[Q] LG Enact VS890 - General Questions and Answers

I've just (October 2013) purchased an LG Enact VS890 on Verizon, released August 22, 2013. USB Debugging is available as an option under "Settings / Developer options". "Internet Connection" is the USB connection mode required to get USB debugging going.
I'd really like to obtain root on this phone, but it doesn't seem to have been rooted, based on a Google search.
Does anyone else have any experience with the LG Enact?
And how does one go about rooting a brand-new Android model?

It's verizon, so you may not even be able to root the phone. It's been a bit since someone brought me something from verizon but I remember it being unable to root. Even googleing only turns up reviews and such but no real root instructions.

I suppose there is an upcoming cousin of this for T-Mobile, Optimus F3Q (considering the VS890 is called FX3)
http://www.electronista.com/article....smartphone.for.t.mobile.similar.to.lg.enact/

I would very much like root on this device too. I am looking to get it to use as an at home internet messenger/update device etc. I would pay if someone finds a root and does step by step for other users.
I may get it regardless and try saferoot myself too.

That worked!
I just rooted my LG Enact (Verizon-branded) via this F3Q instruction: http://www.andromods.com/root-unlock/d520-one-click-rooted-tmobile-lg-optimus-f3q.html
Confirming that works!
Note that USB debugging (and that's why Saferoot) won't work until you set PC connection is set to "Internet" mode.

But this is for Android 4.1.2, not for 4.4.2. So I will try this on my Mom's Enact and see if it works. Mom is thinking about getting a new phone because it shuts off when she is not using it and its not because of a low battery. This could be fixed by hacking some of the files in the system if it was rooted.

For anyone having one of these phones (LG / Verizon Enact VS890 4G) today in 2016, I just bought one at fry's for $10 got home and ran KingRoot via the desktop app, and successfully rooted the thing just fine right out of the box.
Have to enable Ethernet/modem over USB before the option to enable usb debugging is "un-greyed" and checked, then tap it in the phone again to disable "Installer mode", and get actual access. Then go in security options and enable apps from unknown sources. Connect to computer and run kingroot and it should root it, then reboot it then live rooted. Worked for me.

Rooting LG Doubleplay (possible?)

Have attempted to root with Gingerbreak APK and SuperOneClick. Did not work. Need to uninstall bloatware (slacker radio, bejeweled, sims, group texting, and other useless junk).
Phone is with T-Mobile, and I have SD card on phone too.
Already searched forums and on google (no results). On another forum, they said it is not possible to root LG Doubleplay.
this is a copy and past i found, it worked for me. Would like to see some roms for it soon?????? hoping
It was tricky, but I got it, it was a weirdly specific process.
- Double Play drivers downloaded from LG C729 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA
- Enable USB debugging and non-market apps, reboot phone
- If you've been trying to root with SuperOneClick already, open your task manager (on your PC) and force kill adb.exe if it's already running
- SuperOneClick v2.3.1, DO NOT check alternate ADB parser
- Shell Root, a few times it appeared to pause longer than usual but didn't freeze, be patient with it. It finished after about a minute but I didn't get a "Done!" message
- Without restarting or disconnecting anything, click Root. If SuperOneClick doesn't restart your phone for you, do so manually.
- Boom, headshot.
How to root the LG Doubleplay
SuperOneClick may not have supported it at the time, but it now does. I just rooted my LG Doubleplay about a week ago using SuperOneClick.
***********************************************************************************************************************
However, beware because I rooted and accidentally deleted contacts.apk. (Rooting voids your waranty) By trying to reinstall it, I got a perpetual boot animation. Be careful unless you're a fan of $300 paperweights.
1) Moving on, for me, the LG Doubleplay driver didn't install. You need to get it from LG's site.
2) Then, enable USB debugging on your phone
3)Plug your phone up and select USB drive on the power options. The link will pop up in the notification bar
4)Open SuperOneClick
5)Click "root."
************************************************************************************************************************
The program does everything else. When the phone is done being rooted, SuperOneClick will reboot your phone.
I bought this phone as a replacement to my fiance's phone, so it good to know it can be rooted.

[Q] usb debugging connected not showing up in notification bar on samsung infuse 4g

Hello. I am trying to root my Samsung Infuse 4g. I found a root and unlock script on this website but it never works and i have usb debugging checked but it doesnt show up in the notification bar on my phone, Can anyone help?
Have you installed the official Samsung USB drivers? http://d-h.st/sKF
Are you currently running Gingerbread (2.3.6)? If so, I'm fairly sure that the one-click root/unlock script won't work for you. Since my Infuse had a factory install of 2.3.6, I had to root with Heimdall, and then use a hex editor to find the unlock code.

[Root] Alcatel One Touch Fierce

Alcatel Fierce is a low budget decent phone for $150 from Tmobile. Checkout gsmarena or phonearena for specs. I just got one rooted using Motochopper.
Phone : Alcatel Fierce
Driver: http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/support/faq/usbdriver.html
Root tool: motochopper - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252248
requirement; must have drivers and adb working. also enable developer mode by going into settings >about phone and click 7 times on build number. then when developer mode is enabled, select usb debugging. you can verify by connecting phone and run "adb devices" command.
once u have all the tools, unzip motochopper file and use run.bat file. you will get an install prompt on the phone. make sure to proceed with that otherwise run.bat file will stay still in the middle of the process.
hope it helps. motochopper confirmed working on this phone.

Thank you!!!

Sorry...I can't answer your unlocking question. However, did you use the OP's method for rooting or did you use the E root method mentioned by darkmash?
Thanks,
darkmash, thanks for your tip. I didn't know about the other tool. if you have a link to the tool, please share.

glad motochopper worked for you. all credits go to the developer.
regarding unlocking, i have no answer. this phone just came out. so you will probably find the unlock code on ebay in a while. or if you have tmobile service or if your friend has tmobile service, you can have them call tmobile and request a code.
So I just picked this phone up on prepay and I must say, for $149.99 you cannot really get much better. Rooting was easy and quick, thanks OP. Anyone know if there is a recovery or custom ROM in the works anywhere? I'm thinking this phone will not get any development but, one can hope.
rooting the fierce
I rooted mine with( framaroot) ...oneclick root for the fierce...download to phone and click on it..simple...make sure to use the "borimir" exploit for the fierce..you can download straight to phone, no need of a pc...do a google search on framaroot for download links.
Pre-pay to regular service
This may not be the right place to ask this, but I'm thinking about getting this phone for my parents. We have regular t-mobile service but I don't want to go through the hassle of changing my plans so I was thinking about picking it up as a pre-pay phone. If I get that, will I be able to insert a normal t-mobile sim into it or will I have to root/unlock the phone? Thanks!

The Motochopper app worked great. I was able to root my phone. I have tried to get WiFi tether by Treve to wok but keep getting MSS error. I have tried all the suggestions, but to no avail. I have been using PDANet, and am able to hard tether, but not WiFi...which is fine by me, I am still able to use the internet connection. I have also tried to find custom roms, but no one seem to have them. I have checked clockwork, TWRP, and CyanogenMod, and a few others I cannot think of, but no custom roms seem to be available yet. Motochopper comes with superuser.apk. I was able to switch to SuperSU but had to leave superuser.apk installed until after I gave superuser permission, then SuperSU asked me to uninstall. It worked. It still did not help with the WiFi though. Any ideas?

As a former GM for the local T-Mo Retail store, I can tell you that any* T-Mobile (or Simple Mobile) SIM will work in any T-Mobile branded phone right out of the box. No extra configuration needed.
*As long as it's the physical same size (eg SIM vs Micro SIM).
unlock?
hello goodnight recently acquired this phone, but I can not release it is with T mobile company and buy in mexico, is there any way to make the unlock?

Is the LG Risio (Cricket) same as LG Leon (MetroPCS/TMO)? If so, TWRP?

My gut instinct is that it is. The Risio is H343, the Leon for MetroPCS is MS345, and the Leon for T-Mobile is H340N. Phone Scoop says they're all the same, but of course they're not an authoritative source: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=4705
When my G3 gets back from warranty service next week, I want to try putting the Leon TWRP build on my Risio: https://twrp.me/devices/lgleonlte.html
I realize I could brick the phone and that's fine. My question is whether or not there's any sort of prep I can do beforehand to (possibly) put it back to rights in case I do. If there's some information I can pull from the phone that might help, let me know. It's been successfully rooted using Kingroot (specifically NewKingrootV4.52_C127_B227_office_release_2015_09_28_105203.apk).
TIA!
EDIT: Now I'm even more convinced. According to CPU-Z, the model is "c50_crk_us", the board is "msm8916", and most importantly, the hardware is "c50" (same as the "code name" for the Leon LTE on TWRP's site). Is there any way to tell which bands my modem supports? The TMO Leon supposedly supports band 12, while the Risio and MetroPCS Leon supposedly do not.
hey if you find out more, please tell me, because I would like to get custom ROMs with the risio...I'm planning on getting it from cricket

Eh, I used Kingroot to get root and then tried to throw on the TWRP build for the C50 using the TWRP app. No dice, but it rebooted just fine. Then I tried to replace Kingroot with SuperSU, but that borked it somehow. It would hang forever at "Android is updating..." (or one of those other messages) and just never finish. When I tried to boot into recovery, I got a secure boot error, so apparently I borked the recovery install, too.
I told LG it got messed up during a software update and they gave me a prepaid label to send it to them for warranty repair. They restored it and sent it back to me without any hassle. Since I already had my G3 back from them, I sold the Risio.

Upgrade UAE phone to Nugat in US

I have an s7 edge from the UAE. Been unlocked with samsung pay and everything working. However I'm still on version 6.01. Software G935FXXU1APDQ/G935FOJV1APB4/G935FXXU1APD1. TMobile is my carrier for data, use hangouts exclusively.
I downloaded Odin, am trying to locate the right firmware, but had issues even connecting to Odin. I enabled usb debugging, rebooted, hit volume up, connected, and device manager didnt notice anything connected.
So,
1) What is the most recent software I can flash, and does anyone have a link that isnt some spam thing?
2) What am I missing on installing the USB drivers?
3) Will this trip the knox security feature breaking samsung pay?
[ROM]Official Nougat7-DPLT v7.4-WiFi Call+Volte+Google Assist TMB G935F/G930F-TMobil
i'm also used the SuperKernel/SupermanRom one , and the standard 7.0 one found in the development forum
they all work great
you need to install twrp
you will trip knox

1) https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/125896/G935FXXU1DQC4_G935FOJV1DQC6_XSG/
this looks like latest uae firmware
2) http://developer.samsung.com/galaxy/others/android-usb-driver-for-windows Use those drivers also put your phone in download mode by powering it off and holding volume down, home and power button at the ame time
3) No, If you install official firmware it wont trip knox so samsung pay will continue working just like every other app that uses knox
Thanks for the help guys! I got impatient and tried changing the CSC, obviously no dice and now cant change it back. It also doesn't show up under anything on device manager on two seperate computers, and I even went out and bought samsung charging cables to make sure that wasn't it. Smart Switch doesnt work either -.-
