A new HTC smartphone has been revealed via GLBenchmark, a well-known site for device benchmarking.
The mystery device appears to be headed to Verizon to connect with the carrier's 4G LTE network.
More importantly, it packs a full-HD 1080p display and a new quad-core Snapdragon CPU capable of speeds that have never been achieved by the existing S4.
What is the DLX?
According to the GLBenchmark report, the new HTC phone could carry the code name "DLX."
Based on its model number HTC6435, though, it's likely to be a successor to the Verizon HTC Rezound model number HTC6425.
The Rezound was one of the first HTC smartphones with an HD display, so a follow-up with a full 1080p screen would be appropriate.
In fact, the HTC DLX (if that is its name) is equipped with a 1794x1080 display that - even if it includes space for on-screen buttons like other Android devices - could prove dazzling.
Besides the impressive screen resolution, the HTC DLX is powered by a quad core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chip with an Adreno 320 GPU, clocking in at 1.5 GHz, but this doesn't appear to be the standard S4 present in many other smartphones.
One source speculates that the new HTC Verizon phone could even be equipped with the new S4 MSM8960T chip due to the considerable power it displayed in Benchmark tests.
In the Egypt off-screen and pro off-screen tests, it scored well over 100 (121.1 and 110.5 FPS respectively), numbers that other phones can't come close to.
The new HTC DLX for Verizon and possible Rezound successor runs Android 4.0.4, according to the benchmark reports, and along with the gorgeous screen and impressive quad-core processor, those are all the known details.
Watch out for more updates on the mystery HTC Verizon phone as the companies prepare to reveal whatever it is.

Im always getting the newest phone. I love the s3, but im one of those "got to have the newest phone" guys. I find that its much easier to keep on top of the current tech if you are constantly switching out devices, of you wait a year, or 2 years, your device is worth nothing, and upgrading is expensive. I almost always make money when changing phones out.. so. ya.

Ironically, I'm kinda with you on that one. I usually have about a 3-6 month turn around on my phones. I don't mind having middle of the line or bottom of the line, but having SECOND frome top just makes me want the one on top that much more.

If that bootloader gets unlocked and the battery doesn't suck... I'll bite. This gs3 was a penny for me.

I'm done with HTC phones. Never again. And I'm sick of having the newest toy. The GS3 with CM10 is the happiest I've ever been using a phone.

Htc needs to step up their overall build quality and batteries before ill consider another one of their phones.

Really? HTC phones have always seemed much more solid devices to me. The s3 is plastic thin and cheap feeling. (it doesn't look cheap, just feels like it) the rezound feels like a solid chunk of phone.

Yeah, it's a chunk of phone. As in, a brick. With a creaky plastic battery door, godawful flush buttons, dismal battery life, and a terrible update track record. Nice screen and camera though. I've owned 4 HTC phones (HTC Touch, Eris, Thunderbolt, Rezound) and they've all had certain advantages, and they've all had such enormous problems that I'm just not interested anymore--HTC is off the trusted list until they get their sh*t together with updates and kernel sources. And Sense just straight-up sucks. I don't love Touchwiz either, but at least it's footprint isn't so heavy.

Ya, there seem to be people on both sides. much like ford vs chevy. I personally think the build quality of HTC is incredible, i love the flush buttons, the red glow, seemed like a very fine and quality slab of technology. I think sense is amazing, sense 4.5 is incredible. The radios on HTC phones are top notch, my wife still has her rezound and she always has 4g where I don't. Our house has very poor 4g service, my s3 cannot hold a data connection at all. We use our phones to tether our laptops (we dont pay for cable.. ) and after switching from the rezound to the s3, I can no longer tether reliably. When its getting its 1 bar of 4g, it works fine, but after a few min it drops to 3g or 1x or nothing at all, I spend more time fiddling with airplane mode to try and get 4g back then I do getting any work done. So I have had to use her phones wifi tether to get anything important done.
The GPS on the s3 works kinda. We were in San Francisco a few weeks ago, I have a mount on my dash that holds my phone (not a dock, just an adjustable mount) and my phone is always in it for navigation. We had to swap phones because the s3 kept dropping the gps lock, and telling me to turn on streets that were either not near me, or in the wrong direction because the phone though I was pointing a differnt direction than I was, or that I was not moving when I was. Put her rezound in there and it worked flawlessly, even on the lower deck of the bay bridge.
Don't get me wrong, I think the s3 is a great device, (which is why I own one) But I also switch phones A LOT. I have had almost every flagship device on VZW. My experience overall with quality and reliability have always been HTC, where I think samsung always wins in the sexiness department.
At the end of the day, I jsut want my phone to work when I need it to work, being in a big city and needing to get from point A to point B, and having your 600 dollar device fail to provide that basic functionality in a reliable manner is something I have come to expect from Samsung.
I have had the all of the major Samsung devices on VZW, and all of the HTC phones. My opinion is based on using those phones every day while I had them.. just this last year alone (since sep last year) I have had the incredible 2, droid charge, rezound, nexus, and s3, and soon the new HTC.. I am the only one I know who gets a new phone ever 2 months or so

Isn't that artical quite a bit old? If we haven't seen anything more current about it i doubt its real. Either way there is no way i could afford to upgrade again.

That sucks.. Depending on when you got the phone and when you got the s3.. Isn't that 1 phone every week? Factor in shipping time.. You would have had to be calling to get a replacement every 4 to 5 days since you purchased the original phone..

I had like 6. And how can you factor in anything if you don't know his circumstances? I had two phones that had issues right away. from them and they overnight my phones to me every time.

I prefer samsung and I'm so happy with the SIII, most probably i'll just wait till the S IV is out

True story, but it was two of my lines that both had rezounds. I bought them both back in November and had nonstop issues out the gate. Eventually I was able to convince Verizon to upgrade me to the gs3 though.

Ive always been a huge fan of Motorola phones. I got a Fascinate for my mom, but kept it till my Droid X came in. Samsung impressed me back then. I took a leap of faith on the S3 and I'm loving every minute of it. But with HTCs piss poor track record *ahem Thunderbolt, Rezound* pre-ordering that would be like jumping off a cliff. I'm still waiting for Moto's next big thing, but as good as the S3 has been... I might give the Moto to mommy

Trying to decide between S4 HTC One and LG Optimus G Pro

These seem like the three hottest phones right now, and i know i throw this up in the S4 forum so i am sure to get a bit biased replies, i am curious about comparing all 3.
To me it seems like the One has better sound quality and screen, the S4 supposedly has a bit better speeds (and probably best development) and the OGP has biggest screen size.
I don't love the interface design on the One, specifically no menu button or ability to see recently used apps, could be a deal breaker on it's own. The LG phone is an interesting one...seems like a nicely designed phone, and if you don't really have a need for most of Samsung's zany apps and stuff, it might be a great phone. Biggest problem i am worried about is - lack of development. I got burned on an OG Note when the Note 2 arrived and Samsung basically moved on, never to release an official JB version. I would hate to buy into another great phone only to get burned by lack of a following or something.
I'm sure anyone would be happy as a clam with any of these three bad boys, but anyone have an opinion when comparing them first hand?

I owned the One for a week and switched it for GS4. The Audio on the One sounds better(double front facing stereo speakers > single backfacing speaker) although the volume is about the same, and the screen is brighter, However the 4MP camera couldn't get enough detail for me and the photos looks really fuzzy on my 1440p screen. The AMOLED screen on the GS4 is beautiful and not too bad in sunlight either(One'LCD is better under the sun, but not much better).
Another benefit of GS4 is that the battery life is significantly better than the One, even when I run the GS4 at max brightness(Dynamic Mode) at all times,

Haven't used an Optimus G Pro, but I have both the One and S4. You're right about the button placement on the HTC, it's infuriating. There are custom kernels that allow you to sweep the capacitive buttons or hold the HTC logo to wake and sleep the phone, but they don't work as reliably as I'd like. The S4 is much better in that sense, in my opinion anyways. I prefer the screen on the HTC. I do a lot of Web browsing and I find it's much easier on the eyes. I've done a factory reset, turned off animations, and disabled S-Voice, but my S4 is noticeably more laggy than the HTC. It's actually shockingly laggy given the hardware. I don't take a ton of pictures, but when I do it's almost always in good lightning conditions, so for me the S4 camera trounces the camera on the HTC.
At this point you honestly can't really go wrong. Battery life is similar for my usage, maybe marginally better on the S4. If you can live with 32gb of storage (realistically about 26gb) I'd go for the HTC.

I used the Optimus G Pro (OGP) for 2 days before exchanging for a GS4. I exchanged because the battery life on the Optimus G pro was horrible. I had a NOTE II before and that battery would go all day & some. The screen did get a little brighter than the Galaxy S4, but that was the only benefit for me. I changed because of the battery drain, the lack of assessories, and the predicted lack of development. Both have locked bootloaders, but I figured I would get that unlocked sooner on the GS4 and have more ROMS available to me. I did like the customizable options included with the OGP, but I would choose the GS4 over it again if I had a chance.

I have all 3 phones. I use the LG Optimus G Pro as a daily driver at this point as my sgs4 lags big time and battery life sucks. My batter life on LG Optimus G Pro is very good and I have a note 2. I can go two days with heavy usage no issues. The screen is the best on LG Optimus G Pro compared to HTC one and sgs4.
HTC one build, look and feel is the best it is the iPhone of the android world. However I had the capacitive buttons they suck. The sound is better then any phone out there and I think screen looks good but battery life sucks. Will have decent dev support and comes in 64 or 32gb. No removable battery or sd card.
Sgs4 has nice big screen, 16gb storage total crap as 9gb is only use bale, you can get 32gb now. Cheap plastic build feels worst from all 3 phones. The phone is not as smooth as HTC one or LG Optimus G Pro unless you use a custom rom like CM. The size and screen is perfect if you want a bigger screen but not a big phone. Will have decent dev support. Removable battery and sd card slot.
Lg Optimus G Pro comes in 32gb with micro sd and Removable battery. Has best screen from all phones I have. It is super fast and battery is great. Boot loader is locked with no info if it will ever be unlocked so development is none at this point. Screen is 5.5 and 1080p. I like note 2 so this is a direct replacement for it until note 3 comes out. The phone is actually lighter and not as wide as note 2 so easier to hold single handed.

Of you are looking for development then the answer is simple, GS4. Reason being is Google is releasing an S4 with stock Android and it is supported by Google, not Samsung. We should have the best of both worlds. Pretty easy decision if you ask me

Have all three, imo its S4, G Pro, One in that order. Ever since development took off for the S4 and the lag was removed, S4 hands down is the best phone on the market (again, imo)...Optimus G Pro was a huge surprise as its an EXCELLENT phone with a great screen and decent battery (nowhere near as good as Note 2, right on par with S4)...the only issues I have with G Pro is reversed capacitive buttons and the screen is impossible to see outdoors, which is when I simply grab my S4 and go...the One is a great phone, I just got too used to physical home button and multi-tasking (through multi-window or Q Slide), plus I really, REALLY don't care for Sense in any of its iterations...G Pro volume is low even with an aux cable in my car, but fine with Bluetooth, S4 is loud, and One is loud. Clearly One wins design, but if functionality is what you want, I'd go with S4 and G Pro every time.

I was another one of those guys on the fence between these three phones. Ended up ruling out the LG for two reasons: I can't stand the gov't issue LG phones they gave us to use at work and I really don't think I can handle lugging around a phone with a 5.5" screen in my uniform all day.
So that put me between the One and S4. While the one is favored for its front-facing speakers and LCD3 screen, it features no removable storage or user-accessible parts. Have a failed battery? Too bad, need to replace your entire phone. Need more space? Too bad, you only get what's on it (even though 64GB isn't too shabby). So, yes, the One is basically the iPhone of the Android world that just so happens to already have a decent amount of development now, but what will it be like when HTC moves on to whatever new phone it chooses to support? Those of us who owned an Evo knows exactly what I'm talking about.
That being said, the consumer-level development on the One is impressive. They've managed to remove the menu bar for apps that aren't ICS-compliant (Viper will, for one) and allowed you to finally bring the clock speeds back up to be comparable to (if not better than...at your own risk) the S4.
I will personally stick with the S4. There's always a bigger push for development for Samsung's phones, they tend to have better resale potential, and I will actually benefit from a user-accessible battery and SD card storage. Since the S4's SD slot is SDXC-compatible, should they manage to find an ability to have a cards' size in excess of 64GB, you've got MONSTER potential for storage.
One more vote for the S4, and not one from a Samsung fanboy. I was reluctant to decide on it after my Epic 4G was an Epic FAIL, but I feel it's the superior phone for me.

I would opt for the Samsung Galaxy S4 just because there is more development in it other then the other two phones. Also IMO the phone is much easier to use and has a smaller learning curve then the HTC One. The lag on the S4 truly sucks but for some reason I feel the lag is going away with time or as apps update so maybe the problem is getting taken care of. I primary feel the lag when receiving text messages. I use the iPhone as my benchmark for software and smoothness and the Galaxy Note 2 was the closest android phone to iPhone in terms of stability lack of lag and reliability. I thought samsung was taking things in the right direction but I feel they took a step back with the S4. Hopefully they redeem themselves!

For me, it came down to how I was going to use the device. Rarely do I play games or watch movies/tv on my phone, so why would I need front facing speakers anyway? I have a bluetooth stereo speaker if I want to listed to music with friends (jawbone). The ability to replace the battery, sd-card, and the lack of a MENU button pushed me over the top for the ONE. With the LG, it ended up just plain being too large, I have enough tablets in my life. The S4 actually isn't that big, the screen is just bigger because there's a smaller bezel. That left me with one choice, the S4, as much as I hate the rounded corners and plastic feel, the first thing we all do is put a case on it anyway.

S4 is a piss poor release from Samsung. Let's all get our fanboy hats off for a minute. It will be a good phone do to custom roms and devs supporting like CM. People jumped all over apple for releasing iPhone 5 which was similar to iPhone 4s. Samsung copied and did same thing with s4 compared to s3. Note 2 was stable and lack free from day one I had it and used it every day from first day of release until sgs4 was released. I do have an sgs4 and samsung could have done much better.

I have all the newest phones but I also am unbiased and don't stick to one brand or phone and call it like it is. With time and with custom roms sgs4 will be good. It is not my daily driver until cm10.1 comes out for it.

It just blows my mind how Samsung got it so right with the Galaxy Note 2 and couldn't replicate it with the Galaxy s4. I would assume all they had to do was take a product or software that was one of their best and improve it but instead they made it worse. I am really hoping for an update to be released soon to fix many of the software glitches. I am also wondering if this is more of an American galaxy s4 problem that's the international version does not suffer from or A cross-platform problem. But other than the occasional lagginess the Galaxy s4 blows away the competition.

Same for me. I had the One IPhone 5 and the galaxy note 2 and this is my favorite by far. The lag isn't too bad at all especially with custom kernels and such. Why use cyanogenmod with this though?

To be honest my phone is really lagging I may have a bad unit to be honest I am hoping cm10 will fix this or some custom tw rom. But phone is perfect screen size and size for phone.

Competing hardware won't date this phone, the lack of software support will. Being that this phone is completely unlocked, software development should have a nice long future - - as far as phones go.

There is a fine line between outdated and obsolete.
Will the Nexus 5 be outdated? Well, in comparison to devices like the Note 3 or even the LG Flex, it already is.
Will the Nexus 5 become obsolete? Yes. Most modern tech probably will. But devices like the S5 or One+ will not be the devices that make the N5 obsolete. Maybe the S7/S8. Or the HTC S One+One X (or whatever ridiculous name HTC comes up with next.) Currently, the biggest differences between these devices isn't hardware -- it's software.
Keep in mind the Nexus One came out nearly five years ago, and that phone is still more powerful than a great deal of devices that are being released today.
IMO, the Nexus 5 will only become outdated once Google and communities like XDA stop supporting them. I don't think we'll get there for a few years.

S5/newOne won't be using the 805 chip, they'll use a very slightly updated version of the 800.
When 805 phones do come out, then the nexus will feel dated to me.

Only thing that will not be outdated is the software. Hardware is already outdated, mainly the battery and camera.

That future won't be as long as you think.
Most people won't be able to stay with the Nexus 5 more than 1 or 2 years because of the low battery. Next year most phones will have 3000 minimum, and most Nexus 5 users will leave the Nexus 5 for the 6 or another phone if it has more battery.
Despite having updates and custom roms, nothing matters if the battery isn't enough for the future!

nexus 5 cannot be compared to software features mentioned in op.
hardware wise.. some of it already is outdated in geeky way to put!
phone would go along just fine for a long time as we have everything we need!

Nexus 5 won't get outdated quickly because it has Snapdragon 800 and 2Gb of ram,so after some time it's will just be assigned to the mid-range phones,instead of high-end ones,but I think it's will be mid-range phone for about 2 years,like phones with only 1GB of ram are still assigned to the mid-range.

once a device is release.. a new one is in the making to replace it... thats the way the world goes...
Besides.. the N5 didnt have world class specs to be with either... It sold good because the Price Was Right... if it was priced $500+.. sales I bet would be a quarter of what it is at best..

I remember asking myself the same question when I had the Note 2. It was all over the internet with articles and reviews praising it. It had a decent development albeit it was slow and i figured id keep it for atleast 2 years since the 2GB ram and the battery life woukd keep it future proof. Then within 10 months into its life cycle all its excitements stopped and the attention was onto the Note 3 and thats when it started feeling outdated. Personally I don't compare my device brand to other brands except for its newer model. So personally the only other device that will make it outdated is its successor.

Nexus5 lives on till the Nexus6 Google flagship is released!

It's already outdated. That's just the way it is.
It still feels blisteringly fast and awesome to me. When will it "feel" like it's outdated and needs to be replaced? For me, probably when Google stops the OS updates, or maybe, 2 Nexus generations from now. With the way this phone performs, I will probably skip the next Nexus and update the following gen.
My brother has a Nexus 4, and after playing around with it for a while, that phone still feels great as well. That phone is already a generation old, but doesn't feel outdated to me.

The LG G2 is similar to the N5 but with a 3000 mAh battery. You can find many people complaining of battery life issues especially with the changes in the kit Kat update. Battery size will not completely stop wake locks, badly programmed apps, and unforseen issues from causing abnormal drains.

That is true, but the bigger the battery is the wakelocks and such will have less impact than in a lower battery. It's just pure logic.
The battery will last longer, even with wakelocks.

Agreed. However to a user experiencing abnormal drain that might not equate to a large difference in the end. You can't argue with the numbers though, N5 is about as efficient of a high end phone ever made.
I think the biggest selling points of the N5 won't get outdated or become obsolete any time soon.
Price point: Good phones will come out, few will cost $350 off contract.
Software support: Official updates and amazing developer support.

As someone who just picked up a Nexus 5, I can say that this phone feels more modern than anything else I have used.
Blows my old GS4 out of the water.

I think this phone will hold it's own, sure note 3 has 3gb of ram but it's bloated with TW which in the notes defense adds a lot of cool functionality with s pen and multi window. I mean technically my old gnex performed rather well with 4.3 and last I checked 4.4 is running good( was a slow process in the beginning just before I sold it) this phone is amazing. My only complaints are that is the size after using note 2 I really like having a 5.5+ phone and non removable battery with a relatively small battery.

Just curious to see how the nexus 5 has done now that it's been out for awhile. I bought a moto x a while back and it's nice and all but I've got the itch to get something else and is hard to pass up the value of the nexus 5. I owned the nexus 4 prior to the x and I loved it (also loved the amount of Dev support). So I guess as the title asks... Would you buy it all over again? Any problems you've encountered in the time you've spent with the device? I want to ask about battery life but I know that's pretty subjective and also completely user dependent so I guess that's only a major concern if anyone has seen drastic problems.

Best device I've owned! Very developmental on XDA! Even popular on eBay!

Sure it comes with minor defects (all Nexus 5's do), but the only regret I have is not buying the 32GB version.
I miss having expandable storage, just because I like having space (have never needed to make space... Never will either , just a weird need of mine).
Android is the future... Open-Source = Endless possibilities.

Do you mind elaborating on the minor defects? Its good to hear someone isn't unhappy about the battery life.

Worth it because I got it in one of those eBay deals at $380 32gb, also the first one had loose volume buttons and this one is perfect.

I'd definitely purchase the N5 again. Usually I go from phone to phone but the N5 is the first phone that I've kept for so long. I've owned this phone since February and to me that's a long time to own a phone compared to what I usually do (buy/trade for every phone that comes out).
With this phone I haven't felt jealous of my girlfriends Galaxy S5 or of the G3, or even the M8. When I had the N4 I felt a bit like I was missing something but the N5 definitely does the job.

The m8 is definitely a premium phone at a premium price and I would of definitely jumped at it but decided not to for 2 reasons. I don't understand the 4 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front shooter concept. I also dislike how tall the phone is. I think the bezels could of been a bit more slim but whatever.

Well, "megapixels" just specifies the amount of pixels in the taken pictures, doesn't necessarily define the actual quality. My Xperia Arc S (released 2011 lol) has an 8mp camera and it obviously takes worse pictures than my Nexus 5. I played around with an M8 before and the picture quality is actually pretty good.

If I could go back in time and buy one again I would. I wouldn't buy another one now though

Lol sorry, just wanted to be clear... Its age somewhat makes me want to move onto something else. Some other the new CPUs "seem" to have better power management in a lower power state. Plus the M8s build / feel-in-hand-quality are reeeeaaally tempting but of course the price reflects that. Buying off-contract makes that hard to stomach. The update cycle seems like a toss up- HTC seems to be better lately about updates and the nexus 5 is quite a ways into its 18mo update life cycle.

I would definitely buy it all over again. You can do pretty much anything you want with the phone; Unlocking the bootloader or rooting the phone is the easiest process compared to every other phone I've had. I've had an HTC Wildfire S (not great but it was the first device I rooted .. pita), an iPhone (which wasn't so bad, but it lacked the customization i wanted), a Galaxy S4 (a great phone if you can put up with Touchwiz and slow updates and etc. Of course you can get the Dev edition if you feel like paying an extra 300-400 dollars for a better battery and a removable sd card compared to the Nexus 5, which isn't worth it), a Moto X (no complaints other than it felt too small), and now a Nexus 5 (best phone ever).
To be completely honest, I would buy it three times over just because I don't like having what everyone else has. Everyone I see with a smartphone either has an iPhone or a Galaxy. I've never really had anyone ask me about my phone, but I've never seen anyone else in my area with a Nexus 5. I'm sure someone has one, but I've not seen one yet
EDIT: Oh yeah and getting the updates first with no bs. Of course that doesn't really matter to me because I run Paranoid Android, but just the fact that we get that is awesome.

Yeah the updates are the icing on the cake. Ease of use (as far as gaining root) is also a REALLY big deal for me. Took me FOREVER to finally build up the courage to root my nexus 4 when I had it. Im not your average end user, but I'm not the MOST tech savvy person on the planet that's for sure. The process is so simple to me now but I have nothing to compare it to (Samsung HTC or other devices)

My biggest complaint about the phone is the audio quality... The speaker is actually not terrible but the headphone output is very poor. Even my old Galaxy Nexus sounds better with my headphones. If I were buying it today, I'd probably get the M8. But the lack of an easy root would be a pain, primarily for tethering.

I am very aware of what megapixels bring to the table, but what happens when you want to blow up that tiny 4 megapixel picture and print it on a larger scale for display?
HTC downgraded the pixels because they claimed most people only take pics to upload to social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. I believe they are right about what majority use the camera for but what about those like myself that require higher resolution?

[Q] Currently Have a Verizon S3, looking for a decent replacement phone

I currently have a Verizon S3. I got it on launch day over 2 years ago. I rooted it and put cyanogenmod on it as soon as I could. I use CM just because t runs much smoother than TW. Honestly, I don't need most of the extra features of TW, I just need a decent phone that runs smoothly. I am looking to get a new phone. I am going to pay full price, or find a used one. I am out of contract and I plan on keeping it that way as long as they continue to give me a $25/month discount. I have been looking at a few different phones but I just can't decide. Here is what I am looking for:
-I would like removable storage, but it isn't a must. I have the 16gb S3 and a 16gb SD card. I haven't even filled up the phone memory yet. I am almost always connected to WIFI at work so if I need something, I have it on Goolgle Drive or dropbox or MS OneDrive.
-Minimalist manufacturer OS skin. Like the Moto X. Practically Vanilla Android. Or at least the ability to root and load a very vanilla ROM. I have done a good amount of rooting and romming before. As long as there are decent directions, I can usually follow them well enough to get it done.
-Removable Battery. Almost an absolute. I am almost never sitting down long enough to charge my phone adequately. I currently have 3 OEM Samsung batteries for my S3. I have a desktop charger at home. One battery usually lasts me all day, but sometimes it will die mid-day if I used the phone a lot. I have to have my phone charged up and functioning at all times for work so I just carry one of the spare batteries in my pocket and swap it out once the phone dies.
-I don't want a huge phone. I don't need a Note. Or anything much bigger than 5". I bought an S4 a while back and I thought it felt a little bit big. I like the size of my S3. I don't want to go much larger. I have a tablet for reading or checking email, I don't need to do those things on my phone.
Those are my main requirements. I don't care so much about the camera, Or processor (as long as the experience is smooth), Or Speakers. I need the phone to be a phone.
I had been looking at the 2013 MotoX, although it doesn't have a removable battery. I can live without removable storage. Otherwise it would be perfect. I had hoped that the new MotoX would have had a removable battery, but no such luck. And they increased the size a bunch, so like many others, I am not really happy with they way that Motorola went with the updated version. Otherwise I have thought about an S4 Mini. But really, an S4 mini isn't even an upgrade from the S3, so that is practically pointless. So then I maybe thought about the S5 Mini. I realize that it hasn't been released on Verizon yet, I was going to wait. But looking at those specs, the S5 mini is almost exactly the same as an S3, so again, no point in "upgrading". I am open to LG and HTC phones, I just don't know much about them. I am hoping somebody will have some decent recommendations. Thanks in advance.

Verizon is rumored to be carrying a version of it as well. 5.2" screen, microSD slot which supports up to 128GB. I'm almost sure most of the phones they suggested probably will never be released on verizon. As nice as a lot of the newer phones are most of them have a slim chance to be released on vzw

I am sort of thinking I will hold on to my busted up S3 for a while. Nothing really has come out that is any better. About the closest thing would be an S4 or even S5. But I would have to root them and put CM11 on them as well. And I would have to get spare batteries (or use my battery pack) in order to get the same functionality that I currently have. That's really sad that in the two years since my S3 has come out, not one of the major companies has brought out a phone that fits my needs any better than my current phone. There is no feature that compels me to want to buy a new phone. The only thing that even comes close are the always listening/watching features of the new Moto X. But the battery, size, and lack of expandable memory pretty much kill it for me.

Neither phone mentioned has an unlocked bootloader unless you find an S4 prior to being locked down. The S5 is rootable currently but that's it
