Yes the hardware is the same so go ahead and brick your phone. You fail to comprehend the fact the ROM has to be ported for us cellular for it to actually work.

Sorry I didn't get what u mean
I want flash a Verizon ROM onto the US Cellular Galaxy S3 , Is it will working coz it same hardware
The fact it is the same hardware doesn't change the fact that you have to alter the software/ROM to work on another carrier. That is where porting comes in and lucky for you there are some ROMs here that are multiple carrier ROMs .
I am going to try this rom Galaxy S3 Verizon (I535VRBLK3) for my phone
You are still not getting it. It will not work it is meant for those with Verizon as their cell phone carrier. Plus it is stock version not a ported custom ROM meaning it isn't altered and made to work on another carrier. Let me put it in caps "DON't FLASH IT AS IT WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE" I hope you got that. See you are on US Cellular and must flash ROMs for that carrier so you can't flash the ROM you want to flash but that same ROM I can flash because I HAVE VERIZON so i won't f**k up my phone.

In all 3 of my posts I stated that it won't work and why it won't work and yet you are still asking the same question. Either you are trolling the site or you are really are lacking intelligence as I stated that it won't work and it doesn't help that your posts make you sound like English is your second language. If you are using it outside the US then a different ROM won't help you but unlocking the SIM card can.

Yeah, you posted 4 different times in 4 different ways he shouldn't flash the VZW ROM, and he still wasn't getting it. So I spelled it out as plain and simple as possible. I figured like you did he is either trolling or English is a second language, or not even a second language. I also figured with as many times as you responded, you might actually bypass the bottle of scotch and go straight to hitting yourself over the head with a hammer
Sorry to make u angry
I just looking for way to use my phone
Because I can use Verizon for GSM in my country but US Cellular I can't
I was thinking like that because both of them has same hardware
Sorry again
My pet peeve is having to repeat myself which makes me angry despite being a mellow person. I just got through blowing the heads of zombies in Dead Island so I am back to being mellow. You will have to SIM unlock your phone if you're going overseas and insert a Verizon SIM card onto your phone.
Im gonna try to tackle this in a certain way:
There is a thing in mobile phones called firmware. It is like a combo of hardware and software. One thing it allows is software updates to how the hardware works. You know how you can update your bios on your desktop computer? This is a firmware update.
The firmware on US Cellular and Verizon versions of our phone are different. When you flash a verizon rom to your phone, it writes information to the firmware in a way that verizon phones are designed to work with. The US cellular firmware is different, so flashing a verizon rom on your phone will corrupt the firmware and make your phone dead.
Basically, even though the hardware is the same, the part that updates the code within the hardware is different, and verizon roms are not compatible with us cellular roms for this reason.
You can only flash roms designed specifically for US cellular phones. Some roms on the forum have the tag D2USC. These roms will work with your phone.

I will also add that ROMs that are multi-carrier compatible are compatible with US Cellular just make sure you choose your current carrier.
Thanks sfetaz for elucidation
So is there any ROM Supports GSM & CDMA as ROM Verizon , Can I use it with US Cellular
Just go into the development section and download Axis. Make sure that you root your phone, unlock your bootloader, make a nandroid of your current image, back up your IMEI, and choose US Cellular in the options screen for carrier. You will then have flashed a custom ROM to your phone.
READ everything about all of the steps and UNDERSTAND what you are doing before you start or you will brick your phone!

Okay, just happened across this line of interesting conversation. But, I do have a question. Is there any way to change a phones firmware to allow it to expect another carriers ROM or is that simply a pipe dream?
This is strictly a mental excersize....
Thanks,

Darkhlmt I'm not sure what you're looking for, but I know people with the Canadian variants can edit their build prop to accept d2att ROMs, but they share model numbers (Canadians add an m at the end)
APAs, there are a few ROMs compatible between vzw and USC and I mean few. You're better off hitting the forums at teamuscellular.com for your device, rather than risking bricking your phone

i want new phone unlocked because my g1 is slow but i was curious if there was a way to know if the chinese android phone is flashable and using which rom? and which is a good phone to buy ...
bumpppppp/
It hasn't even been 3 hours, there's no need for a bump. Also I don't think those cheap knockoffs can be flashed but it's possible. First you have to root it though which is probably possible with one of the "one-click root" apps. Actually flashing one is a bit more involved because of hardware differences. Next time just get the real phone instead of a knockoff, save yourself some headache and heartache at not being able to do everything you want.
i actually have a g1 thank you very much handsome
Well then take out the "next time"s from my previous post and I stick by it. Knockoffs generally aren't that great. Getting the real version from a store is better, even craigslist or ebay.
I rooted my galaxy note replica with bin4ry it worked perfectly as for flashing i have flashed a few things but to flash a rom it would be harder because i have found out i would have to port the custom rom to work with my device.

What did I miss? Why the assumption that the OP is talking about a "cheap knock-off". Maybe he means a Huawei, or ZTE or something.
Rooting android from China
Ok, i don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but i'm desperate. I want to flash my phone that i recently bought in China, but i'm getting no where. The problem is that i can't find recovery mod that will work on my phone. If someone have any idea what recovery mod should i try, please suggest it to me.
I'm using Samsung Galaxy Style Duos I-8262D.

It will depend on the device you have. You should search xda for your device name, but if it is a cloned device, you may not be able to find anything, because some clones are not well supported.
So I'm hearing that the international version and the US T-Mo version are different, and it's easy to brick the T-Mo version if you use the intl guide for rooting.
Can someone please be clear about what needs to be done for rooting the T-Mo variant? This is serious business, messing with a brand new phone on a 2 yr contract.

Anyone know how to root the T-Mo HTC One S yet?
Personally, I'm not looking to install ROMs, I just want root, so I can use Titanium to back up apps and appdata and maybe a couple of other things that require root.

Same here. I'm not ready for ROMs quite yet, despite coming from daily flashes of CM9/AOKP on my Nexus S, but I'd sure as hell like to get root and get rid of all this godawful T-Mo bloatware, at the very least.
how can using root for international version brick the tmobile version ??
its not possible, the only way you brick your phone is by not following the instructions

I read a post in the developer section where someone said it was a different process. Maybe a bit more clarification is all we need. Coming from a T989 if I tried to use an international root method this would not go so good..
I just got my t-mobile one s.. Unlocked bootloader- flashed the recovery- then installed su... No problems.
I'm wondering the same. How different is different? I got the GSII for tmobile and buyers remorsed when I quickly realized there was hardly any rom support because of how different it was from the International version. I'm coming from the Vibrant community where variants were heavy but most things were relatively similar in the end. This makes me wonder if each different One S needs its own thread like the Galaxy S series.

I think you must have read something different. It's absolutely not any easier to brick the T-mo version. You must be mistaken. It's actually hard to brick (as in impossible to recover) a phone if your not messing with the radio.

You just have to follow the guides.
Unlock the bootloader using this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604677
After that I used the superboot file found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577831
Now your phones rooted.
If you want to install a custom recovery I could only get the "Interim Touch (Custom CWM)" found in the all in one tool to stick.
there is a cwm touch for the samsung galaxy s3 on the official rom manaager page but it doesnt say anything like tmobile, international, sprint, etc. so i was wondering if i could install it on the tmobile s3 or would it hard brick my device? i hope some one can answer my question. i have been asking in different places and searching and havent found an answer. thanks and i hope i get an answer soon :silly:
yes u can install

Hello
I was wondering if I could flash galaxy S 3 international version with any carrier specific custom rom like Verizon /at&t etc and vice versa. I see there are many ROMs which aren't available for international variant but for some carrier.
I know there must be some carrier differences and little other small security patches, but does that mean I can use any ROM or I would face problems like glitches/soft brick etc?
I know in Sony, HTC it is not a problem but how about Samsung ?

I wouldn't even attempt to flash a rom that's meant for a Verizon phone for an international S3. The phones are similar yes but they are different in so many ways. You could hard brick your phone if you attempt to flash a rom that's not meant for your phone

There are a few good threads on XDA for porting roms. Porting between Verizon and international shouldn't take to long. As long as you stay in the s3 family most of the porting is copy past stuff.

As far as I know, the SM-G900P is the US variant. That might be why youre having issues with service. There is an international variant of the the S5 I believe. You could try an international ROM. I've never used one and don't plan on it, so do your homework. Thats a hard one. Maybe someone else will chime in. This should probably be posted in the "General Discussion Forum" though, not to mention if it was youd probably get more help. Just saying. I don't think this is the forum for you.

Thanks for chimming in. As I said, I've never used an international ROM, so I really couldn't tell you where to find one. However, I know @jrkruse has a bunch of stuff concerning those types of ROMs. I'm pretty sure I've seen posts by him concerning international ROMs. I may be wrong. I would imagine though, that if you are using a US variant of the S5, regardless of what ROM your using, you will still have issues with connections being slow simply because youre not located in the US, where the phone is meant to be used. I could be WAY off, but thats just my guess. Check out @jrkruse, I'm sure youll find something to play around with.
