I have Android Revolution HD Rom and my android version is 2.3.4
When I press Power + Home key, why I can't take a screeshot?

Tell ya what, you didn't search but head to google and search "edit sensation build prop screenshot" and the first result has your answer.
The screen capture is disabled by default, on that Rom. Go to your build.prop and were it says
" screen capture= false"
Change it to say true, reboot wipe cache and it should be working

I have Android 2.3.5 and the setting is by default false. It requires root to change it. Is there any way to take screen shot without rooting?

I looked it up and its drocap2, but Android market says it does require root.
I found out my phone already has a custom ROM (InsertCoin). So I tried Astro File Manager to edit the build.prop where it says "screen capture=false" to switch it to true. I used Astro File Manager, as suggested here
http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/how-to-edit-build-prop
That article says that Astro File Manager has Root Capability, and my device should already be rooted due to the Custom ROM, right?
But I find the Save button disabled and cannot write out the file. Why?
Is it possible or likely to have InsertCoin and NOT be rooted? How do I tell if I am rooted?
Thanks.
(I tried drocap2 and the pictures all have the popup message "drocap2 has been granted Superuser permissions". How do I get rid of that message?)

Your rooted if running IC, Astro isnt your best bet I use root explorer or something similar. You also want to make sure that you set r/w privileges so you cant actually save the file after editing then be sure to set back to r/o after.
Screencapture = fubar (Help?)
Alright, this is just bizarre. I just flashed Android Revolution XE 6.6.4 on my Sensation, with the feux kernel. Right after flashing, the screenshot function (power + home) worked fine. Now it does not work at all, even though the build.prop has the value "true" for screen capture. I had the same thing happen to me with ARHD 2.2.1 for the Amaze. Is there some app I'm using that would screw with the build.prop? The only sort of weird app I run is gscript; I use it to run scripts to turn the leds and backlight on and off.
To address your suggestions before you suggest them: I've changed the value to both "true" and "false," saved, wiped dalvik, rebooted. Nada.
I've tried the stock ICS method (power + vol down) with the build.prop value as both true and false. Nada.
I've heard people mention that the Sweep2Wake function will take a screenshot if you swipe the softkeys right to left. That simply locks my screen.
Anybody experienced an app that messes with the build.prop file? Or some similar problem?

This update is only for devices under 1.15 this is a diff patcher from 1.15 to 1.18.
Have you been able to get root access with this. This came on the device I won from htc at work and superuser keeps crashing. Im considering attempting a downgrade as I got the recovery menu installed as it came s-off

Please try the following procedures.
(1) Delete Superuser's update and clear data.
(2) Reinstall update.
(3) Enable 'Auto-rotate screen' on the Display settings.
(4) Change the screen to the portrait mode.
(5) Run Superuser and allow permission to update its own.
I solved a same problem in this procedure.

Yeah this is what worked for me in the end. its a bit fiddley though isnt it. Oh well sorted now at least. Maybe this should be added to the rooting thread.
Have you noticed that you can move apps to the sd in manage applications. It seems that some people have been supprised that it does it.

isn't the option to move apps to sd in manage applications a feature way back in froyo?
Superuser crashed on me first time with every app that asked, either the button was cropped so rotating shows true button, or it worked fine after a reboot.

I would like to install the latest version ARHD7.1, does it include Beats??
Or I need to refresh the ARHD 6.8.0 XE with beats first??
From Below reference, we shall saw the Beats animation during phone reboot after installation.
it that valid?? I saw it from youtube
yes, 7.1 includes beats audio
Not sure if it still works. But try adding Darkforest tweaks. You will then have more equalizers.
If you are a fan of mobile movies, it will suit you too. Using Dolby Mobile to watch movies

check if there's an app called Superuser on your phone. If so, you're rooted.
Also, Beats Audio in ARHD is a headphone-only audio enhancer. the icon won't apear if you play music over the phone speaker.

check the superuser app settings and such. You need to give other apps, like batterycal, permissions to gain root acces with superuser. If they don't get permission they can't launch/check for root.
Any custom ROM on this board is pre-rooted so I doubt that you're not rooted. if you're somehow not rooted I suggest checking http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1716955 for root tools from ganesh or 1.27 hboot root.
I'm not familiar with the play store issue you might wanna check the ARHD thread to see if a similiar issue is adressed there.
you can install a different ROM to adres both problems; see if it solves your playstore problem and since custom roms are pre-rooted, to see if you get root acces (suppose you somehow don't have it now)
try this zip from recovery
http://download.chainfire.eu/315/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.25.zip
then check if you have root access
the play store issue is common with ARHD. i was able to get rid of it by just rebooting. others have suggested to clear app data in settings>apps>all
Thanks All. My phone was rooted eventually.
Just the Root Checker was not granted the Root Access therefore it was failed to verify.

glad to help and good to hear you're okay now
I was tired of our stock equalizer and yes I know there' s many available on the play store, paid or free.
So I went on my usual hunt and found my favorite equalizer Thanks To Awesome
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728391
You must be rooted ( sorry )
Flash in recovery, its an aroma installer , so use your power button to except and the sound button to move and select (yes Aroma installers work with our recovery)
You will also need busybox installed which can be found in the play store
Also required is terminal, which is required to finish the installation after you reboot your phone
I selected the stock ROM and let it run, it took awhile to fix permission and I couldn't wait as I need some shut eye, so I rebooted. All went well, I would wait for it to complete the fix permissions part ( its really slow so be prepared)
After installation open terminal and type su and hit enter, know type awesome and enter, you should awesome beats being installed except build prop mods, after its finished type reboot and hit enter at thus point your phone will reboot and you will see awesome beats app in your app drawer
NOTE: PLEASE PICK THE STOCK ROM as our ROM is odex, also do a nandroid prior to flashing anything, it went well for me but you never know
Sent On my Rooted Moto X
Is it just a fully adjustable EQ (think stock isn't fully adjustable, just presets right?), or does it include libs and sound optimizations? Wondering if "Pimp my ROM" Sony enhancements work, or the BEATS EQ? Those seemed to work pretty damn good on my 3VO.
Fully adjustable equalizer, its a variation if dsp manager, just delete music fx or freeze it prior to flashing awesome beats, evo 3d mine died finally but I had to stick with the yahoos in the gsm threads. Oh I miss the us against anthrax fights

Cool beans! My 3D just died 2 days ago, screen was cracked, digitizer was doing what it wanted, basically holding it's last breath.

Will this work if you're using pwnmymoto as the root method? I don't think we can get into recovery...can this be pushed with ABD or the like?
Thanks!

No it has a aroma installer so you have to flash it through recovery only, the only other way to install it, but its tedious, is to manually put all the required libs, apps etc into there respective folders

I wrote out a small script that will do this, by no means is the script accurate or well written out but it does seem to be working. I may make an actual install script that can be used on jcase root method for vzw and at&t
I should probably check to make sure it installed it correctly with correct permissions. There is a .sh script that fixes tons of permissions on the device .

Cool, you need busy box installed possible? After installation you have to use terminal emulator to activate it, but this could be risky for you guys from what I understand or maybe I'm wrong. Let me know how it works and I could add it to the op

Using the script don't have to run the terminal command does that all for you. It's running on my phone I can tell the difference. Pretty sure it installed correctly.
Just need to make sure you are in the correct mode before hand. I think I just might finish the script out to have it install and check system write

As you may know, Google has remove App Ops on Android 4.4.2. This app helps you to bring it back
Root device only for now
What is App Ops
App Ops is an activity, within the Settings app, that allows users to enable or disable operations on a per-app basis. These operations cover many common scenarios identified by permissions (e.g., read contacts, write contacts, access location), though it is not a pure one-to-one mapping.
Operations blocked by App Ops are inaccessible by the affected app, though that may vary by device.
Toggle-able permissions
- Access notifications
- Alarm volume
- Audio focus
- Bluetooth volume
- Call phone
- Camera
- Draw on top
- Keep awake
- Location
- Master volume
- Media buttons
- Media volume
- Modify calendar
- Modify call log
- Modify clipboard
- Modify contacts
- Modify settings
- Notification volume
- Play audio
- Post notification
- Read calendar
- Read call log
- Read clipboard
- Read contacts
- Read SMS/MMS
- Receive SMS/MMS
- Record audio
- Ring volume
- Send SMS/MMS
- Vibrate
- Voice volume
- Write SMS/MMS

Any feedback, report, please leave your comment.
Change logs
Ver 1.1

- Add update AppOps
- Fixed minor bugs
- Refine permission list
Ver 1.0
- Initial release
It's weird that this thread has no activity.. it's a proper mod tbh.
After clicking to "Install AppOps Root", the device reboots, but nothing seems to change. Starting the Installer again still shows the same message: "Click to install AppOps Root..."
If I click "Launch Stock App Ops", I see Settings that promptly closes.

What am I missing?

Not for me.
I have run through installation twice and didn't see any errors.
I just got prompted to d/l new firmware for my note 3 today. and after hearing they took this out. I declined it! keeping an eye on this, hopefully there will be a way to bring this back for non rooted devices. as my phone is only 2 months old. and I wana wait 4-6 months to make sure its not faulty B4 I go rooting it. plus there arent enough stable ROMS for note 3 anyway. I like Wanam as its stock ish without bloat. so waiting for wanam!

Im using CM11.0 and the phone reboots after I click "Install AppOps Root" but seems to work fine with the "Lauch Stock AppOps" option.

It only installs one apk in /system/priv-app/
If you are rooted and have titanium backup or other toolbox you can easily uninstall it (titanium can uninstall system apps); second easiest option is to use ES File Explorer or other root file manager; other ways include adb shell commands (mount / rm), and finally another method that actually doesn't require root is via custom recovery that has a builtin file manager like twrp does... you would mount /system and delete the apk from /system/priv-app

How does this compare to the likes of XPrivacy. It appears this completely denies the permission which would cause certain apps to crash vs providing random false data.

XPrivacy is way more powerful and allows you to revoke many more permissions, but App Ops although limited, works quite well. You cannot remove network access with it, but I removed location, contacts, vibrate, camera, from some apps, and none crashed so far. I've been using App Ops since it was introduced in Jelly Bean, and still do in KitKat.

Hi all, I've had quite a few issues with Viper4android, including extreme battery drain (since installing my phone will drain from 80% to 0% overnight with no use), and inconsistent volume in various apps (Spotify only has about 60% volume output with random bursts to 100%).
How can I remove all of its components and revert back to stock? I'm guessing it's more involved than just reflashing the stock rom, perhaps I need radio files + others too
My phone is a Samsung s6 edge plus (SM-G928i).
Thank you all, and apologies if this is in the wrong place!

All you have to do is hit the menu button/3 dot icons>uninstall drivers>reboot. And you're done.

How can I remove all of its components and revert back to stock? I'm guessing it's more involved than just reflashing the stock rom, perhaps I need radio files + others too
My phone is a Samsung s6 edge plus (SM-G928i).
Thank you all, and apologies if this is in the wrong place!

This just removes the drivers, uninstalling the app after removing drivers and re-enabling your stock audio(if you had to remove/disable it), this should put you back to stock.

Actually, its much easier than reflashing your ROM (though that would work fine too)
All you have to do is hit the menu button/3 dot icons>uninstall drivers>reboot. And you're done.

Excuse my ignorance but could you tell me how to re-enable my stock audio? I get the feeling this was removed during the installation process

By extracting a copy of the audioFX apk from your stock firmware
Or
By extracting it from a nandroid backup if you have one
Or
Find someone with your device and have them upload a copy of it.
Or
Find a copy with a Google search for:
"Audiofx.apk(or whatever the stock audio is called on your device) for (your model number and firmware version)
FYI, you would have had to manually remove or disable your stock audio yourself. It wouldn't have happened automatically, so if you yourself didn't remove/disable it then you probably don't have anything to worry about.

Did you flash V4A via recovery? Or did you install the app manually?
If you don't see the stock Equalizer in your app drawer then it was probably removed during installation of V4A (when done via recovery) but if it was installed manually then the equalizer app should still be installed/visible in your app drawer. All you have to do is open the app and toggle the on/off button.
If the app was removed though, you'll have to reflash your ROM to get it back.
NB 1. If stock EQ was already enabled, you might wanna disable it and give V4A another shot. As I've personally experienced issues with both of them enabled.
NB 2. Uninstalling the drivers practically kills the app. But you can go ahead and uninstall it as recommended by @Droidriven

I flashed a recovery file for it. So I might just take the easy route and reflash my rom I might give it another crack when I get my new phone in April / May!

Yep, my installations on all devices I've had have been via app which required me manually removing/disabling stock audio.
I've encountered installations on some devices that required using terminal emulator or adb shell to implement correctly, slightly tricky stuff that I don't remember the details for.

I'm guessing your stock EQ was deleted then.
Just flash your ROM and you should be fine. Keep in mind though that any other additions/modifications you made to your system partition will be overwritten.
Uninstall Flashed App - Viper4Android
Hey folks,
I am new to xda and so this question might not be appropriate for this particular thread -- I don't know, I guess I'll take my chance. So, upon rooting my android device last week I went ahead and downloaded the Viper4Android audio enhancer as a zip, and installed it through the TWRP recovery terminal. This flashed the app on the phone drive. However, the Viper4Android driver is not installing properly and all my attempts to fix that are going in vain, thus I think the best solution is to uninstall the app and install a new package following a specific xda thread instructions to the letter. So my question is how do I uninstall a flashed app? I can't seem to find the app folder when the installation files are located. The app is present in my app menu. I am a root user and have directory apps like Root Explorer, Magisk Manager, BusyBox, RomToolbox etc. Btw, I've read most of this thread, and it mainly discusses the removal of the drivers. (Which I presume never installed in my phone anyways, as Viper4Android never worked -- hence why I am looking to uninstall the whole thing, and try anew). I have a Moto g5 plus.
How should I proceed? What's the best tool to uninstall a flashed Viper4Android App?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
