HTC Desire HD Qi tag or back ? - Desire HD Accessories

Scouring the internet like crazy, got a HTC Desire HD that I really want to use Qi charging for. I also have an SGS3, so i wanted to kill two birds with one
Any ideas? I'm really running out of ideas here. I was thinking maybe I could use some copper wire or something from a regular one.
I saw a back (entire back above the sim cover at the bottom), aka fits around the cam and flash, for htc thunderbolt for qi, but i'm guessing that wouldn't fit this would it?

Desire Silver

There has been much talk about the Desire in Brown and Silver 'Editions'. The facts (if any) we know about so far is that the Silver handset will be offered by certain carriers EXCLUSIVELY. There have also been pictures of the Desire with Nexus One docking pins here in both the available varieties.
Now since I am looking to buy a Desire and wish to make this clear for the community as well, Has anyone actually got a Desire in Brown or Silver and can confirm that it has these pins?
The dimensions of the phone are virtually identical to the Nexus One and therefore will be compatible with the Car Dock.
Any links and info I'm sure will be appreciated in the community, but after all the searching I've done to date i still have not found any solid facts about which model will feature docking provisions or not. Perhaps a different HTC part number other that A1818?
I own the silver desire which is only sold by selected few shops.
Mine does not have those holes underneath, which I guess are the docking pins you are talking about.
I have a brown Desire and compared it with a silver one, but those are similar. This means there are no pins or anything else for a docking station, just the micro-usb connector.
These are wrong.
I have a brown desire, and when i do not have the pins, i have seen a number of ones that do.
So i imagine 2 versions out there, although im not sure that the ons with the pins, were actually dock pins (might just been holes from something else)
Those Desires with gold pins (like the Nexus One) are early non-functional dummy phones.
If you are interested in the silver one, try asking her where to get it (well, she said it's available in the Netherlands):

Off topic but why do people call it brown? Mine is more purpley than brown....
JAmes.
Under very bright light, I do find that the back of the phone is brown. I agree that the metal part of the phone is kinda purple-ish.
The phone is actually branded as Urban Brown by HTC.
So nobody out there actually has a handset with these pins?
I doubt that the images are dummy phones, on YouTube somewhere i was watching an unboxing of a Euro model that you can briefly see the bottom of the phone and it had the pins.

I haven't seen any video/pic that shows a working Desire with those pins. The Desires there were shown to have those pins in video/pics I have seen were never turned on.
No idea why dummy phones with those pins exists though. I remember on the very first day the Desire was announced, when asked about the hardware differences between the Desire and the N1, it was mentioned that both the 2nd mic and docking pins were removed.
The 'Brown' Desire in the picture hasn't got the silver buttons mine has - possibly pre-production models?

Europe charger

Hi all,
I received my Desire HD this week and noticed that the charger is modular, it currently has the UK plug on the end, does anyone know where I can buy a European adaptor to go on the end, I've tried googling it but I keep finding 3rd party HTC travel packs that cost up to £30 which I'm not interested in.
I must say that what you get in the HTC Desire HD box is not much, not even a screen protector.

have a look

Spot on, mate. Major disappointment. Even the packaging itself is cheap looking. My misses's crappy Nokia came in a better box.
Compare that to the sumptuous packaging the Touch HD came in, with its magnetic clasp and foam "bed', and you don't feel as though you've just bought a high-end device. More evidence of HTC corner cutting?

I think HTC are going GREEN saving Global warming by giving the Smartphone in a cheap card box

More like going SCROOGE . I also came from Touch HD and that was the best packaging with all the neccessary accessories (and good quality too) I ever saw on a phone. Sadly, it seems that this will be the best I would ever see.

My Touch 4G Slide Battery

My wife has a My Touch 4G Slide, and I have a Sensation. I was taking a look at our batteries today, and both our our OEM batteries have the exact same model number, and look and feel exactly the same...with one exception that I could find: the metal contacts on the bottom of the battery are on the opposite side of each battery, relative to the "HTC" logo on the "front" of the battery. If you flip one battery over, so the "small print" is facing up, and the align it with the other battery, I have a hard time telling the difference.
Before I place one of these batteries in the opposite phone and cause the polar ice caps to melt down, can anybody confirm that I can swap these batteries between the phones with no issues?
I'll keep scouring the XDA forums and the rest of the interweb thingies, but I haven't found an answer yet.
Thanks.
I did this going from my old incredible to a g2. I just flipped the battery around, cut the corners down and plugged it in. Worked just fine.

I'm scared that my hair will fall out, or tsunamis will hit several major cities around the world! Well, maybe not THAT scared.
Make sure the polarities are going the right way.
HTC Sensation, HTC Evo 3D, and HTC MyTouch 4G Slide stock batteries are all interchangeable. The similar-sized extended batteries (the ones that don't require a new back cover) also work too, to my knowledge.
Well the Evo 3D and Sensation batteries are swapable so guess that would me the same for the Sensation and myTouch. I have a sensation and my wife has the MT4G... why would you want to swap?
Edit--- nevermind just realized you said MT4G Slide...
I've switched the 2 batterys with no problems

don't forget to use the coupon codes mentioned on the frontpage (i forgot).
I ordered and hope it will be good .
really love the mugen 1 in my g2, it is hard because of that to switch now

Which Dock? / Show Us Your Dock

I'm on the lookout for a nice dock for my One XL (ATT One X). Are there any available yet that use the pogo pin contacts on the back?
If not, WHY NOT :silly:
Anyone else have a nice looking dock? Feel free to post pics or links.
Thanks :good:
Only the official HTC charger uses the pogo pins I think - http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=230289&phone=229814
Would be nice to see a car charger that uses them too!
Yea, that's for the International one X, and the pogo pins are offset by a few mm
Like you said, the pogo pins don't line up, and we can't expect one that fits with our phone anytime soon.

The Evita is a bastard child. I'm using this dock http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007WN4F0Y/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
with an NFC tag to set my alarm and turn off auto-sync at night.

[Q] Any idea on how to repair Micro USB port?

I have a T-Mobile Sensation 4G. I have taken really good care of it for the last 2 years. The Micro USB port seems to have finally gone south.
Does anyone know where I could get a replacement Micro USB replacement part? I have been looking on the Internet, but I just come across the Sensation XL part.
Has anyone done it before?
Any help would be appreciated. I am down to 38% battery. The only phone I have is my crappy Gingerbread android phone from work.
Thanks!
You could try a repair shop. I've had them resoldered before on other phones when they were loose.
First try pulling the battery and digging around in there with something like a safety pin, small paper clip, or a sanded down toothpick. Sometimes you just get a ton of lint buildup in there. If there's enough it'll mess up your connection.
I checked eBay. You can find spare charging ports on there if you want to go that route, but most people don't want to mess with replacing them. They're a pain.

Just about all repair shops in my area said my phone is too old, and they don't have the parts.
I did see some parts on ebay, but I figured I would ask if anyone has done it before on here. Also was hoping someone would be able to suggest a storefront to buy it from.
Like one of these?

Seems easy enough to replace once you get the phone apart enough to access it. May need a little solder work though
The solder is the hard part. To remove the old port from the board properly, you can't just use a soldering iron. It's recommended to use preheaters and a hot air station or you might damage the board. You have to be able to release the wires plus the surface and/or through-hole mounts. It's not an easy task on this phone.
Honestly, probably the best recommendation if you don't have a professional to repair it would be to just get an extra battery and an external charger. Sorry, but I don't recommend home repair on this one.

I pretty much did what you suggested before reading your post.
I ended up buying this battery charger: Anker® Multi-Purpose Universal USB Travel Wall Charger
It made more sense to go down this road than trying to repair my phone.
Now if this can just hold me over until the Nexus 5 or Galaxy Note 3 announcement.
Nice! I hear lots of good things about Anker products. I think you took the right route.
Haha! For you, I hope they come out fast too. I'm too cheap to buy new phones!
