[Q] Android Headunit bootloop problem - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I have a problem that i hope someone can help me with as it is driving me insane!
I recently installed a new car stereo which built specifically for the bmw e46 3 series. What attracted me was that it has great feature including the android4.0 operating system through which the satnav works and of course any apps. About 2 weeks ago, the android side has been perpetually stuck in a bootloop. Essentially, when i switch the unit on, the android side gets as far as the 'android' splash screen and then just hangs there.
I have read up on boot loops and realise that i have to get the android side of the unit into recovery however here lies the problem. It seems that you usually have to push a number of button combinations on your hardware device to achieve this usually including the power button and the + or - volume button. However on this device, the volume and power are combined and the volume is a rotary dial you turn right or left to go up or down instead of buttons to push.
Is there any way anyone can tell me that might get me into recovery mode?? or alternatively a way i can re-install android 4.0? on the front of the unit there are 2 SD card slots one for media and the other i believe is connected to the android side as that is where the maps are stored. Would it be possible to re-install android using the sd card or perhaps gain access to recovery mode through it?

Any ideas anybody?

Same problem
Hey buddy i got the same. Issue. Was there a solution?

[Q] Stuck In System Recovery <3e> + a twist

Hi guys, I don't know if there are similar threads within this section, and have decided to post this thread. It has been long since I have touched my i9003, having migrated to the i9000 itself.
Anyway, here's the thing. This phone got submerged about a year ago in the water (due to my brother's stupidity) and the camera did not function anymore as well as the home button. To make things worse, the phone's warranty was already over when it happened. Back then I was tinkering with using ADB and Odin in order to flash custom ROMs and whatnot, then suddenly, I seemed to have pressed a wrong button of sorts during one of the flashing processes and it landed me on the Android system recovery <3e> screen. Now normally, this would be relatively easy with a working home button, because it would be just a simple press to freedom, but of course, as I have stated before, the button was broken.
I tried at first using ADB, but the PC didn't pickup the device/didn't recognize it. It's also recognized as a CDC Abstract Control Model and not the usual standard USB recognition.
Given the circumstances, would it still be possible to recover and reboot back to at least the home screen?

Just hold the power button till the phone's screen dims out, phone should reboot into Android.
I forgot to state that every time I reboot it via long pressing the power button, it immediately goes to the 3e Recovery.

[Q] Question! Permanent Car Dashboard Project.

Hello Gentelmen,
I am rather new to android dev but seassoned in linux, i decided to convert my old phone (samsung admire) into an in dash computer.
I am using two basic applications:
* Torque OBD2 Connector: This connects to the car's OBD2 Port, reads the computer and displays information on screen (like HP, Torque, Manifold Pressure and temp, Boost ...... )
* Autoguard Blackbox: This app acts as a CCTV recorder taping my driving and saves it in case of accident so i can have video evidence.
I have modified the andoid system to open both applications on boot and on external power and to kill them when external power has been disconected. Also when external power is disconected phone will wait 5 minutes then go to sleep. (yes i realize there are apps for that but i like shellscript)
This means that when the key is turned and the car is on recording automatically begins and my gauges come up, when the car is off they close AND STOP RECORDING and go away without any kind of interaction on my part.
The problem: Whenever the car turns back on, external power is connected and i would like to have the phone do a full boot so that my scripts kick in,however instead it goes into charge only mode where it boots in to some kind of "hybernation state" that only displays the battery charge in the middle of the screen.
I would like to bypass this and have the phone do a full boot whenever the power is connected.
I have searched for weeks and have found nothing but people withthe same problem and solutions that involve harware and wiring and soidering however this is not an option for me because the phoen is exposed (not actualy insidethe dashboard)
I am not afraid to compile a custom rom and have it run on the phone ... the phoen is solely for the propose of having the dashboard display. (i dont use it for calling)
Could you guys point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.
(some pictures attached for reference)
Edit: See this link for reference ... some one in the same kind of predcament.

[Q] Recovery mode for Kurio 7S

Hello, I have read a good amount of threads on this site, most have proved helpful in my problems, yet at this time I have not found any thread similar to my needs.
I have a Kurio 7S that needs fixing, it is stuck in a bootloop, I would use the recovery mode to reboot it or reset it if need be, but the power button had stopped working a few days after I had gotten it, we had used the usb port and reset button to turn it on. Now though, none of that is helpful.
I wanted to know if there was a way to use a computer program to open up recovery mode and install a rom, can Android Multi Tool accomplish this?
Not that I've found, but it does seem these cheap tabs have that issue.
The two my nephew's had both had that issue.
I have three press the power button close to the front edge, first plug it in a big of a charge, any different charging cables to rule out bad, and just try listening the plastic to press in you should hear the soft click of the button when it meets up.

Bricked Witson PX3 MTCD >>Solved<<

Do you know how can I enter recovery / reinstall firmware on a Winston PX3 without any buttons? just reset.
The unit is made of Opel Insignia and uses the car button. The power power button only switches the screen on / off and nothing more.
Is stuck at the lollipop logo without anything else.
I tried all the method here... reset, keyboard without any luck
RK tools not working since is not seen by the laptop
Bootable SD, same... no luck.
Thanks in advance
I also want to know that, never find solutions at this time.
I have same car with same head unit, do you have a good radio reception?
Read here and tell us if it works ... on my witson px3 android 5.1.1 works this procedure to enter in recovery... good lock

Solved after taking out the unit.
The trick with power button does not work since on Insignia access to the power radio buttons is via canbus interface. Power button only switches screen on and off when not in Android... nothing more.
So solution:
Is easier if the unit is not mounted in the car, I have not tried to enter recovery after a reset, but maybe I will try sometime.
1. Disconnected all power from the unit... ACC & BAT disconnected
2. Prepared 12V power supply with on negative and two positive connectors
3. Connected negative to GND & one positive to BAT
4. Connected USB keyboard
5. Press right ALT (ALT GR on some keyboards) and PrintScreen
6. Connected the other positive lead to ACC (unit does not work if both BAT and ACC are not connected)
6a. Start pressing repeatedly on E (not holding E pressed, but press...release... press... release..... rapidly)
7. The boot logo shows (Lollipop...etc) and after a few seconds the unit reboots itself
8. Release right CTRL & PrintScreen and continue to repeatedly press on E.
9. The Recovery shows on screen.
Sweet success at last.
I put a USB stick with Hal9k room and selected install from USB and clean... waited for 15-20 minutes and everything fine.
Mounted the unit in the car after switching to MicroG and configuring apps.
Hope this helps others who have problems getting into recovery.

Hi,
Found solution, described in the previous post.
Reception is good. I had also a power amplifier mounted but did not improve reception futher so got rid of it.
Hal9k ROM with MicroG is much faster than stock one.

After deleting all apps my phone does not work anymore

So first of all I have a S5 neo which I have rooted. I wanted to achieve that there is no way to access the data on the phone without physical access to it.
So I have everything with Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, LTE, UMTS or GSM unsoldered from the motherboard. It worked except for the problem that the phone only started in safe mode so I could not use my own apps.
First I updated Lineageos from the official 17.1 to the unofficial version 18.1 with this ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...1-0-0_r49-lineageos-18-1-28-nov-2021.4292703/ .
Which in itself worked but it still starts in safe mode even when setting up.
Then I had the idea to uninstall system apps via TWRP. Since probably because of the missing components a system app throws errors why it goes into safe mode. So in TWRP via advanced -> file manage in system gone and have thought in my infinite wisdom, since I do not know if it repairt I remove all apps, if it solves my problem I can narrow it down later which app exactly. So first priv app and app folder completely solved.
Now to my current point of view. It does not boot into Lineageos (who could have imagined that XD). So it comes as far as in the boot animation (green curved line where always a circle moves from right to left).
When I try to boot in TWRP it just loops the Samsung logo and then when I release the buttons it tries to boot back into Lineageos.
When I try to boot into download mode it works up to the point where it says warning and I have to press volume up to advance or volume down to cancel. Whereas in here all at once the volume dasten do nothing more. and no the keys are not broken because otherwise I would not have come into the menu.
USB debugging and the like is of course not aktieviert, because I just installed a new ROM.
I don't intend to do anything illegal with the phone, as you might think, it's just a backup idea that I'm implementing for fun.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do?
My only idea right now would be to solder the EMMC memory from another mainboard to my current mainboard.

I would throw it away at this point, it isn't worth the money, the time or the effort.
Find something else to tinker with, just don't destroy it the way you did this device.
Why take the approach on unsoldering?
Etherway.... , yes just throwing it away at this point is the best thing

also if the data is confidential, try drilling through the EMMC
I got it working again with the help of a Samsung USB jig.
