Hi i have both Note 2 and 3. Note 3 is mine and Note 2 my mother's. We have the original chargers but my mother likes to keep separate charger at work and she keeps losing the chargers i buy. I don't know what she does with them but we need more chargers again.
I will point out that i compared Note 2 and Note 3 chargers and they are NOT the same ! Note 3 charger, aside from coming with USB3 cable is also slightly chunkier ( just slightly ) and even though both are rated at 2 amps the Note 3 is rated at 5.3 volts while note 2 is rated 5.0 volts.
Anyway, they still charge each other fine.
But i know there are many bad chargers out there, and original ones from Samsung.com are like $50 which i think is too much, considering that even original iPad charger is only $20 direct from Apple.com
I realize i can't buy a third party charger from Amazon that will have same quality as genuine Samsung but if i can get 80% of the quality for $15 compared to 100% of quality for $50 i am OK with that.
i also considered buying an iPad charger because i know it is very powerful and very high quality and only $20 for a genuine one - but i read here on XDA that unless i use a modded USB cable it will not charge at full speed because Apple doesn't follow the USB charging standard.
so what charger do you recommend ? i would like at least a 2 amp charger.

My Note 3 charges very slowly compared to when I first got it. I've watched and read countless reviews on the Note 4 and I'm thinking of buying JUST the charger for it so I can use it on my Note 3.
Would it charge as fast?
Or would I just be wasting money

No it wont, the fast charging feature in the Note 4 apparently uses a combination of the 9v 1.67Amp and 5v 2Amps charger and the Snapdragon 800 CPU which has "fast charging" enabled.
So no it wont work with other phones as a "fast" charger.
woops i thought its a new thread so sorry!
Is it 2a?
I pre-ordered it and wish to have backup wall/car chargers ready to go for next week.
Tnx
It's a 2A Quickcharge 1.0 unit. Quickcharge boosts the voltage (to ~9v from 5v) when the phone is less than 50%, so you can't get just ANY 2 amp charger and expect it to work as quickly.
If you care (or are willing to wait) Quickcharge 2.0 wall plugs should ship in ~2 months. That boosts the input to 15 volts (IIRC) and will supposedly charge from 0% to 100% in about 45 minutes.
yeah I guess I can wait. I can always keep an old 1a plug by the bed for long overnight charges.
Does samsung sell oem chargers at release date?
9V 1.67A and 5V 2A is what it says on the charger
9V 1.67A is the rapid charging part
it's a dual voltage charger. 5v @ 2.0A and 9v @ 1.67A
For some unknown reason, I have a 2.1 amp car charger and cheap 1 amp ac charger. My HTC One M7 charge slow but the Note 4 charge much faster using the same charging device. I dont know what it is, but I like it!
So the charger on Samsung's website is not the same one that came with the Note 4?

I think it's the Fast Charging 2.0 hardware in the Note 4?

Not sure it has anything to do with the Fast Charging hardware. The Fast Charging works with the provided charger, which is a dual voltage one. I used my iPhone's/iPad's car charger with my Note 4 and didn't notice a speed-up in charging time.
On a tangential note: I can't find anyone who sells the Note's fast charger separately yet and I needed another one for use with the Note 4 at the office. So I used the Asus charger that came with my original 3G Nexus 7 (which remains forgotten on a shelf). It works pretty well. I noticed that the Asus charger charged all my handsets (HTC One M8, Nexus 5, Z2, Oppo Find 7) pretty reliably -- the M8 and Nexus 5 seemed to charge faster compared with their stock chargers.
Anyone who's held the Asus charger knows it's a little bit bulkier and a few ounces weightier than the usual chargers that come with smartphones these days so there may be a hardware component to it. Whatever it is, it's probably the best standalone charger I've had the cables connect via a USB port so you can use it with your iPhone too.
If you can find at a garage sale or some random tech shop, you should pick one up. Works great with everything.

If you have a Nexus 6, Moto X, Galaxy Note 4, or any other Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 compliant phone or tablet, you need a high output “Super Charger” like this one to get the full charging speed that those devices are capable of. On my new Nexus 6, this charger took me from 30% to 92% in 30 minutes of charging!
Pros:
+ Fast and powerful.
+ It runs silently.
+ Good quality build, including a nice quality cable and plug.
+ Quick Charge 2.0 compatible.
Cons:
- Bulkier and heavier than most chargers.
- The LED light is much brighter than it needs to be.
- The prongs don’t collapse, so they are at risk of getting bent in your laptop case or bag.
This Onite 3.0A is well made and very powerful. I strongly recommend you get this or another 3A charger like this if you have a Quick Charge 2.0 compatible phone or tablet. I received mine for free, to review, but am very happy with it.

Am I missing something. I'm not using the "quick charger" that came with the Note 4, but shouldn't chargers ALWAYS run silently?
Thats not a quick charge 2.0 charger, the quick charge chargers use 9v's to charge instead of 5v's

Spammer. He doesn't even know the technology enough to be a reviewer.
note 4 charger(quick charger) is 9v,1.67A instead of 5V
note 4 quick charger is 9v, 1.67A. Though 5V 2.0A is also OK, while no quick.
Considering 5V 3A, maybe it is faster than 2A. But the IC will prevent from higher current.
I actually ordered and tested this charger. It seems as fast as my other 2 Amp chargers. All of the reviews of this charger on Amazon are from other people who've been given samples from the seller. Don't waste your money on this charger.
I'd never buy anything from Onite. Spam threads from them, like this one, seem to pop up quite often.
I recently acquired a newly updated choetech wireless fast charger. I was pleased with the updated design as it was not circular anymore. It charges in approximately 2 hours for 0-100%. I was very satisfied with this charger and would recommend to anyone on here looking for one. The one drawback of this charger is you have to have an extra wall brick that supports fast charge. The phone comes with one but for people not like me that will only use the phones charger this would become a problem. They run about $10 on amazon so not a huge deal. At 23.99 this is the best fast wireless charger you can get. The Samsung one costs like $70 and is arguably designed worse. If you guys have questions about it just ask me. Here is a link to amazon.

Interesting this one costs about the same as the yootech fast wireless charger I have, mine is triangular though and works just fine charging the device from 0-100% within 2 hours like the one you have. Amazing how much Samsung can charge for their wireless charger when there are now cheaper alternatives out there that people will actually buy because of the money they will save compared to Samsung's and it works nearly the same.
yea with the samsung charger your paying for the name
I just bought an 5 pack of "TronsmartPremium Micro USB Cable with Gold-Plated Connectors in Assorted Lengths (6ft, 1ft, 3.3ft x 3) for Android, Samsung, HTC, Nokia, Sony and More (Black)" for £5.99
And i am charging my Tab S1 T800 at 1720ma using the 6ft cable that is the same speed as my T800`s Samsung OEM cable, which is amazing as the longer the cable the slower the charge usually is.
Remember the quality of the charging cable is only half the story, the charger has to be able to deliver enough power and identify itself to the tablet as an high power charger, otherwise the tablet will only charge at a slow speed.
John.
If you have tested any charging cables with an usb power monitor/meter and get high charging rate add the brand below.
I used remax 6ft for a long time and still powerfull , it charge my tab s t805 very quickly 20% for 1 hour less ( sorry my bad english )
Yeah, It take about 5 hrs for a full charge on the 10.5"
EDIT: The "Tronsmart" cables i recommended in my first post seem to be out of stock on Amazon UK at the moment.

Old thread, but I personally just buy the "Amazon Basics" micro-usb cables. While I haven't benchmarked the charge speed of the black Amazon cables against the white Samsung cable, I never had any problems with the former. The Amazon cables are thicker and feel better quality than the original.
I can charge my 10.5" at full speed 1.7amp with a 6ft Tronsmart cable now that is nice, I bought two packs they are only £6 for a 5 pack

Eleta cables 3ft best. But use a Anker charger. The Anker charger is so much better than the oem one.
The Amazon basic microusb cables get a lot of bad reviews and they are not that cheap, The Tronsmart ones i bought are rated a 3amp and 99% of the reviews are good, and you get twice as many cables for the same price.

My experience was that I have about six of those cables all around the house and also in the cars. They work just fine.
