Hi guys I ve been a htc desire hd user and I have been installing roms on it . Now I got my galaxy tab 2 10.1 on jellybean 4.1.1. It was brand new and I rooted it by flashing some zip through odin and installed philz recovery ( didnt do anything with bootloader since I followed a guide). I then started to download and install roms. Cyanogemod jellybean rom installed fine on it but other then that rom I tried putting infected, cyanogen mod android 4.3 rom and two other roms. I made sure I did data wipe, cacha wipe e.t.c, downloaded right roms and other things. Still these roms dont load. When I start my device its just stuck on samsung tab 2 10.1 logo forever, except for the cyanogemmod jellybean rom. I dont think theres a problem with recovery since it install the rom fine and other thn that it developed by cwm. From my experience I think there must be a problem in flashing/loading of boot image but I am still not sure. Remember I didnt do anythimg with bootloader, dont know whether it locked or unlocked but why arent other roms installing on my tab except cyanogenmod 4.1 rom. Even ics roms dont install. while I have seen people comments that they get to install roms successfully and have exactly my model of tab.
My model is gt p5113 and running stock 4.1.1 for now. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Only things i can think of are that you change recovery or just try to download all stuff for roms again and again. Maybe there is something broken in your device.

Yes, Normally Installing new ROM does not wipe your music and gallery if they are stored on your external SD card.

Every time I try to flash something my tablet fails, and I have to revert back my backup. It doesn't matter if I download on PC or from the tablet itself. HELP!!!!

Can you post what rom you are using right now, as well as what recovery version.
Also, what rom are you trying to flash ? You are rooted, right ?
If you can post some more details - am sure people will chime in
Good luck,

I'm running stock 4.0.4, Rooted, Clockworkmod recovery. I have tried to flash several different roms. Romswell, AOKP, CM nightlies thru ROM manager. all of them fail in recovery. I flash stuff all the time on my SIII so I'm not really a Noob to flashing and what not, but I can't figure this one out. Thanks for any help.
What are you using for recovery? When you say failed what is the error message? Sounds like you should prolly reflash a current official recovery. If by failing you mean it hangs on first boot then your not wiping system before flashing. Factory reset and wipe system before you flash.
Are you by chance running any scripts for sd card swap, etc ?
I am running this script, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961097 which swaps my 32GB external sd for the internal sd, which runs great - no issues, except with rom manager and flashing from recovery.
I have to go back and de-activate the script, reboot, and then dowload - or transfer file from PC, and it flashes without issue
Otherwise, I have had no flashing issues of any kind - using CWM 6.0.1.5 for the p3113
Good luck,
Bill
Hello everyone!
As the title said, I got a bootloop after trying to install Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean.
How I did it:
1. Installed Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean and Google apps for CyanogedMod 10.1 to my computer and transfered them to my phone's root.
2. Made a backup of the current version.
3. Installed first the ROM and then Google apps.
4. Rebooted my phone and now I got the bootloop.
I know that I didn't wipe data/cache/dalvik cache, that's probably the problem. I tried to resotre the backup I made but I get an error that says "MD5 mismatch!". I've also tried to wipe data/cache/dalvik cache and then install it again, I still get the same problem. The file isn't corrupted because I downloaded it several times and still same problem. I also tried to install it twice in a row but that doesn't work either. I can get into the bootloader and recovery menu.
Phone info:
HTC Desire S
HBOOT-2.00.0002
S-On
Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
I'm pretty new to this so please give easy steps on what I could do.
Thank you!
As your phone is still s-on, you have to flash the boot.img (from the new rom) in fastboot every time you install a new rom.

Sorry for the noob question, but how do I do that?
EDIT: I forgot to mention that it bootloops on the CyanogenMod picture, not on the one with the HTC logo.

dude, this is on the FIRST page of General forum

And your MD5 mismatch almost certainly means that you created the NanDroid backup, then renamed it or moved it.
Everything works perfect now! Thank you!

1) Rom manager is not compatible with Atrix 2. I would not use it. Why do you need it anyway??
You can use Atrix Bootstrapper to go into CWM recovery . Rest can be done there. Or you can use Boot Menu Manager.
2)Of course! it will still be there! the backup is saved on your SD Card. So as long as you don't format your SD Card. It will be there.

Rom Manager does work with Atrix2. If you're on Stock ICS, you can install CWM on every boot, then flash the Bionic recovery through Rom Manager. That will allow you to use the 1 touch backup in RM, just hit backup rom and everything does what it's supposed to.
Here is the CWM on every boot for Stock ICS.

2)will the CWM recovery exist after flashing new rom or i need to install it again??
when i restore to stock fom JB, it means downgrading the firmware right??
so will there be a chance of bricking or is it same to restore anytime from any version??

No, your Recovery will be wiped after you flash a new rom, but you can install it again and restore your ROM.
But when restoring a rom, make sure you ARE ON THE ROM you are restoring.
E.g. If you flash JB and want Stock ICS back with your backup. First flash the Stock ICS from RSD and then restore your backup from CWM on it.
Or Vice-Versa.
@41rw4lk, Thanks for rectifying that. I did not bother with Rom Manager much.

I don't think any recovery exist after flashing a new rom. We have a locked bootloader, so we can't replace the stock recovery.img, all of our recoveries hijack the boot process to work. CM10 and PA I believe have a built in recovery, and that's about as close as you'll get to having a recovery exist after flashing a rom.
As far as restoring from JB, I believe you can downgrade to ICS, but you'll have to look at the JB thread to be certain. I'm on AT&T so I haven't had an opportunity to try JB (officially). CM10 is based on JB, but for our phone with the locked bootloader, it's more of a pseudo experience and is based on our ICS framework.
As for bricking, there is always a chance to brick, that's part of the mod game, but if you read and pay attention to what you have and what you're doing, you'll be alright.

UNLESS you have AT&T phone you should be just fine with ref lashing the ICS.
YES. there is a big problem if you are not on a ROM you are restoring.

You need to use the CWM on every boot setup, the Atrix2Bootstrap alone won't do.

Yes. I will say though, if you're on an AT&T branded phone with AT&T firmware, do NOT try to flash the new JB FXZ. It doesn't matter who your carrier is, it matters what firmware your phone is using. So, if you're on AT&T then you need to make sure that the things you flash are for AT&T, or else you will brick and that will be then end of that.

CM10
PA
Numa
MIUI (had battery issues, but I think they got it all worked out)
there's a few, you'll just have to look. Most of the time, if something is not meant for AT&T, the devs will post in the description that it isn't compatible. If you want stock ICS back at anytime, you can do yourself a favor and make a backup of your stock ICS all setup the way you like it, so you can restore if needed. If all else fails, there is an Official ICS FXZ that will get you back to stock ICS.

You're killing me smalls. You're on ICS already, you're not downgrading anything, nor can you downgrade ie. Gingerbread. There is no Official JB for AT&T, so that's not an issue. CM10 is a JB based rom built on an ICS frame, (for our phone at least), and again, you're not downgrading.
To make a back up, boot in to CWM or whatever recovery you're using (not stock), and click backup. You might hit up the noob thread to get an idea of the terminology and basics for our device. Not trying to be rude, but you're running yourself in circles. You got to walk before you can run.
Hello guys.
I have a rooted ace plus so i will tell my history now.
i rooted him, i flashed cm10 and all ok but i wanted to get back to stock so i flashed stock firmware and it was like new.
but i saw the stock one is really slow so i decided to root again and then i flashed some other roms than cm.
i installed inspiration v12 and atomblast v3 but when i flash some of them it says at CWM (6.x.x) :
ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix? and i can chose yes and no so i never hit the yes button but even if i go back it reboots.
I dont speek english very well so i dont understand the question and i dont want to brick something if someone can explain me what i have to hit or explain me the question i would be very grateful. Now i applied a backup and it didnt asked me the reboot thing,
Thanks

ok guys, stupid question time. i have been out of the hacking game for a while and havent been keeping up with the S3 since i was running a pretty stable version of cyanogenmod. i picked up a S5 last month and the S3 has just been sitting but the wifes phone is on its last leg so i figured i would update the S3 and give it to her since it would be an upgrade to what she has now. i was running CM 4.1.2 and tried to flash the 4.3 AllianceRom. did my usual, updated CWM, downloaded the rom, checked the MD5, flashed the new modem and rom using CWM and everything looked good. then it happened. stuck at the "galaxy SIII" logo screen. nothing got me out of it. wiped everything, tried a reinstall, downloaded the rom again and did an install, nothing. tried another rom and the install failed, tried another rom and again, install failed. so i had a copy of cleanrom 5.6 which is a 4.1.1 rom and damn if that didnt hand as well. so i did a battery pull and luckly it had installed and the phone actually booted up and into android. the only downside is for some reason i cant connect to wifi with the rom. so, i still want to try either 4.3 or 4.4 on this phone so the question is, WTF am i doing wrong that it wont boot? shouldnt i be able to go from 4.1.1 to 4.3 or 4.4 by just using CWM? help a brother out.

You need to use the latest PhilZ Touch Recovery (https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte/) (just flash it in your current recovery). It is the best, and it works great. I would first go to "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" and choose to "Clean to Install a New ROM." Then I would go into "Advanced" and wipe dalvik cache. Then I would go into "Mounts and Storage" and format boot and modem. Then I would flash the newest modem (http://www.mediafire.com/download/v0als76t6nmtpbo/DNE1.modem.zip). Then finally install your ROM and then GApps.
yes, CWM was updated just before flashing. i installed the recommended modem for the rom i was installing. not sure why it was stuck at the logo on 4.3 when i flashed a 4.1.1 rom and it booted right up just fine.
resolved. thanks guys.

I did all of the above and I can't get anything to work....
I updated to Philz, updated the modem and went to install a new ROM and it's error'ing out every time?
This phone was rooted from way back and it appears that I may have lost root... It's stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S III boot screen and I'm trying to get it to boot in to recovery at this time.
Edit: Was able to get in to recovery and restoring a backup now. Somethings not right when trying to go to a newer ROM.

Did you update to the latest version? If your on an old version and attempt to flash a 4.4 rom you will get a status 7 error everytime

I thought I updated to the latest Phliz and I do believe that's the error I was getting when I tried to load the ROM.
I'll check again Monday.
I appreciate the info.
The issue was with Philz.
I upgraded to the latest TWRP and loaded the new ROM fine.
