[Q] Can someone advise how to get keyboard sounds while typing? - HTC ChaCha

Im using chacha as its prbly the only android with keyboard like a bb! Anyway- Ive rooted, deleted apps and made it workable at least for now- However one thing Ive been unable to do is generate typing sounds on the physical keyboard. All the androids have an option of sound for their onscreen keyboards so is there any way to do this for the Chacha keyboard? The physical one- not by adding a virtual one.
Thanks.

Software keyboards

can someone please tell me were to get the htc software keyboards from!!
i put 6.5 on my phone but there are no software keyboards but the windows 1..i need them please please help!
the default HTC keyboard is called "EzInput". Searching for that will yield you better results.
Also check out the new "FingerKeyboard" I find it works alot better then the default one. It is one I use currently.
Another keyboard I found worked very well was Spb Keyboard. It allows finger gestures for backspace and space. Helps alot.
Also PocketCM Keyboard is REALLY sweet if you can get it set up properly. This keyboard allows for "sloppy" typing. Using this keyboard, you don't have to press the keys exactly. It references your taps against a dictionary and is pretty accurate.
I like the look and feel of FingerKeyboard but find the way PocketCM Keyboard works simply amazing. Both keyboards allow skinning. A mix of the two would be amazing.

changing input method on android

Hi,
I'm about to order an Xperia X10, but i really hate using software keyboards (QWERTY).
Is there any way i can install/replace the QWERTY keyboard with a T9-keypad type input method like the one on my HTC Touch HD?
cheers in advance
Better Keyboard has a compact qwerty, and i`m pretty sure a T9 style as well. You might want to check out the leaked WVGA HTC_IME, it is considered by many to be the best soft keyboard available on android.
i found the HTC IME, it looks great. I havent recieved my phone yet, i'm wondering if its as easy to replace the IME on android as it is on Windows Mobile. I.E. will it feel hacked on or "native"? thanks
Changing input methods is supported natively.

[Q] Gingerbread Keyboard

I tried using the gingerbread keyboard. Very nice indeed.
My question is:
Does the gingerbread keyboard implement the BlindType technology Google recently bought. I am thinking not; since i tried a little and didn't see much difference.
But anybody have info on that?
Another question. Is the Swype keyboard still and option?
Swype is completely separate from the Gingerbread keyboard (or any other keyboard), and you can have as many different keyboards installed at once as your phone has space for. I have 4 or 5 keyboards, including Swype, on my phone.

Phonepad Keyboard App

So yeah, I spend the whole day searching for a better phonepad keyboard. But everything that pops out is for qwerty. Texting is a major communication tool in our country and yeah, english is not the norm so I can't use Swype even though I'm dying too use it. So a better phonepad keyboard is the solution.
I wanna change it since the Optimus 1 keyboard is too cramped for me, I'm looking for one with bigger keys.
Thanks in advance!!
What exactly are you looking for? A number pad style keyboard? Blackberry style keyboard (2 letters per key)? Or just a better QWERTY?
I'm not sure but I think the HTC_IME keyboard allows various styles to choose from (all of the above 3 I mentioned). There is also Swype which eliminates the need for large keys (because you don't press the keys, you use motion gestures).
Me, I personally love the stock Android keyboard. It seems pretty good at knowing what I'm pounding out.
A number pad keyboard. The ones that you see from older phones
Search for the IME mod keyboard. It's got a phone keypad style keyboard.

WOW!!!!!! It works! Thank you so much~!!! This is exactly what I'm looking for! You can even edit the smileys! Perfect! Thanks!
Oh no. Wait, I had a bit of a problem.
I don't know what is the setting called but I'm pretty sure it's present in tis app.
When I use the phonepad keyboard, for example I press "2" so the 1st letter that will come out is "A" I noticed that the time that "A" is highlighted is quite long compared to the native android keyboard, thus slowing my typing down. It does not only affect the phonepad keyboard but also the compact qwerty. How do I edit this setting? Thanks!!
Please I really need help!
Sorry, you cannot edit that setting.
Try instead Better keyboard. It also has a keypad-like one.

[Q] Different keyboard?

hey guys,
i'm new to the TPT and i do like it a lot so far. root went well and bloatware is down. since there are so many apps that are device specific, i was curious if there are any different soft keyboard apps that you could recommend. on the SGS2 i am using swype, so when i switch devices, i'm somehow missing that a little.
possible to install other keys and if so, anything to recommend? maybe even something for the stylus? (i figure that either my handwriting sucks, or the detection for regular writing just sucks)
sorry for beginners questions, but i couldn't find anything about it yet ..
I tried several and settled on SwiftKey Tablet X. Works best for me.
I use Thumb Keyboard. It has a split design and has numbers and arrows. It works good with this wide fellow.
I use it on my phone, but was disappointed that it didn't translate well to tablet, for me.
I use Swype and like it a lot
I use FlexT9, it does swype as well as dictation and some other nifty stuff.
Swift Key tablet version is my favorite, not to much of a fan of Swype but thats just my personal preference. its either stock android or swift key
If you like the full keyboard like I do, i recommend the Hacker's Keyboard. Not exactly sure why its called that but it uses a full QWERTY keyboard with arrow keys. Another is the Logitech Keyboard (still in beta but I havent had any issues) that has a full QWERTY that also you can swipe across the keyboard to show another keyboard that doubles as a technical keyboard or calculator.
If you like lots of buttons, is more open to customizing (button row/column height/width adjustments), either one would work great.

I prefer Thumb Keyboard too. I like that you can choose different themes for it. And for the most part, the themes they offer match a lot of flashable themes/roms for different devices.

+1 for Hacker's Keyboard. I usually use my tablet in the folio case so I have a nice hardware keyboard. However there have been plenty of times where I have had it out of the folio and been editing a document or posting on a forum and the hackers keyboard has come in extremely handy. It would be something I was willing to spend money on, but since it is free, it's an even better deal.

Hackers Keyboard ist the best, it is for free you can use 5 row style (numbers and letters) and you can download different languages for auto correctur.
In portrait mode I usually use Swype, which is great even at 10inch!
In landscape mode and for things like SSH/Terminal, I use Hacker's Keyboard, which feels almost like the real thing
Dueces beat me to it. HACKERS KEYBOARD for the closest simulation of a desktop keyboard (I've) found so far. Not only are the keys big and bold, perhaps more importantly they are scalable (as is the entire keyboard).
coydroid
SwiftKey Tablet X for me as I use SwiftKey 3 on my SGS3 and I just can't go back to anything else anymore...I might have to give this hacker's keyboard a crack though, thanks for the suggestion.
For those who like Swype, I strongly recommend the TouchPal keyboard. Its implementation of the swype input method is terrific.

I was just looking for a way to get the stock swype like keyboard back after installing cm 10.
Touchpal is even better!
