could i install at&t gs3 room on partialy unlocked verizon gs3 ?! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello .....
As in the title .... I'm from Egypt .... I bought a unlocked Verizon gs3 except for SMS sending " I can receive only SMS " , service codes ..... But every thing else is working .....
Could I flash an at&t based room to obtain gsm options only not mixed with CDMA !!
I know it has different radio signales ... But 3g or edge are useless to me ... I want to fix the SMS , code service more than them ...
1- Could I do so or it will brake my gs3 !!
2- I don't know the method of unlocking !! Is there any way to complete the unlocking !?

Most ROMs have a check in the updater script that checks if the ROM you are flashing matches your version of the S3. Besides I'm pretty sure you would brick. I know for a fact you would brick if you flashed an AT&T S3 kernel on your VZW S3.

Thanks for the fast reply ....^_^
So ..... Any way to fix the SMS issue ?! .... I know there r APN's for WAP & MMS , is there one for SMS olso ?!

Sorry i am work and forgot about this thread :/. Unfortunately that is out of my expertise. Hopefully someone will post soon that could help you better than i could.

When I had at&t, and was using a verizon s3 I flashed a At&t Version oc Cm10 and it worked. It only got edge speeds. But it worked. I have not tried any other rom. This was about 8mos ago.
Data/mms/sms all worked. I'm now on verizon so no longer need to do that..

You can flash it and it will work but it's not a great idea. There is a lot of code that is specific to carriers in framework. Jar and framework2.jar. If you do flak this you will be pinging off of the wrong towers and I'm sure the caskets will not be too happy with that. This could be one reason why they are making it more difficult to unlock bootloader now a days. That's other than the fact that they are greedy money hungry control freaks.

[Q] Best radio version for using oversea ?

Hi,
I am using AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket in Viet Nam, not in USA, because i like the way this Skyrocket phone design so i ask some of my friend bought one for me from US. But i got som problem with this phone when using in my 3G network carrier Mobifone , 3G data connection sometime lost and sometime good . So anyone have exprience with this kind of thing ? What radio version i should use between :
Original Shipped AT&T Skyrocket Radio I727ATTKJ2 and RIL
Original Shipped Rogers I727RUXKJ7 Radio and RIL
AT&T 2.3.6 OTA Update Radio I727ATTKK1 and RIL
T-Mobile T989UVKL1
in this topic : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384865
Best regards,
I've seen about oversea(europe) thread.
Please refer it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377114
But I've one question.
Does your Skyrocket gps fix time is fast in your vietnam country?
Normally gps lock time is about 5~10 sec.
because, I will purchase skyrocket, but some of phones are using agps surver using
their own country.(for example, T-mobile G2x using T-mobile a-gps server,
So it will cause gps fix laggy)

GPS fix super fast here. If the weather good it make take just a few second. I am trying flash T989 rom to see if anything better.
you're welcome.
I think overseas users make a thread.
Isn't it? hehe
I am very very wodner that compatibility to
AT&T ROM(727) , Rogers ROM(727R), T-mobile ROM(989) all models?
For example, I will use to Odin.
* If I have a i727 ATT Device,
1) flash to i727R ? not bricked?
2) flash to i989 ? not bricked?
If I get a i727 ATT device, I will flash i727 Rogers ROM.
Because AT&T have many pre-load apks. And too many customizing.

i flash the Juggernaut rom from T989 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322642 but it look like 3G data connection not so good.
I flash to NeXusM0Di727 here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426590 and so far everything work great. Very good rom
Thanks for very useful information.

Solution for AT&T HTC ONE X Signal Dropping Issue / cellular network problem / data

Solution for AT&T HTC ONE X Signal Dropping Issue / cellular network problem / data
Solution for AT&T HTC ONE X Signal Dropping Issue / cellular network problem / data
Hi guys am new to this forum and English is not my native language .
I dont know whether this is a proper section to post this kind of thread .
If this is in wrong section I request MODS to shift it to appropriate section .
This worked only for my AT&T HTC ONE X version , and its 100% confirmed .
I was searching for this solution from almost 3 weeks on XDA , and found that am not the only one . Many were having this problem .
Just update it to latest available firmware 4.0.4 which got released on 2-AUG-2012 .
My both cellphones which were unlocked and was on other networks . Was giving frequent signal drops , fluctuation , going complete DEAD
I flashed many radios and even the latest radio which was in 4.0.4 didnt work .
So I came into conclusion that flashing radio wont solve this problem , its only myth .
For updating/restoring it to latest 4.0.4 , Your phone bootloader should be locked . No problem if its rooted .
===========================================
1) Online update through phone itself
goto settings > AT&T software update > Check for updates
and follow the easy instructions .
===========================================
2) Manual update through computer
Make sure u have downloaded the HTC SYNC MANAGER and required HTC Drivers
http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/
The below file size is 568MB , and its a executable .exe file .
After downloading open the file and follow the instructions . 30-35% battery is necessary to flash the ROM
Firmware official link:
LINK 1 : http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_one_x_RUU_2.20.502.7_att_us_08022012.exe
LINK 2 : http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-x-att/software-updates
===========================================
Now my both phones are working properly
===========================================
Am not responsible if anything happens during this process with your phone .

I'm gonna try. Getting no LTE signal at home so total useless 4G LTE... I only get HSPA+

Agreed basically the OP is telling us to go back to stock OEM version of the OS.
2nd why are you posting this in the dev board?
It would be better to be in the Q&A section.
I haven't seen this as a widespread issue at all and certainly not one that I have experienced.
I can tell you that here in the Phoenix area that I get great reception, fantastic LTE speeds, and I am running the Telstra radio 223 with the stock new rom, unlocked and Boot loader unlocked

Mine also 900$ was stuck as phone were useless , its horrible if there is no network in the phone .

Don't forget that if you don't have superCID when you do this, you will lose the ability to root until a root exploit for 2.20 is released.
Even i am having the same problem, i have download the ruu but my doubt is i have super cid111111 on my phone, so will ruu work perfectly or do i have to revert it back to stock cid? If yes then what is the procedure to revert back the stock cid?
Sorry for bad english as it is not my native language.

Super cid allows you to flash any ruu as long as it is not a lower version ruu and hboot than you currently have. You should be warned that flashing the 2.20 ruu with the updated hboot will break the ability to flash boot.img radios and kernels from recovery. You will have to use fastboot from your pc to flash them.

I have had this problem for probably about 6months now, it's ridiculous. I have tried everything, Factory Reset, flashing stock RUU, everything, wipes, radios and custom ROMs, nothing seemed to work. When I flashed RUU, I think it was ok for a little while, but as time went on, I got more and more signal drops.
When I first read triksense's comment, I thought he had no idea what he was talking about, maybe he just had poor reception. Regardless, I was willing to try anything, so i installed the free version of Network Signal Booster from the Market. It has been 2 days now, and I have not had a single signal drop since running this app. It would be nice to not require a 3rd party app installed to make my phone run smoothly, especially an app that I don't really know what it is doing exactly.
Anyways, to anyone with this issue (are there really not more? Did they just give up and go to Samsung?), I am the second person now that can recommend this app, Network Speed Booster from the Market, to fix the signal drop issues.
Thanks for the suggestion triksense!

MMS issues with Telstra HTC One XL

Hi
I have purchased a new HTC One XL from Telstra outright but i cant get the MMS to work because Im using a different provider (Optus).
I wanted to know if anyone has had this issue or do i have to install a new rom ? or Can i install the Asia 2.23 Rom (I havent unlocked the bootloader or supercid )
Thanks for your help
First of all congratulations.
Secondly you haven't mentioned if you've changed the APN settings to match Optus?
Go to settings, mobile network, access point names.
Make sure they're correct first.
You can find it at this link; http://ausdroid.net/apns/

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yeah I matched the setting from the Ausdroid site it didn’t work , then i called Optus few time and they were unable to help me as well.
Basically i ran out of options , and was thinking it may be a rom issue i think.

To the OP: Did you manage to get your MMS to work? I just got this phone and am with Virgin who use the same settings as Optus because it uses the Optus network.
I have tried every single APN for virgin and Optus and it still has not worked. I get 1 bar in 4G in Sydney and no MMS.
Spent days with tech support who told me that there was nothing else that they could do. All we did was trying to change APNS.
Would a different rom, ruu or any mods improve perfomrance?

Verizon Galaxy SIII in Portugal

Hi guys,
So I know it is super specific but I was wondering if anyone has used their Verizon GSIII in Portugal. I know theoretically it should work but I was looking through this thread and noticed that user Beemer533 wasn't able to get SMS and data to work even though he has used the same method in many other countries. Do you think the new update that Verizon launched a while ago should have fixed it? I know Beemer533's problem was before that update.
Thanks so much!
It should work fine, use a custom touchwiz rom though, if you are gonna be stock then you dont be able to get Data working

I'm using CleanROM V6. That should work, yeah?
Also, I just wanna be absolutely sure, should this work by just putting in the sim card or should I still use the method described in the OP of that thread I linked?
Thanks again!

Tomorrow i go buy a cousin this exact model...
I read all the posts and my question is simples. This Verizon model works in Portugal with GSM to make calls and sem text messages, and with 3G?
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to say but I will be arriving in Lisboa on Monday, I will let you know if I get it working!
I am here in Lisbon now and voice, sms, and data are working perfectly. This is with the latest CleanROM R6 based on Jelly Bean. I believe you need a custom ROM like this to get data to work properly.

Did you automatically get the APN? or have to install a apn manager app?
Before I arrived I did install an APN manager app and I put into it all the possible APN's that Vodafone might use. But when I put in the SIM card it picked it up right away without me having to go into the app or anything. So I think the APN manager is not needed, but you may want to set it up before hand just to be safe.
Cheers!

Yes the hardware is the same so go ahead and brick your phone. You fail to comprehend the fact the ROM has to be ported for us cellular for it to actually work.

Sorry I didn't get what u mean
I want flash a Verizon ROM onto the US Cellular Galaxy S3 , Is it will working coz it same hardware
The fact it is the same hardware doesn't change the fact that you have to alter the software/ROM to work on another carrier. That is where porting comes in and lucky for you there are some ROMs here that are multiple carrier ROMs .
I am going to try this rom Galaxy S3 Verizon (I535VRBLK3) for my phone
You are still not getting it. It will not work it is meant for those with Verizon as their cell phone carrier. Plus it is stock version not a ported custom ROM meaning it isn't altered and made to work on another carrier. Let me put it in caps "DON't FLASH IT AS IT WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE" I hope you got that. See you are on US Cellular and must flash ROMs for that carrier so you can't flash the ROM you want to flash but that same ROM I can flash because I HAVE VERIZON so i won't f**k up my phone.

My pet peeve is having to repeat myself which makes me angry despite being a mellow person. I just got through blowing the heads of zombies in Dead Island so I am back to being mellow. You will have to SIM unlock your phone if you're going overseas and insert a Verizon SIM card onto your phone.
Im gonna try to tackle this in a certain way:
There is a thing in mobile phones called firmware. It is like a combo of hardware and software. One thing it allows is software updates to how the hardware works. You know how you can update your bios on your desktop computer? This is a firmware update.
The firmware on US Cellular and Verizon versions of our phone are different. When you flash a verizon rom to your phone, it writes information to the firmware in a way that verizon phones are designed to work with. The US cellular firmware is different, so flashing a verizon rom on your phone will corrupt the firmware and make your phone dead.
Basically, even though the hardware is the same, the part that updates the code within the hardware is different, and verizon roms are not compatible with us cellular roms for this reason.
You can only flash roms designed specifically for US cellular phones. Some roms on the forum have the tag D2USC. These roms will work with your phone.

Just go into the development section and download Axis. Make sure that you root your phone, unlock your bootloader, make a nandroid of your current image, back up your IMEI, and choose US Cellular in the options screen for carrier. You will then have flashed a custom ROM to your phone.
READ everything about all of the steps and UNDERSTAND what you are doing before you start or you will brick your phone!

Darkhlmt I'm not sure what you're looking for, but I know people with the Canadian variants can edit their build prop to accept d2att ROMs, but they share model numbers (Canadians add an m at the end)
APAs, there are a few ROMs compatible between vzw and USC and I mean few. You're better off hitting the forums at teamuscellular.com for your device, rather than risking bricking your phone
