Hi, i have little problem, i have a android phone but it does not work touch, so i cant control it. And i searching for software with at least one of these functions:
1) Control the phone through pc without installing something o phone.
2) Go to the recovery/fastboot/flash ROM,...
Normaly way to go to recovery does not work
If you know about any app on windows i will be happy. That´s all and sorry for my english, i´m not too good in it,
I think It would be easier to answer your question, if you would tell the model of your phone, because tools usually depend on the hardware.

Tapatalk makes the xda app. The site just uses a customized version for individual forums.

I know I know... There are a lot of things I am good with... android...is new for me.
I have a galaxy note and I dont know the first thing about .apk files or rooting, etc.... I dont mind the way it works now... BUT
I want S Voice. (duh)
as you can see from my sig... Its be A WHILE since I have hacked/modded phones. Then I went to the iPhone for a few models and now I am back...
I downloaded "apkinstaller" and "appinstaller" but niether will load the apk I got off of xda.
I loaded the .apk to my external sd and made enables the ability to load apps that arent from the android market.
Do I need to delete something? Or what... I really need someone to give me a "step by step, you're an idiot" way of getting this done. I really dont want to root my phone if I dont have to.
Thanks to anyone who helps!
you shouldnt need to root to install apk's as long as you have checked off ability to install apps that arent from market. I have been doing that from my dropbox since my phone was stock everything. Maybe the apk is broken. Try downloading it again. Maybe even try downloading another apk just to test if it installs properly.
I will try that now.

- Download APK
- Open a File Manager (ES File Explorer or something)
- Tap the APK
Done.

actually I dont think that S Voice is an apk. From what I read quickly is that it needs to be flashed via CWM. Which is a bit more complicated than installing an apk.
This is the one I JUST downloaded (dl'd this one to my phone)... not working.

I dont really have the time to read up on all of it but from what I have you may need to be rooted and remove voice talk first. I think a few of the custom ROMS also have S Voice installed on them already. This is a trickier apk than usual. Would be great if someone with more experience on S Voice would jump in and show you the steps. Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

Hopefully someone will.... I appreciate your help though.
not sure if this needs to be pushed to system/app rather than installed?
if it won't install I'm sure you'll need to be rooted.

say what? (told you I am a newb)
it is, in this state (unrooted), impossible to get it working.
You need to have root-acces (which you stated you don't have), because you have to replace the usual voice talk with the S-voice application.
You can of course root your phone, read up, and install the mod.
OMG you're such a NOOB! Kidding, just kidding. Well no actually, but that's just how it is
Just follow this guide which also has screenshots of the procedure. Yey to you!

Hi Guys
I want to know can we change the OS of an android device.
Android ----->> Windows or any other OS and vice-versa. Like we do in our PC or Laptop. Or do i have to use a particular device to achieve the task
Thanks in advance
You usually can't.
If you want to mess with it, Google it and see who's done what with what device.
Ultimately it would be really cool if someone was able to develop some sort of boot-loader that allows you choose your OS at boot. Going between Android and Firefox/Ubuntu would be awesome (and seem more likely?)
yes its possible you can run wxp or ubuntu in your android phone, but dont run smooth...watch:
windows xp on android:

run linux-ubuntu on android:

It depends entirely on which phone, specifically. Remember, you need drivers for the various hardware components. Many drivers are closed-source, and we're at the mercy of whoever owns the code to the drivers.
Hi guys, great forum btw.
I have an ainol novo8 discover, (a supposed quadcore ipad mini alternative)
I really need a new rom for this device as the stock firmware is terrible. However search as I mite I can find nothing.
The device is rooted and using es file explorer I tried to remove the bloatwarw, to no avail, uninstall unsuccessful is what im greeted by.
My first question is how do I uninstall these apps? I have dissabled them through settings-apps but I want them gone completely.
My second question is where do I start when working on a new rom for a device? Please note that ainol have yet to release the source code for the ainol discover.
Anyway guys thank you all for your time and patience, and please be aware im a newbie to all this so please do try to simplify your answers.

You have to give some time for people to reply lol, check out Rom Toolbox, you can uninstall everything is you want.
in the upper right is a box "Type to find your device" put your device in there and it will take you to your phone, from there you can access the info you are looking for.
Fair point, sorry.
Just very frustrating device.
Ainol havent released there firmware yet anyway so I guess theres no way of creating a rom without it.
Thankyou btw for mentioning rom toolbox, with that es file manager and a factory data reset I managed to get rid of all of the bloatware (that I know of ) off the device.

Superboot also didn't work for me.
Custom recovery like cwm and then flashing supersu is better in my opinion.

Firstly great choice leaving that other OS behind that's the best decision you have made.
Secondly the moto g is another great decision as its an amazing phone..
Yes root it, install xposed framework and gravitybox and customize your heart out.
I followed the guide over at modaco forums to root mine:
http://www.modaco.com/forum/751-motorola-moto-g/
There are two methods to root either work fine.

Ok I think the phone is fine, in apps I now have SuperSU.
Ok I now get a warning when I start the phone, so bootloader is unlocked, and I have superSU installed in apps, whats the next step, sorry for the newbie questions.

IMHO, you should use your phone without making those hacks for a while. You need root if you want to change something really specific on your phone or want to run some really specific apps. The vast majority of people doesn't need any of those.
That said, since you already rooted your phone, you might want to try using Xposed Framework (with gravitybox), Greenify and Titanium Backup. Search for those to see if that is something you might think is useful.

Ok just in case I mess something up along the way how do I do a factory reset?
I would read on xda a good bit before attempting to do anything as it's not for the faint hearted but as soon as you have enough knowledge you'll be fine.
I'm the sort of person who likes to root but even I haven't gotten around to unlocking the bootloader on the Moto G yet and I have it a month now, I only use it as a second phone after my HTC One, plus I only use a tablet and not a PC /Laptop so you can't do anything like this on a tablet which frankly I find bizzare given more people use tablets now then desktop computers and laptops but anyway read, read and read more and you'll be fine
