
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I think I have the same problem. I also downloaded the drivers but the ROM's I've been using (Eagles Blood and Phoenix Blood) don't like to work (and PB 1.5 gave my computer a blue screen and it restarted ._. ) I have noticed I can transfer files fine when I do it from recovery, but I can't get it to recognize the sd card in my phone that way.
Ok I just started getting this same issue on Phoenix blood today. Weird looks like I'm going back to a stock based ROM

This used to happen to me too. Had to install latest LG drivers and everything was fine after that.

i just downloaded the drivers from lg's website, but when i tried installing them it said that i had the most recent drivers and wouldnt install the driver
*edit* i uninstalled all lg drivers, and then re installed the tmo g2x driver from the website, however, that still didnt work. when i plugged my phone into my computer, the usb driver still failed to install. not sure why

[Q] Rooting

I have searched for this and recieved some many posts I was over whelmed.
My problem is this, I have downloaded DoomLord v4 and have followed the instructions for what to do on my phone. So my USB debugging is enabled, Unknown Sources is enabled and even changed the screen timeout to 10 minutes. But when the process starts it gets to daemon started successfully and then just sits there forever.
Has anyone else experianced this and if so did you resolove it?
I have android version 2.3.5.
No I used it and didn't have that problem but I'm sure someone will have a answer for you

Still curious if anyone has a solution
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
Main problems I've seen; don't have the proper adb drivers installed and trying to execute the "runme.bat" file as "Administrator"; alot of problems, at least on Win7. I would verify drivers, then to be safe, just drop to a DOS prompt, go to the directory and run the "runme.bat" file.
Yea I just realized I didn't get the USB drivers to install correctly. When I connect my phone and point it to the folder the drivers are it doesn't find any available drivers. Not sure I am trying this on my XP computer are work. Going to go home in a hour or so and try it there as well maybe it will work better on my win 7 64 bit system
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
ok well just tried to install the usb drivers on my windows 7 64bit system and it says the samething as the xp system. That it didn't find any drivers available. Oh well guess I am just not ment to root my phone, glad I am doing it just for fun and not cause I am having any problems with it lol
Well I didn't stop researching after all cause well I dont like giving up on something like that.
I was able to take the drivers from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
and then followed this thread to root my Skyrocket http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
now I think I need to get a rom manager to install cwm so I can start using custom roms?
If I decide not to use custom roms can I use titanium back up pro to freeze apps in order to extended my battery life?
Can I do something to change my boot animation?
What exactly can I do with root now to customize my phone even more with out installing a custom rom?
oh also do I need to keep unknown sourses and usb debugging checked now that I am rooted?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Yes keep it on it will be helpful in future!!!!
Unknown sources allows you to get paid app online and run it!!!
USB Debugging: Well you can turn it off but it will help in future if you fuc*** up ur phone you can try to get it back by adb!!!!!!

[Q] USB Debugging not working

Hi I was just posting to see if anyone can help me with this problem that im having. Im trying to root my infuse but when i check usb debugging its checks next to it, but when i connect my usb the usb debugging notification is not showing i tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing is working someone plz help me.
Are you on froyo or GB ?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Have you tried connecting your phone to the computer and running adb? If you just type adb devices, if your phone is connected it should show up.
Also, don't enable debugging when the sun cable is connected to your phone. Not saying you did, just thought it worth mentioning.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Oh yes sorry I'm currently on gb 2.3.6 infuse 4g AT&T
And no i havent im not sure what Adb is ha.
To root your phone from GB you need to install the Samsung provided drivers for the Infuse on your PC. You then need a Heimdall or Odin kernel package with cwm which you flash to your phone after booting it in download mode. You then flash a rooted ROM or root package from cwm recovery mode, after copying the package to your internal sd card. You can then flash whatever kernel you want.
The specific details behind this general process can be found in threads linked in the infuse super everything thread... See link in my sig below. Read up and do your research before attempting. Make a full backup of your phone too.

Ok thank you I did install a rooted rom with odin. Very much appreciated just two more question when installing a custom rom where do I put the rom file? And when I installed rom manager then I clicked a download rom it asked me to download something first I clicked install and then it asked me to verify my device it only had 3 options. Samsung nexus I think and some other ones I know my phone was not that model the only one that was close to mine was i900 I think or i9000 and mines an i977 I have a Samsung infuse for AT&T 2.3.6 gb should there be any problems or what do you suggest?
Custom ROM should be copied to your internal sdcard, then installed from cwm recovery. Make sure to backup your apps prior to this.. Titanium backup pro is a good choice. Do the necessary wipes before flashing. Read the OP (first post) of the rom for instructions.
Stay away from rom manager.
