[Q] Rooting - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I have searched for this and recieved some many posts I was over whelmed.
My problem is this, I have downloaded DoomLord v4 and have followed the instructions for what to do on my phone. So my USB debugging is enabled, Unknown Sources is enabled and even changed the screen timeout to 10 minutes. But when the process starts it gets to daemon started successfully and then just sits there forever.
Has anyone else experianced this and if so did you resolove it?
I have android version 2.3.5.

No I used it and didn't have that problem but I'm sure someone will have a answer for you
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App

Still curious if anyone has a solution
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk

Main problems I've seen; don't have the proper adb drivers installed and trying to execute the "runme.bat" file as "Administrator"; alot of problems, at least on Win7. I would verify drivers, then to be safe, just drop to a DOS prompt, go to the directory and run the "runme.bat" file.

Yea I just realized I didn't get the USB drivers to install correctly. When I connect my phone and point it to the folder the drivers are it doesn't find any available drivers. Not sure I am trying this on my XP computer are work. Going to go home in a hour or so and try it there as well maybe it will work better on my win 7 64 bit system
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk

ok well just tried to install the usb drivers on my windows 7 64bit system and it says the samething as the xp system. That it didn't find any drivers available. Oh well guess I am just not ment to root my phone, glad I am doing it just for fun and not cause I am having any problems with it lol

Well I didn't stop researching after all cause well I dont like giving up on something like that.
I was able to take the drivers from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
and then followed this thread to root my Skyrocket http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
now I think I need to get a rom manager to install cwm so I can start using custom roms?
If I decide not to use custom roms can I use titanium back up pro to freeze apps in order to extended my battery life?
Can I do something to change my boot animation?
What exactly can I do with root now to customize my phone even more with out installing a custom rom?

oh also do I need to keep unknown sourses and usb debugging checked now that I am rooted?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk

Yes keep it on it will be helpful in future!!!!
Unknown sources allows you to get paid app online and run it!!!
USB Debugging: Well you can turn it off but it will help in future if you fuc*** up ur phone you can try to get it back by adb!!!!!!

It works great.

Did it yesterday. Took 5minutes and rooted!! So far no problems

yep, superoneclick works. i think you have to use the psneuter exploit though. i read somewhere the rageinthecage doesn't work
Does the infuse have a locked bootloader?
Sent from Desire HD or Inspire 4G or whatever this thing is called via premium XDA app.
Actually RageInTheCage works fine. I used it to create a Root/Unlock pack that works on Linux, Mac, and Windows.
Howto Root and Unlock Infuse 4g
Just unpack and run the shell script or batch file.
I used Superoneclick yesterday worked like a charm. Just make sure you have the Samsung drivers installed and its a cake walk.
does anyone have a link for the correct drivers? I can't seem to find them.
Nevermind. Found them.

Agree, really easy with superoneclick.
It went thru first time, unlike my dell streak 5 which i spent lots of time before i was able to root it.
Superoneclick roots infuse on first try, if you have properly installed adb drivers of course

I installed all the drivers, now its stuck at Pushing psneuter, any ideas?
Now I just get "Waiting for Device" :/ bummer.
Yeah, I am rooted! Took two tries. Had to follow this advice:
If you're having issues with "wait for device" or if RATC is looping, try this
Unplug your USB Cable
Go to Settings > Applications > Development
Uncheck USB Debugging
Plug in your USB Cable
Unplug your USB Cable
Check USB Debugging
Plug in your USB Cable

I think it pretty much does. You'd want to unroot your phone if needed to take it back to the retailer for whatever reason.

And its probably safe to assume to "unroot" has been found. The phone is brand new so that would explain a great deal of it! Keep up the great work!

Root Problem SuperOneClick

Hello,
I've got a Skyrocket i727 and am stuck on the psneuter part when trying to root. I'm sorry for posting here since I'm sure the answers lie somewhere, but I've been researching since yesterday and haven't found it. I'm on a satellite internet connection that is pretttty slow.
Anyways, so I have the drivers installed, and then run SuperOneClick as Admin on windows 7. I click root and it runs until psneuter then appears to be stuck. It freezes there. When I close the black command screen that has opened it suggests I turn off debugging mode. When I try to close debugging mode it just stays at Waiting for Device...
So, what am I missing?
Thanks so much in advance.
SuperOneClick didn't work on mine because it had updated to 2.3.6 from 2.3.5...Which one do you have?

So, I've done some reading about CWM and am still not quite sure what it is. Does it replace my current setup? Do I lose my stuff?
Edit: for anyone else following this topic I found this info about cwm:

Is it possible to do this without having an external sd card?
Must have external SD. CWM is an aftermarket recovery that replaces your stock recovery. It allows you to flash roms, make nandroid backups restore nandroid backups ect.....

I had this issue over the weekend. Go out to samsungs site and find the kids drivers. In the superclick in the "exploit" switch to zergrush, click root. It should say do you want to install drivers, click yes and it shouldn't take more then 10 minutes.

[Q] Please Help! Major driver issues.

So I am trying to root a brand new Inspire 4G I picked up last week.
But I can't even get adb access. The driver is not working. I have tried the ones on the SD card, the one from the HTC site, the ones from Google, etc.. I just tried forcing the Google driver after modifying the inf to include the device (something I read to try in another post) And it comes up as an ADB Interface Composite Device, but says I need to restart, and still doesn't work at that point.
I restart and it automatically installs a different driver thats shows up in device driver as " My HTC" with a yellow Exclamation mark.?
I have tried uninstalling Sync and all the drivers asociated with anything to do with the phone in device manager. But it still keeps installing as that "My HTC".
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
The best, and IMO flawless way to root using Ace Advance Hack Kit is to make a Ubuntu Live CD and run it from Ubuntu. Just too much crap to worry about disabling in Windows.

Have you tried installing the Ace Hack Kit driver?...go to the development forum and find the Advanced Ace Hack Kit...that is the best way to do it. If that driver is not working, you can try using Ubuntu..

[Q] Computer won't recognize skyrocket when trying to get into download mode

I'm assuming you're rooted and have usb debugging on.
Superoneclick is a popular rooting tool, but it also has a utility to find and install drivers for your device. It will force generic drivers if it can't find any. It's worth a try.

Not rooted, I was under the impression that you didn't have to be to install the leak. And I discovered this whole thing while I was trying to root my phone.
Okay, I've tried manually updating/installing the Skyrocket drivers, and I get the message "Windows cannot install the driver software. This device cannot start (Code 10)"
I've officially determined that it's my computer. I tried it on my brother's laptop and it worked just fine.
uninstall the drivers. reboot. reinstall the drivers. possibly something went corrupt.
I had to uninstall Samsung Kies and re-install it. Reboot a couple times thenc onnect your device to the PC. The device sat seemingly unrecognized for several minutes until suddenly a pop up appear and the drivers re-installed to the PC. Good to go after that.
I tried both of those, still get the same error message. I'm just gonna try it on my brother's laptop. I feel like there's probably something wrong with the USB ports on mine. Thanks for all your help.
Final update: Worked just fine on my brother's laptop. Currently running the ICS leak on my phone.
So sick of this issue
I hate to revive old threads, but I gotta get this off my chest. I'm so damn sick of non-functioning USB. It has affected me on numerous ROMs, two different devices, and a total of 3 USB ports (squaretrade warranty paid for a replacement at one point).
WTF @SAMSUNG!!!! Get yo' s*** together. I'm convinced that it is a straight up bad hardware batch and I'm about to dump the skyrocket altogether for the S3. I've reached the point where it's no longer worth the time/effort/money to keep owning a skyrocket. I've never had troubles with the wife's S3.
If anyone has any magical solutions that haven't been posted in this thread, please fire them my way. Otherwise I'm about to leave the SR Galaxy for bigger and better things.

I had a terrible time getting my Nexus 7 to be recognized by my computer and even then it didn't recognize properly. I was able to prevail though and get everything working properly. Installing android SDK (adb) did the trick
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
The device not recognizing properly seems to be a jellybean issue though

Skyrocket will NOT connect to PC, have tried everything

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket (SGH-I727 / AT&T) that I cannot get to connect to a PC after weeks of trying. I have tried to read through hundreds of threads regarding this issue and it seems others have had similar issues but nothing quite like this.
When I connect my phone to a PC, it does charge but Windows XP or Windows 7 will not recognize the phone. Anytime it is connected an error pops up stating "USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."
So to clarify, I have tried the following suggestions from others to troubleshoot and try to narrow down the issue:
1.) I have tried 4 separate USB cables, including the original OEM Samsung brand data cable that came with the phone.
2.) I have tried 3 separate PC's (2 with Windows 7, 1 with Windows XP).
3.) I have installed Samsung Kies on all 3 PCs, uninstalled and reinstalled the program as well as the Samsung Drivers on multiple occasions.
4.) I have done a factory/data reset on the phone twice to see if this was an issue caused by other apps I've downloaded in the past.
5.) I have tried to use USB Debugging/Developer option and then connect the phone to no avail.
6.) I have tried USB Mass Storage option before connecting the phone.
7.) I have tried to connect the phone to a PC in Samsung's default recovery mode and still showed it was not a recognizable device.
8.) I have tried a friend's galaxy S3 on all cables and PC's mentioned above and Kies immediately recognizes her phone.
9.) I have attempted to clean the physical microusb port with a small brush to make sure the contacts were clean and not being blocked by something.
10.)I have done a battery pull and about 20+ phone resets for all above mentioned attempts.
Based on all of these attempts without any success, it seems to me that this being a PHONE hardware issue is highly probable. I've ruled out just about every other scenario and I'm wondering at this point if my phone's Micro USB port is fried somehow.
Has anyone heard of this or is this a reasonable possibility?
I have tried just about everything I can so far, if anyone has any other suggestions or has any information that may confirm my suspicion, please let me know.
This all came about in the past week due to Jelly Bean being finally released by AT&T / Samsung for the Skyrocket and unfortunately, this update only seems to be available via Kies and a direct data cable to a PC. I have tried to go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check for Updates (while connected to Wifi with a full battery) and the phone has told me 3 times over the past 3 days that my current Ice Cream Sandwich v4.0.4 Android is the most current software up to date. I'm guessing they're not planning on releasing Jelly Bean to the Skyrocket via OTA air updates....so now I'm stuck.

Well after getting into the details on the post, it looks like this is created for a phone that already has a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP installed. Since I do not have a USB port to use on this phone as of right now, is there any way to install a custom recovery on my phone without using USB?
I did download the stock 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware directly on the phone's default directory already and it's sitting there in a zip format. If I'm not able to root and/or install a custom recovery without using a USB cable, would it be possible to install the stock firmware using the default samsung recovery mode?

It wouldn't work. Nothing will install in Android System Recovery <3e>. Everything I tried still came back with Signature Verification Failed.
I also tried lifting the "tongue" inside the usb port on the phone several times previously and that didn't work either. I must assume at this point the usb daughterboard or something inside is messed up.
Since stock recovery can't install any type of files and I can't connect the phone to a PC in any way and my phone is 100% stock without root or any custom recovery, I can only imagine I'm stuck in this situation. I have yet to see any solutions for getting root or installing CWM without having a USB connection that works. Unless I can do either of those things, it looks like I'm SOL for updating from ICS to JB.
If they had only made Jelly Bean an Over the Air update, none of this would be a problem really.

Too dangerous the ota bricks tons of people when they do it I can only assume at&t is tired of it and opts for kies only. Also you could buy a daughter board and replace it. It's a relatively easy fix.

So .... lesson learned here is that you CANNOT root a phone or install any custom recoveries such as CWM or TWRP without having a working USB connection. As a result, you CANNOT install any updates, stock firmwares and especially custom roms without the above.
Only option at this point is to order the replacement part for the USB port on the phone or to purchase a new phone (if it's outside of the warranty period).

No you need USB to root that's it technically. If you have root you can install a recovery IMG without a computer using a terminal emulator and dd commands.

yes and no, its the chicken and the egg kind of question, for the sr to get root u need to flash the su files, but u need to have a custom recovery to flash the su files. is there a way to get the su files onto the sr w/out a custom recovery? I haven't seen one yet unless there was a oneclick method which I never used

There is no one click available for 4.x forward.
I am wondering, however, if something like this would work:
