[Q] Can't disable sweep2wake in sultan kernel - HTC Sensation

Does anyone has the same problem?
Even if I choose not to install sweep2wake in aroma, I still get it.
Applied powerful mod reset and cleared cache and dalvik before reinstalling kernel but still the same.
I've tried using ES explorer to edit the sweep2wake_sw to 0(disabled0, but it would change to 2(enabled with light) after restart
I'm using ARHD 7.3

Did you set the rights right, the file has to be executable, so a chmod +x should do the trick...

Strange that sweep2wake didn't get disabled for you. 89z_kernel can only be modified with a root text editor.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app

Using root browser, I've set both the s2w switch and 99 kernel to rwxrwxrwx and restarted the phone. But it didn't work still
Another thing i tried was to execute 99kernel manually. It works, but the setting does not stick.

just select the third option no,not the second one.

As long as I've installed using aroma, I probably don't have to meddle with the permissions for it to work properly.
But anyway, I've wiped the phone and reinstalled ARHD 7.3 with stock rom. After which I installed the sultan rom again.
And I still can't disable sleep2wake

in kernel tuner, press menu button and select check comaptibility, i hope it helps..

Try another file explorer and another editor than es file explorer to disable it.
I had the same problem once, I just used another app and it worked.

Thanks all for your help and advice. I've decided to just install bricked kernel instead and all is now good.

Tell ya what, you didn't search but head to google and search "edit sensation build prop screenshot" and the first result has your answer.
The screen capture is disabled by default, on that Rom. Go to your build.prop and were it says
" screen capture= false"
Change it to say true, reboot wipe cache and it should be working

I looked it up and its drocap2, but Android market says it does require root.
I found out my phone already has a custom ROM (InsertCoin). So I tried Astro File Manager to edit the build.prop where it says "screen capture=false" to switch it to true. I used Astro File Manager, as suggested here
http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/how-to-edit-build-prop
That article says that Astro File Manager has Root Capability, and my device should already be rooted due to the Custom ROM, right?
But I find the Save button disabled and cannot write out the file. Why?
Is it possible or likely to have InsertCoin and NOT be rooted? How do I tell if I am rooted?
Thanks.
(I tried drocap2 and the pictures all have the popup message "drocap2 has been granted Superuser permissions". How do I get rid of that message?)

Your rooted if running IC, Astro isnt your best bet I use root explorer or something similar. You also want to make sure that you set r/w privileges so you cant actually save the file after editing then be sure to set back to r/o after.
Screencapture = fubar (Help?)
Alright, this is just bizarre. I just flashed Android Revolution XE 6.6.4 on my Sensation, with the feux kernel. Right after flashing, the screenshot function (power + home) worked fine. Now it does not work at all, even though the build.prop has the value "true" for screen capture. I had the same thing happen to me with ARHD 2.2.1 for the Amaze. Is there some app I'm using that would screw with the build.prop? The only sort of weird app I run is gscript; I use it to run scripts to turn the leds and backlight on and off.
To address your suggestions before you suggest them: I've changed the value to both "true" and "false," saved, wiped dalvik, rebooted. Nada.
I've tried the stock ICS method (power + vol down) with the build.prop value as both true and false. Nada.
I've heard people mention that the Sweep2Wake function will take a screenshot if you swipe the softkeys right to left. That simply locks my screen.
Anybody experienced an app that messes with the build.prop file? Or some similar problem?

A quick Google search and found this http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/htc-busybox-not-installing.994972/) according to the replies on the thread others got it working. Or search the this Q&A thread.. You should find this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423623
I might be wrong, but being rooted isn't enough. You won't be able to write to the system unless your using s-off or are using a kernel with system protection turned off. Maybe there's a version you can install from the recovery, or manually install the required files from recovery using the built in file manager or "aroma file manager" that can be run from recovery?

Nothing but problems here.
Either it force closes or a dialog box pops up saying because a re-write of my build.prop is necessary, I need to make a nandroid backup or the driver may malfunction.
I assume this won't work until there is an S-Off method.
Im holding off for now
Strangely enough. No third party EQs seem to function correctly at all. Have tried multiple apps with zero sound difference.

Where can we download Viper4Android mod? Is this a simple install and works type of tweak or do you have to manually tweak every little setting? I'm not a big audio techy so not sure even what do adjust? Any difference with bluetooth headsets?

After installing Viper, is there a way to fully uninstall it? I tried to yesterday and it messed up my microphone audio and had to do a factory reset.
Does this have any effect on Pandora radio? I know that some audio mods do not....at least they didn't on my old Moto phones.

The config file is located at /etc/elementalx.conf. You can edit this file to change kernel settings. Whatever is set in this file will take effect when the device is booted (unless other scripts or apps interfere!)

I've been using ElementalX for some time. There's an app in the play store specifically for ElementalX kernel.
I always installed the kernel with default settings in AROMA installer since the app lets you tune all the values anyway

If I want to install another kernel, can I just install it in the recovery(using the install button in the recovery mode)? Should I clean the present kernel, then install another kernel in the recovery?
There are recommendations that you should dirty flash the original ROM (which then overwrites your current kernel with the stock one). If you're on stock Android (Vanilla), fastboot flash the boot.img from the appropriate factory image. Then use your recovery to install zip > choose your kernel zip.
I've always used the 'easy method' by just dirty-flashing the kernel I want to try. Worked fine all the time [emoji14]

[MOD] Color Control (Marshmallow)

This is a module for the stock kernel that enables color control (RGB, Saturation, Hue, Contrast and Value).
This is the KCAL advanced color control driver by @savoca, but I've modified it to compile as a module so it can be used on the stock kernel.
This works with stock kernel on 1.32, 1.40, 2.7 and 3.35 (Marshmallow) bases
If you want it to load automatically, you need to be rooted with SuperSU
If you want to thank me, use my app, EX Kernel Manager. It has full control of everything, including advanced color control and the ability to save and load color profiles.

It sounds like the module is not compatible with your kernel. It only works with the exact kernel version specified in the OP.
Here's what you can do:
1. Do a nandroid backup of /system and /boot.
2. Download this stock kernel (from the leedroid thread): http://www.leedroid.co.uk/Stock-M9-Kernel.zip
3. Re-install the color module and it should be working
I'm 99% sure the stock kernel I linked will work for you, if not, restore the backup. That's why I suggested making the back up in step 1.

Got to the TWRP thread and see if they can help you get the system backup. It's important to back up /system because that is where the kernel modules are located. They must match the running kernel. At the very least, you would have to backup /system/lib/modules and the boot partition.
