[Q] What is the Most stable ROM without bloatware? - Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G

I've been using cyanogenmod for quite a while now but I'm starting to get annoyed with the little bugs such as the flash not being able to be turned on/off and apps not working consistently like snapchat. The only reason I currently still use this ROM is because screencapping with the Volume down and lock button is very convenient. What ROM's do you guys prefer on your S blaze?

Me, I use PACrom and have been for about a month now. Its super stable and packed full with nice little features. It comes with functioning torch, screen capture is included, of course, but as for snap chat, I couldn't say.

Dude, do a little searching. It's in the development section. Not hard to find. First rule of XDA, search...

Just in case you haven't found it.

Coolest Features of the GS3?

So I am still trying to figure out how to turn on that one feature where you can reject calls by saying "Reject!" Maybe its not supported on my ROM (I'm on the newest Synergies builds).
Therefore, I was wondering if some of you could list some of your most favorite features of the GS3....whatever that may be in order to make your day-to-day operations easier.
Thanks!

My favorite feature? The unlocked bootloader
I've been running CM10 for a week or so now and I have to say that I really miss the tw camera on the stock GS3. I don't know if you consider the camera software a feature or not but that app is amazing.

Yeah I think there are ways you can take it out of the TW ROM and place it into CM10...I'm just waiting for CM10 to stabalize and off I go! I've had it for a few days and seems good! the HDR Camera+ and Camera360 are great too!
I haven't seen anything like that. The TW camera app is what has kept me from going to CM10. I also like the TW calendar more than AOSP.

Believe me, I've tried to get it in there. I've ported over various tw framework files along with it but just can't get it to work.
Let me qualify this by saying that I'm no dev and don't *really* know what I'm doing
MB when JB is released officially for this phone it can be ported.

killer feature
Unofficial AOKP Jellybean is working breat for me. Only ROM I've used so far and I have had zero issues mentioned in its thread.
I hated TW and VZW bloat was too much
Personally, the one thing I would love if it worked right is the smart stay. I love the idea behind it, but in practicallity, unless I have the phone oriented just right it won't work. I've check the camera without moving, and I've had more than 3/4 of my face in easy view and still the screen would shut off.

The smart stay doesn't actually recognize your face. It throws that little eyeball notification in the status bar so it will distract you and your eyes move to "see what it is" the camera picks up your eye movement(or doesn't) and either keeps the screen on or not.

i think the tw cam is based on code from the touchwiz framework. i doubt you can use it on cm10. but the aosp camera in the i9300 forum is really nice if you want cm10. i also love the phone and contacts apps. and the motion controls are really cool.

[UPDATE: LINK] CM Nemesis (Phase 1): Focal camera app

There's an article from geek.com/androidpolice.com outlining Focal, a new camera app from the CM team. It seems awesome, especially for our device which has always had issues with the camera as compared to the stock camera app.
One of the best parts is that it is modular, so any dev can enable special features specific to our device, like zero shutter lag that we don't really get on AOSP camera app.
Just thought I'd share with you guys!

DISCLAIMER: I just found the APK because I searched for it. I found it, it runs, so I'm sharing it with this community. I haven't tested it extensively, so don't come to me if anything happens. You do this on your own.

i would say "ban this troll!" but this was well executed so i'm ok with it lol.
my first thoughts were like uh source isn't even out yet
update from the focal apk: it runs. overall works. focusing is meh on this device, everything looks kind of faded. it has issues connecting to the camera after a few tries...
anyway, i would only recommend using the apk for fun just to try it. there's obviously a crapload of bugs left that the CM team are already aware of, and they're working tirelessly to fix them.

Was very excited when first heard of this, figured since I'm using the unofficial CM build for this (SilverL's 4.2.2) that we might see it integrated into one of the builds.
Guess there are more issues than it's worth and we likely won't be seeing it fully operational?
Surprisingly its not just our device that its really buggy for. Other legacy devices are having a hard time getting it to work, and we're always waiting for the sensation to get fixed so its worse for us.
However the issue is with the focal app itself. I don't blame the cm team. They're going through a lot of awesome stuff right now, and I believe they're writing the focal app from the ground up, as compared to before where they were building on the aosp camera.
Anyway point is that its buggy for all cm users. Especially legacy devices.
But time fixes all bugs
Oh good, hope! I still love our "legacy" device more than 80% of the current tech that's out there, so glad I haven't had to buy a new smartphone in so long!

[RESEARCH] what do you want in a Rom?

hi everyone I want to make a Rom based on Android 4.4.3
so I want to ask what features, tweaks you want to see in a Rom?
I'll try to put all that I can
if I didnt maybe in the next few updates
now you can change the color of the status bar !
but its will be ASOP on TW not a TW on ASOP !

Are you going to start from zero or are you going to use another rom as base? Because CM11.0 has almost everything to be perfect, dispites of bugs (call quality, mirror screen not working, fc in camera and quality...). But one thing that I miss is finger friendly like MIUI since our screen isn't small, but I don't know if it would match with CM design (at least volume menu, power options menu could be at low screen would be nice).
One of the biggest problem in android IMHO is the battery drain, and I know that most of it is caused by google framework and play services avoiding device to deep sleep, so would be nice a rom or a option with good battery and a good integration with a custom gapps (maybe with only Play Store and I'm not asking to be included in the ROM, I know that is not possible) that would focus on battery for those who doesn't use gmail, google calendar sync, contacts sync and everything else that drain a lot of battery. I'm fallowing this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357417) where people reports to achieve 3 days with 2-3h screen on time or 5-9 with non stop use, would be nice to have some of it implemented in the rom that din't corrupt notifications. BTW, how is the progress, will you continue the project?

until now idont know how to begin. maybe ill take some of google edition and mix it with TW, and maybe ill start from zero
its depending on how the rom gone be
and i know that alot of users want a better battery life and some of them dont look for a rom features, they just want to fix the battery drain
im from the beginning focusing on the battery life & rom speed and responding
ill try to do an option for full Gapps and custom Gapps
the progress? still not going, coz im waiting for Android 4.4.3 to roll out :good:
and of course i will continue the project :fingers-crossed:
A TW based ROM thats as fast an AOSP ROM.
This would be my ideal ROM.
Becoz its TW based you will alleviate all the battery drain issues associated with CM based ROMs.
Currently AL_IRAQI's BareBones is as close as it gets.
after 4.4.3 rolls out ill post some screenshots and I will ask for testers

I tweak my status bar using xPosed installer so mine doesn't look stock other than the icons being white. Is there anything in particular about it?
if you want to change the shape or the color of the status bar I can help you with that
That status bar mod looks cool hey.
Currently I'm testing Ozcans ROM and I actually quite like the S5 features like the status bar and dialer etc that he has incorporated.
I like your idea of basing your ROM on TW. The AOSP on TW is a good idea.
Best of both worlds if you ask me.
I like to use the Domination theme to get the AOSP "feel"
I dont think you will have to wait too long for 4.4.3 as rumour is that Samsung is testing 4.4.3 for the S5 - so I pray its coming to the S4 soon after
ya I know that 4.4.3 will roll out soon bit I just cant wait xD

[ROM][4.4.2] MIUI V5 4.9.21 - Digitalhigh Edition

Oh snap! It's that time of year again, kids.
What time, pappa Digitalhigh, what time?
Why, it's MIUI time, children!
What is MIUI?
MIUI is a Chinese ROM. Well, not just any ROM, but the most widely used ROM in the damned country.
Essentially, it's *kind of* an IOS clone...but not really. Or maybe like, if Android and iOS got drunk enough one night to get busy, and that resulted in some kind of bastard wunderOS that has a lot of the sexy sensibility of iOS, minus all the stick-up-the-buttedness that comes with it. It has a full suite of custom software, is 100% themeable, and gets weekly updates.
And it's fast.
Now, as this is my first ever release of this for the M8, please be patient as I get settled into MIUI on this device. As the days and weeks progress, I guarantee you I will be spanking in every goodie I know about for MIUI, and some others I've learned about since then.
In testing so far, I know audio, camera, video recording, phone, and 3g/LTE data work. 3G may be a bit spotty as this is based on GPE and I haven't gotten the data drop fix in yet. But it works, and it works smoothly!
I have yet to test bluetooth, headphones, etc...but this is based on the GSM version by @JTJTJ here:

Will this work with the new firmware.
sent from me to you.
Flashing now I'll give you an update on what works and what doesn't. Very excited and was waiting for thing for VZW
Edit 1
--------------
Make sure you do a full wipe before flashing rom including internal storage. Cell coverage is spotty and creating a miui account from set up does not work. Connection to WiFi takes a while the first time but eventually connects. Headphones, speakers and bluetooth do work for me, how ever certain parts of the ROM are still in chinese
Edit 2
_______
After Flashing Gapps google keyboard crashes and no longer works
Edit 3

Everything is currently working flawless after enabling LTE, nav bar, and a keybaord.

I tried it for a day and it seemed very unstable and buggy. But so was Broken OS, and PureNexus. I don't know if it's my phone, or just the ROMs becoming more unstable than they were in February. I haven't found a DD yet.

Yeah :/ I had really high hopes. At times it seemed great. I wished there was a way to turn their theme from holo blue to red! I've been using black and red themes lately. I wish I could remember the specific issues I had with this one. I know Broken would be working fine, then just crash, and not power up again. Pure nexus only had 3/4 of the features working, and had all the notofication and scrolling lag that the CM ROMs have. Who knows. Could be my device.

I apologize, but I can't honestly remember now. I can't remember if that was the one that would have apps close on me, or open on me without any input, or why I used the word unstable and buggy. If I say something is unstable and buggy, it typically means I had significant issues, beyond the normal one or two things that just don't work. But I unfortunately cannot remember.
I would like to note however, I noticed that restoring my apps and data with TiBu seemed to be causing some of my issues with the ROMs from that timeframe. Because I flashed the same purenexus build twice, once with restoring apps and data, and once by reinstalling everything from the play store, and noticed a huge difference. Using TiBu was much buggier, on the very same build. So it might have been that.
Link??
Restoring system data with TB can cause all sorts of weird issues. I strictly use it to restore apps/data for everything else, but not system data.
Sometimes it helps to wipe internal storage too when moving from one rom type to another (ie, stock based to aosp).
I haven't tried tesla rom yet, but may give it a shot in the future.

Anyone else having the 2 below issues or do I need to clean flash again...
1. Holding recents for last app will flip to last app then open recents (not just flip to last app). I tested this over and over with same result.
2. Google maps works but I can't see streets. The GPS showed I was home but nothing else
