[Q] Xperia L video format problem (Mp4 only) - Sony Xperia L

my Xperia L plays only .Mp4 format videos and fails to play all other formats such as wmv, mkv, flv and etc.
when I try to transfer video files of format other than .Mp4, then the window shows the error that this file might would not work on my phone if I do not convert it before transferring. And when I convert it, it is converted into Mp4 format and then works fine on the phone. But the problem is that the converting take so much time (that is about an hour for 100 Mb file - 720P video). Also the Media Go takes about the same conversion time.
Even the MX Player fails to play other files than mp4, it shows error or else plays with extreme lag.
I don't know if this is the issue only with me or with all the Xperia L users. Please help if you have some handy solutions.

That does not work. When I do the "moving files anyway" option, then those videos plays with extremely lag in MX Player (without conversion, those videos plays in S/W mode in MX player, instead in HW, HW+, and that's why it lags). And the stock player also fails to run such files.

You have to download sus from sony website and reset firmware, and I greented that this trick works.and in which phones stock player not work no other player works on that,i played 1080p using mx and played smoothly but give a quality more bad than 360p. You have to reset your firmware only this is real solution.

Mate! First of all you need to Change the usb connection option from the settings so that you will not get the conversion option and it will not take much time.and then you need to install a player that is able to play all formats.the stock does not play all. It only plays mp4.
To change the option in settings go to settings>>xperia>>connectivity>>sub connection mode and select the 2nd option that is mass storage where only your sd card will be mounted to the computer in a normal way.

Bro, I have already tried "moving files anyway" and then tried to play those files using MX player(which is known for it's best compatibility on android) but then got unsatisfied results. The MX player was able to play those files, but in SW+ Mode with extreme lags.
So that's why I don't think your solution would work, can you suggest me any other better solution?

I'm going to try this out when I get home tonight and see if I can't put together an apk that will work with hulu.
I've taken a stab at editing the GLES optimized flash APK from here to work with the Hulu "fix".
I'm still waiting on my replacement tablet to come in, but it might be helpful for someone. You'll have to uninstall your old version of flash.

Flash still works on gtablet but no hulu. Still asks for flash upgrade. Sure would be nice to get this working if at all possible.

Well I was able to modify the libflashplayer.so player and got hulu working, but I can't seem to figure out how to create an apk that will install correctly, my attempts failed where the apk fails to install.
Can someone try the libflashplayer.so file attached and see if if works for them. Then maybe someone with more knowledge than me can package it into the apk.

When you go to Hulu, it says you need flash player 10.0.32 or higher. When I replaced just my so file with the original apk it worked, I was able to create an apk successfully now, but I also get this same issue, so not sure what is going on. Is there something else in the apk that needs to be changed besides the libflashplayer.so file?

Try with my hulu app from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6888650&postcount=139
It sets your User Agent to desktop and loads their mobile site. You can also hit "Menu -> Test Flash" to see what version of flash hulu will see.

Ok, seems to have fixed itself. I think the system didn't think flash was installed at all and once it settled down or maybe reboot helped I was able to get it to work in Dolphin and the Hulu app. I tried this with the stuff I was working on and the apk you posted and both work, so all looks good.
Thanks for getting this working, nice to have hulu working on this. Anyone else want to try this out and verify it is working?
EDIT: This seems to be intermittent, I get a circle with ! after some time of playing. Maybe the flash crashing?

I performed the following:
1) Uninstall-ed FLASH
2) Installed your fixed version
3) Launched Dolphin HD
4) Set user agent as Desktop (in the Dolphin HD settings)
5) Browsed wuth Dolphin HD to Hulu.com and received the following error message: :Hulu requires Flash Player 10.0.32 or higher. Please download and install the latest version of Flash Player before continuing."
I will re-boot to see if that is needed. Reboot did not help.
Also Getting the same error message
Wonder if hulu figured out another check? I get the same error with the 105.7 with the patch too
I found a website that has instructions on how to get hulu working on the galaxy tab and it's worked for me so far.(huluongalaxytab.weebly.com)

Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 WLAN (YP-G1) no app market

Hi,
I'm in China right now, and i bought the new Samsung Mp4 Player (Samsung Galaxy Player WLAN 4.0, YP-G1) at amazon.cn .
Its my first android device, but iam not a electronics noob. I thought i would get an android market app, but actually theres only a "samsung app store" with a total of 8 apps available...
I found apk links to googlemaps and skype, and managed to install them. But all downloads of the android market failed to install.
Am I not going to succeed in trying to install the app market? I read about "flashing" the zip file, but no guide talks about this player.
Heres a picture of the "about" page:
h**p://i53.tinypic.com/nmagls.jpg
Does the SDK package maybe help? I read thats a way to install packages too.
Thanks in advance!
So far I downloaded many versions of the market apk.
For most of them I'm unable to install them. If i clock on the apk it says installation failed.
One actually worked, at least i could install it. When i want to open it though it pop ups with a white screen and then disappears again.
SDK didnt work so far since the USB drivers aren't working for the Galaxy Player yet, at least Windows says it can`t find any drivers in the extras\usb-driver folder.
I found a guide for the i9000, using the dial pad. But no phone functionality, no dial pad
If I would succeed in rooting my player, is it sure the market will be installable?
No other way?
I followed this guide: h**p://samsung-phones-apps.com/how-to-install-enable-android-market-on-galaxy-s-galaxy-tab.html , but the last step, copying the files with root explorer, didnt work.
I can get R/W root access, but it wont copy anything into the system apps folder.
I tried to flash the zip for the market app here from the forums, but i cant flash it without a valid signature, screenshot: h**p://i54.tinypic.com/x5qo2b.jpg
I will try to sign it with signing tool i found, lets see if that helps.
How can it be that difficult to install the stupid market
I actually succeded with some apk, but when i try to start the market app the screen turns white for half a second and then the app closes down again.
Anyone got any ideas?
Well, in the end i managed to half brick the player. Then i couldnt find an original rom (actually without a nandroid version for the player i also couldnt update the rom before flashing the wrong one).
I also tried the rom from the koren YP-GB1 player, but with that rom the touchscreen was not working correctly, left and right was ok, but up and down where exchanged, try writing on a keyboard thats actually at another place on the screen...
So in the end i went to samsung and they just gave me a paper, now amazon send me a new one.
If anybody gets the same player, dont try something funny until the original rom is out
Thanks for your advice! Let's hope that by the end of the years the pros start developing the samsung players. Then at least we'll be able to get better sound with the Voodoo Control sound app (needs root...).

[GUIDE] Rooting Xtreamer Wonder - Android media player

Xtreamer Wonder - Android media player
Rooting guide
DISCLAIMER
Everything you decide to do with your device is at your own risk.
I take no responsibility for any damage caused by any of your root-related activities.
Introduction
This guide will help you to gain root on your Xtreamer Wonder Android media player.
It has been tested and confirmed working on all firmwares currently available.
How it works
Rooting method takes advantage of amlogic system update facility that can be activated using
Reset button. Rooting package contains my special modified version of original recovery image that installs all the necessary root components during recovery boot.
Highlights
- easy to use
- low risk of bricking - possible to reset device whenever needed
- won't void warranty - unroot possible by simply resetting device
- won't wipe any system or user data
- won't replace original recovery
Requirements
USB stick/SD card formatted as fat32 (NTFS will not work).
In case procedure below fails try to use smaller USB stick/SD card up to 4GB.
Instructions
1) Download proper rooting ZIP package matching the version of Android system installed on your Wonder (Kitkat or Lollipop)
2) Extract ZIP package directly to the root of micro SD card/USB stick and insert micro SD card/USB stick back into Wonder.
3) Turn off Wonder and unplug power cable
4) Disconnect all other devices from USB ports (including airmouse receiver)
5) Use paper clip to push reset button located below Ethernet connector
6) Plug in power cable keeping reset button pressed until device boots into recovery; then release reset button
7) Recovery should show either "Wiping" or just a progress bar without text
DO NOT PANIC, NOTHING WILL ACTUALLY BE WIPED APART FROM CACHE
DO NOT INTERRUPT THE PROCESS.
Wait patiently for couple of minutes for the process to finish, Wonder will reboot automatically.
Next steps are necessary for older KitKat firmwares only. In Lollipop fw, SuperSU will be installed during rooting process automatically.
8) After reboot, use play store to install SuperSU by Chainfire
9) Open SuperSU and confirm to update su binary when asked (choosing Normal method)
In case rooting fails
Grab supersu.log from /data/local/tmp directory on Wonder filesystem and attach it within this thread.
In case your file manager app is unable to navigate to that directory, you can use terminal emulator app to cd to that
directory and use copy command to copy out the log to /sdcard where you can access it from file manager app.
Unrooting instructions
Flash original firmware following Xtreamer's standard firmware upgrade instructions.
This will wipe all user data!!!

AFAIK, it's not currently possible as OpenELEC does not officially support AmLogic chips.
There are some ports for AmLogic here on XDA but not sure whether compatible with Wonder.
Btw, I have built custom clockworkmod recovery for Wonder so it would be possible to flash different system if people want to get adventurous It's currently experimental but I have successfully made a nandroid backup/restore test with it.

Yesterday xtreamer released a new firmware (see in the forums) and i could not resist to experiment a little bit, because i was now safe that i have something for recovery. So i took an Openelec build from Kerber (google for kerber openelec) for the 812 chipset and replaced the the wonder firmware and flashed the openeelec build. You simply need to exchange the zip file.
System is coming up and so far everything was working fine, network, moview, audio, however, and thats the reason why i have gone back to android, the air mouse control buttons are not properly mapped and after some time the system begins to stutter. But I assume this ws coming from pressing different buttons at once. I hope someone will do some reconfig for the airmouse.
Flashing back to the wonder firmware was not problem.
Thanks for your job. I've rooted my wonder but now Kodi doesn't work. How about?
I don't think root has anything to do with kodi working or not. My stock xbmc works just fine. What are the symptoms?
@c0ldsun
Thanks for sharing your experience. I was afraid of flashing openelec as the installation package also replaces bootloader which could brick device easily and prevent reset from working
The stock XBMC work fine but the new Kodi for HEVC video file doesn't open when i start it and stay on black screen

I had too many issues on Kodi 14 even before rooting. Lag, black screen which could be solved only with reboot. That's why I went back to stock XBMC.
Of course but stock XBMC doesn't read HEVC h265 file
Thx for the root image, works fine!
But I am unable to write to the external sd-card, I tried to fix the permissions.xml but it did not work.
("SDFix: KitKat Writable MicroSD" from Google Play Store can not solve the problem.)
Can you write to the external sd-card? Any idea for a fix?
I was thinking we can solve this kitkat limitation with root permission....
Thanks for your help!
Greeting,
Wille
Yeah, it's kind of weird. I couldn't make it work either. Seems like ext SD is mount read-only so permissions.xml fix is not enough. After doing some tests I found out I can only write to SD when I use terminal to issue:
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /storage/external_storage/sdcard1
The same issue I experience in my custom built clockworkmod recovery. I can't make backups to external SD. I believe there's something at kernel level driver that makes SD card mounting always read-only.
boot loop
Hi, where i cant get stock rom?
Any idea?

"Unknown error occurred" lg g4 post root

So I'm pretty new to rooting (only done it on like 2 other devices) and I was excited to see how easy the lg g4 root was. So I downloaded necessary drivers etc. I than rooted my device with the . Img however after this it gave the constant error "system. (some extension I can't remember) has stopped working. So anyways I did a factory reset and everything is good as far as booting and running the stock rom, and I am indeed rooted. But MY ISSUE is that I simply can't use my video feature on my camera, I can take pictures but I cannot take any video. I've flashed one other rom and wiped the camera data and cache with no positive results. Any suggestions as to how I can take videos at this point? For some reason I also don't have thumbnails for videos AND to play any video I can't use my phones default media player because if I do I get the "unsupported file type" error message, when I'm very sure mp4 is supported lol. Please help!
UPDATE: I double checked that I flashed the system root image correctly, so I reattempted with perfect results this time, resulting in normal system operation in everything EXCEPT my friggin video camera working, the problem is still persisting.
